I’m not a reviewer of any sorts but my experience tonight at Maxx Fitness made me feel compelled to write one. I’m a student and am looking to join a gym off campus with more space, equipment, etc. After searching around online a bunch I was so excited to try to put maxx fitness, seemed like a good fit. They do a one time free trial which was pretty cool. When I got there I at first glance loved it. Nice asthetic and a decent equipment selection. I had a good cardio workout and was really digging the place, then was doing abs and looked over to the front counter to see the person working as well as one of the trainers pointing at me and hysterically laughing at me. Aren’t fitness centers supposed to be a place where people build confidence not get theirs broken down? Especially from the employees of the center? It’s sad because I was ready to sign up for membership after my workout, but I couldn’t even bare to walk past the employees after that on my way out. I’m giving this one star just for the asthetic. I will NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know to NEVER STEP FOOT INTO THAT PLACE.

It's a nice gym at an affordable cost. I am actually quite surprised to read negative reviews. The gym could use a row machine, it had everything else I wanted. The staff are wonderful people who actually are committed to this lifestyle as well from my experience.

The reason I don't rate the providence gym higher is the lack of equipment. They are great for some things, such as benches, pull down/ row machines, smith machines free weights... But are horribly short when it comes to most hammer strength, and arm back and shoulder machines. Legs are well covered. Also plenty of cardio machines.
I like the shakes a lot. I also like the movie/cardio room option. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed.
Not too far a ride for me either.

Honestly, I don't understand what all of the negativity is all about. I've been going for a few months now. I've never been screwed out of money, the staff is always friendly, and they are VERY clean. There's always someone walking around cleaning things, vacuuming, and cleaning the floors. There was even a member of the staff that was walking around last week giving away free samples of their fresh blended shakes to the members. They have a lot of machines and it's definitely worth $10 a month

DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE CORRUPT. I cancelled my membership two years ago. Now they sent me a bill saying I owe them almost $500. When I went there the guy said for them to drop the charges I would have to sign up again and give them updated bank information. I cancelled for a reason and they want me to sign back up so I don't have to pay that amount. Max Fitness are thieves and snakes. They lookup past documents to steal because they are desperate scumbags for money!!! I recommend Planet fitness or Workout world.

Decent gym. I only go early in the day, so I don't know how the crowd is at night. Wish they had more equipment, but due to the size, it's understandable. They have a trx system, theater with treadmills, spin class, and group fitness (can't comment on classes cause I never use them). The staff is friendly and courteous. Only issue I have is the people working out. lots of ego, not enough weight lifting. I have never seen anyone wipe down a machine and guys rarely rerack weight. For the price, I can't complain.

I was a member of the Maxx fitness club for a year. After the year was up, I went in to cancel my membership. I was told to fill out a form in order to cancel my membership, I did so. I even agreed to pay an extra month due to the time of which I came in to do the cancellation. A couple months later, Not only Maxx Fitness Club charged me the monthly fee they also charged a renewal fee of $39.00 when I followed their procedure in cancelling my membership. It has been a month now dealing with them to refund me the $19.99 monthly fee as well as the renewal fee of $39.00. Everytime I call to speak with the manager named Dan, he informs me that his corporate office has to issue my refund which never happens. It is a shame that I enter into a contract with this company honored it yet they are not able to hornor their end of it.

I've been a member of this gym since before it opened. Waited months for their grand opening and finally get in and was highly disappointed time after time. They make up rules as they go. Classes are cancelled without notice at times and if you have children and are already paying for their child care services, read the fine print!! They are individually owned, so they answer to no one. Which makes it a lot easier for them to get away with it. It's unclean and the staff, beginning with management are highly rude! Cancelled my membership today.
