I just started coming to this gym earlier this week, and so far, I’ve been really impressed. Before joining, I did some research and came across a lot of negative comments online—mainly about the 2-year contract. In my opinion, it’s simple: don’t agree or commit to something you aren't certain you can follow through on.

That said, the gym itself exceeded my expectations. The equipment is amazing; everything is either brand new or very well maintained. My husband and I made the switch from planet fitness & it is a massive upgrade. We are both athletes, and this gym fits our training needs perfectly. It’s never too crowded, there’s plenty of open space, and the overall setup is great for serious workouts. It is also very clean.

Another bonus is how much is included with the standard membership. The owner, Shay, is super transparent about all fees and the contract terms. He’s also understanding and willing to work with members if you get injured or need to relocate, which I really appreciate.

If you’re looking for a quality gym with solid equipment, this place is definitely worth checking out.

This gym was a pleasant surprise on a recent trip of mine. I am a powerlifter so finding the right equipment for my workouts can be hard. This gym had everything I needed. They even had squat and deadlift specialty bars. The 24/7 access was key for me. Once I was signed up I had not issues with access. The owner was great to work with.

Update: within 24 hours of this post, the corporate administrative manager sent me a email apologizing about the problems with cancelation and closed my membership and billing. Original post: This gym has good equipment and is clean, which is why I’m giving 2 stars. In August 2021 I joined to exercise with certain trainers in classes. However, shortly into my membership, those trainers were let go, and the gym never hired replacements. I complained, and I was told they were actively trying to hire, and I should be patient. Well, then they made the classes to be led virtually, which just wasn’t worth the effort to show up. I was stuck in a 2 year contract at this point, but the conditions that were presented when I joined had changed (virtual classes). I had a twin pregnancy and doctor’s orders to not exercise, but I wasn’t let out of my contract because I had 2 additional months left in the contract than what the doctor’s letter said I needed as a medical break. At this point I’m just running through the end of my contract, paying monthly, and not using the gym at all. During the time of this contract, my family life changed (children), and I enjoy working out at home instead of in a gym. I truly think 2 years is just too long for a contract, and I should have fought this when signing up. Also I want to note, within those 2 years I never worked or lived in Greenwood, so I was always commuting to this gym. However, at the time I signed up, I thought it was worth it to work out under certain instructors. When I tried to end my contract because of distance, being over 25 miles away, I was told since it was the same address as when I had signed up, that wasn’t valid for cancelation. Now, in order to keep my contract from continuing as month to month after the 48 months, I had to send a certified letter to Peak, the company they outsource to. Peak claimed they never received the letter. I provided the tracking and threatened legal action. I also have not had positive experience with management unless they are trying to upsell—just being honest. It looks like there has been a recent, massive push for positive Google reviews, because just a few months ago the reviews were almost entirely negative and complaints about cancellation and billing and management arguing back very unprofessionally. After my experience with this gym, I will never sign up at another gym again unless it’s a month to month contract. My 2 year contract, with a pause for pregnancy, lasted from August 2021-June 2024.

I am only in town temporarily and thus am doing just a month long membership but I have had a good experience so far. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and seem to really care for their clients. There is a range of equipment, including cardio, free weights, and strength training machines, and they offer group fitness classes, personal training, and childcare. They also have some smaller rooms and studios that are great if you prefer to work out more privately. Check them out!

I became a member when I moved to greenwood almost 2 years ago and have never had any issues with billing or my account being falsely charged. Literally every month for the better part of 18 months the reasonable amount has been charged on the proper date. My advice would be, if you are serious about your training and health, this IS the place for you. If you are NOT disciplined and are wishy washy, than yes obviously signing a legal agreement to a 2 year contract will bite you in the butt.that being said, that is not the gyms fault. That is the individuals fault who didn't stick to their agreement or plan and Gave up on the process early. They have spent thousands on upgrades and new weights and equipment recently and remodeled the entire facility. Looks great, always clean, always friendly and motivating . Love my gym !!!

Started here about a month ago. I still have my Planet Fitness Membership as well. But find myself going to Omni much more often than Planet. I like the atmosphere. Very laid back. The staff is super friendly! Before joining, I was worried about judgement since planet does sort of cater mainly to beginners. However, everyone has been extremely friendly and welcoming.

It is impressive; BUT it would be fantastic if it had a steam room, Finish Cold Dip, Whirlpool, swimming pool, and a smoothie bar that makes protein drinks like the old European Health Spa did years ago.
The sauna they have is very nice. There is a very large TV that plays movies that helps to ease the scenario of a taxing workout. Yes, they did a nice job creating a FULL functioning gym. It is very clean and pleasant environment. Yet, if they added the facilities that I mentioned above, they would KNOCK - OUT the competition in the area. Yet, you CANNOT beat the PRICE, a SECURED entrance, 24/7 open facility, and a very large selection of weights, machines, cross trainers, and a track. I love it, but it could be BETTER

I would strongly discourage anyone for signing up for this gym. The management locks people into two-year long membership agreements that cannot be canceled unless you move over 25 miles away. The employees will then try to trick you by claiming you are paying to end the membership, but are actually getting you to pay a new annual membership. Then you will find out the real cancellation process is through a different company entirely that requires you to prepare a written notice and mail to them. Expect this cancellation process to take at least a couple of months after your two-year membership finally ends.

Everyone just use Planet Fitness instead. There have far more equipment and much better quality equipment. Plus there is no commitment and it is a third of the price. If Omni had any confidence in its service as a gym, it wouldn’t force people into multiple year memberships that cause stress and hardship to cancel.

Filthy, lots of machines down, won’t honor a 30day pass as I got cut off in 2 weeks bc I won’t sign a contract. it’s not worth a 2yr contract you can’t fight to get out of mold, mildew has been in the steam room the entire time, same trash in showers for the 2 weeks I was allowed there weights everywhere due to a younger crowd not caring, nobody is sanitary. Shae (shay) the guy was rude. Place should be condemned on not maintaining the place, steam room falling apart bc it wasn’t installed correctly or used the correct materials, holes in walls, nobody there in the 2 saturdays I had. Can’t tell you how long I waited to use free weights bc they only have 1 set. Don’t recommend if they can’t even honor their promotion to trick everyone else into signing for a false advertisement they will lie to you just to get a signature, like we have a cleaning specialist, yeah I watched him clean the showers yet that debris has been the same shower since before I got there, it is a con for a contract so they can stay in business which they shouldn’t be after today.

I felt very unappreciated at this gym. Take it from someone that has been into fitness for nearly 7 years...

First, I was supposed to have a buy-one-year-get-one-year free membership but they only gave me one free month before expiring my membership.

Second, they do not buy new equipment and if something breaks and it cannot be repaired in-house, they simply remove it without replacing it.

Third, I have heard numerous rumors on various methods they have used to scandal money from customers and employees. In fact, I know several former employees that have relocated from this gym to other gyms in the area (I have not confirmed their reasoning, but I have some ideas).

Finally, what ticks me off the most is that Omni Fitness in Greenwood, SC is clearly listed as an approved gym for Active & Fit members on Active & Fit's Directory, but they refuse to use that as a valid membership. So, not only did I not get a free year and paid to be an Active & Fit member only to be denied because "they don't have insurance set up" or some lame excuse, the owner still had the audacity to try and sell me another membership. HE THOUGHT.
