I started with Jill thinking I would get an assessment from a physical therapist and then move on to working with a trainer. I simply wanted to improve my balance (to avoid falls as I aged) and get more active. I had no idea how beneficial it was going to be! I have continued to work with Jill for two years now. Her understanding of how the human body works is amazing but, even stronger still, is her ability to tailor our workouts to my specific physical issues and communicate the process so clearly. It is with pleasure that I write this review of Jill Zimmerman and Perfectly Fit Wellness in Charleston, SC. I worked exclusively with Jill, but I have gotten to know Jeanne Anne and Allison also. Everyone is friendly and personable. The environment is clean and conducive to good work.

I have worked with Jill for months on a variety of musculoskeletal issues. These include Achilles tendonosis, rehab from Achilles tendon surgery, lower back pain secondary to LS Spine disc disease, and various issues related to the above and some not related but discovered as we worked together.

We tackled:
Chronic musculoskeletal pains due to a life of sports such as Lumbosacral disc disease
Musculoskeletal issues due to aging
Athletic overuse syndromes

Knowledge is clearly a strength for Jill. I am a physician, so perhaps I have somewhat different expectations of a practitioner’s knowledge base. Jill stands out in this area.
Focus. She stays laser-focused on the task.
Energy. She invests good energy into our work.
Tenacity. Quitting is not an option.
And, critically, she listens well and communicates well.

I have learned much through my work here.
I have strengthened my body awareness. This has never been one of my assets and this serves me well in my ongoing work.
Most of my lifelong fitness has involved sports, weights, equipment, partners, etc. Jill has taught me many fitness, strengthening, and mobility routines that require minimal equipment and that can be done almost anywhere without the necessity of a partner.
Importance of technique. Quality over quantity is emphasized with a focus on “doing it right”.

In summary, I highly recommend Jill and Perfectly Well Fitness.

I started seeing Jill for physical therapy and trained with her personal trainers for years. What sets Perfectly Fit Wellness practice from any other one is first off they have personal trainers that have degrees in exercise kinesiology. It isn't a certification they received from an online course and have no experience with actual clients. From someone who got a very serious injury from a personal trainer at a large gym, it is important to know your trainer's credentials. Also Jill knows the human body and can help you figure out what's going on even if you only see her for an injury. She's not your regular PT that your family doctor would refer you to. They would say oh you injured your shoulder, let me open my PT book & see what exercises you should do. Jill will help you understand how you got the injury in the first place to avoid it happening again. She's also going to give you exercises to do at home so you don't need to see her on a regular basis. She can help get you out of pain. My husband sees her as needed as well. I have other family members who have gone to Perfectly Fit and are pleased with Jill. If I have a nagging pain or body issue, I always call Jill first. Thankfully from training with her personal trainers for years, I know how to perform exercises correctly and have not had any injuries' from exercise for 10+ years now.

My experience with Jill at Perfectly Fit Wellness, although short, will forever change the way I look at movement and breath work. I came to Jill as an ex athlete and personal trainer, looking for some help (and hope) with multiple chronic issues I had been dealing with (bulging discs in neck, lower back sacral defect, missing cartilage in knee and thoracic back spasms). After just a few sessions, I was able to retrain my movement, incorporate breath in the right places, and create a framework for better overall body alignment. This therapy, along with my chiropractic and massage, was just what I needed to get over the hump. I will forever be grateful for Jill's knowledge, sense of humor and business sense. As an avid hiker and dental hygienist (retired in 2021), I’ve experienced several muscular issues. Once it was my knee, once my hip and while working as a hygienist, I had several issues with my working arm. Each time Jill showed me exercises/stretches I could do at home. And sure enough, each time the issue resolved. She was patient and explained the mechanics behind what she was instructing me to do. I am a physical therapist myself; however, I was struggling with postpartum diastasis recti and pelvic floor weakness. I had heard great things about Jill and wanted someone to assess/evaluate my movement and provide feedback. Jill opened my eyes to my posture and movement patterns and postpartum corrective exercises.

I often refer friends, friends of friends and women of various exercise groups I am a part of. Some clinics are restricted by insurance or productivity rates and overhead. At Perfectly fit you get one on one care, thinking outside of the box care and genuine problem solving care.

I work with Jill and have, ever since she started at Perfectly Fit. I’ve not only gotten older, I’ve gotten stronger. The amount of progress I’ve seen in my strength and agility has been amazing. She pushes me just enough so I don’t get bored and that I continue to get stronger. She makes sure I don’t do anything where I could hurt myself. If I hurt myself doing something else outside of my training sessions she fixes it. I could really go on and on because I feel that the time I spend at Perfectly Fit is a huge part of why I’m able to maintain an active life style in my 80’s. Jill is amazing!  I have had 2.5 years of nearly constant upper back/shoulder/neck pain and nothing else I have tried (chiropractic care, massage therapy, dry needling, etc...) actually solved the problem and kept the pain away. Jill looked at my pain from a whole body perspective and really investigated what was causing it. Thanks to her treatment style, recommended exercises, and general insights, I feel like a whole new person - pain free and capable of building strength.

The best part about Jill's treatment philosphy is that she actually explains and teaches you exactly which muscles a particular exercise is targeting, and how it is all related to the larger picture of your specific body and your specific pain.  This enabled me to start to recognize signs of particular muscle weaknesses and tendencies of my body, and understand how to prevent my pain from recurring.
