As you can see from all the other reviews the staff is rude and have attitude issues. I've been a member for like 8 years on and off. Last year I tried the golf membership and had nothing but issues getting extra charges and when you ask for help and clarification Michelle the manager is by far the rudest human ive ever had the displeasure of talking to. The place is ran like a high school full of drama and they make member issues that are private part of their daily gossip. 2 different workers told me to set my daughter up with different billing so I came in and got nothing but attitude and wasted my time again.

I have been a member for 4 years , and the “Swim Aerobics Gang “ are rude , belittling , micro aggressive , and has a sense of delusions of them owning the waters and the pool of wood lake .
They have class on Saturdays from 8am-9am. That I did not know of
For some reason my presence and my children’s presence at 7:45 caused an up roar and 5 different members of the prestigious swim society approached me and said they were about to start swim class . Then the instructor approaches me with her passive aggressive voice (as if she didn’t watch the swim societies fangs grow as they approached me one by one ) and reminded me that their high importance of everyone swim class started at 8am. “
I reminded her , that I could read AND it’s 7:50am and we would be sure to leave at 8am. I’m not sure if she could hear me , so she repeated her self AGAIN, because I wasn’t moving to her tone , and we did not leave .
Long story short , I understand that it probably was NOT the merpeople and instructors intentions to make us feel unwanted , and micro aggression to leave. However , intentions can be argued but at the end of the day IMPACT can’t . Other than that , staff and daycare and equipment are perfect !

Let me start off by saying, I only do the classes in the upstairs room at Woodlake. Great instructors! Great classes! However, the AC problem the past 2 years is awful! The ac has been broken for 5 weeks now. I have heat induced asthma...its hard for me to work out in a hot room. I avoid it, that's why I pay for a membership where I can workout in the AC. It was broken 3 separate times last year, and so far this year I don't think its worked at all. This is unacceptable for a business. Anytime the AC is broken, business get priority and they get fixed asap. I don't know what company you are using or if there is some kind of contract and that is the issue....but if there is you need to get out of that contract and get a better one. I've seen classmates almost pass out from how hot it gets in the room, about 80 degrees. No extra fans have been brought in and there is never any communication as far as emails stating the AC is broken. Why not move class to a downstairs room? Why don't you bring in extra fans? I'm baffled as to how a huge company can let this issue go on for so long but can afford to do expansions on other Great Life locations. Fix your current locations. Not sure if I am going to be renewing my membership when it comes due.

Been about 3 months with a half operational sauna for the men. I pay good money for a membership and shouldnt have to drive to Harrisburg for a "good" sauna. Have tried to ask the front desk several times and just get vague answers/nobody knowing whats going on. Would just have sent this feedback into main office if they had a feedback option, but they dont!

Update: The GM Patrick reached out and basically told me that i was using the sauna wrong, and that it actually works perfect, then said to maybe try a different location. 6 months at this point with a non functional sauna. Thats disappointing

This gym has everything you need for working out and just improving youself
I am kinda tired of the old people taking over the courts to play pickle ball
But except that this gym is amazing I used to weigh 223 pounds but now I weigh 160 just because of this amazing gym thank you great life and to my amazing personal trainers in the past

Cancellation is the worst, the promise it will be canceled this month, and will be no charge going forward and that my membership in cancelled, but then it still goes through the next month, you speak to customer service who tells you call you bank to figure it!!!! For a big business horrible customer service when ending a membership, people will start going to these smaller gyms, to avoid all this nonsense.

The pool is way too warm for lap swimming; also the water is very cloudy and you cannot see when you are nearing the wall. Staff were friendly and locker rooms are nice, but the pool is not suitable for those looking to swim laps.

the annual membership auto renewal is garbage, and they make you sign up for a whole year again. The only notice I received was by email, which i didnt read. and now the only way out of the membership contract is to pay for the whole year, or find someone else to take over the membership. We are talking about a $40 membership, this isnt an apartment contract but they require a 30 day notice? for what?

I would have recommended until I tried to cancel this past week.

I have had GreatLife for over 2 years now and have told everyone that it's worth having. I found myself needing to cut back on bills recently due to life events and found that you can only cancel great life in the same month that you started it.

I understand having a year commitment, but making it so that it auto renews for a year every year essentially making it near impossible to leave unless you decide to leave on your yearly anniversary. This is shady as hell and is a pure BS policy.

It's sad that for this one reason alone I do not recommend them.

Very slow to fix or replace broken equipment. A basketball backboard shattered over a month ago because it had broken previously and was repaired using makeshift materials. It still has not been replaced and the courts are crowded. When bringing it up to staff they either blame the gym patrons for breaking it or get upset just for asking. It appears they are leaving it broke to prove a point. It feels disrespectful to those of us who use it the right way and just want to get some shots up.

Great Life is a wonderful family centered athletic club where you can get a good workout alone in the morning and swim with the kids after dinner. I love their Yoga and Pilates classes. My husband works out on the weights 3 times a week before work. The entire family enjoys the open basketball courts.
The staff members are very friendly and helpful. The hours and location are convenient.

I love the pool here....the warmer temperature is fantastic compared to another fitness pool across town. I love the water aerobics class and that they have it at 6 pm so people like me have time to get off of work and attend. I also love the work out and equipment room. If I have any suggestion it would be to have someone in there to show new people how the equipment works. My husband and I had to figure it out ourselves. But we did and we love the facility and will recommend it!!

Read if a swimmer. After emailing the manager, talking to staff for over 6 months with no change, I cannot recommend Great Life. Children are taking over lap lanes while adults are swimming laps. Children have gotten hit by swimmers. There is no lifeguard. Staff is still not in the pool area full time. Parents are not in the pool area with their kids. It is a dangerous situation. I am unsure why Great Life has not done anything about the unruly pool situation.

I generally enjoy great life but today I don't know if I even want to go back.Me and my brother were swimming in the pool we noticed a fair amount of people gathering in the shallow end of the pool then Rachel (as I later figured out was the instructor of the class) tells us we need to get out because she was having a class or go to the swim lanes, but before we had a chance to even get near a side she raised her voice and started pointing in front of the whole class telling us we had to get out "now".So as instructed we moved to the empty swim lane we did a few laps in there but we heard the Instructor Rachel rudely saying that we needed to stop "messing around" after a few more minutes other people who weren't attending the class were swimming near the deep end where they weren't bothering the class at all we figured that we could do the same but as soon as we did she stated that we had to leave and called in a great life worked to kick us out as we were leaving she sassily said "Goodbye" to us then "thank you" to the worker while starring at us through the glass as we walked away.

Way to many kids running around yelling and screaming. Cant even take a shower without a bunch of kids yelling at each other from between shower stalls. Last time I was there I had to try 6 different treadmills before I found one that worked. Not a pleasant place to work out. Employees didn't seem very friendly.

I'm completely stuck in my contract. Unlike most places, once your year contract is up, it automatically renews for a whole year. My membership dues went up over 30%!!!

I highly recommend going somewhere else. Great Life is everything BUT great!

The Staff here is great . I go on the weekends and they always greet me by name even before i check in. The facility is getting a lot better since i joined and the improvments are great i like the fact they have resurfaced all the pool tennis courts and Gym floor and when they get the rest done it will be great, the only thing to do now is to learn to golf any teachers.

My boyfriend and I went to go tour the facility this past weekend to see if we wanted to join. We received a tour and everything is being remodeled which we did not have a problem with. The guy that gave us a tour asked us if we are going to do the couples rate and we said yes but we wanted to think it over for the night. We came back the next day to sign up and they are now telling us we have to be married to receive the couples rate and that there is nothing he could do even though we live together. He told us to come back the next day to talk to a manger to see if he will allow us to sign up under the couples rate. My boyfriend went in to sign us up and he was completely rude and acted like he didn't want our business at all. All of the other gyms in Sioux Falls will let my boyfriend and I have the couples rate if we live together so we will be taking our business to one of those gyms. I have nothing good to say about this gym I would recommend going somewhere else if you enjoy good service.
