Just similar to any normal recreational compound; the manager and the managerial representative seems to be very active. So as the service in most of the times. However, the major problem is the cleanliness. In some of the times, it's smelly, less hygienic, full of dust, sticky, or too slippery. Other than the servicing custodians most of the things seem very cool!

This is a place where you can do your own workout or find just the right group fitness. You can also swim, weight lift, ride the stationary bike or rock climb! If youβre needing extra help, the personal trainers are all awesome! Itβs a great place for wellness!

I guess it's a good time to write a review. I've been going to Jim for the past two months. Jim has the majority of cardio and bodybuilding machines, and when I joined, it was not overcrowded. After the spring break, Jim was very overcrowded between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. It is better to workout between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
You can get a locker to store your pre-workout, post-workout, and supplement items if you work out often. Something I Noticed Here: Students have been using steroids and supplements that contain steroids. They Call It Naturalβdon't follow others, keep your own diet, and stay consistent.

Pretty busy because itβs included with every SDSU studentβs tuition, and only 1 or 2 of certain machines in the whole gym. Expect to wait for specific machines at peak times.
One thing to improve is letting people reserve the racquetball courts at certain times. First come first serve sucks if Iβm making a trip to the gym just to play racquetball.
Also the no open toed shoes rule is dumb. Like I understand that I probably shouldnβt wear flip flops while lifting but that means I canβt play table tennis??

this is an awesome facility i came this past weekend with my older brother and had a blast playing racketbal! my brother said you guys should add more benches for bench pressing. i saw someone with a paddle and got scared because she yelled at the desk people and i thought she was a manager or something, my brother said "shes a mean lady just like the rest of the pickleball ladies and will likely die soon" and does it to them a lot. also the badminton people smell like cows and kept messing with us to move because we were playing badmitten. overall i like the gym and want to come back. just get rid of those mean old hags and the smelly people

Decent equipment, kind of under managed.
Been late to class three times now, they are always cleaning up the locker room and take a minimum of half an hour. Tried to switch my gym times and still they always seem to be in there for subpar cleaning.
They also have a weird way of laying out equipment as youβll sometimes have to walk across the entire center to get to a similar machine.

I go to get one final workout in before I graduate and I am turned away, saying that my membership expired a few days before, but meanwhile the dorms are still open. Good to know SDSU values its graduates. It takes them over a month to fix a cable machine, and they can't clean the locker rooms when the gym is closed from 1-3pm, but they have to do it while the gym is actually open. It is worth paying for a gym membership elsewhere in Brookings on top of tuition, that's how bad this place is.

My GPS said I visited about 2weeks ago, wish I could see that in my figure. Nice counselors for when you want to talk, pharmacy is pretty useful on campus, pool to cool off and equipments & routines to workout with if it's that seriousπ©

Edit: so they added like 6 more squatracks with bumper plates so plenty of places to squat and deadlift now. Good job wellness center staff.
Nowhere near enough weight equipment. One deadlift platform at a university with 12,000 students. My highschool for 500 people had 3.

I'm a community member at the WC. The place can get quite busy during the week nights after 5pm, particularly with student activities. I like the variety of fitness classes, but I'm more inclined to use the free weights for my training. I wish they had trainers readily available to answer quick questions about equipment etc. Though you can hire a trainer if needed. The center has added quite a bit with the expansion, some cool stuff and some stuff I don't know how I'd use in my training. Overall, though, with the access to the pool and the rock wall and so much equipment and space, it's a good deal. And, if you're a veteran or a SDSU staff member, you get a monthly discount.

I use to love this gym, but now they reduced the hours from midnight to 10 pm, they're constantly getting rid of useful gym equipment and not replacing it or fixing it. We need more gym equipment and not more treadmills and bikes. They have also been spotty on sending useful emails to students at the university on updates on the gym such as days they might be closed or changes that might occur in the gym. I honestly would not go to this gym if I did not have a gym pass included with my university tuition.
