Be Strong Health and Fitness was founded to serve Chattanooga, Tennessee with expert level personal training and fitness coaching. We work with our clients based on their individual needs, providing the guidance and coaching needed to meet their goals. We prioritize a practical and sustainable approach through our coaching, and we believe that health and fitness should enhance one’s life regardless of strength or experience level.

I’ve been training with Matthew for almost two months now, and the experience has been incredible. He’s extremely knowledgeable and has a sharp understanding of what muscles need to be activated and strengthened.

I came in with long-term lower back pain from a disc bulge and had been afraid to bend down for years. The improvement since day one has been remarkable. A pain I struggled with on and off for 2–3 years is now significantly better, and I’m finally feeling stronger and more confident in my movement.

Matthew has also been amazing with scheduling- he truly went above and beyond to accommodate my timings, which I really appreciate.

Matthew and all the trainers at Be Strong are excellent. I have had trainers all over the country over the years and what stands out apart from other trainers is their ability to cater specifically to my own needs and goals rather than a cookie-cutter approach, taking into account any injury or limitations and rather than using those as a hindrance, working around them and improving them. The team is great about accountability, encouragement and still pushing you to achieve your goals. Lastly, the attention to detail and great morale are great bonuses.

Be Strong completely changed the game for me!

I chose this place because a friend told me they have the smartest trainers in town. After working with them for a couple of months now, I'm confident that's the truth.

I've mostly worked with Daniel, but all the trainers here are top-notch. They know exactly how to get the most out of my 30 minute workout without pushing me past my limits. As a busy person with a lot of responsibilities, this is really important for me. I need to stay productive, so I can't overdo it and crash.

And while I'm definitely seeing lots of physical improvements already, my biggest measure of success is the amount dread I feel before I leave for the gym. I've tried working with different trainers and doing different programs in the past, but nothing ever stuck because it took everything in me just to put my gym shoes on and get out the door.

But, I've never felt any resistance getting ready to leave for Be Strong. They've made working out almost enjoyable, and as someone who always used to "hate exercising," I can't tell you how HUGE this is for me. I've completely transformed my relationship with my body and with fitness.

For the first time in my life, I feel confident I'll be able to reach my health and fitness goals, and sustain them for many years to come. Thank you Be Strong team!

Since joining Be Strong, I’ve seen a huge difference in my overall strength — it’s honestly been a game-changer. The team at Be Strong is fully equipped both with technology and the "know how" for exactly what you need to meet your fitness goals! I visited the other day and used their Inbody Scan machine to get a specific breakdown of how many calories my body burns at rest, my body fat%, my skeletal muscle mass etc. Basically, it gives tangible data that you can update throughout your personal journey. Sometimes it's hard to see our progress, but their Inbody Scan allows you to grasp your results even if you feel like you aren't making progress! They also have a nutritionist that can help you determine the perfect meal plans for whatever it is your are working towards!

I’m a middle aged woman who started working with Matthew to break through a lifting plateau and to support my other sports. Even in the free assessment it was clear he would be the right coach for me because he saw all my form issues and imbalances and gave a clear, precise explanation for what was going on and how he would help me fix it.

Every session has been awesome. After weeks of stagnation on my own I started immediately progressing. The amount of work we do is just right to get stronger and fix the problems without getting in the way of my other sports. In fact, I’m climbing and running better than ever!

Matthew is also super patient and cheers me up when I’m being hard on myself without making me feel like he’s just saying good job to be nice. The other coaches I’ve met are equally friendly and supportive.

The only critique I have is that I don’t get to see Emmy the gym pup as often as I’d like!

This personal training experience has far exceeded my expectations. Logan and Matt are really knowledgeable and pay close attention to detail and proper mechanics. Because of that I have seen better results in the 2x a week that I work with them than I did doing CrossFit 4x a week for years. Had an awesome workout down here at BeStrong today. Clean facility, up to date equipment, fun atmosphere with uplifting music playing in the background. Because the weather was so good, we pulled the garage up and got some sunlight and fresh air as we worked out. The location is close to downtown which is convince for my work schedule. Matt was encouraging, and is working with me on my goals. Most trainers nowadays will not give you the time of day to work with you on your specific fitness goals. This couldn’t be further from the truth down here at BeStrong. Their trainers are knowledgeable and have great attitudes which is hard to find these days. They also have a Body scanner which was super cool, this showed my weight, body fat percentage and other metrics that are helpful in one’s fitness journey. Overall excellent experience today and am already planning to go back tomorrow! See you soon! 💪🏽

Logan is an outstanding trainer. I’ve struggled with chronic lower back and knee pain and have seen myriad professionals in search of relief. Logan’s initial assessment was by far the most helpful I’ve found.

He paid such careful attention, always starting with gentle movements, asking for consent in contact, and continual requesting my feedback throughout each exercise. He taught me more about my injuries than 15 sessions of physical training, two osteopathic manipulations, numerous dry needling and acupuncture visits, various massage body workers, and a neurologist.

12/29/23 update: I've been going to see Matt at Be Strong Fitness for quite some time now. I'm 64 years old and have been a runner for years... not just 5k events, but marathons and ultramarathons as well... most notably the Vol State 500K Road Race back in 2015. If you've read the book "Younger Next Year" (and you should), you'll know that you have to work on fitness MORE as you get older, not less! Anyway, I've worked with a couple personal trainers during my life, and I have to say that Matt is by far the best and worth every penny. Not only will he make you stronger, he knows exactly how to work with you if you're a beginner, if you're injured, or if you have a health condition. I just can't say enough good things about him, so see for yourself. I very highly recommend him.

Last year's review: My first appointment with Matt was last night after work, and I was favorably impressed by his knowledge and what he said he could do to improve my strength and fitness. I'm an older runner, so that's what I'm after... and he's a runner too, so he understands. This is a great gym for those who want a really focused and dedicated training regimen to either get back into shape, or looking to get into shape for the first time ever. What sets this place apart from lots of other chain gyms, personal trainers, or individual classes, is the option for great personalized training with the team. Matt and Taylor have been working with me in three 30 minute sessions a week and their guidance has helped me finally begin working on some issues in building strength and flexibility that have nagged me for years. I've worked with trainers in the past, but never with ones who are as capable as this team because they make a point of getting to know you, pay attention to every detail of a person's issues.

For example, I've had a left hip that's not been able to open up for YEARS. Matt and Taylor identified this (along with my tight hamstrings) and have taken me through a series of exercises and stretches that targeted these areas. When I couldn't quite perform the exercises they gave me a great series of modifications. For the first time in 30+ years or so, I'm starting to get some marked flexibility into that hip, relief of constant pain in my lower back, strengthening my overall body, and showing (and feeling) that growth in strength and flexibility.

I'm writing this as someone who has put his own well-being and physical practice aside in the service of others. It IS a financial investment (a really REASONABLY priced one at this gym), but I can't stress enough how much this gym has helped me. Please know I had NO knowledge of this place before coming here. I didn't know anyone involved with it, and just found it doing a random internet search. On a lark I called, got in touch with Matt and began a journey I'm planning on continuing for some time. It's one of the best things I decided to do for myself. The gym is a welcome break from 8 to 14 hour days at work, and those 30 minutes three times a week have been a time to physically AND mentally recalibrate for myself.

There's also the option of group classes. Saturdays there's a great one at 9am that I've enjoyed attending a couple of times. I'm hoping more people join this gym so that the group class offerings can expand on the weekdays. Currently there's a class at 5:30. My schedule as an educator and director of theater don't allow me to leave work until about 5:45 so I can't quite do those. If there's one selfish thing I want for this gym is more people so late day classes can happen.

It really is an amazing place to train, focus (without any distractions), and grow. Give the gym a call, take a brief tour, and find out yourself if you can.

Today was my first time doing group fitness at be strong. I was impressed with the quality of the circuit-training workout spanning the timeframe of 30-45min: it was challenging, but doable. A great way to start the weekend off - Great burn! The quality of the equipment was outstanding! The coaches were knowledgeable and motivational: giving feedback on form, engaging core, and increasing weight. The workout group was diverse, with a contagious positive energy - focussed, with a component of lightheartedness I appreciated - it felt like a community workout. I learned some knew workouts and made some new connections. Here at Be Strong Health and Fitness, the team is one of a kind! They believe in equipping people to be the healthiest they can be with lasting results (using effective health and wellness tools). They are super accessible - located just outside of Finley Stadium. Listening to him speak about walking in GOD given Purpose, I immediately knew that it was a Divine appointment for me to train with him.

For years I kept saying I’m going to get back in shape. I even went and joined many gyms. All were intimidating, very little help from staff and extremely overwhelming to me. So I honestly just continued to push my fitness goal back. That was until neighbor invited me to her workout class. From the second I walked in I was greeted and introduced to other members that were there. Once the class started I was unsure how to do a lot and the Instuctor Gestner without hesitation helped me and I soon felt confident in what I was doing. I then said you know what what’s one more membership? Since joining I have been helped by both Gesnter and the owner Matthew. They are great at what they do and especially with making me feel comfortable in what I’m doing as well as showing me how to do the workouts properly. Honestly joining the Be Strong family has been one of the best invest I have made for myself.

I signed on as a client of Be Strong Health and Fitness in September 2020. My weight loss journey prior to Be Strong had been full of ups and downs and disappointments...so I was somewhat skeptical that this time would be any different. But, I was willing to try again.
Upon my initial visit with Matthew Sheets, I found him to be very knowledgeable about training, assuring me that he could specifically design a regimen that would help me to achieve my fitness goals. What set him apart from other Trainers was his compassion for my struggle, and as the journey began and progressed....his commitment to his word to help me regain my health was true.
As I write this post, my achievement so far...I am down 40lbs!! I can hardly believe the positive changes I see. My strength, posture balance and overall appearance is sooo much better....not to mention my confidence. Sooo many compliments from friends and family on the new me!
