I really enjoyed it here, but I signed up on September 26th for $148 and only got to come one time before they tried to charge me another $140 on October 1st. I talked to several employees telling me that shouldnβt have happened but still resulted in me canceling my membership.

I'm a lifelong swimmer and never have issues with chlorine, but YMCA must have their levels way off. It was overpowering, and I had a significant reaction to it with eye, nasal, and respiratory irritation after just 40 minutes.
Front desk was little help. Please check your levels are at a safe and appropriate level.

Clarksville Area YMCA will protect you and your property inside and outside the building. I had an accident on the parking lot and the crew stepped in in no time! Assisted in any way they could. Thank you, Y-crew, for making us feel welcomed and secure.

I love the YMCA and it has helped me get healthier and recover strength and full mobility to my legs. Staff and instructors are excellent and encouraging. It is a safer place to work and swim because staff is well trained and react quickly in case of emergencies. I have used the therapy pool and water aerobics to get healthier!

I've been to many places here in Clarksville and I enjoy the Y the best out of all the ones I've been to. This staff is very courteous and friendly and the facilities services are clean and in great working condition all the time. Many of the other members are very courteous and Cooperative with the use of all the equipments and services.

I got treated badly by Michael. I was going to let my kids 2 year old and 12 year old set in a play room while I changed swiming clothes and I seen Michael a worker staring at them. He said the have to set at the table. I told him my 2 year old was a runner and would not set and he was rude about it and didn't care to listen. I had to leave. I just joined and paid 145.00. Horrible experience. Avoid this YMCA.

The whole atmosphere of the Y is warm and welcoming from the inspiring music, the friendly staff, and the sense of positivity. Every age group is well represented and there is something for everyone to do regardless of physical ability. The classes are varied from palates to water aerobics, Zumba dance to Spinning classes, Barr classes to Core strength training. There is such a wide variety of fitness programs so anyone can find an activity that suits their needs. I also like the wide selection of free weights as well as Cybex machines for strength building. Cybex is the most ergonomically correct fitness brand produced so you get the best results. Other members seem to just be glad that you are there without the pressure of living up to someone else's athletic standard. Of all the gyms and fitness programs I've ever joined, the Y is absolutely my favorite!

*Year later update*
They have upped the price with no change to anything. The sauna now requires you to take your shoes off, and itβs in the pool area, so prepare to have wet socks unless you bring slides or flip flops. Itβs not extremely packed, more than before, you will be changing your routine for weightlifting as most things will be taken unless you come at like 1:00pm or some weird time. Absolutely not worth it, luckily we are moving.
Place is overly packed and the pool is always closed cause they canβt keep lifeguards.

This is not a place for anyone under the age of 70 with any real fitness goals. It is constantly WAY over crowded with the absolute minimal amount of machines which are also outdated. You can only use the back room for a workout when there isnβt a class, even if youβre not interrupting the class or using any of the same equipment. Even then, there are no mirrors in this room, and you have to walk through the pickle ball court which is also constantly crowded. There are approximately 500 rules that have no purpose. I would LOVE to go to ANY other gym with childcare. Unfortunately there are none in the Sango area that offer it. Stuck going to this terrible over priced place until something else opens in the area.

I LOVE THE YMCA but this locations management is awful! Itβs so bad that it feels like they are purposely running this branch into the ground. They will cancel and drop classes without telling anyone, pool is always closed, cut child care hours with no notifications. Most of the workers here are amazing and we love them, unfortunately the the Branch manager them is ruining the location.

First experience @ the Y is for swim lessons for my child. The communication is horrible. When we got to the pool area; I had no idea where the lessons would be because all the pools were occupied. I only figured it out because there was a young girl with a clipboard. No announcement, no introductions by the instructors, no nothing...had I not saw the young girl we would have been sitting around still guessing.
There are several kids with only one instructor which has the kids sit on the side of the pool longer than they are in it. And there are several things going on at once...in the same pool as the lessons. They could get alot more accomplished with more than one instructor and access to the entire pool. Additionally if they cancel class, don't expect them to call or notify you...you just have to drive there and find out for yourself. Whomever the lady making the decision was not particularly friendly and didn't seem to care that anyone was inconvenienced.

Fourth Y I've been a member of and it's a shame how this one compares to the others.
Amenities are nice and the "boots on the ground" level staff are great. 5 stars for the clarksville locals.
The "decision makers" gets zero stars. Between cutting classes (the already small number that this Y has), annual rate increases, allowing private businesses (looking at you scuba folks) access to facilities above patrons, and cutting childcare hours, it's like they want us to switch gyms. I mean seriously, why do our rates go up and amenities go down?
Cutting childcare hours is a shame for the working class. Sundays are gone, Friday evenings were some of the only times we could make it early enough to be worth it and they're gone. It's only beneficial to stay-at-home parents and those who can get off of work early (or go in late enough) to utilize it.
Lastly, an ice machine would be nice since none of the water filters are chilled.

The place is run like a ponzi scheme. If you're there for the pool don't even bother. I was a member here for almost 2 years and I was denied access to the pool more times than I was granted access to the pool (went almost every day). They purposely withhold this info because they need your money. I even call in before I ever went just to make sure and would get a yeah it is open during open swim hours of course and then come in and it wasn't open! I put in all the time, I even go out of my way to do their job for them and ask specific questions is there a swim team is there because if I don't ask 20 specific questions about who might or may not be using that pool I will get a generic go away yes it's fine and I will show up and it won't be that way hell I'll even ask the 20 questions and still get it.. I give them my money and they can't even tell me whether or not the pool is operational for real. And then when you go to complain they say oh yeah we should be fixing it we just got new hires we just got this that it'll be fixed to keep you from canceling oh and if you try to cancel they will really start throwing out these Buzz words. It's all fake designed to keep hope alive and keep you paying monthly so they can keep pocketing that money. I have to go in and hope I get what I paid for and more times than not I'm left feeling very disappointed in this companies ethics. This is not a one-off experience this is a pattern that is institutional in this place because the leadership is clearly ambiguous with their ethics. I would go there and pay a daily rate to use the pool when it's actually available but it's so hard to catch it available and they turned me away saying I had to be a monthly member. I guess they don't want my money so I'll be going to the Clarksville athletic club from now on where the pool is always available and they don't double dip on the lanes with their members. This place needs all new management and policy in order to fix the pool situation

Our first experience with this Y was today. Signed up for child swim classes. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were informed that not only was the class for the day canceled but all 4 classes would be cancelled due to pool renovations. The staff at the front were very apologetic but still a frustrating situation. Im leaving a 1 star review because when a class (especially with kids) is completely cancelled, parents should be notified prior to the day/time of the class. No email or call was provided prior to the start time of the class. Other parents walking in were in the same situation as well. I had planned my day/month trips around this class. I will likely not return to the Y.
Update: Just received a call asking if Iβd like to reschedule or get a credit. No apology whatsoever about the inconvenience or lack of communication. I asked for a refund since we will not be returning. An apology from the person calling to reschedule in this situation should be standard protocol. Thatβs the professional way to communicate. I will be sharing my experience with other families that have children.

If you are using the pool for rehab or exercise I do not recommend here. There are 5 lanes and 2 are closed at random times for the slide even though there are no children or they are in school. Wait time is at least 15 to 20 minutes to swim. The best time might be between 1pm to 3pm but wait...They're closed. I'm considering canceling membership

This YMCA has an extremely friendly staff and a very warm atmosphere. The childcare is amazing and the facilities are kept clean. Most patrons are very friendly. There are a few confrontational patrons however significantly lower than most gyms. This is a prime location for families especially if you are wanting to avoid the bar-like gym atmosphere.

The gym etiquette is non-existent. The employees that work out there are treated with different standards. If you speak up they will treat you even worse. On of their employees who works out there walked into my power rack to grab weights while I was lifting heavy and almost made me slip and hurt myself. This same person also continually is grabbing weights in using and when asked to stop she continued. They say negative things about me and other patrons out on the weight floor. Both the managers do not seem to care about this and honestly we are tired of it. The child care is great but the gym floor manager and their employees are Terrible. If I thought it would do any good I would continue to mention it but they do not care. I would not recommend this gym at all until these managers start to control their employees that work out there.

4.28.22 Still, therapy pool presents as dirty. Itβs a daily gamble whether the hot tub, steam room is working and more importantly the pool hours are not honoured as they canβt keep employees nor can they find life guards to be on time. Itβs one thing to post ahead the hours that can be honoured. I am tired of showing up to wait and wait for a service I pay for. After all this time, there should be a backup plan. Floor people should lifeguard until the ones that are supposed to be there show up or come up with a plan. Everything is at the Y seems to be ok but the pool area/lifeguard situation is abysmal.

Friendly staff, super clean facilities, variety of class offerings. Love that the Y is community-focused and all community members are welcome.
Still a 5-star review! Updating comments because there are just so many great things to say about our local YMCA.
The 7am Tue/Th HIIT class with Daphne is AMAZING! Small class size & knowledgeable, engaging instructor. Yes, this class costs a little extra⦠but it is most definitely worth it. Class is challenging every session, is never dull or the same. Attentive support to correct form & to individual modifications to meet the abilities of participants. Thanks Daphne, for making the class something I personally look forward to every week. I walk out feeling strong & empowered & mentally clear every single time!
Functional Fitness classes are also amazing & challenging, just a bit more crowded. The one hour stretch & foam roll class with Maura on Saturdays is also wonderful & such a boost both mentally and physically.
Thanks Clarksville YMCA!!
