Tyler was so great with my kids. They had a blast, and more importantly, they were taught important safety info. The gym feels very safe and friendly. Highlight of our trip to Nashville.

Climb Nashville... It use to be such an amazing place. You would walk in, know the name of almost every employee that was there, say hi to some people you saw at Fosters the weekend before, and walk right up to your lead project on the 45. The entire night was full of hanging out with friends and getting tips from employees that you respected (cause you saw them projecting that 12 at the Obed a few weeks before). This experience lasted for years, and it is what I kept hoping for again whenever I would walk back into the gym.

Fast forward to today... If you can find a parking spot, it is your lucky day! You walk in and are shocked that, yet again, you do not recognize the face of any employee. What is even the point at learning their names? They will be gone soon. You walk through the mosh pit of college students that overwhelmingly crowd the space almost every night. Don't even try to get on a top rope route. You will be in line for a bit. And fingers crossed that the lead wall isn't too slammed. But when you tie in for your first lead, the employee (that almost certainly has never laid hands on real rock before) comes to correct your knot. In fairness, it is the second or third time an employee has done this, but at this point, tying a knot is just muscle memory and you forget that the Yosemite finish is apparently witch craft at this location. You don't recognize anyone anymore. All of the good employees that you once enjoyed have all left cause they can make more doing literally anything else, and the place is so crowded and loud that your belayer can't even hear you yell "Falling!".

I get that climbing has become popular, and I am happy that CN is doing well. I just wish that they would have catered a little more to their long term members and not as much to the first time visitor. Like most chain places, a new competitor will come along and make this place obsolete and the cycle will start over. I am just sad that my old happy place is no longer that.

I canceled my membership a while ago because of these issues. I probably won't ever get one here again.

If you are just wanting to try out climbing, CN is a good place to go. If you are a seasoned climber, it might be a good time to start pooling money with your friends to start your own gym.

Was concerned by some reviews, but I thought it was a really great time, never climbed before but I’m interested in continuing it. Manager and staff were friendly and helpful. I’ll be looking into a membership soon hopefully. Hoping they will continue to facilitate a helpful and friendly environment!

Today after a brief time off, I come back and see new routes and think oh boy, how exciting it is to climb some new routes and enjoy what I pay nearly 100 bucks a month in. However that is completely not the case. I’m instead discovering the entire auto-belay wall is covered in blood smears, blood skid marks, and spots where holds were are not even remotely cleaned after. The walls, the gym, the holds, everything is this gym is minimally a straight up health violation and hazard.

I’m not particularly interesting in catching herpes or a damn infection due to the lack of maintaince, care, professionalism, or just β€œlack” of care your staff feels they don’t need to have. To expresses the lack of care, I spoke to one of the managers on duty today, and asked if the staff or him just doesn’t care.

He said β€œya pretty much, unless it’s a big mess ya it’s whatever. I’m paid 14 an hour as a manager and the staff is 11, they don’t care and the owner doesn’t care so it’s just what it is.”

The fact the managers are absolutely lack luster in all categories now is just embarrassing, disappointing, unprofessional and down right disgusting. The fact they have zero issue coming to work to just let the damn skid mark stay on the wall for weeks and let people climb through that is horrid. He even encouraged me to make a google review to let my opinion be known. If I can make it be known how much they don’t care, and how much yall just love to roll around in the filth of Nashville, let this be the notice before you even think of putting your hands near a wall.

On this day as well, a 20+ kid birthday party was going on while I was expressing concern of the cleanliness and said kids don't even need to be close to the walls with the state it in. Long story short I watched 20 something kids run as fast as they could to play and touch all over the skid marks and grime this gym is so proud to display.

My husband and I went here after not having climbed in years, and it was a lot of fun. The day pass comes with the harness and shoe rental. The staff were very friendly, and they give you a little auto belay lesson before you’re set free. The first floor is all bouldering and manual belay. The second floor is all the auto belay climbs, which were all different levels of difficulty. We were told by several people that the routes are changed pretty often!

A very grand and impressive belay climbing gym. I came here with my friends and we found plenty of climbs for beginners and experts.

It's a much larger and busier gym than climb east, but at the same time it offers lots more.

There is a minimal amount of bouldering here in comparison to lead and belay, but still a good amount. There are also short auto delays on the mezzanine.

The staff was very nice and I was able to get belay certified easily. Sadly, I have no photos but the other reviews will do justice πŸ‘

One of the staff (Harvey) is extremely rude and cuts into people’s conversations. Refusing to do his job because of β€œshort staff” but literally sits at the front desk flirting with his female coworker. Been a member at this gym on and off since 2014 and will be canceling my membership.

They seem to overbook their gym in alignment with events, so there's always kids running around, and your event guests have to wait awhile for the easy belays. It would be better if they reserved a few easy ones for events.

We had a great time! Even as total beginners. Everyone was so friendly and it’s a relaxed atmosphere. Natalie did a wonderful job teaching us everything on our first visit. She answered all of our questions and spent about half an hour with us so we felt comfortable going out in our own by the end. We also discovered that if someone is only belaying, they do not charge for that person.

We will definitely be back!

Unclear how a climb gym costs this much without basic exercise equipment. No functioning treadmill across all the sites. There was one of the four that worked here at the west site but now none. As a climbing gym it’s good if there’s nothing else and you’ve never been to another city.

I realize it’s a climbing gym, but man it smells like a hockey bag in there 😳 We had a large group and there was some confusion w/waivers…sign online…sounds easy, but you also have to confirm your email so it’s a two-step process. Some of our kids needed to sit out until they contacted their parents to β€˜accept’ the email from Climb in order to have a complete waiver.

My wife and I have been members for 7 years now, with a 1 year hiatus while we were out west. Generally speaking the gyms are decent, but there has been a very noticeable decline in overall quality in recent years. The somewhat recent addition of the more modern Murfreesboro and Kraft gyms has been nice. When we initially became members, costs were reasonable, staff friendly (and generally retained), setting was good with quality holds and it was not overly crowded. I have sadly seen all of these aspects deteriorate however.

Membership costs have become completely unreasonable. At $90 plus taxes, plus an absolutely ridiculous money grab initiation fee of another $90, I had to seriously think twice about even re-initiating my membership when we returned from out of town last fall. I contacted Climb and asked if I could at least get the initiation fee waived, as we had been continuous members from 2017-2022, including donating fees for months through the Covid closures. The answer was an immediate, resounding no, without even acknowledgement of anything in my request. We waited until the January sale to start our membership to avoid the fee, while being lucky enough to have plenty friends with guest passes in the remaining months of '23. Today I requested to add my brother who lives with us to join our family membership, which I have been told by at least 3 different staff members would not be a problem. Apparently a "family membership" actually means 2 adults and dependent children only, thus requiring an additional 90+90 fee for him, resulting in $275/mo for us not including fees. We will just use our guest passes.

It would be really nice if staff retention could be a little higher, perhaps something about minimum wage pay... Having a completely new set of faces every few months is unfortunate. Generally speaking, I have had more rude/unfriendly/unpleasant interactions with staff members than positive (except Chase, give that man a raise). A more stable and motivated team would undoubtedly contribute to a more positive atmosphere.

Recently there seems to be a heavy push towards "aesthetic" looking climbs; routes with volumes and colors that coordinate or make patterns, or interesting shapes. Perhaps this is to attract new members, or entertain children, but a focus on quality climbing movement instead of how to make all the red and purple rectangles overlap nicely would be much appreciated. Additionally, having a dyno finish on half or more of the lead climbs is unpleasant at best. Also please clean the holds, many many of them are dirty and greasy.

Lastly, the gym is basically unusable between the hours of 6-8pm. Though this is obviously not easy to fix, there is insufficient parking and severe overcrowding at west. Staying open until 11pm would be a good start.

Overall it is really too bad that the monopolization of climbing in Nashville is leading to a drastic reduction in quality. What once was a friendly local gym is now a chain that seems more focused on profits than the well-being and satisfaction of its long time members. It's disheartening to see a lack of flexibility or recognition for loyal, long-term members.

[EDIT:]
After speaking to the GM at Kraft (who was very understanding and friendly), the family membership issues have been resolved.

Just wanting to give shine to the staff at Climb west who do a great job. Having taken the time to actually get to know them has shown me that they really do care about the customer experience and work hard to keep people safe and having fun.

Special shout out to the morning group that wakes up early to get the gym open on time for all of us. Adam is a serious bright spot although he needs to change up the playlist every once in a while!

The setters work really hard to bring us new climbs nearly every single day and they are more than willing to discuss their thought process with anyone who is curious. Now with the core group of Zach Will and Hayley hitting their stride, I am so excited to see the ideas they have in the future.

Anyone who actually takes the time to become part of the community knows that this place is run well and is a place to come back to.

Had been here over 3 years ago a few times and back then the West location was known for having hateful staff(my experience and others as well) and cliques. Recently switched to Climb gyms when Kraft opened up and haven't noticed the staff being hateful at all. I go to Kraft mostly but whenever I go to West, the staff is always professional towards me and everyone else I see them interact with so that's a nice change. There are 2 reasons for the rating:
1: People sitting down in front of the bouldering area with their legs stretched out(sometimes even laying down) making it a hazard. One time when I fell my head almost landed on someone's knee. This was a problem years ago and doesn't look like it has gotten better.
2: People doing laps on auto-belays even when there's other climbers waiting for their turn. Last Sunday late afternoon when it was busy there was a clique doing laps while everyone else had to just wait for those climbs. This is not uncommon. It's not just the cliques but also individual climbers and that keeps the rest of us from getting our volume in. If Climb can get people to unclip and walk off the mats in between each attempt that would help the rest of us. Every now and then you'll also have cliques or individuals take over a small section of the bouldering wall and treat it like outdoor boulders not letting anyone else take turns.

So basically the employee conduct has gotten a lot better but the climbers aspect is still a problem. I don't know how they would get people to stop being loud when they're in a group but at least figure out a way to get them to share the climbs. When people are being loud you can always just put some ear plugs in but when they're not letting everyone else get a turn on the climbs it ends up wasting our time. There's other minor issues like people talking to you in the middle of the set in the lifting area and leaving their equipment out when they're done but that doesn't happen much plus it looks like lifting gym culture everywhere else these days. There's also the youth climbers situation where they take over sections and not let everyone else get a turn. Doesn't seem to be much supervision anytime the kids climbing teams are there. I understand that the gym makes a lot of money from group training but everyone else's time matters also.
Overall this location has improved a lot but the people problem still needs a lot more work.
Will update this review if anything changes.

We had a good time the other day on our first visit. Orientation was concise and informative. The facility is really nice. The staff seem to know what they're doing and seem to enjoy the job. Lots of stuff to do, and the place is built to handle lots of people and lots of different skill levels. They allow toddlers, which is a huge plus, as our daughter is athletically inclined but isn't allowed to climb at most places due to her age. Prices seem reasonable. I wish we lived closer so we could take advantage of the membership. I wish they had some ropes (the 1.5" kind) or some Ninja Warrior style obstacles like filled cargo nets to climb. Monkey bars, rope ladders, etc. Weirdest thing was a lot of their merchandise in the shop had no prices posted on them. Are they for sale, or just for show? Weird, right? The only thing I didn't care for is the staff are allowed to put stickers on their name badges showing which minorities or controversial groups they align with. Poor policy, but that's just my opinion. Give this place a try. I know we'll be back.

I've been a member of this gym for over 3 years now and the gym has gotten progressively dirtier, more unsafe, and generally worse overall. It's been so frustrating because there are a lot of people in the community that care and have given feedback. And there are staff who deeply care. However, actions for years show the owners don't care about the climbing community or paying members at all and are simply in it for the profits this gym makes. If there was a competitor gym closer to me, I would cancel my membership in a heartbeat.

They pay the staff terribly ($10/hr), which leads to poor retention and badly trained staff who don't monitor safety or care. I've had staff members step on or under my rope while lead belaying and give me and other people grief for asking the super loud music to be turned down so I could actually communicate with my climber among sooo many other examples. There are definitely awesome staff who care, but it's not the majority.

Another example is the fact that the gym has turned into a daycare over the last couple of years, which has significantly contributed to safety issues. They recently started allowing children of all ages at the bouldering gyms despite repeated and consistent feedback from members disliking what a free for all the gyms already were for kids. We've been asking for some regulation and fairness for other paying members, but nothing has changed. They simply don't care in disguise of a "welcoming and inclusive community" aka more profits and they covered their tracks with "insurance" and "waivers". Now there are literal toddlers at the previously all/mostly adult bouldering gyms during peak hours. Do average parents watch them and teach them proper climbing etiquette? No. Do the staff? No. So it's just a disaster waiting to happen.

The holds are NEVER cleaned between settings. The bathroom showers and workout area are unsanitary. I had to tell a staff member that one of their shower curtains was completely covered in black mold, which would have been very easily noticed if they cleaned regularly. There are dried blood spots on the walls that have been there for years at this point. I've never seen anyone deep clean anything here and it shows. The walls used to be more grey than brown, but not anymore. There are not enough air filters either, so when the gym is crowded it is hazy with chalk.

Sadly, for close to $100 a month this gym is not worth it and it's been such a bummer to see the experience degrade over the years. The amenities are subpar compared to competitors in the region and across the country. All this is really sad considering how many awesome people come to this gym, work at this gym, and care, but since the owners don't this gym continues to degrade in value and community. Special shout out to the amazing setters that work here and keep making me come back.

If the owners are open to feedback and make changes to improve the situation, I think the gyms would be a lot more successful and a happier place to be overall. I really hope that happens, but I am not getting my hopes up.

I love this place. When I first moved to Nashville I had three of my birthday parties here and always enjoyed repelling down the wall when I was younger. Now that I’m older, I appreciate the opportunity that I can climb almost every day. I just started to get serious after a couple of years on and off. Climb Nashville West is a great place to get started and to make connections around you. It is so easy to get in for members(and non members as well) just a scan in with your card and your done! I can spend hours in here and always have the cafe place to rest for a little bit. They have a Donut bouldering Competition on November 14th at their new Kraft location, if you want something goofy!(you have to wear an inner tube to climb!)

Honestly it’s a cool place but I’ve gotten screwed with the membership too many times and sick of feeling ripped off. The gym is filled with kid groups that dominate the walls in the afternoon and the their Climb Employee Instructors are rude and could care less. Literally let them run around running into people, under climbers, and will leave them on the same auto belay for 10+ minutes. It’s a day care the last 5 times I’ve gone and The cardio equipment works only part of the time and open gym is always being shutdown. So at this point why go? The fees and charges are not clearly communicated and the β€œfreeze at anytime” means after you pay $90 initial you have to pay a $11 freeze fee that is never mentioned until you fill out the freeze form. Bad vibes.

Wonderful experience, staff was so kind and thoughtful explaining to me and my two children- I wish I remembered his name, maybe Caleb? Long brown hair, with a ponytail and an AMAZING SPIRIT! He was patient enthusiastic and it’s clear that he actively loves what he does at Climb! We will be back from his kindness alone! Thank youπŸ’›

Be aware, they do not like to share closure plans with much notice, and often no notice. Between kids parties, summer camps, competitions, rearranging, and other internal reasons, I'm not able to use the gym as planned about 1/4 of the time. Please, please share your closure schedule. Someone has to know it -share it, please! A shrug and "check instagram?" isn't good messaging, and undermines community. It must be frustrating to be a front line worker and have to navigate these so frequently with no notice.

The staff are friendly and fairly helpful. They're pretty busy to help with belaying but most of the climbs have the self belay equipment. The climbs are well designed for all experience levels. Good place for kids and adults. The price is $25, Good for one or two people, but obviously adds up quickly if you're taking a large group. Most recreational climbers, will be done by 3 climbs, so about 30 minutes tops.

Have climbed for a long time and the west location of all the β€œclimb” gyms is definitely the best one to go to if you want an all-encompassing climbing experience. East (and soon Kraft) are boulder only and Murfreesboro is in my opinion the nicest but too far outside of Nashville for daily trips and West is great as my home gym as it has both roped and bouldering. The community is incredibly kind, the staff are all great and the setting/climbs themselves always are top notch. There are yoga classes galore and a workout room as well to maximize fitness as well. Overall a great establishment and gym, would highly recommend for anyone looking to start climbing or regulars who live in the area.

Good setting on some of the routes. The holds were incredible grimey on a lot of the boulders and routes and detracted from the fun movement.
Friendly staff and efficient belay test to get on top ropes.

One of the best climbing gyms I've been to (and I've been to 50+ gyms in the US, Europe, and Asia over the pats 25 years). There is some room for improvement here and there, but I'll give it 5 stars overall.

Usually don’t write reviews but people should know the limitations before getting a membership. Used to love the facilities and have never had a problem before summer. The kids summer camp staff have kicked me out of the upstairs workout room while I was mid workout over 6 times in the past month, and they overtake the entire 2 upstair floor areas daily. Staff were extremely rude about it when I asked to be able to finish my workout. Would not recommend a membership in the summer if you’re trying to do anything on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the gym.

Before i start: I live in salt lake city and climb indoors and out 5-6 days a week. I climb 8a outdoors. Now onto the review.

I was traveling through Nashville and decided to pop in to hopefully get a quick session in for training purposes while I'm here. Well it was definitely quick. This place is simply not a good climbing gym for actual climbers. The routes are for the most part extremely easy, or unrealistic and contrived. The route setting is frustrating and unsatisfying, relying entirely on being greasy and cryptic for difficulty.

Most of the gym is taken up by very easy routes and a giant kids area. The amount of interesting things in a somewhat difficult grade is maybe 3. No joke. The auto belays top out at 5.9.

On top of that, it's dirty, dim and unfriendly, charging $27 for a day pass at one of the most un-fun facilities I've been to in the states. I regret coming here and feel sad that this location is squandered by people who don't seem to know anything about climbing.

I would honestly just avoid this gym and it's east side location entirely and train at a normal gym if you are traveling through. If you live here, spend time outside. This gym is only suitable for the most casual of interested climbers and children.

The other reviews Claiming ten auto belays are an outright lie. Nothing even close to that

I tried Climb for several months before getting a membership, and I really liked it. But, a couple months into my membership, the easier top rope routes almost completely disappeared, and were replaced with auto belay. The ones upstairs remained, but I think they've been replaced with auto now as well. Personally, I completely prefer top rope when learning because I can rest midway and focus without having to completely restart. A mix of both top rope and auto on the 5.5-5.7 routes would've been great. What kept me coming after that letdown was the yoga class with Lisa. I also want to say some of the staff are very unwelcoming, and even passive aggressive sometimes. Really strange, I don't know what the point of that would be. Anyways, today was the last proverbial straw. I wanted to use the workout room on the top floor after yoga, but was basically shooed out by an employee because he wanted to mop the floor and close the room for the night. I asked him if I could just have 15 minutes and he told me I'd have to go to the weight room, which was and always is full of men slamming down weights. I understand if I missed the memo about that room needing to close at a certain time, but I can't make an excuse anymore paying $90 a month for this place...especially when I can't use a completely empty workout room while the other one is full. Anyways, I hope someone reads this and cares. If not, oh well. Thanks.

You guys need to train your staff better on your in house policies. I called in to put my account on hold months ago to take a break from the gym and the staff member just asked my name and said he'd take care of it. Apparently you have to go online to do it but that was not communicated as it should've been. There was then months of accruing charges after that. Fast forward a few months and it became a whole annoying to do contacting people all the way up to the GM to get my account back in good order so I could climb again.

REPLY: We DID NOT come to a consensus. I acquiesced to y'all's demands and coughed up a bunch of money I shouldn't have had to should your staff known your policies and had done their job on educating the customer. If I didn't have friends I climb with there, I'd be going to the Crag instead.

Wouldn't book a child's birthday party because I was 1 day late for their required 2 week window in booking online. Was told to email them and via email reply they told me they couldn't help me even though the website clearly shows availability, because they couldn't "accommodate staffing" (even though we don't really need 3 staff members for our little group - most of us adults have climbing experience) - its sad/telling that they dont have enough staff and have to book that far in advance. After reading reviews just now about how filthy their gym is here recently, it appears to be a blessing in disguise anyway. We'll take our business elsewhere. And when we climb again in the future, it won't be here.

It was a great time amd would definitely go back. Instruction was pretty thorough and staff was very friendly. They did offer belay lessons but there were enough auto-belays to keep things interesting. The routes were pretty great and appropriately challenging for beginners and some more advanced routes we didn't even bother trying. There's a bouldering section and an entire half of the gym for normal belay. It was pretty crowded but it worked out great to give your arms a break.

This is my first time leaving a review but I believe it will be fruitful for people interested in trying this gym.

Pretty decent gym with some nice setting. And a friendly bunch of climbers.

Unfortunately, I had a pretty negative experience right off the bat. I was met with the employee, Sara, who made it seem like interacting with me was a waste of her time.

The other staff members seemed pretty friendly, so I might be biased, but my experience with her really turned me off.

From purchasing a day pass through the orientation, she had an attitude that made me feel unwelcomed. It's a shame she left such a bad taste in my mouth after meeting so many amazing people here in Nashville.

The gym overall was pretty stuffy. In terms of space and the smell of chalk was pretty overwhelming.

Thankfully, the others climbing at the gym showed me nothing but kindness.

If I were to come to Nashville again, I would either stick to the Crag or try the other location for bouldering.

I think the employees at a rock gym are crucial for providing guests a safe and fun experience. As a climber, I feel ashamed for the way I was treated. Because it's likely that I was not the only person that received attitude from Sara, and was treated with such disregard. How do they expect to build community if they are rude to their guests? πŸ™

Lack luster wall climbing gym experience... Some of the staff is friendly, whereas other staff members are rude, unfriendly, and even more so unprofessional to the point that they will demand you to take off your safety harness when bouldering, even if you are taking a break from the other activities. No other gym has made me take off my safety harness, and I've been all across America's rock climbing gyms. The Auto Belay is sketchy as well, it is loose and it doesn't have a second hook carabineer and will drop you a few feet before it catches. The weightlifting area also lacks the proper equipment, and isn't well maintained by the staff. The parking is also pretty bad especially for any Tesla owners.. In all, I have to give it a 1 out of 5 stars due to the unprofessionalism and the bad atmosphere and the bad vibe the staff give out.. I would've gave it a 0 out of 5, but Google wouldn't let me...
