I wanted to share an update on my year at CrossFit Spring Hill. I’ve lost over 30 pounds and I’m not the only one that has success stories like me. Being at CrossFit Spring Hill has changed so much about myself and my family. We are making healthier decisions and fitness has become part of our daily life. What the owners Joe and CJ created is something special it’s not about how much you can lift , it’s about showing up and getting fitter and healthier for everyday life. You’ll be amazed on what you can accomplish with the help of the community and all the coaches!
Austin is involved from start to finish. He pays attention to every person and gives corrections when needed, along with praise when you’re hitting the mark. He makes you feel welcomed, you want to push yourself… you feel confident that you can!

Class was a ton of fun today. We had some coaches participating in the class as well and love hearing the coach coaching other coaches. It's just a great reminder of how experienced you are, no one is perfect, and we all need reminders of technique and form. Nicole is so patient with everyone and really take the time to coach one on one when it's needed. I would also probably pass out if she constantly didn't remind me to breath during skill work 🤣

I’ve been a member since November 2024. In those last 5 months, I have definitely been humbled…more than a few times (everytime). Today I completed 3 handstand push ups. When I started, I could hardly hold myself up. I went in with a silent ego, and I definitely upsold my strength.
Today, I’m getting better, stronger, and more humble every time I complete a class. Thank you Joe and CJ and all the other coaches and members for helping me become better and always making me feel welcome.

Let me start by letting you in on a little secret, You DON'T need to be Fit to do CrossFit, my name is Michael and i am a member of this Gym. I have been doing CrosFit for about 3 years now. And Recently (3 months ago) join this gym in Spring Hill, we moved from California, and I have experience with different gym's and different coaching methods.
If you are reading this then I am assuming you are looking for recommendations for a gym, let me give you an advice of what you want to look for.
Most importantly you want the coaches to pay attention and give you guidance in the movements and the way they explain the workout and setting an example.
You want to have the option to scale to your level ( yes that's right you do what you can at your own pace).
Crosfit is about getting healthier and longevity, But also a community, people that are Pleasant to workout with, people that will cheer you on, and in General just great workout Vibe.
I am happy to say that i have found all the above and MORE in this Gym, give it a try i promise you will not regret it.
Joe and Cj are doing an amazing job and i am proud to be a member of this Gym.

I'm still getting after it. Showing up at CFSH, slowly improving and loving every minute of it. Being a first time CrossFitter and having managed my own exercise for years (and not always managing it
well), it has been refreshing to partner with CFSH to coach me through getting fit. I have realized how much I really don't know about weightlifting and exercise in general. Coaches Joe and CJ are great about education during every session, providing corrective feedback, pushing you but not too hard, and scaling when needed. The culture at this gym is very welcoming and supportive with athletes at all fitness levels, which is important. Those of us just starting out need to see what we can achieve. I look forward to showing up for every workout. I highly recommend CFSH!

I was a little nervous since this was my first class here but as soon as I walked in Joe greeted me at the door and went over everything I needed to know to get started. The workout was awesome and I’m feeling it as I writing this but that’s what I want. The amount of space here is awesome and you’re not crawling over everyone. Plenty of equipment for group workouts and the community was very welcoming. I felt like we all wanted to win and be better than we were the day before. UPDATE: One year later and this 43 year old mom of 8 is still hitting PRs! I love that CrossFit's programming is always accessible and yet always challenging. A workout took all I had a year ago and workouts are challenging still today. I'm no where near "maxed out" of the benefits of CF... still growing in muscles and shrinking elsewhere. Also, I can run with my Cross Country kids during practice now- something I wouldn't have dreamed of doing in my 30s! All this is b/c of the community and coaching at CrossFit Spring Hill. Thanks Joe & CJ & team! :)
UPDATE: It’s another year later. 44-year-old-me posting now. I’m stronger and have pushed through health issues with the core CF values slowly becoming my own (clean nutrition, rest, consistent training).
Today, I watched Joe coach several members in our group class individually and carefully tweaking their posture in order to lift safely. When I had a question, he was deep enough in his response that I learned the “why” not just the “how”. He was also encouraging when I couldn’t complete a movement but gave it my all. Great coach! Great gym! I give CrossFit Spring Hill a big thumbs up! (I’d do two thumbs up but I’m holding the phone with the other hand 😜)
UPDATE: Still growing stronger! Today, I noticed Coach Joe took the time to evaluate each athlete’s stance & technique in the lift *without* us all pausing for long stretches or repeating a dozen times; he integrated this coaching with our warmup seamlessly. Bravo.

Update (12/5/24): It's been a year since my last review, and I wanted to give a more updated summary. Being in this community really has made my city feel smaller and more connected. I feel stronger than I've ever felt, and have more confidence in my ability to do hard things. I look forward to the opportunities to go, and find myself being frustrated if I can't get in for a day. I've been back at CFSH for about two weeks now, but I've known Joe and his wife CJ for a few years now ( I was with the gym before and took a break). What I love about this gym, that's different from others I've been at, is the message of "it's you against you" is very much the mantra. Meaning there's no spoken (or unspoken) need to keep up with someone else and possibly hurt yourself. It's all about showing up for yourself, checking your ego, and daily getting a little bit better. From the inexperienced to the experienced Joe and CJ make working out (and doing some really cool weight lifts) approachable and easy to understand. Super grateful to have this gym in my hometown, and to have the coaching leadership of Joe and CJ.

CJ is a great coach! "Bring Two Pairs of Socks – Trust Me!"
Now that I have your attention,
I've never been to a of CrossFit gym before, but I know this one is on a whole new level. How good is it, you ask? So good that I had to wear two pairs of socks, just in case one got rocked off by the incredible coaching and atmosphere! You gotta keep those toes warm.
I need to set aside a paragraph just to callout that it is family centric. Modesty? Check. Community? Check. Coaches who have empathy and care more about your ability to live another day? Check.
From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for something special. The coaches here aren’t just your average trainers—they’re movement magicians. Every cue, every correction felt like a secret code to unlock new strength, new way to be safe while avoiding injuries, and performance I didn’t even know I had. Seriously, if you think you've got your technique down, these coaches will take it up a notch. You'll feel your fitness game step up so fast that you'll be grateful for that second pair of socks.
The workouts are intense, but the positive energy and camaraderie in the gym make you feel unstoppable. The community here? Top notch. I’m always motivated to push harder, sweat more, and maybe even contemplate a third pair of socks just to stay ahead of the curve.
If you're looking for a place where your form gets perfected and your fitness level skyrockets (along with your socks), this is the gym for you!

Joe was great! I did the Murph for Memorial Day with a friend and had never done one before. I did some mental prep before and found a YouTube video that Joe had actually made just a couple days prior. Great advice. Came ready. He got to me to ensure form was good even though there were a lot of people there. And the whole thing was very well organized. Last bit is that all of the regulars clearly knew what they were doing and killed it through that challenge, which is a tough one. Great group.

I’ll start by saying set aside any preconceived notions you have about CrossFit, the gyms, and the people who do CrossFit.
CFSH is different. There’s no intimidation, it’s not a dark, brooding place. Joe and CJ coach in a way that encourages you to challenge yourself at a pace that’s safe and suits you. Whatever your fitness goals are, no matter what age you are, Joe and CJ want to see you become the healthiest version of you.

CFSH is awesome! I have a buddy that is a member so I dropped in to do a workout last Saturday morning. We did a partner workout and it was perfect. Coach lead us through a warm-up, walked us through the workout, encourage us during the workout (20m AMRAP), and cool down. All in all great experience. Definitely will be getting a membership soon!

I attended Bring a Friend week to get a feel for CrossFit Spring Hill and see if it was worth the future investment. I was challenged physically and mentally but in a great way! Every trainer that I worked with (Joe, Cj, & Nicole) were super encouraging and supportive, especially with helping me find modifications for some of the skills/exercises, as I have osteoarthritis in my knee. I knew that Crossfit had a rep for being intense so it was a bit of a decision. But my own workout pace and exercises aren't cutting it and I needed help. I look younger than I am, but my body has a few decades of sedentary computer work in it now, and both endurance and strength have declined. So I love that one thing that runs all through Crossfit Spring Hill, both coaches and members, is understanding and encouragement. Everyone says, "Hey, we were there, too. And the big deal is, you showed up!" The coaches are super clear on the needs to keep workouts safe and to scale them so your muscles aren't burned out before the class is done. I may wish I could do a lot more right away, but they make sure I can complete the class. It is the most encouraging training environment I have ever seen. And after my first 5 sessions, I'm already feeling changes that are good things. Yes, you will push and, yes, you will sweat. But you will have a ton of support! On a five-star scale, definitely a 7!

Joining CrossFit Spring Hill is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I am only three weeks in, but I'm now part of a community of people who actually care about, and support, my fitness goals. For years, I've hindered myself by listening to that inner voice of fear and doubt. With the help of CJ and Joe Pangallo, I'm confident I'll achieve the fitness levels I want by just showing up and progressing each day.
A few things that are important to me:
1 - the coaches stress form over heavy, so that you can perfect the movements safely.
2 - it's not an over the top gym, but you will be challenged
3 - everything is planned out and you can prepare for future workouts by watching the videos available from the CrossFit community.
4 - it's ok to be weak and out of shape like me. No one cares.

I started here with no prior crossfit experience, I was never aware of proper crossfit movements except watching them on youtube. Coaches here are very knowledgeable and are always helpful in correcting your form and movements. I would definitely recommend foundation classes for starters like me. My decision to join this gym was a no brainer after trying out other gyms in the area of Spring Hill. The primary reason for me choosing this gym was first of all that it was temperature controlled indoors. Obviously there’s a few months out of the year that a standard warehouse type non-air-conditioned Gym would have its downfalls.
CrossFit Spring Hill is a very professional environment as far as cleanliness and quality of equipment and attention to detail with movements and standards. The owner Joe and his wife are very knowledgeable coaches that understand how the CrossFit community and the CrossFit standard works. The members of this gym are also very personable yet competitive and also just good well-rounded friendly people that I have made friends with in the recent weeks. This gym is doing everything correct, I see them needing to expand into a bigger facility in the near future because people are going to be drawn to this place for sure.

I had always wanted to try crossfit but I was really intimidated because I am very out of shape. After having my second baby I finally decided to try it out. The moment I walked through the door I was greeted by smiling faces, not just from the coaches, but from the other members. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. All of the coaches really take time to make sure that you understand the movements and get the techniques down.

I loved my experience here. Joe and CJ do a great job and I have seen new personal records, and a complete body change. For me, this was well worth my time. Best advice I can give any newcomer is “Trust the process”. It won’t happen overnight, but if you work hard, and follow the process, you’ll see results. I really enjoy working out at Crossfit Spring Hill and highly recommend checking them out as your Crossfit box. The owners Joe & CJ are great coaches, very friendly, and really have a heart for both the beginner and the experience. I have been really impressed with the members here because though we all come from various fitness levels everyone is encouraging as they cheer you on as you reach your goals.
The coaches are always engaged with each of us making sure we are using the proper technique to get the best results. If you are unable to do a particular exercise they always have some modification that is similar, which will still physically challenge you but at your fitness level.
So, come out to Crossfit Spring Hill and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I look forward to working out with you and cheering you on.

Being new to CrossFit I couldn’t ask for better coaches than Joe & Cj. They ensure that I know the fundamental skills before moving on to the next step or adding weight. I also have a hip injury and they give me modified exercises if there’s something I can’t do - yet. So happy with my decision to start CrossFit & specifically that I chose to join CrossFit SH instead of just going to the regular gym and working out on my own. The sense of community and everyone wanting to see you succeed is awesome and pushes me to do better. If you can use some extra motivation or aren’t sure where to start, I definitely recommend meeting with Joe and Cj to discuss your goals and see if CrossFit is right for you.

Great coaches! I’m brand new to CrossFit and I was more than a little nervous based on my assumptions. “Too intense, too hard, too much weight...” It is intense, but appropriate for every skill/strength level. Joe and Cj are great teachers and have never let me move onto heavier weight without first learning proper technique. Intense? Yes. But also encouraging, scalable, positive, communal and FUN! Give it a shot.

This is a great place if you are serious about getting in shape and changing your life for the better.
I know sometime the word Crossfit scares people but there is something for every level regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. It is worth checking them out to see how they can help you meet your goals wether seasoned or you have never stepped inside a box. I have been doing Crossfit now for about 18 months and I have never had more fun working out in my life. That said, are there bad boxes? Yes, but this is not one of them.
