Before joining Fitness Together in 2020, I tried a bunch of workout routines but none of them have ever ‘stuck’. Hannah Maples changed all of that. Thanks to her skill and unwavering commitment to my success, I’ve been on a weekly routine for more than three years and I can depend on her to respectfully push me to my goals and hold me accountable. She is constantly molding my workouts so they suit my body type, my various systemic health challenges and my goals.

Hannah never looks to force me into a standard definition of what fitness ‘should’ look like. She is constantly seeking knowledge and often asks probing questions about my auto-immune disease then, later, recounts how she’s learned how we might reconfigure workouts to better suit my needs. Since my function isn’t always up to meeting the form of certain routines. Hannah, can modify any given exercise on a dime so I can still make gains without pain.

Hannah is ALWAYS present and greets our time together enthusiastically. Even if I am not entirely up for a workout all I need to do is ‘show up’ and she takes it from there!

If you have ever considered personal training and put it off for three decades, like I did, please consider the Fitness Together team. All of their trainers are dedicated rockstars to the profession.

I've been working out at fitness together for a year and change, and it's well worth the price, especially if you've been inactive for a while, lack motivation, or have an injury/are prone to injury. Everyone is extremely attentive and thoughtful, the location is well equipped and very clean. I love that there is never more than two clients total working out, so it feels pretty private. My trainers have been Leonie and Kelsey, and they have been amazing! They work with any injuries or pain, listen to feedback on workout preferences, are super great motivators and overall great people. They make the workout not only effective, but also fun! I highly recommend this place, they helped me get back into a more active lifestyle and regain strength and muscle definition, and helped me stay on track. I also love the styku machine, gives you a very thorough scan/report of inches lost/gained, muscle, fat, etc.

Preston is very good at motivating me. I struggle with pushing myself once it gets hard and he is incredible at pushing me and showing me that I can do it.

Trainers
I worked with Chelsea and Leonie - they had different personalities, but both had a friendly demeanor. I worked the most with Chelsea, and she was skilled at recognizing when my posture was off and educating me on how to adjust so that I’d get the most out of an exercise. Chelsea also recognized when it was appropriate to move up in weights or to a different type of exercise, and both Leonie and Chelsea pushed me to eat healthier (an area I struggle in because I have a sweet tooth).

Facility
Immaculately clean - I've been a germaphobe long before Covid-19 existed, so I really appreciated how much effort the trainers put into sanitizing the equipment.

There was a front room with a water cooler, fresh fruit and some equipment to warm up on. Two "hangar bays" were in the middle - they were open rooms divided by a wall so you had privacy in case anyone else was there at the same time. In the back, there was a bathroom and shower that were fully stocked with toiletries like shampoo, tampons, etc. – very thoughtful to have in a workout facility when sometimes life happens and you forget to pack things.

They played music through quality speakers and could request to listen to pretty much whatever you’d like to work out to.

Scheduling
Once I signed paperwork to pay for a package, I was scheduled with a trainer. I didn’t choose my trainers, but I’m sure if I only wanted to see a certain trainer or if I wanted to switch the days/times I could. They sent confirmation emails for my scheduled sessions and used texting for adjustments.

Cost
I came for an assessment and was then told how much sessions would cost, sold in packages. The package I paid for is 1-on-1 training and it costs close to $1,000/month. The cost made me a little sick to my stomach, but this was an investment in my health – personal training is expensive, but so is being unhealthy. I am blessed to have a job where I can afford this luxury and I appreciate that someone else plans my workouts, guides my workouts, owns diverse equipment and cleans the facility.

Dislike
I was asked 3x during my 1st month if I would write a Google review. I felt uncomfortable being asked multiple times, because I form my recommendation opinions *over time*. And once I do value a restaurant, baker, business owner, etc., I write a detailed review on why they are great and tell EVERYBODY. I am not docking a star from my overall review, because I don’t believe it took away from this place as a whole.

My Background
I’ve been a runner for about 15 years and played soccer for 4. I began battling pain in my right knee 2 years ago and scaled back – that coupled with being more sedentary during the pandemic has resulted in me gaining fat (especially in my stomach area). Friends and co-workers frequently comment on my body saying that so many people would love to have it and I shouldn’t feel any insecurity. But telling someone how to feel about their body type/weight doesn’t eliminate personal insecurities – it only adds shame. Also, when I first moved to TN, I accepted a co-worker’s invitation to a workout class. I had never heard of CrossFit before, but I thought it’d be a good place to make friends – my shoulder was injured during the 3rd class. Even with physical therapy, that area is still sensitive.

The trainers here listened to my story and led me on an exercise plan that respected my injury areas. After a few weeks, I was able to run and play soccer *with 0 knee pain* for the first time in months. This was directly correlated to the work my trainers and I put in. They knew my goals of building muscle to be stronger overall, as well as working on my stomach area. By staying committed to not just our workouts but also healthy food choices (such a challenge for a sweets person!) - I left with a toned stomach area, stronger arms/legs, better posture and more confidence! The ladies here supported me in my short and long-term health, which means everything.

I’ve been working with Fitness Together since December 2021. I can honestly say it’s been nothing short of an excellent experience. When I first started I was very nervous and felt vulnerable opening up about my weight loss goals and facing the new challenges that come with the program. I have worked with several different trainers since starting and they are all nothing short of supportive and positive to work with. This is the first time I am glad to be working out!
I have had several gym memberships in my life but never really knew what to do while at the gym. I would wander around looking at equipment not really feeling motivated to do anything. My boyfriend and I have been going to private training sessions together at Fitness Together for a few months now, and we both can tell a huge improvement in our bodies, minds, and general wellbeing! I was looking for a professional trainer to help me set my first steps towards getting my lifelong physical fitness goal and I have found it. My main goal was to gain muscles and expand my knowledge in weightlifting, so I can avoid injury and futile effort. My trainer is Hannah, she is one of the best professional trainers, she is fun, and she makes us eager to come to every class. This is to a great extent due to the noticeable outcomes from our workouts. At first I was hesitant because of the price and how the place looks from outside, I decided to take the step forward and I knew it was the right place. Here is why:

Nutrition: At the first months she helped me adjust my food intake, what to eat and what to avoid, and kept tracking my macro’s.‎‎

‎Exercise: She records my exercises and tracks even those I do outside Fitness Together. The training is always fun, you will always find yourself pushing yourself to the upper limit. I recommend training with a partner. It’s more fun and challenging and you can get a decent discount, and even if you and your partner have different fitness goals, don’t worry that will be covered.‎

‎Body: They use body scan to track your physical progress and you will get decent report. They helped me gain a noticeable amount of muscle and now I can lift 3 times the weight I started with.  ‎

‎Knowledge and Safety: ‎Hannah is knowledgeable and I have learned from her the fundamentals to lift free weight safely without hurting myself and even how to spot other’s. She will try to push you to your limit and she will quickly adjust the exercise if she sees any danger on you or if you are losing your form. I have a problem with my foot and she gave me a program to solve my issue and sent me articles and YouTube videos to understand the problem and work on it. If you are willing to learn she will not hesitate to teach you even about body anatomy, we have trivia on that every session. I now know how to stretch every muscle for the exercises I do and why I do that.‎

‎The facility: the place is spacious and would give you the wrong impression if you judge it from outside and the posted photos. They have equipment  to cover  many exercises and muscles. It is also a very clean facility. It feels safe to workout here because they follow all COVID-19 precautions.‎

If you’re not sure what is your fitness goal, they will direct you to find  a goal that suits you, and if you know what you want they will make sure you get what you want, and they will be realistic about it.

Amazing service. Missy is the best! This is a very personalized program and is a boutique training facility. I really like the customer focus and individual attention to my own fitness needs and goals. My wife and I have totally different health goals, yet both of us are able to work out together and feel challenged. Everything is clean and in spite of Covid, we feel safe as opposed to more traditional gym facilities. Would certainly recommend it.

Also, we reserve our workout times based on our changing schedule and that best fits our needs and no one else is in the gym during our reserved time. It is a no judgment gym and people of all sizes are welcome.

When I first visited the place, the exterior tricked me on this being cardio stuff only. In reality, there are fully equipped spacious rooms inside, make sure to take a tour, the staff are very friendly.

With COVID, this was one of the few places that took extra precautions: everyone inside wears a mask, everything sanitized post any workout, hands washed, and the floor was all yours with the trainer. Well, you can bring a buddy with you if want, which makes the sessions cheaper per person.

At first, you will be asked about your goals, and then the sessions will be tailored accordingly for you to achieve them. The trainers are extremely friendly and understanding.

What I love the most about my experience here with Hannah, is that she will not only help you in achieving your fitness goals for the short term, but also in achieving a healthy lifestyle down the long term. I am not only pushing myself to the limit during each exercise, but also learning something new every single session. Throughout the sessions, you will learn the perfect form of each exercise, the best methods avoid injuries, the point behind each movement, and most importantly, your own strengths and weaknesses.

There are other pros like nutrition plans, 3D body scans, towels, etc. The only con might be the price, but it is totally worth it, especially when you think about the long term benefits.

I love working out at Fitness Together! My trainers (Hannah and Missy) are very knowledgeable in what they do and tailor your workouts to your goals. You have assessments every 6 weeks or so where they help you check in on your progress, your goals, and change up your workouts so you don't plateau or get bored! They also are great about explaining the how's and why's of the exercises you're doing. One on one training has kept me accountable knowing someone is waiting for me there and I can't just stay home and say "maybe I'll go tomorrow..". You won't regret signing up to train here!!

August will mark my two year anniversary with FT Bearden. As of last week, I’m down 42lbs (20%) from where I started and have made marked improvements in strength, mobility and blood biomarkers (i.e. HDL/LDL, A1C, etc.).
