The facility is clean and well run, but the way they teach is frustrating for kids. They don’t progress or teach the kids how to improve their swimming. We were hoping the instructors would give more instructions and help them learn. Also, some instructors talk down to the kids, which leaves an impression on little kids. We moved to another swim studio after that.

My kids were learning a lot and became stronger swimmers. Location is hard because it is in the heart of Franklin in Murfreesboro road where traffic is always bad. This is a very big commitment. I would advise not missing any classes. You do get make up tokens, but you cannot use those tokens if you no longer pay for the membership. It was hard for me to use those tokens by going twice a week. Once a week Is already hard enough for our busy schedule. I did not give four or five star rating due to customer service. I was able to chat with someone via text. I had lots of questions, as I should, since I’m paying a lot of money for my kids to attend. Those questions were not answered in detail for me to understand and some responses were condescending like I should have known what something was.

This was fun at first, but our little one barely got any swim time and was making slow progress. We switched elsewhere and saw much more swim time and faster progress.

Lovely facilities, but the revolving door of 16 year old teachers and very little attention to individual students meant my kids made very little progress in the four months they were there. I wish they had more teachers with fewer students each instead of so many staff members just sitting on the pool deck and behind the front desk.

We’ve been members for a couple months now. My kids couldn’t swim at all before starting, and now are in the pool without a life vest.

My daughter loves Ms. Christi and we love the facility. Pricey classes yes, but it’s been one of my favorite things I’ve signed my kids up for and it’s been worth the money.

I’ve been enrolled in Goldfish Swim Classes for the past two years. However, this year I haven’t seen any noticeable improvement in the kids’ progress. I reached out to the Goldfish Swim Team for suggestions, but unfortunately, they haven’t provided any feedback or guidance.

I do not recommend this place at all. I enrolled my daughter on their accelerated program and it’s super expensive and not worth it at all. Also don’t believe the make up classes, if your kid misses a lesson that’s it there’s no making it up. I ended up paying 160 something for an hour and a half worth of classes ( if you can even called them that) Literally insane

Up until the experience that made me leave this swim school, we’d had a fine experience. One class night, my daughter was in the lane with the instructor and another girl. The instructor let my daughter continue down the lane with his back towards her for a prolonged period of time while he stopped in the middle of the lane to help the other child. My daughter cannot swim and always needs help at the end of the lane. I was upset that I was so far away in the waiting area and couldn’t immediately help her. The front desk sent someone out to talk to the instructor but the next day when I talked to a manager, they were defensive and unsympathetic to an upset parent who felt their child could have drowned. This is so disappointing because now I can’t trust my daughter is safe in these type of classes, even when I’m watching. So, if you decide to bring your kids here, keep both eyes on them and do not assume they’re safe with these people.

This review is long overdue...goldish swim was the best thing to happen for my son! When he started lessons he was afraid to put his head under water, a few months later he was swimming like a fish! I give all the credit to his instructor Bri. She was so patient with him and made him feel comfortable right from the start! Also a thank you to the owner Lincoln for running a great program and making sure my son was comfortable and progressing!

Franklin TN Gold fish - manager lied straight forward about the test when the test was never conducted

We scheduled for test on 11/13
It was the last class for the season. I informed/checked about it at the front desk and the trainer(lane seven) during the check-in time. Then, I was waiting outside and observing my kid through the glass window. She was taking regular training, and I didn't see anyone like the examiner. Class/training was completed, so I went inside to pick up the kid. At that time, the trainer informed me that the examiner with the iPad had been busy, “ and she would do the test next week.

I informed the trainer that today was her last class(I placed the notice four weeks before). She said that “she was sorry for the confusion.”

Then I came to the front desk, explained my current situation to a lady, and asked what my options were now.

The front desk lady approached the manager, Mr.Brandon(that's what he told me his name was, but I can't trust him). He walked inside, checked something, and informed me that the test was conducted.

Now, either the trainer or the manager lied to us. Since we interacted with the trainer several times, I think she didn't lie.

The manager was not kind, and I was not given respect.

Gold Fish Management: I am not writing here for a refund or to see if you're sorry—I just wanted to let you know that this kind of manager is not going to help you grow your business. We really liked the trainer, but because of the managers, we won't turn up.

I don't think you care about kids progress as you care to withdraw cash from our accounts at the beginning of every month. There is no consistency between what's being told vs what the kid is graded.

I am so thankful for Goldfish Swim School! Their patient instructors have worked so diligently and gently with my two hesitant swimmers. They have gone from scared of the water to making major strokes! I’m so impressed. I would highly recommend. Especially for those with hesitant swimmers or those that have sensory or other issues that have held them back from learning to love swimming.

I really want to give this place 5 stars but I can’t. They are very clean. They have several class opportunities and they do make it fun. My only issue is that they aren’t consistent with instructors and for many little ones makes it difficult to grasp new skills. Not only does it make it difficult for the student but it also makes it difficult to grade the student when they don’t work with the same groups consistently. Needless to say my little one didn’t receive the recognition on her improvements as she should’ve.

Disappointing Experience at Goldfish Swim School of Franklin

(Warning read the fine print before signing anything.)
3 month notice to leave the "School" explained below.

My experience with Goldfish Swim School of Franklin has been nothing short of disappointing. Despite their claims of teaching children how to swim, their focus seems to be more on extracting money from parents rather than imparting valuable skills to the little ones.

First and foremost, the quality of instruction from a handful leaves much to be desired. It's evident that the instructors are more concerned with clocking in hours than actually ensuring that children learn to swim proficiently. The classes feel rushed, and there's minimal personalized attention given to each child's progress.

What's worse is their cunning tactic of prolonging your stay at the school. It's all about keeping the cash flow steady for them. They conveniently fail to disclose their draconian cancellation policy, buried deep within the fine print of an agreement. You're trapped, forced to endure subpar lessons for months on end, with no way out unless you're willing to jump through hoops and give a three-month notice. Who could honestly plan 3 months in advance with the way life is now a days? When we decided to leave the school, they said we owed 3 month of tuition. This created a hostile entrapment environment.

Comparing their ineffective methods to those of other swim schools is like night and day. We sought help elsewhere and were astounded by the difference. In just five days with another company, our children made significant strides in their swimming abilities, a feat that seemed impossible at Goldfish Swim School of Franklin.

Save yourself the frustration and avoid Goldfish Swim School of Franklin at all costs. Their profit-driven approach only serves to hinder children's progress in the pool, leaving parents feeling cheated and disheartened.

We've been to two lessons with my two year old. Honestly they both have been awful for me to watch because she isn't use to the water or lesson yet. BUT the second one near the end she actually seemed to start enjoying it. My reason for the 5 stars isn't bc she loves it so much, it's bc the second lesson I was near panic attack watching her scream for me. The entire time the instructor remained completely calm, and just kept trying to play with her in the water. Also in a moment of panic I walked up to the counter and Brandon immediately understood what I was feeling and knew what to do and say. He kept me calm and told me what to do and that it gets better, etc. The whole place seems so well ran and organized. Super clean and kid friendly. Definitely going to continue lessons. Most of all though. . Thank you, Brandon, for understanding and helping me.

My son has gone to Goldfish since 2021, and now my daughter has joined alongside in the Mini class. We have really loved being a part of the Goldfish family, as my kids not only have learned important safety skills, but have gained friends in their classmates, teachers and staff. I frequently check in with my almost 4yr old to see if he’s growing bored and would want to try out another skill, and he is adamant he has to go to swim every week! I can’t recommend this place enough.

If you want your child to learn to swim this is might not be the best place to take them. I took both my daughters (currently almost 3 and 5) to this place for around 10 months of classes and they never learned how to swim. I took them just now to a private teacher (who costs more) and in one class they progressed more than they did at 10 months of the Goldfish classes. The Goldfish teachers are also kids that (in my opinion) don’t really know how to teach kids to swim. Your kids will likely have fun. Mine did. But if like my daughters, then their swimming abilities will not much benefit.

The youth swim instructors are fantastic and our daughter loves each different one she has had. The system of having teens teach the younger kids seems to get more out of them than if an adult was the instructor. Goldfish has also worked with us each time we needed to move classes to fit our ever changing calendar.

Edit: Adding to my review! Its been a couple years and we are going strong at Goldfish! Our daughter no longer takes lessons because of proficiency at swimming for casual swimming. Our 2 year old son has been taking lessons. He was struggling in the group classes, so we moved him to private (1 on 1) lessons. He has thrived with those and absolutely loves his teach Nylesha. The subs when needing to reschedule at a different time/day have been excellent as well! Our son went from hating the water and swim class to looking forward to going and asking if he is going to swim even on days he doesnt have it.

Thank you Goldfish!

So, you do the swim classes hoping your child will never need to apply the life savings skills they learn in swim class. My LO has been going to classes here for about a year and a few weeks ago, at a pool party, we had a scary situation where a friend offered to watch my kid around the pool. Well, my LO fell into deeper water when my friend wasn’t looking and my child was able to do their rescue back float. They are 2 years old and without learning that crucial skill, I don’t want to think about how awful the outcome could have been. There were several adults around, near my child, but no one noticed right away. I’m so incredibly grateful to the staff, instructors, and lifeguards here. Shout out to her main instructor, Brandon, who has been with my kid since the start of her swim journey and was truly invested in passing knowledge to my child and spoke with compassion and empathy when learning what happened with my child. Shout out to Bri for expressing a similar concern and understanding.

Can’t say enough good things.

Wow! Took my son for the very first time today and what a wonderful place for kiddos to learn to swim. He said, ‘’mommy, I had the best time.’’ This place is absolutely cool and FUN for kids. The decor is so cute! They give new kids an awesome bag with all kinds of fun stuff. Carter, the manager, was very nice and informative.

The only suggestion I have is that whoever is able to look into this, would look into a healthier option instead of chlorine. When you walk into the pool area, it’s so strong. I know it’s important to keep things sanitary, but just want to encourage Goldfish to look into a healthier option in doing so. Nowadays, there are many different options.

Other than this, this place is AMAZING! Thank you all so much for all you do for the kiddos and their families. ☺️

We love taking private lessons from GSS. We initially started in classes and they were just ok for my 4yo son. He personally does better with 1:1 attention. He took group classes for over a year and wasn't where I knew he could be. However, after 1 private session with Coach Bri, he was swimming a small bit on his own. Now he is able to go the full length of the pool. My main concern was for him to be ready for kayaking. Even though he will wear a life jacket, I feel like Coach Bri has done an amazing job getting him ready for the season. I couldn't have asked for a better coach and my son loves her.

My son started GFSS as a first attempt to get into a sport and socialize after quarantine at 2.5 years old. With the easy going atmosphere created by the staff and special care of Coach Kyle and many wonderful coaches/guards on the team, he has grown to love swim more than anything. His confidence in the water and ability to be with other kids blossomed all thanks to GFSS. We thought we would try this out for a season and ended up never stopping our classes, attending year-round. The staff is easy to communicate with and commitment is low, while the gains are high making this a great value in so many ways. He loves it so much that he is even having his 4th birthday party soon. Thanks, Goldfish Swim School!

The "teachers" are not very experienced just a bunch of high school kids that seem to have no prior experience and most seem to have no clue how to handle a 2 year old. I'm very disappointed with this program but want to keep my son in something water related but feel like it's a very slow moving program. I would not recommend this to someone that has a pool of their own with the ability to have a private instructor and needs their child to have quicker safety skills.

Overall, we had a somewhat positive experience with this swim school, but I have one major complaint. Our goal was for our 7 yr old to feel more confident in the water. We could only sign up for two months because of other sports schedules but in that two months we saw great improvement and he feels so much better about being in the water. The teachers are all teenagers but they seemed well trained and my son liked the ones he had.

My complaint though, and something I think everyone should be aware of before they sign up, is that you literally cannot schedule a makeup class. I am a teacher and had to be at parent teacher conferences on a swim class night. Long story short, they book up all of their classes so tightly that it's impossible to get a makeup scheduled. We paid for 8 classes over a 2 month period. We knew in the middle of the first month he would need to miss a class during the second month. After numerous attempts, both before and after the missed class, they did not have any open times that we could sign up for before the end of our second month. They would not let us reschedule until he missed the class even though we knew weeks ahead of time. They also said we could not sign up for our makeup class after our 2 months was up, even though we had paid for it. They don't have any scheduling flexibility which is surprising since their customers are families with little kids. In the end we only got 7 of the 8 classes we paid for. It was a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Lincoln and the front desk staff have been so welcoming and accommodating since we enrolled about 7 weeks ago. Signing up for open swim and makeups are easy to do, and the staff is helpful in doing so. The instructors have been wonderful with our daughter, and seem to really care about children and understand how they best learn to swim. Thanks for a great swim school!

So thrilled to have found this swim school. They helped my 4 year old son overcome a crippling fear of being in the water and he's now well on his way to learning to swim! I couldn't be happier and the family swim sessions he and I attend in between lessons have been so helpful to his progress. He is always happy and smiling in the water with his swim coach. It is so good to see him overcoming this obstacle in his life! The staff are friendly and kind. The owner is WONDERFUL. They have lent us a towel and goggles before when I forgot our swim bag so my baby wouldn't have to ride home all wet. This is just all around a great business run by great people.

Look at these photos of my boy. You have NEVER have seen him smile like this while in the water last summer.

The facility is also really clean and safe. I'm so glad they've reopened, because not knowing how to swim is an even worse risk to the health of our littles as COVID.

We have tried 3 different programs and this one is the best. The kids don't complain because the water is warm and the teachers engaging. They look forward to swim lessons now and they are actually learning.

Goldfish provides an excellent learn-to-swim environment. Now that I have two good swimmers, we are continuing with classes to keep them comfortable and exercising the skills they learned!

Can’t say enough about this place and the instructors, lifeguards, and staff. It’s a great set up with cute kid friendly decor. The pool is separated from the parent area with a glass wall so you can easily watch, but the kids are not distracted by hovering parents. The instructors have been wonderful working with our budding swimmers...including one who’d rather be getting shots at the doctors office. They’ve gone out of their way to help the less brave stay calm and participate. Will keep going back.

We absolutely love the staff, customer service, mission/vision, compassion, kindness, and lessons at Goldfish Swim School - Franklin.

Everyone is friendly and their enjoyment in what they are doing shines through in every interaction. My girls are so excited to go to the pool weekly and ask every day if they can go back. The love of water and learning safety is being instilled right away.

Thank you, Goldfish Swim School - Franklin, and your entire team. I’m so thrilled for my girls to grow in their skills with your organization.

The customer service from the very first communication was AMAZING! Kyle Anne went above and beyond in her correspondence with me and truly allowed for me to feel heard and valued. I can have A LOT of questions, and most can be extra and silly, she didn't make me feel that way AT ALL.
Then when popping in for a quick in person visit of the location, Bri was willing to do a full tour and go over any questions, even though some (many) were repeats.
Lincoln, the owner, is so friendly and kind and stands by his staff and the right thing. The girls love going to Goldfish and the staff is all wonderful. Keller has had the biggest impact with my youngest, who went from timid and barely participating, to having such confidence and working to independently swim and choosing to go to him and play. Goldfish Swim School - Franklin has the magic sauce!
We've had to juggle classes a few times, but it's super easy with their online parent portal. Make ups are easy, family swim is so fun and inviting, the customers are friendly and the kids are encouraged to play and enjoy themselves. If they were closer, we drive 30-45 min (and if traffics bad that can be even longer), we would attend every day for a class or open swim.

I nearly forgot, the water is always warm, wonderful perk going into fall and winter. The pool room is kept warmer so there isn't the immediate shock of cold AC getting out of the pool. They also provide blow dryers, quick spin swimsuit dryer, and a chalkboard and toy/books area.

Abbi loves everything about Goldfish! Her teacher (Ms Ailie (sp?)) is fantastic and has done a wonderful job both challenging her and making sure she is comfortable! Abbi is a high anxiety child and has a hard time in new situations and hasn't had any hesitation at Goldfish due to the supportive environment. She LOVES the showers, open viewing area where she can still see me (but not be distracted!) and of course the warm pool. We LOVE Goldfish!

We have been so pleased. Everyone on staff has always been so helpful and kind. Our children were not good swimmers and quite honestly scared of the water. They are by no means Olympian’s but their skill set has increased dramatically. We will keep them here until they phase out of the program.

The instructors are so great with my kids! I love that they are not only having fun but learning skills that will keep them safe in the water. I could not think of a better way to invest in my kids future than by making sure that this is a skill that they have. (Even if they are not they are the next Katie Ledecky or Michael Phelps.)

This is such an amazing place, I don't even know where to begin! The facility itself it awesome, they have a swimming pool with sections roped off for the various classes, spacious changing rooms, hairdryer stations, and shower stations. They do an awesome job of keeping everything very clean to. The staff are friendly and courteous, and the swim instructors are very knowledgeable and caring. It's a bit of a drive for us, we live in Murfreesboro, but we have absolutely loved our experience here and it is SO worth it!

Emma just has her first lesson and WOW!!! She was a little nervous (for about 30 seconds), but everyone there made sure she had a great time. She can’t wait to return.

I looked all over Franklin and priced swim lessons for days. This is by far the best deal and the facility couldn’t be nicer. Emma was able to shower, change, dry her hair, and even spin dry her suit. We were clean and ready to enjoy the rest of the day without having to go back home.

So glad this location opened!

We love the Goldfish Swim School- Franklin! The hours are great (open Sundays) and the whole process is extremely convenient. Drop off at the dry door, pick up through the wet, showers along the wall with baby soap, plenty of changing rooms, and then finish it off with hair dryers and bathing suit dryers! We have been going since it opened and it keeps getting better each week!

His instructors have been great and the flexibility of scheduling missed classes is great! So many friendly faces there each time we come, and now our son wants to be a swimmer. They give so much confidence to each student. We will keep coming as long as we can!!! Thank you BUBBLES!!! :)
