Located in the heart of Wedgewood Houston, 1/4 mile from I65, Heave-Ho offers clients a truly private environment where anyone at any level can pursue their physical fitness ambitions. The 1000 sq. ft. studio boasts of all the equipment and amenities one would expect in a larger commercial gym but is conspicuously absent the distractions ubiquitous in those settings. However, it takes more than tools to make a craftsman. Gladwell's oft bandied 10,000 hours is a good start. Something akin to obsession is helpful. Happily, Heave-Ho's proprietor and certified personal trainer Chris Scheele checks both boxes. A born teacher, Chris places his mastery of craft within the grasp of his clients, guiding them through purposeful, challenging workouts.

Highly Recommend!
My sister and I have been working with Chris for about 10 months. I have to admit – when my sister asked me to start training with her – I really didn’t want to. I didn’t think I had the time or the motivation. But now, I’m so glad I did.
I’ve lost weight, am significantly stronger with better flexibility, and have a ton more energy.
Chris is excellent at what he does. He tailors our workouts to our individual needs, focuses on technique so we can keep progressing, and keeps things fun.
My sister and I even convinced our Dad who hasn’t worked out in decades to start training with Chris. He’s only been going for a couple of months now – but is already seeing dramatic improvement and enjoys his sessions.
I can't recommend him enough!

I started working out with Chris several years ago. I was new to training and wasn’t sure what to expect, and was leading a fairly unhealthy lifestyle with poor eating habits and a sedentary desk job. With his guidance on healthy eating habits, and strength training, I dropped 40 pounds in 6 months. I became stronger than I’d ever been in my 30s and 40s. In addition to strength training, he was able to guide me through mobility and flexibility training, and helped me recover from a shoulder injury that I’d sustained years ago. Working with Chris was the best decision I ever made for my well being, and overall health. Weight has stayed off and I’m stronger than ever. Highly recommend!

Chris pushed me to the best results I've had in the gym, helping me break a lot of bad habits I accumulated over the years. He patiently worked with me after a hernia repair (an injury I developed far away from his shop) to get my performance better than before. Chris is thoughtful and creative. We've cycled workouts around Olympic lifts, boxing, HIIT, and endurance over my two years with him. I'm always up before my alarm clock, excited for our hour in the gym.

I can't recommend Chris enough as a trainer!! I first started training with Chris when I started grad school and explained I had two goals 1) to stay in shape and 2) to *maybe* build some upper body muscle since I've never had any ha. Chris delivered on both counts. He helped me build a fitness routine that worked well with my busy class schedule, and also helped me get pretty strong upper body muscles for the first time ever. I definitely became both a stronger swimmer and dancer as a result. I can certainly say that unlike some trainers I had prior to moving to Nashville, Chris has always carefully crafted the workouts so that I don't strain muscles. As an academic, I also appreciate his thorough explanations of how muscles work together and I've learned a lot from him. Moreover, he has a large focus on form, and I attribute compliments I've received regarding Olympic lifting form from others at my school gym to his methodical approach to teaching. Finally, I always appreciate Chris' professional attitude and demeanor, which helps me feel more comfortable in the gym and ready to get liftin'. I am certain that anyone who attends Heave-Ho and trains with Chris will be amazed by the progress they make as an athlete and/or with their general physical health.

Chris is a fantastic trainer! I’ve been working with him for a number of years. He customizes our workouts to fit my short term and long term needs, pushes me when I need to pushed, but also recognizes when I’ve really hit a wall. Ive been training with Chris for awhile now and I’ve gotten stronger. When something does not work for me he alters his workout plans to fit my needs. Very good personal trainer that takes his time to explain the move he trying to get you to do to make sure you do it the correct way for all the new people to physical training like me. Chris is fantastic for all of your fitness, dietary, and conditioning needs. He helped coach me through a marathon, guided me on fixing tons of mobility issues, created custom strength training plans for me, and is a fantastic fitness mentor.
I do not recommend things lightly. Heave Ho is worth it.
