I debated writing this review because I typically wouldn’t, but I’m genuinely disappointed with Lifetime Fitness in Franklin.
My husband and I joined mainly for the pool and pickleball courts—we already have another gym membership since Lifetime is about a 40-minute drive from our home.
During our first visit to play pickleball “all levels open play”, one of the men said to my husband, “I thought you’d be a lot better with those muscles hanging out.” I responded that it was his first time playing, but the comment set a negative tone.
I decided to go back alone another day, again, for an all levels open play, and while one gentleman was very kind and welcoming, the next group I played with was incredibly rude. They were all very advanced, and while I completely understand that it can be frustrating to play with a beginner, it was still uncomfortable.
I went up to the instructor to ask if there were any beginner or beginner/intermediate players that I could join. The girl sitting next to me gave me the nastiest look, and the instructor basically told me that everyone there was very good and that it wasn’t really a time for beginners—despite it being labeled all levels open play. I had just driven 40 minutes to be there.
As a business owner myself, I would have at least asked what I wanted to learn or offered to help me find a group that fit better, but instead, he walked off mid-conversation to play a game. The whole environment felt cliquey and unwelcoming—almost cult-like—and it’s disappointing, because every advanced player started somewhere too.
On another note, I booked massages for my husband and I as a surprise. My massage was great, but my husband’s therapist spent the entire session complaining about her job, her workload, and how corporate Lifetime Fitness is. We didn’t call to complain or name names, but it was very unprofessional and unfortunate.
Overall, this was not the experience we expected from such a high end gym. We’ve cancelled our membership and won’t be returning.

This is my home gym and has been since before it was fully built. I have noticed some changes that I don't like mainly the people who have taken over in the last say 2 years I think they need to be switched to another gym. I think it's time. I'm not very fond of people who are uppity and rude especially when I'm paying all this money and it continues to increase every year but I'm losing amenities that I didn't have to pay for in the beginning. One of the amenities that I'm losing is that this gym used to be a 20-hour gym and I definitely don't remember getting an email of it changing the hours so drastically. Cuz even during the pandemic it was open with the same hours from the very beginning. I don't quite understand why lifetimes across the country not just this one have decided that they don't have to be open like they used to be and honestly I think it's a poor decision since most other gyms stay open midnight or later. The other amenity that I've lost only at this location I don't quite understand why they think that the outside area is so premium but I have to pay additional to have access to the outside area no other lifetime that I've been to and I've been to a lot does that. That is when you become too big for your britches. I'm not too fond of the all the energy place on pickleball either. I didn't particularly like the fact that my loyalty came off last year as it didn't mean anything to this location either. The more customers who are long-term clients the better it looks. I also noticed that the steam room light in the women's locker room was flickering.
Please work on being better because I refer people to Lifetime and I don't really want to stop
Kudos goes to the lady in the Cafe at closing. I found that she was very accommodating and a pleasure to speak with.

Be careful, everything gets stolen here, both new and old, especially if you leave it outside a locker, The administration is in no hurry to do anything about it; they simply do not respond to emails.
And also, if you lose something, look for it yourself, don't trust the staff – you need to go and check your belongings at Lost & Found yourself, and it's very likely that you'll find them there yourself, as happened to me.

Horrible company.
I have been a member on and off with lifetime for about three years. When I’m an active member I pay on average $300 a month. Anytime I ever deactivate they keep on billing me, and when I return, I find myself with $500-$900 bills. The last time I hadn’t been to the club in about six months and they continued to bill me. Against my better judgment, last year I paid the 900 and signed up for more abuse.
Today, I’m on the road visiting from Boston. So I thought I’d drop into Franklin Tennessee before I get back on the road to Washington DC. I was looking forward to the consistency that this club has, a good workout, and good locker room facilities.
However, I was told that no one was there they could answer any questions for me, no one could help me settle my bill, I couldn’t even pay the 500 if I wanted to, locally. I was instructed that I could if I wanted to work out for the day pay $75 or wait until 8 AM until the concierge member services arrived.
This level of service is abysmal. For the price, one would think that you might get a little bit of service however, I’ve been treated as if it’s a privilege to do business with this company at every juncture.
I do not recommend giving them your money, in middle Tennessee and many other parts of the country. The YMCA is much better and in other parts of the country equinox has far better customer service.

I’ll explain why lifetime is 10/10 wonderful and essential for our health.
Not only do they have everything you can imagine from a full gym, indoor and outdoor pool, bar and cafe, study area, kids lounge and daycare with poolside service - but their team is understanding and welcoming.
We had a minor challenge that was easily and quickly taken care of by Emily in lifetimes daycare. She didn’t have to take care of us but she did and we really appreciate you Emily! We are also friends with a number of other team members like Abigail, Chad and Jessica and we appreciate the entire team. Thank you lifetime! You make our lives better.

It’s a nice facility but too small for the area it provides for. It’s always packed and getting an infant reservation is ridiculous. I have an alarm set for everyday to maybe get a spot a week in advance (that’s the earliest you can make a reservation). Half the time I only get on the waitlist and that’s with reserving right when it opens up.

Not like the lifetimes in Dallas! I think maybe bc there's so much traffic since this is the only Nashville lifetime. Not as clean and no cold plunge. No laps to swim due to swim practices. I just think Nashville needs another lifetime to divide some of the traffic and have time to clean.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t know how the experience was as I kindly walked in with my family over the weekend and was rudely told we could not get a tour due to them not allowing it the certain hours we were there. I explained that we are not from the area and therefore it was the only time we were available and the front desk was rude and told me “well I’m sorry we can’t give you a tour.” While i understand there are certain times for tours, the communication was uncalled for and i will likely take my business elsewhere.

Great gym, however It’s not a eucalyptus steam room they use Vicks menthol, which is kind of gross, not gonna lie. So excited for the eucalyptus steam room like equinox but they blast your nostrils Ran through Vicks. Please update this guys Otherwise, everyone will switch to equinox when it opens up in 2026 because they use real eucalyptus. Also completely useless Jacuzzi next To sauna and steam room that should be a cold punch it’s obvious that whoever designed this gem doesn’t work out themselves, cause they would know that they need a cold plunge right there instead

Frustrated with a pool area.
Pool policies stated - no outside clothes or jeans inside the pool. On multiple occasions- you can see people fully dressed in street clothes (jeans, long sleeve shirts, skirts, even including sneakers and winter boots) inside of the pool and jacuzzi. Staff does not reinforcing rules and policies.
Another Big concern- kids under age 12 without parent's supervision alone in lap pool.

Used to really like this place pre-covid. But since then it really started to go downhill. They massively increased prices across the board and started nickel-and-diming for pool access and other amenities. I was a touring musician at the time who valued health and a nice place to relax. While it was still pricy then I was able to afford the membership until these changes which was very disappointing. I honestly miss it, but Covid was probably tough on them and I moved away anyway. If I ever move back and have cash to burn I might consider rejoining.

Gym is nice and luxurious. Worked out more than a dozen times here. But they just upped their daily pass rate from $50, which was already pretty steep for a single workout to $75 which is insane, feels greedy, almost egotistical.
$50 was the highest I’d ever heard for a day rate, now it’s $75?!!
Come on guys. If I lived in proximity to a lifetime, I would have joined but now I wouldn’t even consider it, though I am likely moving close enough to join one in September.

Great facility, upscale and clean. Lots of different classes and programs to be apart of. Yoga, barre, cycle, conditioning, orange theory type classes. Literally anything you could want. Sauna, steam room and pool are just a bonus.
Many options for personal trainers (so you’re not just stuck with the 1 or 2 that are at your gym). They even offer assisted stretching which is super convenient to do after my workouts. They also have a 3d movement analysis that tells you where you are tight and what percent mobility you have at each joint-a great way to track progress without relying on a scale.

What I really like about Lifetime is that they offer many services without skimping on quality. I get a massage once a month to help with my hypermobile joints. Chelsea is great, but I've heard great things about the entire staff. And I enjoy the pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tubs. I've used their exercise equipment, top-notch. They keep the facilities clean. Maintenance is performed on a regular basis. Towels are sanitary. They have added group workouts and activities for older adults. It's a great experience.
Very disappointed Lifetime doesn't have more times just for singles at the outdoor pool in the summer as they did in the past. Their decision to add swim teams on Tuesday mornings is the reason I can't keep my regular workout schedule.
Extremely busy. They overextended in memberships so it's nearly impossible to work out between 10-7 and sometimes later. If you're looking for quiet times to focus on yourself and your workout, 4-9 a.m. and after 8 p.m. One's too early, the other too late. Sadly, I have to wait until this late in the year to be able to swim laps. I can't swim inside due to the chlorine being so high. I was pleased to find out corporate changed massage times back to the original.

We drive all the way from Columbia to come to this gym. (Mule town Recs prices are close to prices at lifetime with a fraction of the amenities)
My son and I love it here. The childcare staff have been amazing to my son with mild autism. I am always appreciative of the patience they show for him even when he acts up. They are willing to work with me to help him have a good time there. It's been hard for me to go anywhere because he doesn't do well in any other gym childcare or daycare.
After I workout we go swim at the pool and my son loves it. It's very clean and they have a lifeguard present at all times.
The goal setting session I got with Kasey was amazing! I'm so surprised how helpful meeting up with her was to help me reach the goals I wanted to set for myself.
The classes are great! Hoping to try out more soon.

My wife and I have been going here for over a year and are finally cancelling. It’s really expensive which we knew starting out because it’s a lifetime, but it’s only a “signature” location because where it’s located. I’ve been to many other lifetimes that’s were bigger, friendlier and less expensive simply because they weren’t in Franklin/Brentwood. As the prices have gone up A-LOT, the experience has not only not gotten any better, but it’s gotten worse. Weight area is tiny compared to other gyms and always RIDICULOUSLY crowded.
Between my wife and I plus our daughter in kids club, we are talking nearly $400 a month. Then once we wanted to swim class for her we were over that. Great location for our lives, but simply can’t afford it. This gym is simply for the rich and well off, and no one else. Finally done after a year or so.

Why would someone pay $200 a month for a gym membership?? There are many gyms you can go to and pay $50-$60 a month. So think of the logic, over the course of a year that is almost a $2000 difference, if you went there 5 years that would be almost $10,000!!!. I guess a fool and their money are
soon parted. I only took a tour of this place, glad I went somewhere else. I have other things I can spend thousands of dollars on.

Lifetime is an amazing facility with some fantastic people working there. I personally enjoy the many group fitness classes (hot yoga, GTX, Alpha) and I have worked with a few personal trainers there that have really helped me grow and feel more comfortable using the barbell on my own, improve my form, and really start lifting heavy. I have gotten to know a lot of the instructors/trainers and like them a lot. I think there is still room for improvement with a few aspects at Lifetime-utilization of space and cleanliness among them, but they are working on it and always trying new things/incorporating new features. I do think that they should expand and add kickboxing and row classes. I also think their social media and marketing could use a reboot. Just my two cents as a dedicated member!

Lifetimes gyms are awesome- this is a signature gym which means higher quality . It’s nice to make a day of it gym or classes lunch in the amazing life cafe- can never go wrong with a fresh protein shake. Then finish off in the hot tub- quiet room.
‼️This gym is lacking ‼️ in the locker rooms need mirrors with brite lights - but ones that light up but in brite white bulbs. Women need to put makeup on it’s hard to do with low lighting even with 20/20 vision there’s a happen wall has a picture on it make it’s a make up earea for getting ready. We workout hard we would like to sit down white we dry our hair and fix our faces there r only 4 mirrors w better lighting where women r getting changed . If your gonna ask to pay 300 then please update !
Life cafe *
Please have a vending machine or something up front for food 8pm-12 they can scan those Togo meals drinks and protein bars - this is more profit for you and it’s only fair to the members to have a food option after the life cafe closes
Add more Zumba classes especially on Sunday
Everything else is amazing 🤩 !

If you haven't been you just don't know but this health spa is absolutely the best. From the free trainers to the salon to the jacuzzis to the high-end health food restaurant all inclusive it's absolutely spectacular. UPDATE- while this is a beautiful facility there is one drawback for folks like me in the 60 plus age group. Corporate keeps changing the $$$ policies for the monthly without warning or email communication or texting you. So when you show up and the membership $$ have changed and you've been dropped. If you have just driven out you have a wasted trip and a front desk that says "sorry" you've been dropped. Just know that when you sign up because it is not the local folks at the club but corporate that without warning cancels your membership. It has happened to me twice now so I figure they just don't want the older group. But if you don't mind getting yanked around this is really a great facility.

Positives are the size, amount of equipment, classes, and you get towels for showers.... as for upkeep the place is lacking. . any issue lingers, whether it's the Luke warm hot tub, or sauna temp issues, basketball goal issues etc. For the price, this place should be spot on 99% of the time, but it's not. One of my favorite things is to just shoot basketball - so I was excited when I joined because they had two courts. After a while the goals dropped and were no longer 10 feet (besides 1). They completely ignored it for 2 years. I asked them multiple times to adjust (nicely) and even spoke with the main director. Then, They replaced one court with pickle ball. They got around to adjusting the goals on the remaining court and within a month the goals were 1-2" low on one side, and 3-4" inches on the other. They have not attempted to fix/adjust and now have decided to remove the nets and use that court for pickle ball. Lots of potential but absolutely not worth the monthly fee (180+$) and now they have added a summer pool fee. When the Concord Y expansion is finished, there will be a mass exodus from Lifetime.

There are outlets that have been down for weeks. And the pot holes at the southern entrance make the lot look like a bombed out Syrian Popeye’s parking lot.

This place is absolutely ridiculous - the membership costs $160 which would put you under the impression that it should/would be a high end luxury gym… only to quickly find out that it’s nothing but a teenage hangout area. The gym floor is filled with teenagers regardless of the time or day of the week. They work out in large groups hogging equipment, don’t return equipment where it belongs, and will use your equipment in the middle of workouts. The gym is also extremely filthy - the men’s sauna smells sour, I can’t imagine the last time it went through a proper cleaning as there is gum and residue all over the place. The mens showers are MOLDY, which is an extreme health risk. The shower heads are completely rusted and moldy as well, the water has an off scent to it and the water pressure is extremely low. This gym regardless of the size cannot accommodate the influx of teenagers who began coming this year - I have been to other lifetimes in other states that are spotless, this one… not so much. What a terribly run location.. Lifetime should really look into hiring a real cleaning crew and not taking advantage of their hourly employees to “clean” the locker rooms and showers. Also, the shower heads are past due for replacements. Mold is a serious issue and lifetime seems to not care.

What once began as a “luxury” gym in one of the wealthiest areas in America has gone down the drain right before my eyes… this gym was once the prime gym to be at — the amenities, the equipment, the experience… etc etc.. the gym over the past year has only gotten more expensive and extremely bad as far as quality and shape goes. I have been working out at lifetime for 3 years now — the showers have not once undergone a deep clean, there is mold all over the caulking and ceilings.. the grout throughout the tiles is FILTHY, it is some of the worst I’ve ever seen. It is disgusting in there… the shower heads are rusty and covered and grime with some of the weakest water pressures behind it. The sauna is absolutely filthy, there is gum left behind from other members in between the wood panels.. that have been there since I’ve come it also has an off putting smell. The basketball court seems as though it has not been polished or serviced in years - it is extremely dusty and slick, I’ve seen many injuries come from it and it has been addressed to management numerous times. The gym equipment is constantly being left around, plates are never put back where they’re supposed to be put, and there is not nearly enough heavy lifting machines or benches to accommodate the amount of people in the gym — however there are about 4x the amount in treadmills which are almost never in use. Lifetime is filled with nothing but teenagers now. The trainers at lifetime are given a sense of authority where they can completely disregard your existence and walk through your workout, take weights from your machines, and stand around talking to guests out loud about inappropriate topics without a care in the world. Lifetime classes happen in the MIDDLE of the gym, they will reserve giant spaces and squat racks — so you’d better hope you don’t go during that otherwise you’re out of luck… there is 2 giant studios that they could use for the workouts they are doing, but do not do so. This gym is heading in the wrong direction and continues to charge $160 a month. Management does not care, the employees do not care, and they continue to capitalize off of it. What a shame.

I’m a new member and I couldn’t be anymore pleased. This gym is my personal favorite out of all the other fitness places I’ve been to. There’s so much to do and I can spend hours there between all the classes, equipment, pools, and saunas. I’ll be a member for life

A very unwelcoming and unprofessional establishment these people have consistently turn the lights off on members sitting around near the cafe downstairs, they continuously make rude comments and I've even caught one of the members stalking me through LinkedIn and other social media platforms. Overall it's a very toxic atmosphere.

I’ve had a membership here for nearly a year and have loved it, until today! The customer service we received from Lena today was far from understanding and friendly. When I signed up in office I was told daily guest passes were only $15. The time I bring a guest (my boyfriend) more than one time in 60 days and we go to pay for it and she says it’s $50. We don’t live in Franklin and drove 40 minutes to get here just to have to turn around and go home because we didn’t bring enough money. I’ve been here multiple times with other guests and they always say $15 but somehow it’s now $50. Honestly felt extremely scammed today. Really put a bad taste in my mouth for LifeTime Fitness.

Joined 6 months ago, mostly for basketball courts, which we made clear for our 4 sons. They’ve been closed more than they’ve been open. Kids club sport court has been open I think 1 time for basketball.
Since summer one court was permanently closed for camp. Fine I understand that, but now both courts are closed bc it’s being renovated for pickle-ball. Was told that was in the plans by mgmt. for a long time although during our tour to join no mention of that. For the price, huge disappointment. Left vm for mgmt. no return phone call.

Nicest gym around but a bit expensive. If you prefer lifting weights I would suggest going during off hours or a different gym. During busy hours it’s tough to find weights as they use them for classes and the benches can be filled. Multiple times per day there will be no free weights below 30 for use.
If you’re only looking for cardio equipment, plenty of machines.

The prices and polices here are horrible to get started. You can find a way more affordable gym that offers the same, if not more things at their place. To keep that topic going, the quality you get for their absurd pricing is very bad, I walked into one of the men's locker rooms only to find worms on the shower grounds, disgusting. The management here is horrible and I will never go back, save your money and find somewhere else to go!

Great classes and great trainers! If you really want to boost your results, sign up for some personal training! I highly recommend Jess Celmer. She writes and directs a program unique to each of her clients. I have seen measurable results over the past three months. Jess has helped me lose 1.3% body fat per month, I have dropped from 22.1% to 18.3%, a 17% change. At the same time I have gained 2 lbs of Skeletal Muscle Mass, while also losing 3.5 lbs. The game changer is the body fat loss, and a gain in lean body mass, looking lean! If you want results sign up with Jess Celmer!

Pros: Clean gym. Friendly staff. Lots of equipment/weights. Clean sauna, steam room, spa area. Pools are nice. I enjoy playing pick up basketball games, two nice courts available for most of the time. Friendly community. Cafe area is a nice place to get some work done if you work remotely.
(My) Cons: Overly expensive given they close at 10pm during the week and 9pm on Saturday and Sunday. Most of my available gym time is late night due to my work schedule. $150+/month from all of their members should keep this place running 24/7 in my opinion. At the very least, change it back to their old hours which was 4am-12am. I was a member when they opened in 2017/18 and enjoyed getting to the gym around 9pm-10pm to workout for an hour, and then shoot some hoops and relax in the spa. I just moved back to Franklin and signed up not realizing (my fault) that they had changed their hours. The reasoning two different staff members gave me is that they changed their hours due to the covid pandemic. Seems like a weak excuse to me considering how many people use the facility during the day and the fact that we’re moving into 2022. They’ve increased their prices too. I used to pay $120/month, now $150/month. And I’ve heard they plan to increase the amount again. It’s a nice gym but if late night workouts are your thing I wouldn’t recommend. I’m disappointed that I didn’t do more research when I decided to sign up again, because if I knew they closed at 10pm on week nights and 9pm on the weekends I wouldn’t have done it. I’ll be canceling my membership after this month until they decide to switch back to their old schedule (if they do). They keep the lights on all night, so why not hire more night shift employees to keep the main areas (weights, cardio, and basketball courts) open?
Overall, it’s a nice high-end gym that you pay luxury tax for. If you can afford it, you’ll enjoy it..but there are plenty of other great gyms that are half the price and are open 24/7.

So impressed with this “resort” style gym. It has all the tech and gadgets which you’d think you were getting for the price. So far all the employees I’ve come across have been nice and helpful. Even though we came in knowing we were getting the membership didn’t feel like the sales guy was at all pushy and was very transparent.

I love lifetime. I really do. However, they put too much emphasis on group fitness classes devoted to strength training. There is only one class that is pure cardio & it only meets twice a week. It used to be 3 times, but they keep removing it to put more “barbell strength” or “gluteus max out.” Not a fan of cycling so that’s out. Please do better. It’s not always about the “numbers.” You need variety. That’s not something you have when it comes to cardio.

This past month I needed them to hold off charging my card for a few days and the man behind the desk told me that would be fine. However he could not change or cancel the automatic withdrawal on his end so he emailed his supervisor which never called me back. He also told me that I would have to cancel the payment through my bank if I didn’t want it to go through which I did. However lifetime has a fancy way of presenting their automatic withdrawal with different wording so they can get around any kind of stop payment that I put on my account and I had to face multiple overdraft fees which they have refused to help me with. As far as I can tell everybody that works for lifetime is a corporate robot they have scripted responses and are unable to do anything but follow the directive of the company. Money is their only motivator here there is no warmth or personability with them.. I really do like the facility and it’s nice to be able to take the kids in there but the customer service is absolutely awful!

This is the nicest gym I've ever been too. The outdoor pools in particular are like being at a resort every day. Great child care also for my daughter. The price tag is a bit steep, but I feel like it's worth it especially if you go once (even twice) a day like we do. Haven't tried the classes yet, but I intend to!

This is a premier experience gym. It has all maintained, higher end equipment, clean facilities, indoor and outdoor dining/ amenities (indoor/ outdoor pools, food, drinks, water slides, etc.) Nice locker rooms, plenty of qualified staff for personal training and classes. For middle TN, this is about as good as it gets for a FITNESS facility but this is not a lifters gym, nor does it try to be. There is tons of cardio equipment and ample fitness areas. The lifting section is good but it is not perfect. Like I mentioned, it's all very clean and well maintained but it just lacks variety. Unless your are a bodybuilder or fitness athlete you'll be fine however so really not that big of a knock.
My only gripe with this place is that it is supposed to be a premium experience through and through, however, the locker rooms are where most of the corners were cut. Structurally, they are very nice, great lockers and plenty of room BUT, and it's a big but, the water pressure is ABYSMAL, it's so bad. They must have restrictors on their pipes because there is zero pressure in the sinks and showers. I literally can't stand how bad it is. Also the towels are super thin and cheap.
Is that enough for me to stop coming, no, my issues are minor but seriously I hate the lack of water pressure, it's really really really really bad haha.
