I had to come here because the Hixson location was closed for the day due to a power outage. I am so glad this is not my home gym. I had to cut my workout short because of the lights. This location has bright pulsating fluorescent lights that gave me an awful headache. They need warmer lights that aren't so awful. So be aware light sensitive people or people whose circadian rhythm is already struggling, these lights will make it worse.

Planet Fitness in Chattanooga is a great option if you want a clean, accessible gym that makes it easy to stay consistent. Dear Regional Director, Instead of the manager (Jacob) referring me to you or a regional manager, he insisted on a power struggle today instead and continued to argue with me non stop on the phone and proceeded to prove his education and accomplishments were equal to or superior to mine, and I told him I was a successful professional currently a graduate student getting my Masters so it wasn't about the money and that I'm helping my grandad who has dementia and that I decided to wait and not relocate to Chattanooga so that I can spend Christmas with my family this year since this is my last Christmas with him probably. That was the reason for my cancellation. I went to UTC for my Bachelor's and have friends in Chatt. I even paid for 1 month of the black card membership and cancelled the membership on September 28th-30th before the annual fee due date on October 1st. I never even used the memebership at all and I'm not requesting any refund. I paid for 1 month willingly. I blocked Planet Fitness from drafting the annual payment already and called to request it be officially waived. To be clear, I don't need a refund, I'm asking for the overdue payment to be removed from my account. I have a lot going on with family circumstances right now and therefore I missed the cancel by 9.25 note and would have done that if I wasn't navigating these extenuating circumstances caring for a grandparent who has dementia. Jacob was beyond rude, he was insensitive, dismissive, condescending and every time I responded to his dismissive comments and him stereotyping me, he claimed I was "talking over him." No, he just wouldn't let me talk and wouldn't listen as if I didn't have the right to speak as a woman?? The deal breaker was I asked for no further contact with him and to speak to the regional manager only. He then still sent me an email with intimidating language that said "I spoke to the regional director and forwarded the emails." and tried to manipulatively make me look like the problem, when I clearly can show my emails prior to his asking for no further contact and that I would be happy to and prefer to speak to the regional manager from here on only.

Sir, I have the right to stand up to harassment and sexism and he clearly ignored my request to have no further contact and instead speak to his manager. I find his behavior concerning and he clearly doesn't care about Planet Fitness customers. I already paid $25.50 for my first month and cancelled after that since I'm not relocating. Jacob's behavior was demeaning and beyond disrespectful and so unnecessary. He could have referred me to higher management from the start but he insisted on arguing with a customer. All individuals deserve respect & dignity, not interested in arguing or power struggles.

In my 2 short emails before his, I asked to not be contacted again or to speak with him again and that I would speak to the regional manager instead. I have not paid the annual fee since I cancelled *before* October 1st and I asked for an exception on the 9.25 deadline since it was still before 10.1. I asked for him to waive the $49 payment due on my account due to family circumstances and extenuating ones. Instead he argued with me and went in circles and refused to help me or refer me to someone who could help resolve it since he couldn't he said. His aim wasn't to help me get to the right person, his aim was to fight with a woman on the phone and prove himself without listening or helping. Then he hung up on me and was trying to harass me and intimidate me over email as a woman. For that reason, I am now most definitely requesting the $49 be waived for sure. I refuse to pay for harassment, intimidation, wasting my time during a busy work day, and mistreating me. I am a busy working professional, a graduate student making straight A's in school pursuing my Masters in Digital Marketing, working on my 3rd business startup and also supporting my family and granddad who is battling dementia. This was unacceptable.

I frequent this gym when I am in town from Dallas TX for work. I like that its accessible 24 hours during the week.As an early riser its convenient for me to get in and out of given its in a well lit area and not far from the parking lot. I love the variety of the weight equipment especially the power rack.

EDIT: I was contacted by a representative and had a very good conversation about why it sometimes takes so long for the equipment to get fixed. I appreciate the time and effort taken to reach out and offer an explanation.
Since my original review, not only has this machine been fixed, but new equipment has been installed, and there has been a NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT in the time it takes for repairs to be completed.
I continue to have a positive experience at this PF location and would recommend it to anyone looking to join a gym like this.
Why only 4 stars, then? There is a need for extra accessories to be kept on hand. There are often many carabiners missing from the cable machines, and recently barbell collars have gone missing. I'm sure it's not PF at fault, but keeping several extras of these kinds of accessories on hand would be helpful and would show PF is prepared for the needs of their customers.

OP: Generally, I have little to complain about. For the most part things are pretty clean and the staff is friendly, though there has been a time or two when they didn't know what I was referring to about a basic piece of equipment (e.g. carabiner for the cable machine).
HOWEVER, my SIGNIFICANT COMPLAINT about this gym is how long it takes for equipment to be fixed. Whether it's in the restroom, the water fountain, or the workout equipment, it often takes WEEKS to get fixed.
Case in point, this cable machine has been broken for ~6wks+, leaving only one area available for cable flies, which is often a popular/busy section.
I understand an immediate fix is not often possible, but surely it doesn't take more than a month (which each of the things I've mentioned have taken a month+ to get fixed), nor should it.
Please fix your equipment in a more timely manner (1-2 wks max seems reasonable for a business like this).

* I’ve been going to Planet Fitness locations all over Middle Tennessee for years, and my home gym in Tullahoma is always clean and well maintained. I regularly compliment them and other locations for how well they take care of their facilities.

Unfortunately, the Chattanooga location is the exact opposite. The locker rooms and bathrooms are consistently filthy, and it’s been that way for the 4–5 years I’ve been coming here. The staff claim they clean three times a day, but based on what I see, it looks more like three times a year.

On 9/11/25, I raised my concern directly with the manager, Haley. Instead of taking the feedback seriously, she smirked at me as if I was the problem. When I asked if she had been in the locker room, she said yes and insisted it was clean—something I can assure you it was not. That kind of dismissive attitude tells me management doesn’t take cleanliness seriously here.

And to the manager: I’ve looked through your Google reviews, and I see people praising the cleanliness of this gym. That is simply not true. Either those reviews are from bots or fake accounts, because anyone who actually uses this location knows the locker rooms and bathrooms are disgusting. The positive comments about cleanliness are a lie, and they don’t reflect the reality of this gym.

My 23 year old son was a member of the Planet Fitness on Lee Highway. Unfortunately, he passed away on June 13th. On the SAME DAY he died, I went to the Lee Highway Planet Fitness and cancelled his membership. Four days later, they charged him again for another month. I’ve been back over twice and requested a refund, which they refused. I requested the name & number of the regional manager … this request was also refused. You can ignore any deals you might receive on the front end of your contract … they will eventually get their money on the back end … even if you’re in the grave.

I have been going to planet fitness for a few months I started working with Christopher their trainer and he's awesome so it's the first of the year I'm down over 40 lb almost 6 inches off my belly and I only have about 30 more pounds to lose for my goal and it's a big part to Christopher and all his help. I have been going to planet fitness on Lee highway and have been working with their trainer Christopher for 90 days and from the first of the year I am down over 53 lb 8 inches off my belly three of my chest 3 off my waist all the staff is very friendly they get to know you by your first name and give you all the encouragement you can need if you ever get the chance to work with Christopher I would take it his time is very valuable and very busy but worth it

I understand gyms need new equipment sometimes. But what was wrong with the equipment we had? They replaced my loved arc machine with something not even close to an arc. So I tried the new elipticals and to my disappointment I was having a hell of a time figuring out the programming. I visited during the open house event, and Ty, the African American young man who works overnight is truly genuine and gentle. He guided me through the memberships, provided a lovely tour, and even allowed me to try one of their massage beds. Kudos to the new young female manager!! She is killing it. One of my pet peeves about the gym has been the cleanliness of the bathroom, She has made it a priority of hers to maintain it, keeping it well stocked as well as clean. Additionally, She walks around and talks to members of the gym, informing them of things that are getting fixed. She takes the time to get to know first names when people check in. I feel like these are all things that make people feel more welcome at the gym.

I have been going to this planet fitness since October 31, 2024, and in the past 2 to 3 weeks there has been such a change in the atmosphere as well as the cleanliness of the gym. Keep up the great work!!!!

Been a member at this location since January and it's progressively gotten worse. Came in midday on 3-1-25 and had 3 people working the desk. Almost every station was either out of paper towels or spray, 90% of the trash cans were running over, and the men's locker room looked terrible. As a truck driver and traveling to many different locations around the country. This location equipment and people were fine but it was filthy in the locker room! Showers, toilets, floors full of hair and dust along with no toilet paper. It’s 8pm 3 people working and it’s not busy at all. Large fitness facility with 4 massage chairs and 2 hydro massage beds. Has a lot of equipment and tanning beds to choose from. Staff is very kind. They have lots of tvs to look at. This place is great! Plenty of the best cardio equipment (have never had to wait), and adequate weight-training for anyone other than meatheads. Can't beat the hours or the price. I shower every visit, and have never had any problems with cleanliness there or in the locker area. Staff is always cleaning, and they're all friendly and courteous. Chelsea is one in a hundred million. Just wish they had a steep-incline sit-up board.
A few years later, and everything is still great! I just wish that those who come in coughing (obvious chest congestion) and/or repeatedly sneezing with a cold were required to wear a mask. I guess their momma never told them to cover their mouths when they coughed. Very rude and inconsiderate. Nobody comes here to get sick.

Blk card member & they get anoid if you come to only use the massage stuff well some of us work out at home cuz they don't have time and I pay for a membership and I can do with it what I choose. That's why I pay. So why do I get treated this way? This is at every single one I've been to and I travel so this is in California, Arizona, Tennessee Oregon so all across the board they can't can't wait to talk down to you and make you feel bad... Also whenever I tell management or employees about issues they don't do anything about it. I told the manager that there was a protein spill right next to the massage bed that looked like it was blood and I went there the next day and it was still there?? Seriously planet fitness hire better people or pay them better or something!!!!!!!

Fine for a workout, but doesn’t take care of their facilities well. Mens bathroom has had 2 urinals and 1 toilet out of order for weeks, they frequently go out or order and take way too long to fix for a gym that accommodates so many people. Cardio equipment has broken down for weeks to months at a time. Pins/clips in the weight area are often missing. I’d give a higher rating if they seemed to care about keeping equipment in proper shape for their customers.

I travel all over the country so I’m a Black Card member and this location might be one of the nastiest locations I’ve ever been to. Showers and restrooms were filthy. Showers hadn’t been cleaned in so long there was a film build up and smelled. Sinks were dirty and floors in the locker room littered with trash. Staff was friendly and nice though.

This is not a judgment free zone!

I’ve been working out there for four years and all it was great, the beginning of 2022 and 2023. I have been absolutely judged by random members some have nasty attitude and some called me out for being flat.

I’m happy I prove have them wrong and put on 50 pounds of muscle, but I’m still getting a lot of uncomfortable comments.

This gym kept me unmotivated due to the people, the restrooms, and the lazy rude employees especially this location. I remember one employee says I was out of shape. How is people at crunch fitness more nice than me and help me motivate it while a “Judgment freezone gym” are unproductive.

I’m even tired seeing high school kids who wear wife beater pajama pants who spent two hours on a smith machine and I can’t ask him to get off. Or a 50 year-old dude doing a handstand and asking me do you want to buy marijuana?

Whoever is reading this comment I wouldn’t recommend working out at this gym with toxicity. I hope planet fitness does better, especially during the whole transgender controversy.

My personal experience has been good. However, I must add that I have been working out on the equipment many years so I basically know how to use it. Many people I have seen there, do not so they need instruction.

This is the worse gym. Always so dirty. I got my toe cut open from glass in a stand up tanning bed, tanning beds are never cleaned. Looks like pubic hair in the floors. Staff expects mèmeber to clean. Staff stands around on phone and act like your inconvenience their phone time. Bathrooms are gross, general manager only apologize for incident with the glass and offered 2 free drinks. Absolutely the most nasty and rude gym I've been to.

I go for the amenities mostly. You CAN get a good workout in, but I prefer to do my weightlifting in a judgement free gym, which planet fitness is not according to the signs on the wall and the "link alarm."

I work out in several PF locations & the Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN location staff helped me out so much.
I was there to workout and set my keys on top of the lockers and they fell about 5-6’ down a false panel.
Thanks to the sweet blond and maintainence gentleman, they were able to come up with a tool to fish my keys out from behind the lockers.
I also got in a good workout after.

The bathrooms here are down bad, there was a sign saying someone was in there cleaning but no one was. There was toilet paper everywhere and the showers looked disgusting. Please clean it more often, the one in dawsonville ga is wayyyyy better then the Tennessee gyms. Smh.

Used to be a good gym until Planet Fitness started allowing grown men into the women's locker room. Not safe at all for women and little girls in there.
I saw a man in a dress walk in the women's locker room, but fortunately some real men cornered him and threatened his life. Highly doubt this guy wants to go peek in on little girls again

Please cancel your subscription for your little girl as well as my little girld , now they are encounter males in her bathroom watching them undress and changing cloth , meanwhile planet fitness allow it and cancel clients because we let them know what is going on !!! It is time for them to listen!!!

Needs lockers that have self locking system. Nowhere to put bag, keys...unless you get a combination lock for lockers
