1) proximity (next closest gym is just under 20 min away in Madisonville)
2) 24 hr access
3) flexible pricing

Cons
1) limited and outdated equipment (sufficient for some of my needs…for my other needs I drive 35 min to ymca in Athens or 16 min away to modern health club)

2) back room near bathroom smells strongly like piss (luckily I don’t need that equipment)

3) gym is a bit depressing/run down feeling

4) pricing is not good but close enough to what other nearby gyms charge where convenience and accessibility are enough of a determining factor/benefit for me.

5) only staffed from 3 - 6pm (personally I don’t see much purpose in staff other than onboarding purposes)

Analysis :

If you do not want to drive 20-30 min away and don’t have space, time, money to invest in your own home gym then this gym has sufficient equipment to get you fit and strong.

Pricing comparatively isn’t great ($10-$20 a month for crunch, planet fitness).

Other nearby gyms in 20-40 min radius have similar or better pricing, no contracts, 24/7 access and much better facilities/equipment.

Saying that pricing is understandable and appropriate given context.

Most likely they have 50-100 clients a month which is enough to keep lights on and turn a very small profit.

In this context I’d have to assume business owners have multiple businesses or another job to make a living.

Despite all the cons, I’d rather have them here then not and leverage the pros to build a healthier version of myself.

First off, let me begin with the fact that I’m a US Marine. I was born in a bombshell and came out chewing on 5.56 and curling 80lb DB’s… So I know a thing or two. That said, I love this gym. Josh and Makena really do what they can to make this a great workout facility in this little mountain town. It has everything you need and bathrooms are always clean along with the rest of the building. They’ve modernized the key fob and website. You can always reach them if you need something, and they’ll fix your issue asap. They could have easily just done the standard gym and been fine with it being the only gym in town, but they continue to improve with new and better equipment. If this gym doesn’t live up to your standards, then you’re probably in tellico for the wrong reasons along with it.

It's a place to work out. Being a prior member of Planet Fitness and Golds Gym I find it unfair to compare. The proprietors are great and friendly as can be. They probably do the best they can with what they've got. Being a Marine, I understand and appreciate that. They just refurbished the men's bathroom and it looks great 👍👌. But the toilet hole needs to be upgraded to a toilet bowl. Just sayin'...Half of the machines are outdated and disappointing, but it looks like they're trying to upgrade a lil at a time. Anyway, all in all, I'm glad there is a place to go locally. Thanks.

My grandson wanted to renew his gym membership and I wanted to start a gym membership. Went to the gym. Although there were at least two people in the gym, one of them working at the computer, the doors were locked. We knocked and waited, could get no response. We left and came back later. Same thing happened. Even blew the horn. The police were called. We told them we only wanted to talk with someone about gym membership. Apparently, they are not interested in renewing customers. My grandson is disappointed because he liked working out there. I couldn't care less. I can go over to the park and walk. First bad experience I've had since moving to Tellico Plains a little over a year ago.
