Nice facilities. I just wish more steam room/sauna users would pay attention to rules about showering before they jump into the swimming pool. Gross.

FYI-NO DAY PASSES. We were visiting family from out of state and wanted to use the pool, but their policy is only members (guests must be with a member) may use facility. Period. Looked like a decent place, but it's too bad it's exclusive.

I have been a member here for years, had one teenage life guard tell me to stop stretching in the sauna. Asked to speak to a manager after I told her I come all the time I do the same thing she said doesn’t matter stop. I said ok when I walked to get my water she said in front of everyone did you speak to my manager I said am sorry am talking to you still continue to respond with attitude I said ok thank you she continue to give an attitude am 33 years old I understand how much my body can Handel ,place is to workout and feel stress free not have a teenager raise her voice across the pool telling to speak to her manage

No complains about the facility and employees but the rules are ridiculous. During summer they don’t let you use the kids pool (I have a child) they also block the slide. What’s the reason? We are paying memberships to have nonsense restrictions like this, plus they had a lifeguard lady who was very rude when she told us to get out of the pool.

We love this Y and have been members for over 7 years.
It's always clean, we are always greeted with a smile.
Concerns are dealt with appropriately and quickly.
So many activities for our whole family to get involved.
It's basically our second home!

I’m so tired of going in the sauna and having to listen to sexist, racist, and misogynistic remarks . I have told them to stop before and they always keep on. What doesn’t help is the other people in there laughing or agreeing.
Do something about it or I will. This is why my 2 daughters and my wife won’t go there. Don’t laugh at them it’s not cute.
This needs to stop!

This is honestly the worse YMCA I’ve ever been too nationwide, The front staff is incompetent. EVERYTIME I come in to use my nationwide program they have no clue what they are doing, every time there’s an issue. I’ve been to 60+ locations and never had an issue, when I say my name I get checked in and so does my kid but not here it’s either they gotta call or can’t find the notes in my name which there is because other YMCA locations can find them but yet this one can’t? The gym is tiny, there’s not enough equipment, the gym etiquette here by everyone is terrible including the older generation. They lay towels on machines and will go around and talk while not using it, I get you’re trying to workout but you need to take this serious or leave the gym to have a conversation instead of taking up machines and equipment that people are trying to use. The staff here is also rude, The only pleasant part of the staff is the childcare. They are always wonderful, but front desk has no idea what to do. The gym STINKS, backroom with all the machines smells like stale piss, The locker rooms are gross. I’m not sure how this YMCA has such a high reputation. Ive seen it better at planet fitness and that’s setting the bar low, No wonder the other gyms on the area have more business. Because if you look at the other reviews you’ll notice that the workers have terrible attitudes. Good luck!

I'm generally happy with this YMCA location however I was not happy being kicked out of the steam room 30 minutes before closing. I didn't see that posted anywhere that they close that down 30 minutes before closing. It should be available until closing time or post that it isn't. I am new here and would have planned better if I had known that.

Update.. I have been taking swimming lessons with Keri at this location. She is So Wonderful. Her patience with me is a blessing especially dealing with my fears. So, if you’re like me who floats like a boat; but need to learn how to steer πŸ˜‚ or just need to learn, I do recommend her. Thank you Y for Keri.

I recently returned to the Y in Hendersonville. It’s a great location and the staff is very welcoming. I make friends easy so the people in the H20 Cardio class, as well as our instructor, have been super. I do like the parking lot because it’s easy to manage. I so wish for a towel service; but it’s no biggie because I’m still enjoying it and that’s my main purpose.

Awesome facility for any fitness goals! Great pools for laps or recreation, plenty of equipment, I rarely have to wait for a bike or a stretch pad. Friendly staff and helpful trainers. The YPlay staff is awesome! We are potty training and they totally take our little one to the potty at requested intervals. I had a small mixup mixup we switched from Blue 365 to a family plan, and they fixed it right up for me.

There's so many nice things to say about the Y, it's a really great place. The gym is spacious with a fair amount of equipment. When it does get crowded, everybody gets along. The indoor lap pool is wonderful. There is some construction going on in the sauna/whirlpool/steamroom area which means the facilities are well maintained.
It's very family oriented, the outdoor lap pool is only available for lap swimming in the morning and the rest of the day is used for general fun. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, free coffee.

Would highly recommend going anywhere else other than this YMCA. The workers have attitudes, the workers in the YPlay area constantly use your diapers and supplies for other kids- my daughter would always have some new bruise or mark on her every time we picked her up and they would never document it. Some area is always closed down for whatever reason (currently the entire indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are closed without knowing when they would reopen). Will never return, and have encouraged everyone we know to cancel their memberships.

They don’t actually care about helping kids learn how to swim, and the sheer amount of pointless rules around the pool for kids makes the whole experience of going their miserable for a single parent with multiple kids. I don’t recommend getting a membership for the pool. Not worth it at all.

I have been a member here for about 5 years now, made lots of gains and even hit a lifetime milestone of reaching the 1000lb club here. Besides the facilities being top of the line and having everything you possibly could need in a gym, the staff is amazing. Another member accidentally moved my keys, the entire staff stopped what they were doing and helped me to search high and low until they were located. Best gym in the area and I have tried them all.

Hi

I decided to come back to the YMCA in Hendersonville this year, my past experience was great with this location. Sadly, right now I am very unhappy with my new membership.

I signed up only for yoga classes, and a week later they said the classes are to full, and they will add a button on the app to register for yoga classes (only 24 hours before). So right now I need to set and wait exactly 24 hours before class starts to hit this button to be in the class. because I work I can’t do it, to hit this button 24 hours before class.

I have to drive a long time to get to the classes for them to tell me the class is already full and I need to leave.

They have not been able to add this feature to the app yet.

I am very upset and frustrated about this

Just joined. Facility is fine and staff is very nice. Lots to do.
However, each time I have been in the weight room / cardio area, there has been someone having a lengthy conversation on their phone, despite signs to be considerate and NOT do that. I also witnessed a guy literally spitting into a trash can instead of going into the restroom and no, it was not an emergency. Then there was a guy grunting and slamming weights in the squat rack / dead lift area. They have signs not to do all of this. I don't know what the answer is but it takes away from what would otherwise be a very nice facility. Hopefully this is an exception and won't be a common occurrence.

We have been apart of the YMCA for several years. Kathryn Faith at this facility is by far the rudest employee I've ever met. My wife asked if they had the hot chocolate packets anymore. She was completely rude to my wife about the situation. She mentioned to my wife you are the second person that asked, we have never offered it. My wife had no idea I had already asked so the first person that asked was me. She begin discussing rudely to an African American female employee regarding my wife. There was absolutely no reason to be rude. My wife chatted with another employee regarding her unprofessionalism. The employee was kind enough to see if they had any under the cabinet in the coffee area. The other employee mentioned that she is always rude, and her excuse is always "I'm from California"! Honestly I don't care if she was from the moon, but there's no reason for awkwardness or rudeness over a simple question. The other employee mentioned that she usually works 4:30-8:30 so she wouldn't know if a guest, or someone happen to leave hot chocolate behind before, and that she just happened to be there. Which is true! She (Kathryn Faith) then approached her with a container saying this is the only hot chocolate we provide. She is very rude, gossipy, and unprofessional!

I took my 9 year old daughter to swim at the pool where they have an unreasonable swim test for all children to complete to show they are capable of swimming. I sat and watched countless children throughout the day cry because they couldn’t use a proper breaststroke down an Olympic size pool. Additionally, they have no accommodations for children with disabilities such as Autism where physically they can handle the task, but mentally it’s overwhelming. I’m not sure this is even legal to not have reasonable accommodations. When I asked about it, the director stated this is just the rules. So a nine year old child who can swim like any other kid cannot participate without an adult by her side or on slides with her friends at the pool this summer because she cannot pass a test due to her disability. How sad and honestly wrong, sumner county Y you do great things for the community, but this needs to be addressed. Someone has to advocate for these children.

At 70, I found "the Fountain of Youth" at the YMCA. They are a community dedicated to sensible exercise for the body and the mind. There are classes here for every fitness level. So, so many people recommend the YMCA to me. From Doctors to friends they all say the Y will work with you.

Must have called these folks 4 times to ask questions about membership and classes and each time was told something different.

Twice I was told a manager would call me back. They never did.

Today I find out they don’t accept the membership provided by Medicare/Medicaid. They do however accept many other, similar, types of memberships provided by other insurances.

Hate to burst your bubble but people on Medicare/Medicaid don’t have other options.

Here is a list of local gyms that do accept Silver Sneakers memberships: Planet Fitness, Workout Anytime, Gold’s Gym and many more.

The only people who don’t offer free membership to folks like me are small, independently owned specialty gyms and even some of them, do!

With all due irony, shape up YMCA.

Edit: Followed up just now and contrary to the comment from the bellow, they were able to offer me at the low, low price of $42 dollars a month. This is wildly expensive for pensioners. It's like when apartments HAVE to allow 10% underprivileged folks live in the same building, but don't allow them access to the amenities. Y'all, still, need to tighten up. The swim instructors were exceptional. My children look forward to attending the next two classes. We were also really pleased with the front door staffing, the cleanliness of the overall facility as well as the safety around all the pool areas.

When visiting the Sumner Co. YMCA, we have always encountered a helpful staff, a nice & clean facility with good equipment, as well as concerted efforts to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus. Thank you, Sumner Co Y!

Great family location. And helpful staff. Swim staff also great and put up with my rambunctious 3 year old.
