Really enjoyed playing at this golf course. After the new owners have taken over, it has improved significantly. Looking forward to playing golf here more often!

I played here a couple of weeks ago with my dad and uncle who are from out of town. Staff was friendly. There was very little play on the course and it felt like we had the course to ourselves, which was odd considering the absolutely perfect weather. One of the staff attributed it to football season causing reduction in play, but I'm not buying it. My home course is packed this time of year and we have plenty of football fans. I'm only giving 4 stars as a fair review since I think the green fees are a bit high ($75) for what you get. The layout is fun. The two nines are very different, almost like playing two different courses, but both are fun to play. Greens are slow but they're nice and roll true. The green fees cover a cart but not range balls. The range was mats only, which I'm guessing they're working on rebuilding the tee box, but it seems like they've been "mats only" for quite a while. We couldn't get a hot dog or hamburger at the turn since the grill was closed (odd for a Saturday afternoon) so you had to grab a snack and pay at the pro shop counter. They have a huge practice green which they charge people to use and that just doesn't make to me. It's hard enough to encourage people to practice their short games, much less charge them for it. The carts have GPS and have a nice feature that lets you point to any place on the fairway /green to see distances. Some holes are cartpath only so you have to pay attention so the cart doesn't get mad at you and shuts down. That didn't bother us though. Just trying to give helpful notes to the owners from my observations. Overall it was a nice experience, easy to get a tee time and I'd definitely come back.

Course is in good shape. Too many cart path only holes for no apparent reason. No water on the course. Bring your own or purchase in clubhouse. Rough is tough! Better hit it straight!😀

Course is in really shape except for a few bare spot at the end of the concrete cart paths. Greens are in excellent shape. The rough is a ball-eater. I ghink you could stand and just drop a ball straight down into it and still not be able to find it!!!

Went to Pillow Springs for the first time, paid for 18 holes and we were only able to get through 9 due to weather. The course was nice and the greens were technical. I do have two complaints but they didn’t ruin my experience. The tee box’s were extremely hard packed and we broke multiple tees just trying to put them in the ground. Also not all the holes have cart paths and the cart would stop working if you were in a do not drive area but it was difficult to determine where those areas were. Had to push the cart a few times to get out of the zones.
They gave us a rain check for 9 holes.
It’s nice to have a course that is beautiful and affordable. I’m sick of spending $100 a round for mediocre courses that are so packed you can’t finish a round. Not here it was perfect for just a local blue color worker.

I like most of the new layout. (Been about 3 years since I last played here) I do have a couple of issues though. While I appreciate the natural grass areas missing the fairway be less than 10 yards and not being able to find the ball is very frustrating. The greens were very odd to me they wouldn't hold any incoming irons shots but then we're very slow when putting. Overall I still like this course and the price is hard to beat in the area. Maybe if I didn't suck it would have been more enjoyable.

As a Golf Course Rater I was there playing and not rating and here is what I would say if I was doing it as a Rater. The golf course is fun to play, most holes has it's challenges yet gives you an opportunity for errant shots as the fairways are generous. The putting surfaces albeit they are new and look fairly healthy are the slowest I have ever played but I am sure as they mature the speed may increase. With that being said put this one on your list to go play. Overall I will go back in a year as a Rater and see how the course has changed.

I recently had the pleasure of playing a round at Pillow springs, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making me feel right at home. The course itself is a true gem, with meticulously manicured greens and fairways that offer a perfect balance of challenge and playability.
What really stood out to me was the attention to detail in the course design. Each hole presented a unique set of obstacles, requiring strategic thinking and precise shots.
Overall, Pillow was nothing short of fantastic. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just starting out, this course has something to offer everyone. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself – you won't be disappointed!

Went thinking it would be a nice course. Damn place is a goat field. Cart paths are rare and ruts everywhere. Boun e your clubs out just trying to drive. Then the GPS will shut cary off even when you are not in the out of bounds per marker on screen. Waste $140 for two people 18 holes. Do not waste your money until it is $30for 18 holes. Place is a joke.

For the amount of money they charge this place is utter garbage greens are half dead the fairways look like they used a bobcat and just scrapped the bucket across them, the cart paths? What cart paths? Oh and if you go off the "cart paths" they lock your cart down....this place is a joke and they should be ashamed

Literally the worst round of golf I've ever experienced! There was more water on the fairways than the creeks. I understand they ate redoing course and maybe in time it will be nice. The layout has potential, but it's just not there yet. The cart paths or lack of was another issue.

Nice layout. Course has potential. The course needs to be cleaned up around edges of fairways. If you hit your ball a foot outside of fairway it’s gone into weeds. Very difficult to find your ball! It would also make the course much prettier and speed up play

I am very new to golfing, so this’s review may not mean a lot. For the most part, the fairways and greens seemed like they were in decent shape, but I played the rough quite a bit and I expected the grass to be shorter and less mud. The carts were great and the course has a good variety of obstacles and features.

A Disappointing $75 Round
The new owners of Pillow Springs bought the course with the vision of transforming it into something better—but unfortunately, they’ve missed the mark in all the areas that matter to the average golfer.
They’ve clearly spent a ton of money… but not where it counts. Instead of investing in the basics like a functional driving range or playable greens, they built maintenance buildings and a massive five-acre putting green. Meanwhile, the driving range is still a complete dump.
The greens? They’re tiny—about a quarter the size they should be for an amateur course—and they roll like concrete. It’s not enjoyable, and it’s not realistic for 99% of the players who come out here.
They’ve planted wild fescue for rough, which looks nice, sure—but we’re amateurs. If your ball goes in it, it’s gone. A simple solution would be cutting it to a manageable length to still get that pretty contrast with the Bermuda grass, while actually letting players find their ball.
To be fair, the water issues are better than before. But after clearing everything out, you’d think they wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes—and yet here we are.
The cherry on top? They’re charging $75 per person for 18 holes—all day long. No twilight rates, no discounts. For what this course currently offers, it’s a $50 round. I was even okay with paying $60 when it seemed like improvements were coming, but $75 is ridiculous.
Oh, and don’t get me started on the food. $6 for a tiny hot dog at the turn? I pay less for higher-quality brats at nicer courses.
Look, I get that the owners need to make money. But overcharging just drives customers away. If they priced the course realistically, people wouldn’t complain. Earn our trust, fix the actual issues, and then start raising rates.
Until then, this isn’t worth $75. Not even close.

We enjoyed a great outing on a beautiful Saturday morning. It was pretty busy but we’re slower golfers so didn’t mind waiting.
We loved how open and wide the course was while still having some challenging obstacles. No sand either which we enjoyed.
The fairways were in great shape. The front 9 greens were good but still a little sandy. The back nine greens were super fast. The course still seemed under repair in a lot of places but nothing too crazy. I liked how most of the fairways didn’t have cart paths although it was a little confusing at first.
Don’t want to beat a dead horse but we did have some of the issues others mentioned. Several times our cart went into limp mode or wouldn’t operate at all because it told us we were in a restricted area even though we were on the cart paths or in the open fairway.

It's a nice course, but a lot of it was under repair at the time. I would love to score it higher, but it would be unfair to other courses with better circumstances.
The greens are extremely fast.
The cart path is incomplete and has a lot of missing sections.
The restricted areas are not clearly designated on the course, so your smart cart is the only warning system. If you are in a restricted area too long, the cart will automatically power down, and it is difficult to restart.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Hopefully, the course issues will be resolved soon because the construction on the back nine should be finished soon.

Upon our arrival for our 8 am Tee time, I went into check in and use the restroom. Kris made a rude remark about how close we were checking in prior to our tee time. At the time, I thought that comment was rude and uncalled for. As we started to play, we began getting harassing messages to our cart saying that we were moving too slow. The other two people playing with us were getting notices that they were too ahead of pace. There were no golfers behind us through our entirety of the 9 holes, except one gentleman who was walking that we let pass us after the first hole. As we wrapped up the first nine, two of our group went to restart as myself and my husband ran to use the restroom and grab a snack. We were then told by the pacer at the first hole that we were not allowed to play the remainder of our game because we were too behind. We were told by him and Kris that we should’ve played it in an hr and 50 mins. We were currently at 2 hrs and 20 mins. I am brand new to Golf, this is only my second time playing. My husband and father in law haven’t played in over 10 years. Kris’ remark was, “well maybe you should take lessons”, which we are somewhere else. Regardless, the rudeness and disrespect that was shown was absolutely ridiculous. Our same group played on Memorial Day when the course was slammed and Rick treated us with the upmost respect. He chatted with us and even gave pointers. He was so nice and kind, that this experience really upset me. Both men were so rude and mean, it drove me to tears. The icing on top was seeing 4 groups of teenagers dancing on the first tee box, swinging clubs with no care, and acting ridiculous right in front for the man who told us we couldn’t continue. So allowing kids to act that way on the golf course is okay, but a group of beginners who are actually trying to learn the game not adhering to the time you expect everyone to complete 9 holes isn’t ok? I really hope the staff realizes that everyone regardless of their level of golf, should be treated nicely and with respect. We initially set out for a family day of Golf, which turned into a ruined event. This whole situation could’ve been handled differently by communicating in a professional and polite manner.

Course looked really good and the course is 100% on the upswing. However, management wasn't the nicest. The course was pretty opened and I got shamed by the manager and the starter for just showing up.. It almost felt like they wanted a tee time more than my business. Definitely give this course a shot, just leaving feedback for the owner.

Pillow Springs has really put a lot of effort into making a good course. The upgrades from what it was as Stoneybrook are great. I like how the course has blind shots that require you to play irons off the tee instead of attacking everything with a driver. Makes you think your way around the course. Can’t wait for the back 9 to open.

My grandson from Oklahoma and I played the course today. We had a great time and I love the layout and the whole course was in excellent condition. They are working very hard on the back nine and I wouldn't be surprised that it will be open by year's end. Much thanks to the owners and everyone that is working there. This course is great for Maury County and in time it will be known as one of the best golf courses in Tennessee.

Terrible golfing experience for novice golfers. Don’t come to this course if you don’t want to be rushed or talked unprofessionally by the workers who were treating their establishment like it was a high class.
Played 9 holes for $35, what a rip off considering the course was in such poor shape. The greens had spots everywhere and the rough traps swallowed every ball that went into it.
I don’t ever leave reviews but my session today left such an awful impression that is sure to last.
Don’t waste your time and money here.

Disrespectful employee!!! Specifically the older gentleman who worked the counter today. This all happened bc we were 5 minutes late to return the cart we simply lost track of time & Don't get me wrong I get there's a set time for a reason but he was extremely rude by yelling saying we're done and saying that we should have been getting notified that the carts had to be back which we didn't, but then after we returned the carts he came out & said that the we didn't pay for 18 holes which we did & have my bank account to prove it & tried charging us more & calling us lairs saying we didn't pay. I truly believe he was trying to be a complete prick all bc we were a few minutes late. I truly apologize for being late but it was no excuse for him to be as rude as he was. I WILL NEVER BE BACK & now you have lost 3 forever customers!!!
To Owners please talk to this man about his performance before you lose more good customers.

The golf course is going to be great and the staff is great ! I think they may have rushed the rate increase, especially the seniors! I drive from Athens, Al to play and enjoy the course and anticipate the course new renovations, which should justify the rate increases at that time! Only complaint that I have is being paired with people you do not know! I am a bass fisherman, I would be hard pressed to take someone fishing and pick up two more strangers off the ramp and take them with us! Going to be a great course!!!!!!

Worst golf course I’ve played on. Course looks like it’s been ignored for years. Range balls were all over the course. No tees were labeled or had any signage. The cart path was pure dust, and mud in other parts. Collapsed bridges, and greens with half patches of dead grass and others having patches of mud. The holes were ridiculously short. 4 of the back 9 were 150 yards or less. If I wanted a par 3 course I’d go to a par 3 course. Worst course will never be back.

Half the course is shutdown for repairs so you have to play the back 9 twice. The catch is they don’t tell you that when booking a tee time. The nine holes you can play are in complete disrepair. The whole course is a dust bowl and parts of the cart path are blocked off with no real detour marked to get to the next hole. The fairways are bare and cut too low so you are hitting off pretty much bare ground. The tee boxes are not clearly marked nor cared for. We played 20 minutes ahead of schedule but was yelled at for slow play when the group ahead of us were still playing the hole some guy said that some regulars that play in a money game “dogfight” were complaining about several groups pace of play. It was not a pleasurable experience and we won’t be back. Far stretch from the course it once was.

We call and get a tee time for saturday. NOONE ON THE PHONE MENTIONS HALF THE COURSE IS CLOSED. Thats a pretty big deal.
We get there and find out this information and decide to play anyway since we cant get another tee time anywhere else. We get on the tee box and they stop us from teeing off because the group in front of us is late. We wait 20 minutes to tee off. Pace of play is fast. We end up 16 minutes ahead of play by hole 7. There are NO COURSE MARKERS AND NO HOLE SIGNS. We get lost and cant find hole 8 tee box. There are mud pits, dust bowls, and the staff keeps getting onto us for having 5 people playing together. They DIDDNT tell us the course was half closed, they dont have course markers, there are no teebox signs, it looks like a cow field, and they want to be “professional” and “only have 4-somes”?? We are ahead of pace by 16 minutes so whats the issue? Noone behind us…. But your worried about image?
Pick one. Your either a course where people go to have fun and goof off, our your a professional course that abides by the rules. We let a lot of things slide you did wrong but you couldnt let 5 people play together in a cow pasture….

I’m certainly not expecting Augusta, but honesty when booking would be nice. I booked a tee time online which is very convenient, but you have to pay ahead. I have no problem with that, BUT nowhere is it indicated that the front 9 is closed, and they have apparently decided to disregard the care of the back during the renovations. The staff was perfectly friendly, hence not 1 star, but know that when you go here there is no rough, no fairway, tee boxes are bare, and 5 somes with a dog as the sixth are the state of the course as it sits now.

Stoneybrook is a fun course to play. For the average golfer it's a medium level of difficulty. The greens are fairly inconsistent as far as speeds go. It would be nice to see them improved. A little rough shape on greens but overall fun little course. No sand which is nice. Challenging layout. Hole by road is odd but unique.
Update. Sadly I need to lower the rating . Course continues to decline while price continues to rise .Until I see the increase turn into repairs and course get in better shape it is a 3 star. Played a couple days ago and found great in fairway about 1 out of 4 shots. Save money and play elsewhere till late spring and maybe better . Also watch your cart driving .So many potholes you might fall in one as you drive cart paths .Tee boxes are nice to look at but unavailable so you got off uneven ground nearby . Sorry Charlie but charging more for less does not fly here .

The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can almost always walk on because the course isn’t too busy. The course is not in great shape. They take pretty good care of the greens, but the rest of the course is pretty rough. There are no sand traps on the entire course, and the randomly move the tees around at times. But, it’s local and fairly inexpensive. So, I play here but wish the owners would put in some more time and money.

Great, wide open course. Good balance of hard and easier holes with a couple quirks. Wish there was a nicer club house/ pro shop and a drink cart.

Went 3 times before posting a review just to get a good feel. Went weekend and weekday, spring summer and now fall.
Is it the best golf course in TN? No. Is it worth the time and money? ABSOLUTELY!
This place charges substantially less than anywhere else and has some amazing holes, solid putting greens, and the staff is great. I play A LOT of golf and this place is great for going out and practicing your game. They've done a lot of improvements even since I started going in spring and when I went today the course was fantastic. Played all 18 and really couldn't complain. Want a perfect course? Spend another $40 and only go play 9 somewhere else. Want to pay $20-$25 and play a solid 18? Stoneybrook is your place. Highly recommend.

I called to ask if they had tee times available. The guy who answered was rude and unprofessional. He made it sound like it was to late to golf. It was 4:15 when I called. I'm not going to force a businesses to take my money. There are other options. I didn't hear very good things about the course to begin with. I recommend you spend your money elsewhere. They obviously don't need it.

I really hate to give anything a 1 star.
This golf club could really be nice if they'd just cut the Tee box's and Fairways.
The layout is really challenging and most of the greens weren't that bad.
People were really nice golf carts in good shape.
Lots of people using the course so weekdays the deal with spending a lot of time on the Tee box's and Fairways.
