Credit where due, I'm changing my 2 star review to 5 star since the renovation. Truth be told, the bathrooms and locker room still need to be cleaned more often and the club itself can get very busy in the evenings because they're pretty much the only 24 hour fitness that hasn't been shut down permenately in the area but overall it looks like Corporate and the staff at this location have made a genuine effort to improve the club.

I would say that about 75% of the machines are the same ones that were there before the renovation but there are also some brand new ones that is appreciated. They have also repurposed the area downstairs next to the reception area from what used to be the child-care center in the pre-covid days (man I miss those days) to a usable area with mostly squat stations. My go-to hack now is to go there for leg days instead of upstairs because the leg stations upstairs can be very busy at night.

So while I wish 24 Hour would open up more regular or sport locations in the area so all members regardless of membership status can go there, I have to give them props about the improvement here. With the bathroom situation, I think they need to add one more cleaning cycle as well.

I hate giving bad reviews. I absolutely do. Been a member of 24 hour fitness since 1997. I had some health problems earlier this year and hadn’t gone in a while. When I went to the gym a few weeks ago, my membership was terminated. They said because I hadn’t used it in a while. It may have been my fault, since I did get my in wallet stolen and had to get new debit cards issued and never called them. So now I need a membership. The lady helping me said she could get me my old rate back, at $16 a month and get me on my way. I would have to pay two months upfront, which I agreed. So $32 plus tax came out of my debit card. No problem. 11 days later, $64 and change comes out without warning. I called and asked – they said that was some sort of annual fee – which I never paid in 27 years. They said there was nothing I could do about it, this was the new standard. I understand that things cost money and there are fees involved. However – someone just arbitrarily going to take money out of my account without letting me know clearly ahead of time? Absolutely not. I will be canceling this membership and going to another gym. If you think about it, I could’ve gone to planet fitness for five months already at this rate. Absolutely ridiculous/borderlineimmoral. Don’t touch my money without letting me know!

When I first began retirement I was suffering from chronic neck pain and muscle tension from working in front of a computer for hours when I worked for Corporate America. I sought help from Personal Trainer Robert Trevino at 24 Hour Fitness Galleria. Robert was awesome in assisting me with weight resistance training exercises and outstanding professional messages working out every muscle knot in my neck and back.

I continued personal training with Personal Trainer Edan Spencer, who is extremely knowledgeable with weight resistance training for all areas of the body. With Edan's help, I experienced gradual continued relief from his weight resistance training. The help of both Robert Trevino and Edan Spencer along with continuous workouts at the gym completely resolved all chronic neck pain and muscle tension issues. To this day I am completely pain free!!! Thank you 24 Hour Fitness Galleria for all of your help and support you have provided! I don't know what I would do without your facility!!

I've been attending this location for a while, and I love the setup of the equipment, especially the stretching area upstairs by the big windows. Recently, I’ve noticed signs about future renovations, which is exciting. It looks like the renovations have already started, and I can’t wait to see the new look.

I hope they add more space for stretching and working out. I’m also loving the new staff members—Jerry is very helpful, and the evening cleanup guy does a great job. I just hope they improve the cleanliness of the men’s locker room a little more.
The manager, Derrick is very helpful, and always speaks. He even calls me by name. No manager in the past has even spoken to me.

Clean, huge, and in a good, easily accessible location for the bazillion apartment complexes in the area. I think they are recently under new ownership or something because in the last year or so, the indoor temp has cooled off exponentially and it's comfortable. The staff are friendlier, the place is cleaner, and the equipment is in better shape. They're currently remodeling upstairs which will be neat to see when it's done. The biggest draw for me is that I never get bored because they have literally everything you could want.

*update 10/2025* The new remodel and renovations are great! I've only been up to the 2nd floor so far but the layout makes so much more sense. They got more benches and free-weights, yay! It looks great, the new owners and/or operators are fantastic, very involved, always around, want to make this place great. Happy to be back!

It’s crazy seeing 5-star reviews from just a week ago when this gym has been closed for over 10 days. Who’s even writing those reviews and based on what?

This has to be one of the worst gyms I’ve ever been to. The only reason I go here is because my apartment complex doesn’t have a gym, and this one is just a 5 minute walk away. Otherwise, I’d be long gone.
1. Machines are constantly broken. Some of the equipment barely works. Sure, that’s partly on careless users, but it’s also on the gym for never fixing or replacing anything. You charge monthly and yearly “maintenance” fees what exactly are those going toward? The lat pull machine was broken for 5 months straight. A bunch of other machines followed. Seats are ripped, armrests torn, handles broken, and the ceiling leaks some mystery liquid.
2. Way too crowded. It’s like every other closed location dumped all their members here. Good luck finding a single open machine during normal hours.
3. Zero communication. They temporarily shut this location down without telling anyone. People literally walk there and only then find out it’s closed. Now everyone’s forced to crowd into the next closest gym. If you don’t have a car, good luck, the nearest one is on Rice Ave, about a 15-minute drive away.
4. Sketchy reviews. I actually heard an employee at the front desk asking certain people to leave “good reviews.” Funny enough, he skipped me, probably because I was there with a complaint already.
5. Bottom line: If it wasn’t for convenience, I would’ve canceled months ago. I’m going to try the Rice location for a few days, but if it’s anything like this one, I’m done for good.

24-Hour Fitness is closing for 20 days with no solution for members. The nearest gym is over 10 miles away, and with traffic, it’s a hassle. This comes after they already closed the Voss location, forcing me to drive farther.
I regret switching from Planet Fitness, where they actively asked for feedback and were quick to fix any issues. At 24, the staff seems uninterested and doesn’t care about member concerns. If I hadn’t paid upfront for the year, I’d have left by now. Very disappointing experience.

Do yourself a favor and completely disregard all the fake reviews on here that say [employee name] is great and go down to the actual reviews where people actually talk about the gym. Ain't nobody cares that much a single employee at a gym to write that many reviews about them when there is so much turnover.They are obviously shamelessly trying to drown out the truthful reviews of this gym and have been told to "tell your clients to write a google review". I don't know if they got anything in exchange but it's shady. Here is the truth:

1. Parking is limited but seems safe-ish because there is police patrol but you might have to park really far.

2. When you walk in, you have to go up the stairs but then there is usually a table setup where a questionable "nonprofit" is set up and they'll try to keep you from walking up until they talk to you about donating money to them. I say they are questionable because when you google them (and you should google them before giving a penny) You'll see that the "anti-drug" one that is there often doesn't really disclose what percent of donations actually go towards charity vs. all their employees. Regardless, they are there to harass you and get your money. The more polite you are to them, the more they will harass you.

3. The bathrooms are disgusting. Seriously disgusting. There is urine on the floor, pubic hair all the way up to the handle sometimes. How does pubic hair get that high?

4. The Pool area is disgusting and has a mildew smell. Worse, you often see people who aren't swimming just loitering around with their feet in the water. Disgusting.

5. When you do finally make it upstairs, you'll see areas are closed off for "renovation". Again, I put it in quotes because it's been that way for a month now and nothing has changed. They put in a new sub floor and tore off the temporary lockers but no new machines and it looks like construction has been abandoned which is kind of fitting given that this is Houston. This makes the already cramped space feel even more cramped.

6. A lot of the machines are outdated and have issues. In fairness, they have made SOME effort in fixing some but it looks like they are just the leftover stuff from the other gyms that got closed because of the bankruptcy.

7. Overcrowded. This is pretty much the only 24 hour fitness for a very large area. They closed many of the locations nearby and people who had paid for longer contracts were all cramped in here and wait times for a station are just nuts. I know some of the regulars there are already getting memberships elsewhere and there are a lot of choices now with more affordable options.

So in conclusion, I feel that the 1 or 2 star reviews here are a lot more truthful. Really sad what's happened to this once great company.

The gym is poorly maintain. Dirty, missing or broken equipment , weights, mats, and bikes. Needs most of improvement. Nancy’s zumba, body pump and pop Pilates are awesome and she an excepcional instructor. The gym
Needs to hire “ good” instructors as, Nancy and add more clases like, cycling and body combat . Hopefully the upcoming remodeling want take long., as they do kit move Nancy’s clases to another gym for us to attend, and the complete the job within 1 or 2 weeks. Also, they should add a stage for her classes so, she can see everybody and we can all see her.
