SCAMMED AFTER BEING A MEMBER FOR 10 YEARS!

I’ve been a 24 Hour Fitness member for over a decade. My membership was scheduled to end in November 2025, and I canceled it in January 2025. At the time, I was told there would be no refunds, but I would still have access until November — and most importantly, that there would be no renewal charges.

Fast forward to November, and I’m suddenly charged for an entire additional year for a gym I no longer attend.

Two days after the charge, I went to the gym to clear up what I assumed was a simple mistake. Their system clearly shows that I canceled. Despite that, the manager told me the charge would remain and that there was nothing he could do, even though I explicitly stated that I did not want their services and would not be using the facility and that I would like to be refunded.

REFUND ME BACK MY MONEY AND STOP FORCING PEOPLE TO STAY AT YOUR UNCLEAN CLUB!!!!

After 10 years of loyalty, this is extremely disappointing and feels like a complete scam to force people into memberships in this way!

Edit: let’s talk about customer service. I called today to speak with a general manager about an ongoing billing issue that should be fairly simple. A woman refused to provide her name and hung up on me after I asked. I’ve spoken to the gm of this location regarding paying my membership early as to avoid late fees. Every time I attempt to pay early I am unable to do so. At this point ? I’m ready to cancel because for your staff to think it’s acceptable to hang up in a customer’s face is ludicrous and just plain nasty. I asked for a corporate number and she stated she didn’t have one to provide. Never have I ever been treated this way at any other 24 hour fitness location. Train your employees on decorum

I really like it, it's quiet. I like going to the sauna, the Turkish bath, the pool, everything is good with the machines, the staff is good. The only thing is that there are parts of the bathroom, showers, the pool, and the jacuzzi that are sometimes very, very dirty and sometimes you don't want to get in, but otherwise everything is excellent.

High trafficked ok club. It's not as clean as other 24 hour clubs I've been to but it's gotten better over the past couple years. I really do think the newer management has gotten better. The locker room isn't always great but it is not as bad as it was. I also acknowledge that being right off the 75 is likely to cause a high traffic issue of members who don't GAF. This gym is… Fine.

It used to be very nice when it first opened. I had worked out here on and off since it opened, but have now permanently moved on and many of the regulars I got to know have since moved on as well. It’s a shame because it was a pretty friendly crowd.

The equipment is decent (kettlebells up to 70lb), hex bar, plenty of dumbbells available, decent machines), 2 different sled pushes, Trx straps, etc. The the sauna gets hot (around 190 typically). However it just doesn’t have as much equipment as places like crunch, hidden gym or eos. Weights are constantly left on equipment and it always feels like the plate you need isn’t nearby. If you need clips, they are held behind the main desk.

The staff is fine. There are a couple personal trainers that have regular business. If you’ve never worked out before they can show you how to use the machines.

It’s no longer 24 hours (hasn’t been since Covid) but hours should fit most gym goers. I think the proximity to the dart plays a factor here. On the weekends there are frequently people charging their phones and sleeping in the locker rooms on the weekend mornings.

If you play basketball and swim both seem to get used frequently. Steam room breaks often and is constantly dirty. Hot tub looks slightly green at times. There’s damage to the drywall in a few places that has been there as long as I can remember.

My biggest issue is the cleanliness. It simply is not well maintained, the bathrooms smell and showers get dirty quickly between cleanings. Management about every 2-3 months notices how bad it gets, then puts more emphasis for a few weeks that gradually gets worse. Cycle repeat. One time somebody puked in the shower and it sat there for 3 days before being cleaned up.

For the price you can definitely get a workout in… It’s not going to break the bank and it’s not going to wow you. It just doesn’t shine now at all with newer options that are better equiped and maintained better.

Erika is a wonderful personal trainer. She really listened to my hip limitations and found several new exercises for me to do. She was also very observant about the tendency to tighten my shoulders and really helped me to try and focus on the muscle I'm working and to relax my shoulders. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking to learn how to properly use the machines, weights and basically all the equipment in the gym. She really paid close attention to my form so that i was getting the best workout I could. I will be incorporating her work out routines into my new work out schedule.

The gym is always clean and if any equipment needs attention the staff is quick to respond. I transferred from Murphy when it shut down last fall and I couldn’t be happier. I get personal training from Wendy and I always leave in a better frame of mind and I’m sure stronger. The check in crew knows my name and greets me . I have found working out daily(5 times a week) is not a chore when I go to Plano East. Manager Davis is on top of the whole gym: equipment, personnel and the clients. Good job 24 hr!!!

I walked into this location after not being there for a few months and thought it looked to be better taken care of, until I entered the men's locker room. It smells like urine, the floors are wet throughout, and it's obvious the dirt and grime have accumulated for a while. In the restroom area, the floors are filthy, faucets loose, and there's an layer of urine pooled around the urinals along with a waste basket sitting next to one of them as if it's there for patrons to wipe things up themselves. The laughable part of it is that on the way out of the locker room there are signs posted saying the location is under new management that is making cleaning the restrooms a priority with a QR code to scan to leave a Google review to provide feedback of the improvements. There are none. It's as bad as before, and the sign made me laugh. The McKinney location is bad, but it's spotless compared to this place.

Horrible service, false advertising. Went to 24 hour fitness at 930pm yesterday, (mind you the hours are until 10pm) and was told I was not allowed to come in because the location closes at 10pm
When questioned the employee was told to pretty much get lost as they closed at 10pm, requested a manager and was again told no manger available. Can’t get ahold of any one via customer service.
What’s a 24 hour fitness gym if you can’t even go in during regular business hours?
Will be canceling the membership if we can ever get ahold of customer service. What a joke.

I'm only rating this lower because of the cleanliness issues. I've heard the other 24 clubs are a lot worse. I try to be nice but it's almost like they laugh at me though I mention it daily. Mainly I'm bothered by the mold in the stream room which they refuse to fully clean and the spot in the locker room near the area I like to use which is almost always wet and muddy. Or if it's been mopped there's still dirt and dirty footprints. The manager, Kelly, doesn't seem sincere about addressing any of the issues... Oops, the above was from an earlier review that was never sent, these days it just seems like they clean but they've never done a real deep cleaning job which is what is required to start off fresh and then determine if the cleaning is acceptable. I hope you can find time to do that. We would all really appreciate it then we can start off fresh The tiles on the ceiling of the showers also need to be power washed as well as the entire floor and the inside of the locker should be cleaned as well many are very dusty and dirty. Only then will be able to rent if they are doing a good job of cleaning.

Men’s locker room smells of urine. The faucets in the men’s locker room are all broken. The floors are always wet. The padded flooring in the free weight area is cracked and broken with huge gouges. Too much of the upholstery on the machines is cracked and broken. The exercise bicycles need to be maintained better. The water fountains are disgusting. The swimming pool is always dirty. The sides of the pool are disgustingly filthy, and need to be scrubbed. I don’t see any difference between the new management and the old management. It’s a cheap discount gym and it shows.

on the positive side, the staff is friendly, professional, and courteous. They do their best with what little the corporate headquarters gives them. They deserve better. The work out area is generally clean. Most of the machines are well-maintained. The free weight area is generally well organized.

24 Hr East Plano is an excellent gym. Plenty of machines and free weights. If a machine goes down, it is quickly repaired. Pool, dry and steam saunas are regularly cleaned and an amenity a lot of gyms don’t offer. Towel service is offered. Men’s locker room has been refreshed with new efforts to regularly sanitize and clean up. The front desk (Wheldon, Cole, Mai) are always very warm and welcoming. Trainers (Erica and Rocky) are very knowledgeable. GM Davis went the extra mile to resolve an acct question I had. 5/5, haven’t found a better gym in North Dallas. Oh, and so far, no “influencers” in this gym that take more time setting up camera equipment than getting their reps in and moving on.

1) Weldon has been greeting me from afar in the last few months when I entered, often offering help when my check-in hesitated. He carried a smile all the time, and is probably the best human resource around. So, when he asked me to write a review, I said yes!
2) I joined this location soon after it opened, when it was new and looked fresh. With multiple years the owner just hanging on, the floor no longer look fresh, nor the machines. Not too bad, but probably something to consider.
3) The bathroom says there's new management in town, so hopefully it's better. A year or so ago, when it was worst, when I come in around 1 pm, a female was in the male bathroom cleaning. Many of us thinks that's at least better than an unkept and messy bathroom, and it's difficult to hire cleaners for both men and women. But we were just tolerating then. Hope things improve by leaps and bounds.

I come here for weight resistance training. The different machines keep it interesting for me. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable! There are plenty of ways to focus on your particular concern. Group classes, individual coaching and locker rooms. Very happy with this atmosphere, too!

The bathrooms at 24Hr Fitness at Plano have been noticeably cleaner recently. They still need to ensure that the gym is opened by 6am promptly on weekends. There have been several occasions that no employees showed up to open the gym by 7am!

Update: 7/30/2025
The new manager, David, contacted me a few hours after my initial post and acknowledged that there was a miscommunication regarding the opening of the club last weekend, and they were working on improving it. It is a big step-up for a business to own up to their shortcoming. It is a very encouraging sign! I am updating my rating to a 4-star for now.

Great gym, has all of the basic equipment and three Olympic lifting platforms. Staff is helpful, Weldon and Lorenzo are exceptionally nice!
