I don’t recommend this place if you are military, veteran, a person who expects to be treated like you are worthy of dignity, respect, kindness, empathy, and grace. You know, like a human being. I was harshly criticized for running a minute or two late to class. They are very rigid and anal with me about not arriving exactly on the hour. A particular instructor & a therapist there, spoke in a harsh, abrasive, and condescending manner which was way out of line. Also, unwarranted. The instructor failed to use tact while speaking to me, a frequent customer, in front of class. She also questioned me about my medical injuries in front of class, not privately. The instructor condescendingly gave me orders, demanding that I move my personal yoga supply bag to the other room. She ordered and demanded that I take off my yoga slippers and store them in the other room as well. Then questioned if I had my phone on assuming I would and I didn’t. She questioned why I was making modifications to my poses not following her direct instructions like it was wrong for me to deviate from certain poses for my medical safety instead of just accepting the fact that I chose to make modifications. She wanted me to answer to her as if I had explain anything being very invasive about my medical injuries. I guess, I was supposed to follow her exact directions with all poses? After class ended, I confronted the instructor about her approach when interacting with me, one on one. Basically explained to her that her delivery wasn’t received well & unnecessarily abrasive/harsh. She immediately criticized me for being late. She stated the reason why she asked about my phone being off was because I had my yoga bag with me. She apologized once, not profusely as the owner claimed.
Shortly after I left, I received a call from the owner aggressively accosting me about the interaction she saw on camera. I had to be the bigger person just to get her to listen to my side & what she may have not been able to see/hear in the video. She defended her instructor & treated me like I had no right to talk to the instructor about her delivery.
The owner's tact/tone was worst than the instructor & therapist when speaking to me about how she perceived the interaction on camera. It was very condescending. She was in an uproar about me telling the instructor I wasn’t attending any more of her classes. The owner ridiculously criticized me for being a minute or so late, literally for not arriving on the hour. She said it’s considered as stealing time. She wasn’t concerned about my circumstances & why I may be a few minutes late. Moving slow due to injuries. She gave an excuse for the instructor’s approach, stating that she is a “Spanish momma” as if that justifies her rude & condescending behavior towards me. I know that as a richly melanated female, I would not be extended the same leniency had I been the instructor barking orders at customers & expecting them to actually want to stay or even return. Must be crazy. The owner seemed to be biased to her instructor because she justified/excused her employee’s unprofessional interactions with me. She deflected & didn’t accept responsibility.
The owner was unapologetic about unprofessionally accosting me over the phone as a regularly paying customer. She berated me with her title/role as owner as if that is an excuse to speak to a frequently paying customer recklessly. That’s really bad business.
I requested a refund for the remaining 6/10 passes I purchased & was denied. So I told the owner to keep my $100 & I’ll keep my peace. Deuces. It don’t make or break me.
Hopefully this honest account on my experience sheds some light on what’s really happening in these Abilene streets. Real life experiences that we can all learn from. Everything happens for a reason. I’d rather go where I’m appreciated not tolerated. This is in fact a real issue in Abilene. Well wishes. “Michelle & Molly does fantastic donation yoga @People’s Plaza”.

I absolutely love this place! I started out during my first trimester of pregnancy. Each class has its own instructor who are very informative and took time for prenatal poses. Clean energy, positive vibes and clearing my mind while opening my body keeps me going back! It also smells really good too! The Mind Body app is really convenient for booking a session! I’ve been attending almost a year now and AYH has definitely helped me mentally and physically!
Update- It’s been a few years and I still enjoy AYH!

I’ve been a lifelong student of yoga, and throughout my journey, I have studied with many wonderful teachers from various schools of yoga. I feel truly blessed to have found Abilene Yoga House after moving to Texas. Camie is an outstanding teacher who leads her classes with knowledge, experience and heart. She has built a heart-centered community of teachers and students. She is always welcoming of new ideas, encouraging growth, and self-empowerment for teachers and students alike. I am grateful.

This is my home from home, love this amazing community of lovely people. From all different backgrounds, culture, and personality's, they are all kind souls supporting each other. AYH makes me a better person, a place to share experiences and learn from each other. Always building on a better self, mind and body. I wish I could bottle up that amazing feeling after any of the classes from Yin Yoga to Hot yoga, love this community 💛.

As a retired teacher and USAF spouse I have lived and visited many places during my husbands 30 year career. Now we are happy to call Abilene our home. Several years ago I was looking for a place to improve my health and came upon Abilene Yoga House. The welcome was generous and very inclusive. The teachers knowlegable and encouraging. I was intimidated as a yoga beginner but immidiately felt home and welcomed into their community.
I want to encourage anyone, no matter your age or abilities to check out the studio and their schedule of classes. There is something for everyone and Camie ( the owner) is there to help you get started. I have come to love my yoga practise at AYH.

I love Camie and her “crew” and highly recommend Abilene Yoga House. I was a newbie to yoga and had no idea what to expect. I was anxious but EVERYONE made me feel right at home from Day 1. The camaraderie that the yogis share is amazing. Camie goes out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable in their own skin. Being kind and accepting of people different than ourselves requires little or no effort. I strongly believe Camie aspires to and promotes this philosophy in her studio and classes.
Namaste.

The yoga house has the trifecta of what makes a great studio: solid teachers with a variety of class options/times, beautiful community, and vibrant practice space. It’s such a great place to practice! What a gem in West Texas.

As a first responder, I’ve learned firsthand how years of high-stress environments can take a serious toll on the body’s ability to self-regulate. With the constant exposure to the ups and downs of either BS or crisis situations keeping your nervous system on overdrive, and eventually, it forgets how to calm down even while not on the clock.
When I first came to Abilene Yoga House (AYH), I thought a few classes would be a quick fix. That I’d learn a few breathing techniques, stretch a bit, and my system would reset. What I found instead was so much more meaningful.
Several months later, I’m still attending classes because AYH isn’t just about physical movement. It’s nervous system restoration and learning to slow down. Of the classes I have attended the instructors have created an environment that’s safe and welcoming to all levels of ability and knowledge of the practice.
I’ve even invited some of my fellow first responders to attend, because I genuinely believe we all need time to take care of ourselves and we just need a little guidance on how to do that properly.
If you’re a first responder, healthcare worker, or anyone feeling the weight of constant stress, Abilene Yoga House offers a kind of medicine that doesn’t come in a bottle, but provides a space that allows you to breathe and just be you.

I love this space! You can tell that the instructors love what they do, and Camie the owner is generous and kind. It is a great community of loving folks, always welcoming to all. One minor thing, I wish they offered workshops more frequently. :)

Ugh, I adore these folks.
Every single instructor I met went out of their way to make me feel welcome and accommodated, taking time to modify their practices for a very pregnant me.
The owner, Camie, is dedicated to her craft and her people - the love literally radiates off of her and creates this tangible and rare bond between herself and fellow yogis that makes you feel truly connected to community.
Thank you for the opportunity to not just prepare my body for labor, but to make me feel at home - without judgement, concern for time or the outside world…A spiritual reset that we all need and secretly crave.
Also, if you have a chance to attend a sound bath, don’t pass it up! Treat yourself to harmonious bliss and experience frequency healing like none other. So cool!!!

Abilene Yoga House is one of the rare yoga studios that is truly rooted in all aspects of what Yoga truly is, or is meant to be. It offers an array of classes for all levels and all interests, a welcoming space where people won't feel intimidated, and teachers who are deeply committed to both their own practices but also to modifying their teaching accordingly so that their students always feel comfortable. A true gem that I can't recommend enough!

My husband I went on a Retreat this weekend with them to Buffalo gap. We stayed in Yurts. They were so friendly and accommodating. They cooked for us and it was absolutely delicious. We went off and did our own thing at times but also joined group activities. They were flexible with the schedule. Overall, we had a great time meeting new people and trying new things. Great Host- thank you Camie and Natalie!

Had an excellent yoga experience here and would highly recommend to anyone! I am on an extended visit in Abilene for work, and I was lucky enough to find AYH literally 5 minutes from my hotel. The space is lovely, chill, great vibes, and great people. I took Lindy's class and it was rejuvenating, serene, and challenging in a fun way. Will definitely be back.

I was reluctant to try a yoga class again because past places were too fast. Abilene Yoga House is a perfect fit for me!! I'm older and heavier, but they make sure I'm safe and comfortable in each pose, or help me modify pose for comfort. My favorite time of the week has become my weekly class.

My favorite yoga spot! Leave your shoes on the mat outside and enter the calm, peaceful, smell-good space. Although I was rusty and not too confident at yoga, I always been able to enjoy classes here. The certified instructors are warm and friendly, instruct with that specific class group in mind, are informative about benefits of poses, and are helpful with any necessary modifications. There's an awesome uplifting vibe at Abilene Yoga House; I always come away feeling renewed.

My mom showed me this place and we absolutely love it when we can get in a session...
I wish they would let us know that they were canceling a session before we drive all the way out to the other side of town to be told "I am working with a private client today". There have been several times we have tried to go and were not able to participate.
Let me know when we can come and do our last few sessions that we have already paid for....

I'm in town visiting a friend and she told me to drop in on this yoga place. I paid the small $12 drop in fee for a gentle hatha class led by the owner Cami (sp?). I get to the building and immediately took notice that people left their shoes and socks outside under a bench, which was nice and respectful. I walk inside and you're immediately in the yoga space like you just entered a whole different world full of good vibes, peace, calm music, and essential oil fragrances. Cami was very welcoming to me dropping in and told me which materials I'd need for the class. The gentle hatha class itself is the perfect level of intensity for someone who wants to break a sweat, but not too much of a sweat. It was easy to follow the instructor and I never felt left behind. Cami also knows a lot about her craft and I love hearing instructors who speak about which poses help which ailments. I enjoyed this place a lot. If I lived here, I'd definitely get a membership. But I'll certainly be dropping in on classes when I come back to visit in the future.
