I was an active member for 2 years. I’m not one to leave reviews but the way this gym scammed me really upset me. I bought a house and unfortunately I wasn’t near this gym no longer so I had to cancel my membership. January I call to cancel my membership and they said I will be charged 2 more times before I’m officially not a member. I was okay with that since it’s in the contract. I spoke to Cecilia by the way. She said I would receive an email to confirm my cancellation. I never got that email. I checked my junk mail too. I didn’t think much of it but when I was charged a 3rd time 6 weeks later I called again. Cecilia told me she would send out an email to corporate and to be on the look out for an email. I never received an email. Two weeks later I’m charged a 4th time. I call again and Cecilia told me she would send out an email again and told me to be on the lookout for another email. I never received an email. I call two days later and by this time she seemed very annoyed and basically told me it’s not in her hands and all she can do is send out an email. I tried calling corporate myself but apparently these gyms are franchised and you have to get in contact with the gym itself. Once I was charged a 6th time (and zero cooperation from this gym) I decided to contact my bank and let them know what was happening. I blocked them from being able to charge me further. Once I did this I FINALLY received an email from Anytime fitness BUT it was to inform me my bi weekly payment did not go though and I have a pending balance of my bi weekly payment AND my annual fee coming up in April. By this time it’s already April. I initially wanted a refund for the excessive charges, but later I accepted the fact I was not going to get a refund since they were zero help. So now all I wanted was to simply cancel my membership. Why was this so difficult?? I was a loyal gym member for 2 years. But the main reason why I’m leaving this review is because now I have a new debt collection appearing on my credit report thanks to this Anytime fitness gym. After paying and working hard to fix my credit to attain my house I currently own now I have this unnecessary debt collection to my name. To whom may read this, think very carefully before joining this gym because they DO NOT CARE about you once you try to cancel your membership.

Does this gym have everything I need for a good workout? Yes. However it seems like something is always broken and it takes weeks to get it fixed. The restrooms are dirty and sometimes without toilet paper. Paying almost $100 annually for an enhancement fee, I’d expect to see enhancements but there’s none. And good luck trying to get a hold of the manager.

If you’re thinking about joining a gym, I strongly suggest you go to any other gym than this one. The billing practices are beyond shady, this gym in particular is very small, and I’m not exactly sure if this place is staffed because no one ever answers the phone. Save yourself money, and headaches and find a real gym.

Nearly impossible to cancel (even after contract has been honored for 2+ years and expired) and they will automatically renew membership without consent. They never answer their phones and if you try to move your home gym to another area closer to you, the management are the ones that can either deny or accept. We've moved to a completely different city and they have never reached out to us even after we've called this location and corporate numerous times. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. We're about to call a lawyer to figure this out. Beyond frustrating.

First, the contract restrictions are extensive and unreasonable; not only are you asked to pay your normal biweekly fee, but you’re asked to pay an additional amount twice a year to help purchase new equipment…which they don’t do. The equipment is minimal due to the size and almost no space for any functional fitness…which also doubles as vendor space for occasional Etsy-like offerings. While management sits in their office with the door closed laughing with each other, the grime and dust on the machines builds. Half of the rowing machines and half of the stationary bikes are inoperable or nearly inoperable at all times. The front door is a mag-lock that locks you in unless your approach it a certain way or at a certain speed and it varies depending on the temperature…worse when it’s hot…and it’s San Antonio Texas, so it’s hot. It’s the worst contract and worst gym I’ve ever been to, but you can only “quit the gym” if you have a doctors note. And if you choose automated payments and then quit the gym, they charge your two more payments before they let you out of the contract. Don’t even go into these gyms and definitely don’t sign any contract with them. I signed, so I’m the idiot, but at least you now have the benefit of hindsight…stay away! Planet Fitness on Pat Booker is a MUCH better deal in every way.

This AF location has been inconsistently unable to have its full compliments of equipment and particularly the TVs functioning at 100%. I have been at this location since when covid started, March 2020. But most recently, the TVs (5 or 6) of them, not to include the ones on the treadmills are inoperable 80% of the time. I keep asking management and nothing gets resolved. Additionally, as the summer heat approaches the temperature in the gym increases and nothing seems to be done to cool off the gym. There are only two fans on the floor for this size gym....are you kidding me?? The ceiling fans are worthless. BTW, Cecilia the daytime manager has been a great listener. Unfortunately she doesn't own the gym to affect the changes. The owners need to put up or just not care and lose customers.

This gym would be ok if they actually kept it at a safe temperature. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends 68-72° for workouts and this gym is consistently at 75-76°. Makes for a miserable workout. I’ve asked staff more than once to turn the AC up and while they act like they do in the moment, I have never noticed a change in temperature.

EDIT: spoke to the manager multiple times about the AC not working properly - I was told “it is what it is” and that I could reposition the 2 fans around the gym if I wanted to. One morning I was there at 5am, it was 85° outside and the gym was 4° hotter than what the AC was set at. I emailed the manager about that instance specifically and was completely ignored.

I have been a member at Anytime Fitness for almost a decade and have visited clubs all over the country. This is by far the worst I’ve ever been to, enough to make me cancel my 9 year membership and switch gyms. It was apparent to me the manager does not care about her members health or safety.

Pretty small location. Nice bathroom and shower. No place to refill a water bottle other than a regular water fountain.

It probably has what you need, but there may only be one or two of that machine in the gym. When I went it wasn’t busy, but it would definitely be tough to get a workout in if this place is packed.

I went to Anytime Fitness hoping to find a good , trustworthy Gym for my fitness goals . I spoke with Cecilia and she did have a little bit of an attitude, we went through a contract that will include a trainer , it was going to be $249 for the first 2 weeks then an additional $249 afterwards and the she explained the first month of gym membership was included in price. I explained to her that I did not have that amount right now in my bank so assured me that the funds will not be taken out until the end of the month.. the day we agreed upon... I left the gym and a little while later checked my bank account and wouldn't you know they went ahead and charged me the $249 plus and additional $22 . I called her back and she gave me some attitude for asking about the money like it was my fault. . I was already frustrated at that point with the lack of trustworthy I was looking for in a gym and requested a cancellation as that were the terms where I could cancel within a week of signing up.. she then told me they couldn't do that and it would take at least 2 months to receive a refund.. I then called my bank and opened a fraud claim and it will take me 6 weeks to see money. Bottom line . Be careful when you go in check you bank make sure they don't charge you double .

Anytime fitness is a good gym if you know what you're getting into.
Don't forget most gyms like this are contrac based. You can not just cancel a membership even if the staff in the gym says you can. They told me that i had a window of time at the end of the year to cancel it before it automatically reopened my memberhsio, so i did. You can imagine that I found it very annoying that they told me my membership was canceled, only to get a phone call 3 months later saying I owed an ENORMOUS balance because of the amount left on my contract policy that I didn't pay because I thought the membership was canceled. You can only cancel your at the end of the agreed date on your contract.
I only wanted to cancel because my new apartment has a free gym, so I didn't feel the need to use Anytime anymore.
Outside of the trap that is canceling, the gym is okay. Nice staff.
I would think twice about contracts.
See if you can join a wreck center, visit a YMCA, or if you can commit, get home equipment. If it exists, find a no contract gym.

Ive been using AF since December 2023- absolutely love it! Cecil’s López in the schertz gym has been incredible- always welcoming when I enter and supportive of people’s fitness journey.

AF has locations everywhere so it’s super convenient for people who travel. The gym is always super clean, never busy and zero wait times on machines. Definitely recommend!

I have been a member of this facility since 2021. It is now 2024, and I need to cancel my membership. I went over to the gym and spoke with the new manager. She is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Talking to her was like talking to a wall. I refuse to continue any dealings with this gym, and I wish I knew the owner so I could speak my peace. Oh, and the 1800 number you find on the site for anytime fitness..... they can't help you. "Go to your home club".

Am a current member of planet fitness and I give this place a 5☆ Cecilia is a great worker here and always says hi and bye. She give a good experience while I'm here. She also did very well about explaining the membership and that it will renew every 12 months unless you personally ask for them to not renew and cancel it. Place is always cl3an and has wipes for wiping down machines. Will recommend this place to anyone especially that it's not packed with people. I hate crows so it is perfect with me. Only machine I wish they had is one for a inner thigh work out but it's a good gym to be in. Thank you

I’m not sure who is saying this gym is clean. The only good thing I can say about this gym is that it’s not very busy. But it is absolutely the dirtiest and least maintained gym I’ve ever worked out in. It’s obvious that the floors never get cleaned and when equipment breaks, it is out of service for weeks at a time. I’ve also found multiple nuts and bolts loose on equipment. Not to mention the AC has been broken since last Summer, which I submitted a complaint about. I really don’t know why I pay $32 every six months for “maintenance fee.”

I’m planning to switch gyms, which is unfortunate, because Anytime is really convenient for me.

It's a smaller location than some and doesn't have all the equipment I've used elsewhere, but it's VERY convenient. I especially like that we can, literally, go "any time".
UPDATE: If you can go in the early afternoon, before everyone else gets off work, you practically have the place to yourself. Saturday afternoon is good, too.

Great club! Convenient, clean, sand close by. The issue is the company that does their financial stuff. I’ve had to call them several times for taking too much money out and now, for taking a random extra $10.

I call. Of course, I get someone stuttering through scripting that has nothing to do with the issue I’m calling about. Finally, they say it’s my annual fee, but it’s October and my anniversary month is April! THAT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE! Instead of addressing this, he rudely tells me to take it up with the people at the club! They’re just going to point me back to this toll free number because the club people don’t do anything with the money.

I like the convenience of the gym, but hate that they make paying them a pain. I’ll be canceling this membership AS SOON AS my year is up.

Management is useless, because they don't enforce any of the rules they have posted . Too many gym rats starting to hog up equipment at the different times of day. We're all paying customers. You also have too many people not using the cubbies for their gym bags and hanging bags on equipment they're not even using. Unfortunately, this gym has gone downhill as to the people picking up after themselves. It's sad but it may be time to go to another facility or start buying my own equipment again. I've been to other Anytime Fitness facilities traveling across the country, and I have to rate this one at the bottom now. I will give it two stars because it is halfway clean compared to other gyms.

This gym uses a company called FMG Texas LLC to do billing of personal training program. I signed up 8 sessions of personal training in Jan 2020. The mgr made me signed on his computer for a charge of $240 that was supposed to be the whole contract. Then I was charged two more months for additional $480 as a recurring charge without my knowledge. I am having hard time to get them to refund me just $240 since 3/11/2020. Tried to dispute this $240 from Chase Master card without success. I feel I was scammed by their billing process. I could not even go to the gym to risk my life during the COVID-19 period.

This gym has gone down hill since I first started going there three years ago. I have had a Anytime Fitness membership for a total of 4.5 years. I have utilized other locations and this one is by far the worst. When I first moved to the area and started going here I was surprised that it was so much smaller than the others. I was also surprised with the difference in equipment. This gym is lacking in a few pieces that I am accustomed to using. But the staff at the time was very friendly and nice. The manager was always cleaning and always smiling. I did cancel my membership for a year to try out another gym establishment. I came back to Anytime to get back to the smaller quite less populated gym, but I have been highly disappointed ever since. The equipment is always broken, it took them months to fix the cable row and the ab machine. They removed the spin bike and the decline sit up bench. They put in astro turf, which is not comfortable to work out on! This facility only has the recumbent bike which I dont like to utilize. The bathrooms are horrible. They are dirty, and the toilets do not work. When I say the toilets do not work I mean they do not work, they back up on you to the point of over flowing.

Broken equipment, trash all over the floor the last 3 times I've been in and a general lack of cleanliness. Worst anytime fitness in the area frankly. We now drive to another location to work out because of the broken equipment and the 1 member who keeps bringing in his 4 or 5 friends and trashing the place. Totally unprofessional image. Oh and why won't the owner respond to my emails or the complaints to corporate??? What does it take to get action and get this place fixed? Would be a great gym with repaired equipment, a thorough cleaning and enforcing the rules. Oh and remove the duct tape on the curl machine and replace the covering.

If I could give zero stars I would. The worst place ever. Equipment is old and broken, the manager- always says he will get back to you and doesn't. It's been 2 months. He blames the owner for the delay. I have been asking for months for a copy of my contract since it was never emailed to me like originally planned still nothing. I have now canceled my auto pay and keep getting bills in the mail to pay- nope not until I hear from the owner via phone. Since it won't happen they can take my membership and shove it!!! I'm not the only one who has had this issue with this location- it's a joke!!

Anytime Fitness in Schertz, TX is a great place to workout! The staff is friendly and helpful and the facility is clean and maintained. Hiring a personal trainer is the best route to go in my opinion. Rosa has been amazing! She knows just how to push me to get the best workout I can give. The results speak for themselves. I could have never achieved these kinds of results on my own. Especially for me because gym's intimidate me. Rosa has already taught me so much about what the equipment can do and that I really can do more than I think. She's the BEST!
