Original review 2022: I love the organized structure of the class, and my son loves the routine. Once he learned what to expect he really blossomed and is already a very confident swimmer! At 18 months old he can already swim on his own halfway across the pool and hold his breath that entire length.
Update Oct 2025: We've been here for years and still love it. All of the instructors here are incredibly talented teaching the kids and handling all their different personalities and learning styles, even when the same child varies from lesson to lesson (my own!) My kid has his favorite instructors, but even when he has a different one, they always know who he is and what his strengths are and where he struggles.
I also really love how easy it is to change the schedule and sign up for makeup classes. We have a long drive and have to go through a lot of construction areas, so I sometimes have to call while on the way to say we're going to miss our class time, and I've never been made to feel bad about it, and usually (not always) can get a later spot so we don't miss out altogether.
We really love Aqua-Tots Mansfield and recommend it to everyone with little ones

I was nervous about putting my toddler in the water with a stranger. But this place put my mind at ease in the first day. They are so kind and welcoming and very professional. My son loves the water now, no more tears! He can’t swim on own his yet but he at least wants to try. And that’s huge!

We are so thankful we decided to give aqua-tots a try! We were able to see the most progress my son has ever gotten with water. We had our history of swim lessons at places where they didn’t even want to attempt to put him under bc of his fear, so NO progress. He was terrified and after the first few days he walked up and lined up on his own. I’ve seen a few reviews about parents not happy about their kids being submerged when they are fearful of the water. I feel the opposite now, they do need to be introduced to it every lesson to “normalize” it. These lessons are to remove that fear. So yes it will be uncomfortable and some crying/yelling in the beginning. However, They have great coaches that are patient, make it fun, and safe. So for my son it was because the instructors truly care and because of their patience with him, he loves swim lessons now. He had Fedra, so I’m hoping he does well with others in the fall and so on. How my daughter is doing in the advanced classes with different coaches gives me hope they are all great!

Love this location. The front desk has been very accommodating of my instructor requests due to one of my kids being a deep feeling, sensitive child who prefers certain instructors. I love the convenience of the app, scheduling make up classes, the variety of days and times available. Strongly recommend 2x a week classes to really see the progress quickly, especially close to summer. Their fast track option is great however when they advertise “same instructor all week” it is not a 100% guarantee. My kids love coach Emily, Jessica, Rose. Ms Tya and Ms Mia are so helpful with scheduling and making off the cuff accommodations. Highly recommend!

We were not informed at the point of enrollment that they do full submersion. Going into the private lesson, we informed the instructor that our son was very afraid of getting his face wet and to please take it slow. The instructor did not inform us that she would be submerging him at that time either. Through the course of the lesson, she dunked him several times under water even that he was clearly terrified. He is now terrified to be around water and cries when he hears the word “swimming”.

We called and asked for a refund but they stated that they don’t offer any refunds. Even after explaining that we were not informed that he would be dunked on the very first lesson and that he would not be able to take another swim lesson any time soon, they refused to refund us for the remaining lessons. It was at this time that we were informed that their curriculum involved submersion. We opted for private lessons to have a more individualized approach to ease him into swimming. Instead, the instructor just went by the basic “curriculum” and dunked him even though he was terrified.

The office manager just told us to go ahead and file a dispute with the credit card company. Our son went from being excited for swim lessons to being terrified of water. Their unwillingness to refund shows their unwillingness to take any accountability.

We would definitely recommend going somewhere else with better trained instructors who can “read the room” rather than just blindly following a curriculum.

Glad we are finally doing lessons and my toddlers are learning new skills. Well worth the price for peace of mind that hopefully they would be okay on their own. Classes are small, no more than 4 at a time with backup staff on hand. Really enjoyed Ms. Angie and Ms. Emily. Easy to use app and flexible reschedule policy.

We love it here. Coach Leilani is the absolute best! She taught my 2 year old to dive for rings and float on his back for 10 seconds. She is so patient and nurturing. He adores her! My little man also loves Coach Tad. We are so grateful for Aqua Tots!

My daughter’s Level 2 teacher Emily Ortiz is great! She was my daughter’s level 2 instructor and got to know her pretty well. When my daughter moved up to Level 3, she even stopped by her new class to help calm her down since Level 3 is when 2.5 year olds go in the pool without their parents, so I really appreciate Emily for going the extra mile!

I have never had issues and loved this place for my son. My son was extremely sick the night before, and we stayed up all night. I did not get to wake up in time to cancel his class for 10am this morning and get told that he cannot be issued a make up pass. It is ridiculous that I pay monthly these classes, but if one is missed I lose my money. Cancelling immediately.

we took our kid for just one session there last year. my then 4-year-old daughter was not comfortable putting her face under the water and we told them before the class. but the provider suddenly without any notice, took her shoulder and pushed her under the water completely. she was so scared and sobbing. the next session we took her there crying and screaming and we even talked to the manager about it and asked them to take it slowly with her. but they just said, “That's our policy that all kids have to have their heads under the water at each session”. we asked for the private sessions but the answer was no. we stopped sending her there and they never gave our money back. our kid was frightened of water and all the pools for more than a year until last month we found another provider in another pool that she finally trusted and went into the water with her.

I am so grateful for this school and especially Natalie, the Manager. We had initially signed up our two year old for lessons, but it was not working out well for her. We were going to drop them altogether when Natalie personally reached out and asked if we would be willing to try private lessons instead of the typical group ones. It was hard at first, but we realized having our little away from us as her parents was a good thing because it helped her focus and learn.

We have paused the lessons for now due to personal reasons, but we will be re-enrolling her when she is older and able to handle group teachings better on her own. Everyone from the receptionist(s) to the teachers to Management were genuine and kind.

If you have *ANY* concerns, I highly recommend you voice them to the staff directly (not on a review when it’s too late for them to help). This team wants to work with you & see your child succeed. Don’t let one thing that doesn’t go how you planned determine the whole outcome. It’s like the old saying - if at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Maybe try when they’re older, or maybe try a private lesson if you can.

The changes and results within that one month made a world of a difference and I am more confident with my little being in water. I won’t let her be alone without me or my spouse being with her, but she has shown tremendous progress after working with Natalie directly.

Aqua tots has a staff that are so friendly and patient. All the coaches my son has had are all so great with teaching the different skills depending on the level. Also, amazing with having patience when my son or any child is not having a good day. They do their best to work at the child's pace. Aqua tots started out as something to do with my son for fun, where I also learned new things. I learned the real importance if pool/water safety with children and how I feel more confident with my son's awareness and understanding of pool and water safety. Over 2 years later, my son's love for the water has continued to grow since joining and I love his awareness and confidence on the water. I recommend Aqua Tots to all my friends and family with little ones.
Extra thanks to coaches Samantha and Brenna.

While Aqua-Tots Mansfield proudly confirms their stance on pro-submersion, water safety, and it’s vitality to children learning to swim, they seem to have forgotten about customer service, children feeling safe with their teacher, and providing a challenging, yet fun experience for new, toddler swimmers.

As a mom, there is nothing I want more than for my children to be safe in the water. As an elite swimmer who spent the first half of my life in swimming lessons and competitive swim teams, I am extremely fluent in the importance of learning how to breathe, get accustomed to being under water, etc. So having repetitive, condescending conversations about the policies of pro-submersion from the manager, Natalie is an invalidating, moot point.

What my 2 year old experienced today was horrific. Beyond being dunked in the water, as his FIRST time in swimming lessons, he was not greeted by his teacher. After his distress continued, his teacher did nothing to comfort him or build trust with him. Instead, she rolled her eyes and expressed “Let’s just get this over with.” After pulling my son from the class and requesting to have a conversation with his teacher, I was told “She doesn’t have time to have a conversation with you. She’s on a strict schedule.” Yet, she had time to chat with the other children’s parents. I could share more, but I’ll stop here.

If you’re searching for a place that is warm, friendly to new swimmers and prioritize emotional safety and relationship with students, teachers and families, along with water safety and learning how to swim, seek someplace other than here. Your child and your nerves will thank you.

Ownership, maybe take time to acknowledge concerns of parents. There’s absolutely more to learning how to swim safely, than pro-submersion. Thanks.

We attended 7 classes total. Unfortunately, our infant daughter who originally loved the water and being in the pool with us is now very scared and nervous around the water. My daughter has spent majority of the last 3 classes screaming and clutching to me for dear life. The teachers obviously saw her distress. Instead of giving any advice or strategies to help her gain confidence, the teachers would just ignore us and go back to reading their tablets to figure out what “task” we are supposed to do next. The staff were nice but I do not see how this is helpful. For the cost, I would expect to have some instruction instead of just going through the motions.

Horrible experience at this location !!
I would never recommend this location to any parent, especially to parents of a Special Needs child. It’s been three years of trying to get a resolution on my children’s account because my Special Needs children could not tolerate the noisy swim area and extreme overstimulation from the echoing glass enclosure during swim lessons. I have talked to so many representatives, including Manager, and three years later and no resolution, they refused to give me my money back and told me that I could transfer credits to another kid .well I tried to transfer the credit of $350 & now they tell me that the other aqua tots facility /child won’t benefit from the balance credit of $350 unless the child does swim at the Mansfield location aqua Tots! Always something new each time I called this place to get a resolution!!
This place is all about the money and they do not care what’s going on with your child or what your situation is.
My biggest mistake was ever doing business with this location !! Just horrible experience!!

We could not say enough good things about Aqua-Tots Mansfield! As a parent who didn't learn to swim until a fear of water was already in place, ensuring my kids were strong swimmers was a big deal. Both kids started by or around their 1st birthday. My oldest is a proficient swimmer and is now a competitive diver! My youngest is solid when it comes to her swimming skills. Both are comfortable and confident in the water and I'm crediting Aqua-Tots with that. Love the instructors. Love the staff. These are great people and a great service.

I’m throughly disappointed in the experience my child and us as parents had with this aqua tots. In the time she was there from January til April not only did she regress but she never was given any consistency and had 7 different teachers. We asked for to be taught by more experienced teachers and she was still given an newbie and one was asked not to. She had a private session set up and no one alerted us that that teacher couldn’t make it so she ended up with someone she wasn’t comfortable with. Then I politely asked for a specific teacher and was told the date and time for this teacher and without calling or given a heads up her spot was given away and taken. Weren’t refunded for the 8 remaining makeup sessions at all. This was not a great experience at all and I would love to get ahold of corporate if I can.

Thanks to Aqua Tots, my 2 boys swim like fish. It took a while to lay the foundation but seeing them be confident swimmers let's me know the foundation is concrete. Which is VERY important as a mom. Patience is key. Enrolling with Aqua Tots was the best choice because they DO follow the book without compromise. I would rather them take their time and learn it the right way than get in a pool, thinking they know, & have an accident. Aqua Tots is the best.

The staff here is very friendly. The swim instructors do an excellent job with our little one. They give us feedback each time on what she needs to work on and what she does well.

It is packed whenever we come, so it isn't always easy to get a seat, but it works out when classes end. I wish classes were a little more scattered in start time bc when our class ends, there are at least 3 or 4 other classes ending - making it impossible to get a room to change her right away. Ideally, they have classes starting every 15 mins, but I guess as the kids get bigger, they can just stay in their clothes and change at home. She's small enough now where we make it work.

Overall, it is a great place for kids to learn to swim!

I took my son there. They seem to follow a strategy by the book.
They have failed to train him to flip for 5 weeks and the crazy thing is that they are fixated on teaching him by the book.
I am like "move on already."
They could have tried to teach him different skills but no they had to teach him the flip first. And they wasted my money.
It's time to take him to a different swimming school.

And I took him to a much better swimming school. His skills improved alot and they didn't have to fixate on rolling over.

We started here a few weeks ago and love it so far! The website is designed so well to see which level the kids would be at, I had a few questions and they reached out to me quickly and easily signed us up. I can attest the kids are not placed based soley on age, my two are in the same class and they are 3 years apart but have the same skill level. Two other kids are in their grouo and a few years younger than mine. The facility is very kid friendly, I love the big glass window to watch what they are doing and so they can see their grown ups. It seems clean and maintained. The teachers are great, competent, caring and patient. They handled quite well upset child. A huge shoutout to the reception staff, they are always friendly and the nice lady was super accomodating to my request to move days and times around, without any hesitation or issue. I don't have a frame of reference on the price being high or not, it's nice that if you have to skip a class or they are closed you have make up class available. And with the positive exerience, I don't mind if it's on the higher end of pricing.

This is a corporate, factory style place to take your child for swimming lessons. My daughter loved her first teacher and made progress rapidly. Several months later a different teacher was assigned to her class and they didn't seem to click. I didn't think too much of it until I realized I was paying $100 a month for an apathetic instructor to give the same feedback after class every week and display no enthusiasm during class.

Students only spend about 5-10 minutes actively practicing so it makes sense that they progress slowly. I was worried that I was being a helicopter mom until speaking with other parents who agreed that the business model here seems to be slow progression to maintain business/monthly subscribers. Several other parents felt their children weren't actually being pushed in any way to learn and move up to the next level.

I would not recommend this facility. Private lessons may seem expensive up front but I think they are a better value than anything this place has to offer.

The staff is exceptionally friendly, but their program is not. My advice for any parent is to ask what to expect on your first visit. They group the kids by age, not by experience level.

We took our 3 year old son here for his first swimming lesson. Outside of a splash pad, this was his first real swimming experience. Because of his age, they put him in the Leapfrog beginner class which, according to their pamplet, is designed to build comfort in the water. Within the first 10 minutes of class, they submerged him 6 times. 5 of those times were while he was crying. When we spoke to the manager about it, she said that's part of their curriculum and they aren't able to stray from it. She said they are required to submerge them at least 4 times, even if the child is crying. Even if it's their first water experience. Our son now wants nothing to do with the pool.

Here's an idea, Aqua Tots...group children based on experience, not age.

I contacted Aqua Tots in Mansfield for swim lesson scheduling information. They refused to give me information over the phone and hung up on me. They have called my phone number making threats. Beware of trusting them with your children!!!

Front desk workers are rude supposedly they only allow one parent in but you can have three kids with you as long as there’s one parent... other than that I was asked to leave due to the one parent rule but noticed other families that had both parents present. That doesn’t make sense at all! Big surprise I was the only black person present, but such a Waste of time and money if you’re wanting to have an overall experience or a memorable experience.

My daughter has been attending Aqua Tots for over a year now. I appreciate the transparency and communication that the staff provide. I also appreciate that the staff is consistent, and there doesn’t appear to be a lot of turnover. Lastly, Aqua Tots Mansfield has done a great job of adjusting during the Pandemic and implementing precautions to ensure the safety of their patrons and staff. I’d highly recommend this location!

Today was our first time back since the re-opening and I was very impressed with the instructor, our daughter was floating in the water for the first time by her self with one class!! I was also very impressed with the system that they have to ensure the safety of everyone. They are very careful to let everyone in and out at different times and they reduced the number of classes to avoid crowds. I highly recommend Aqua-Tots for your child this summer.

I can’t say enough great things about this school! My daughter went from being afraid of the water to becoming an intermediate-level swimmer in just a little over a year. The transformation has been amazing to watch, and on top of that, she really enjoys each lesson and working with the instructors.

I have a good/bad relationship with Aqua Tots. I love the philosophy - safety first, small classes, swim year round. But they substitute teachers often, which is a problem for kids that thrive on consistency. They sometimes email the day before, but not always. My son had 3 teachers in the first 4 weeks. They also have some truly awful teachers. Destiny spends more time looking around than she does at the kids. Miriam is a huge NO for me and my son. She rushed through class when she started late and didn't respect the needs of individual kids. It was her way or the highway. Mia was hit or miss with my son. 2 teachers that my son really liked though - Kennedy and Lindsey.

This is a great swim class option. They have classes for all ages and ability levels. The classes are small and the kids get plenty of attention. It is a very nice facility with many roomy changing rooms, friendly staff, lockers, cubbies, a hair dryer, and even a machine that removes excess water from swimsuits (don’t know the name of it). However, I signed my one year old up and have had 4 different instructors in like a month and a half. Not sure what the turnover is all about and I could just ignore it but I would prefer to have an instructor who is engaged and invested. The couple of young instructors that I had seemed to be very detached and just went through the motions. For example, for our very first lesson, our instructor called in sick. The following week, we were told he was leaving and we were going to have a different instructor. The following week, we were told never mind he was going to stay after all. Then he called in sick again. Then we were told he’s leaving for sure this time and that we were going to get a certain instructor. Then we got ANOTHER message saying never mind—you’ll be getting this other instructor instead. Maybe the other instructors are great and they’re just struggling to find a good one for the toddlers, but I withdrew my baby for now until they figure their staff out or until I find what I’m looking for somewhere else.

Update: Literally the day after I posted this review, I got a call from the manager who profusely apologized and explained their unique situation. She was incredibly kind and reassuring and even offered me a month of lessons at no charge. Although I had already decided that lessons aren’t for us right now, I do appreciate the offer and her reaching out to me to address my concerns. It made me feel like if a you have any thought or concern about anything, you can bring it up and actually be heard out and get a response toward resolution. Kudos to Aqua-Tots for how they handled this!

Aqua tots have very patient instructors. Our 7 year daughter was so fearful of swimming, her first visit was horrifying to watch... only because we felt so bad for her instructor. However, she has now gained so much confidence and is super excited to take her lessons every time. Each lesson, the instructor will inform us of what improvements are needed and still give praise to our daughter for the techniques she does correctly. Again, this is a BIG THANK YOU to the fun, kind and patient instructors! You guys ROCK!

I love that we never lose a class if she has to miss a day. We just call ahead and she can reschedule the missed class. Totally worth the money in my opinion. I'll be enrolling my infant in the program soon.

Great swim school! I took my 3 1/2 yr old there over the summer and she took lessons once a week (on Saturdays). She was in a group class, but was really only ever 2-3 kids at a time. Classes are only 25 minutes, and they get plenty of 1-on-1 attention. Sometimes, the other students wouldn't show up, so my daughter got a 1-on-1 class for the price of a group lesson. The teachers are all young, college aged adults who are great with kids. The facility even has a kid's section so the kids can play or watch a movie before their class starts. The pool is indoors and behind large glass windows, so parents can look in and watch the class. The only negative would be that there's not a lot of seating for parents. Usually more than one parent comes to the class, and sometimes grandparents and aunts and uncles. So really, they should count on 3-4 adults per one child viewing the class. So they should accommodate more seating for family. Other than that, it's a great place! Very flexible, I was able to re-schedule her swim lessons at the last minute if she was sick or there was a schedule conflict, and she just attended another lesson, no problem. They do swim lessons year round, since it's indoors, but we only took classes for the summer.
