I have been coming to AO for about a year now through ClassPass. This is the first gym I’ve found in Austin where the classes are really focused on lifting heavy and having good form. I wanted to strength train but was sick of going to the big box gyms and having to wait for equipment. Here you get the best of both worlds - class reservations and good strength training and coaching! The coaches are all very knowledgeable and fun. My only regret is that I didn’t find AO sooner!!

I cultivated a wicked tan over the summer and felt I should work on building some muscle to complement my newfound glow. I'm lucky I found AO when I did! It’s been five months since I moved out of Austin, and not a week goes by that I don’t miss AO. No workout class/gym has even come close to replicating what this place offers.

Each class begins with an intentional warm up and ends with a proper cool down to help prevent injury. Every movement is demonstrated and explained, so you actually understand the “why” behind what you’re doing.

Pat and Kylie are the best trainers I’ve ever had. They made me look forward to lifting weights, which I never thought I’d say. I originally joined AO for the workouts, but stayed because of the incredible, welcoming community. Miss you AO!

My son loved AO but has an injury and can't continue. He keeps forgetting to cancel membership and I can't get a hold of him for his membership info.. (I am paying for it!) How can "I" cancel ASAP so my card does not get charged AGAIN! BTW such a great exercise concept .. I am sure once back is healed he will be back!

For the last 13 years, I’ve never been a “class” person. I was always the type to put my headphones in, zone out, and train solo. It worked for a while, but eventually, I found myself burning out—mentally and physically. I knew I needed a change, but I was hesitant to give group fitness a try. I’m so glad I did.

From the moment I stepped into AO, I felt welcomed. The trainers are on another level—knowledgeable, supportive, and truly attentive. They know when to push you, when to encourage you, and they’re genuinely invested in your progress. It’s not a one-size-fits-all vibe; they meet you where you’re at.

The community here is also something I didn’t expect but deeply appreciate. Everyone’s kind, encouraging, and down-to-earth. I’ve even made a few new friends along the way.

I've been going to AO for almost 4 years and it's not just my favorite gym in Austin but also just one of my places, period. (Ask any of my out of town friends, I make sure AO is on the agenda and happily take them all with me) The owners (Brittaney & Pat) are the nicest folks and have built such a kind-hearted, knowledgeable & kickass team.

I just had my first child and went to AO all throughout my pregnancy - all the coaches were so well versed in adjusting the workouts throughout my 9 months and I felt so comfortable continuing to workout even up until my due date. As soon as I was cleared post baby, I was welcome back with hugs, smiling faces and folks cheering me on.

The workouts are challenging but also fun and the systematic programming they have made really helps to stay consistent and get faster and stronger in the process.

AO is more than just a gym - it's a whole community of people working to help you achieve your workout goals and more.

Updating my review 12/2024: This is my favorite gym in Austin, correction, anywhere! I've been a member since 2020 and today completed my 1,000th class! This is a huge achievement because it just goes to show how great this community is that the owners Brittaney and Pat built. All of the coaches are knowledgeable, focused on your form and willing and able to make you sweat! If something feels off, they'll help you modify. They offer a wide range of classes like Fit, Strength, and Power along with group training and personal training too. They even have an on staff physical therapist! Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available to fit whatever your schedule allows. They recently made some updates to the showers, recovery wall & offer merch!

I’ve been going to AO for almost 8 years and don’t know what I would’ve done without it. I recently moved north and it was one of the only reasons I wanted to stay closer.
Brit and Pat are the best owners and genuinely kind and amazing people. They are extremely knowledgeable and truly are what makes AO so special. You will not feel like you’re at a regular gym that is out there trying to gouge you for every dollar, send you a million emails about signing up, and treat you like you’re just a paying customer. I have seen how understanding they are through many different situations and always treat their members with kindness and respect. The culture here is truly why they stand out. I have made lifelong friends at AO because of this.

Besides that, you get such a great workout and I have not only gotten stronger but I will forever want to focus on strength training because of what AO engrained in me.

I've been going to Athletic Outcomes for almost three years now and I can’t recommend it enough. If any place is deserving of 5 stars, it's AO. Here’s what sets it apart:

The Community: Everyone is so welcoming, supportive, and fun to be around. I've been to *many* gyms over the years but never experienced a feeling of community like this before. Plus, the social outings organized by the gym are always a great time and add to that sense of connection.

The Trainers: The expertise of the trainers is unmatched. Many have advanced degrees (including PhDs), and every single one of them brings deep knowledge and professionalism. I never have to worry about injuring myself because they emphasize proper form and provide modifications if needed. They’re proactive*, attentive, and committed to helping everyone succeed.

The Results: I feel strong, healthy, and energized. At 53, when many of my peers are starting to feel the effects of aging, I’m feeling the opposite and I owe that to my consistent workouts at AO.

If you’re looking for a place that fosters a sense of community, delivers expert guidance, and helps you achieve real results, this is the place to be. Plus, Pat's playlists can't be beat. They slap, week in and week out.

I've been going to AO since 2016 and can confidently say that Pat and Brit have built not only the best gym but the best community in Austin. Seven years later I still look forward to going to class every day (even though that means waking up at 5am) and still find the workouts to be consistently varied and challenging. AO has been transformative for my physical and mental health and I'd recommend taking a class to anyone.

Updated review: both during my pregnancy and now trying to get back into working out 10 weeks postpartum, I have found even more to love about AO. The support and encouragement I’ve received has been amazing and the coaches (especially Brit and Mari) are super knowledgeable and have gone above and beyond to make sure I’m modifying to prevent injury and heal in the right ways. If you’re looking to have a fit pregnancy or make a comeback postpartum, I would absolutely recommend attending a class!

I’ve been working out with Athletic Outcomes (AO) for 4 years, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! I discovered AO during the pandemic while searching for virtual workouts and a potential gym for when things reopened. Four years later, and I'm still here—testament to how much I love AO!

AO stands out from the rest. The coaches are exceptional trainers who are both skilled and incredibly friendly. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, fostering a fantastic environment that keeps you motivated and coming back for more. What I appreciate most is the coaching in the group classes. The trainers excel at motivating, supporting, and encouraging you, knowing exactly when to challenge you with heavier weights or push you a bit more. They also offer excellent modifications for any reason, ensuring everyone gets the most out of their workout.

My favorite class is the 6 a.m. AO Fit, but they also offer Strength and Power classes at various times throughout the day. The programming is top-notch, and always communicated in advance.

If you’re like me and a bit intimidated by lifting heavy weights, rest assured that the coaches and the supportive community around you will make you feel right at home. AO truly is a gem in the fitness world!

I cannot say enough good things about Athletic Outcomes! I really feel like my life has changed for the better because of this gym and the people in it.

I started working out 1:1 with Brittaney (owner) in November of 2022. I was coming off of a running injury, a cycling injury, and then two pregnancies - my body was angry, and I was sometimes spending up to two weeks in bed and was unable to walk or stand comfortably due to back and SI joint pain. I was also working with an ortho and a physical therapist (I actually went through two physical therapists who were so nice but ultimately unable to move the needle for me). It's September 2024 and, while I still am certainly very careful about specific movements and double up on recovery care, I'm back to lifting heavy weights in the gym in small group classes, and I don't think twice about picking up my kids, spending all day on my feet, going for long walks, or playing at the playground. This has truly been because of Brittaney's patience and care. She's been very clear that it is OK and GOOD to say if I'm feeling even 1% of my back/knee/SI joint, and quickly and expertly make a modification that works the same muscle in different form. I've worked out in a lot of gyms with a lot of coaches over the years. Brittaney and Pat and Mari are wizards in this modification area, I tell you. They don't get frustrated on week 14 when you're still not at 100% - if you've got a good attitude and you keep coming, they'll be your biggest cheerleaders.

I have worked out with Brittany, Pat, Mari, T, and Chance - I've had good experiences with everyone. Pat is fantastic (I read another review that said the opposite, don't trust that) - he's patient, encouraging, and gives very specific form feedback.

This is not your average "box gym", which I associate with a safety-last, go-heavier mentality - these are very hard workouts (and usually split pretty evenly in terms of gender and age - you'll see the ankle socks and the crew socks, hah), but the trainers don't have an ego and are beyond welcoming. And they're always giving different levels for lots of the sets, so you never feel less than or unchallenged.

If you want a community you can be a part of for the long haul, this might be your spot. Brittaney's stuck with me!

I recently attended a workout class at this gym, and it was an extremely disappointing experience. The instructor, Pat Cook—who I later found out is also the owner—displayed rude and unprofessional behavior throughout the session. From the beginning, he thought it was acceptable to make fun of me in front of the entire class. When I later asked for a modification to the warm-up exercise, instead of asking if I had an injury or why I needed the change, Pat continued with condescending remarks, making the environment even more uncomfortable and unwelcoming.

His actions felt deliberate, as he went out of his way to alienate me for the rest of the session. For someone in a leadership position, this type of behavior is not only unprofessional but also unacceptable, especially in a group fitness setting where members should feel supported and included.

Given that he is the owner, it’s even more concerning that this behavior is tolerated at his gym. I would not recommend taking his class, and I certainly won’t be returning. Pat might be better suited to 1:1 coaching or smaller groups, where his approach can be better managed.

It may seem dramatic to say that joining Athletic Outcomes changed my life, but it is the absolute truth! I just crossed the year mark at AO, and I couldn’t be happier. I started off with personal training sessions with Kylie to get comfortable in the gym again, since it had been MANY YEARS since I had a consistent workout routine, and I was pretty intimidated by gym culture in general. However, Kylie, and every single one of AO’s trainers/coaches are truly so amazing! They each make me feel comfortable and always seem to have the right balance of supporting me but also pushing me when I need it. The gym environment here is truly the best…. everyone is so friendly and nice! If you’re looking for a gym where the trainers KNOW THEIR STUFF (literally top tier professionals! my form has never been better), great structured classes, and really nice people, Athletic Outcomes is ittttttt. Strength class is my go-to when I need to move my body and lift some weights, but I also try to do Power at least once a week (strength training/cardio mix) to push myself! (P.S. did I mention that AO hosts community events so you can meet new friends? pictured is a snap from an all-women community workout class! it was so fun!) This may sound sales pitchy but trust me this is a genuine review, I love AO with all my heart!

I love the Strength classes because I like to lift weights but the Fit classes are also great to pepper in with your routine for cardio. I tried out their two weeks small group classes first (which is so cool that they offer that). I absolutely loved but was still very nervous. AO was first introduced to us by my husband’s bestfriend who went on an incredible weight loss journey. We both wanted an environment and community that kept us coming back day after day without fail and it is incredibly easy to look forward to waking up and heading over to AO (all the way from
Buda, if I may add) to get our bodies and minds ready for the day. All the coaches are so personable and always have your back in and out of the gym!

All the coaches have always been so helpful in accommodating to any existing injuries that may limit our movement, but always give an alternative that burns just as well as the original workout plan.

On top of that, there are programs that accommodate birthing parents such as myself to be able to get the proper movement without adding on any discomfort or pain throughout the workout process.

I cannot recommend AO enough for your fitness needs.

The owners and the instructors have been extremely nice since being at this gym. Wanted to find a gym where I can focus on key goals whether it is strength building or cardio and this gym allows you to make that choice depending on what classes you attend. Strength has been my favorite because it really allows me to get stronger and build muscle. Power is also a nice combo because it throws in a bit of cardio in between heavy weight lifting to keep you conditioned and in shape. Haven't done the fit classes as much just because my concentration has been on getting bigger, but they all seem to be fairly popular. Very efficient too with how long the classes are overall.

I love supporting small local businesses and even more so when their owners are as down to earth, personable and attentive as Britt and Pat.

Hands down, best gym I have found in Austin. If you appreciate being challenged and pushed in the right ways and are looking to be part of an authentic community (**with no egos**), you'll feel right at home at AO. A great diverse set of classes and no shortage of times throughout the day.

After moving to Austin from New York 3 years ago, I stumbled into AO while searching for PT places (after just recovering from ACL surgery) that offered recovery therapies such as plunge baths and compression boots, etc. I was also dead-set on finding a small gym that was more technically-inclined and valued precision and hands-on guidance. Needless to say, I found what I was searching for. After my first class at AO, I was sold.

Tired of wandering into group fitness gyms that place no focus whatsoever on form or technical alignment, I have appreciated the AO staff's personal care and attention that much more.
Since I've moved away from East Riverside, I haven't been going to classes as often lately, but these people have created such an awesome and supportive environment, nothing will keep me away for too long.
Classes can fill up fast and for good reason. If you sign up and go, you won't regret it. Worth every penny.

He keeps things light while still making sure everyone has good form and is following through. It’s been something we both consistently love going to because the workout is fun without being too intimidating or defeating.
