Rob and his team are amazing. I traveled in from NC for a seminar and I couldn’t have found a more welcoming gym. From coaches to members, ABB community has been super amazing to me on my trip. If you’re new to the area and want to get under some heavy barbells, this is your place! Thanks again to everyone there I met this weekend.

I recently moved to Austin Barbell from another barbell club to build community with other weightlifters. The very first day, 10 people walked up to me and introduced themselves. The facility itself has a surplus of quality equipment but I think what makes this place so great is the people. Whether you are on the team or open gym, everyone is very welcoming and supportive no matter what level of experience you have.

Coach Ella is literally the BEST!! She’s so talented, super supportive, and just such a fun person to be around. Every time I come in, it’s such a positive vibe and everyone is so nice. The environment feels so welcoming and comfy, like you actually want to be there. I’ve learned so much and always leave feeling stronger and happier. 10/10 recommend!!

I am new to Oly lifting and the process of getting into the on ramp sessions was simple and very accommodating. Ella and Nate are great coaches and really taught me a lot about getting started. Alexa was great at setting up a time that worked with my schedule. I could t recommend the classes more to anyone who is looking to get a foot in on this sport!

Austin Barbell is amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get into Olympic lifting for the first time or those trying to train for competitions! It’s a growth-mindset, positive, and supportive environment! I did my on-ramp sessions with Coach Ella, and she was such a pleasure to learn from. I’ve never Olympic lifted before but she did a great job of meeting me where I was at, encouraging me and being positive, giving me good cues, and checking in with me about how my body felt and if I was understanding the lifts. Would highly recommend them, also especially because they go beyond just the Olympics lifts themselves, but also work on all the mobility and accessory work that you need to be successful. Overall, great place! Check them out!

I just completed my first on-ramp session at Austin Barbell Club, and it was a fantastic experience! Coach Ella was amazing—she adapted the program to meet my needs while keeping it both challenging and engaging. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, with a great mix of people at different experience levels. The facility itself is spotless and well-maintained, making it a comfortable place to train. If you're considering checking it out, I highly recommend it. Just don’t forget to wear your socks!

I joined ABB almost a year ago, and couldn’t be happier with how my experience has been. From the beginning the coaches have welcomed me and made me feel comfortable learning a sport that I had little background in. I would recommend ABB to anyone, from beginnings to even the most experienced weight lifters.

I’ve been training for since April 2023 at North Barbell Club and I highly recommend it!
1. Coaching: Rob, Christine, and Luis are fantastic coaches and know the exact tips and prompts to get you to understand what you need to do to improve your lifts.
2. Community: there is a great group at Austin Barbell, and the atmosphere during workouts is supportive, energizing, and fun! The community is also incredibly welcoming regardless of age, gender, or experience.
3. Growth: I’ve improved my strength and my confidence over the past 3 months! I hope to enter my first competition this year and know I will be ready when the time comes.

Update 10/23: Competing: If you are interested in competing this is a great place to get involved! I just competed in my first meet and it was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to do more.

ABC is not only an awesome gym to workout in, but a great community as well. I had no prior experience with Olympic weightlifting before, but Coach Rob has a series of introductory one on one classes to learn the basics and set you up for success in the group classes. The defined program is easy to follow but progressively challenging - it’s very satisfying to see your progress over the weeks! The coaches really emphasize correct form, which has been such a welcome change from other gyms I’ve tried. This has meant no injuries and just increasingly getting stronger and more flexible! The group classes have been such a great way to make new friends and get very constructive feedback from the experience coaches to keep improving. Would highly recommend!

I recommend Austin Barbell because they have everything you need to be a successful weightlifting athlete. The coaches not only invest in their knowledge and skills to coach you better, but also in their gym equipment and technology in order to help you achieve PRs. After years of remote training with minimal progress, I decided to make the jump to train at Austin Barbell, and within 6 months I’ve improved my form, I’ve achieved PRs in all lifts, and I’ve competed twice locally all while making new friends.

This is probably the best gym I’ve been to.The environment is unlike any other I’ve been apart of. All of the coaches are incredible at coaching and motivating. I joined with little to no experience in Olympic lifting and have learned so much in the short couple of months I have been here. 10/10 would recommend.

I joined this gym as a total beginner in Olympic Weightlifting. Everyone has been supportive and helpful, from the coaches to the community of athletes who comes to the gym.

The coaches are the best and help you understand the basics to build your practice. The facility is clean and well-equipped. Beyond that, it is incredible to see people coming in to train here from around the country.

Austin's finest Olympic Barbell club where you will find world class experienced coaches who have coached internationally. They provide everyone with continuous coaching to get your technique perfect. The practice equipment is of good quality. The environment of the club is friendly, helping and respectable. The North location is easily accessible from central Austin and as far as Round Rock. If you are serious about total body workout this is the place for you. You will develop muscles starting from the bottom of your feet all the way up.

Austin Barbell North is definitely one of if not the best place to train in Austin, especially for weightlifting. I have been strength training for about 5 years and started at ABB in January of 2023 and in the roughly 6 months since then have already competed in my first competition, without missing a single lift! Coaches Rob, Christine, and Luis are all amazing at what they do, they're very attentive to everyone in the gym and push me everyday to get better, all while being encouraging and uplifting. The community aspect of the gym is also amazing, everyone is very friendly and everyday I come in I know I'll see some of my favorite people. I highly recommend giving ABB North a shot if you love to lift heavy weights with great people!

Love that Austin Barbell has expanded North! It makes for an easy commute no matter where you are in Austin.

I love the Austin Barbell Club! I train remotely at ABB and the staff and members are always so welcoming and knowledgeable. While it isn’t the biggest space, it is utilized well. There is always room to lift whether you are by yourself or sharing a platform with someone else! The North gym is also very sleek and new.

Highly recommend Austin Barbell Club whether you are looking for a home gym or simply somewhere to drop into while you are in Austin!

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned olympic weighlifter, if you are looking for a local barbell club with great coaching and fantastic community, I MUST recommend Austin Barbell Club. I have been member of Austin Barbell Club since April 2022. Even though I have had some experience in the past, joining ABB club was the best decision for me to truly learn the foundation of this sport, the right way. Whether you are coached by Founder/Owner/Head Coach Rob Ronan OR Owner/Head Coach Christine , you will definitely get the best teaching possible. The community they have created is super welcoming and supportive, making it very easy for you to love this sport and enjoy those FUN heavy lifting sessions!!. As an additional bonus, in addition to their South location, ABB club has recently opened a North location to make Olympic Lifting more accessable to Austin community!

I joined Austin Barbell one year ago as a complete beginner in this sport. The first video is proof of that. Over the last year at this gym, I’ve gained strength and bettered my technique, but I’ve also gained friends and community. I threw myself into competing (6 times over the last year) and have reaped the reward. Since this first video, my snatch has improved over 30kg. The proof is in the pudding, y’all! It’s only up from here thanks to Austin Barbell!

I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences with the Austin Barbell community. Not only is the technique and art of weightlifting coached wonderfully, but i also have formed many great friendships. Austin Barbell has a good sense of community and is a fun place to be. There is a wide age range and it consists of athletes of all different backgrounds. Additionally, training at Austin Barbell led me to compete at some of the biggest events in Texas and US in under a year. The coaches prioritize technique and safety, which is a crucial building block for good athlete performance. If there’s one thing I learned about training here, as a person with a 10 year background in ballet, anyone can learn olympic weightlifting, and you can too!
