I took two dance classes at Black Box Creative that were hosted as fundraisers, and I had an absolute blast! I think it’s so incredible that they not only offer high-energy, empowering classes—but also give back to the community in the process. The space was beautiful, the energy was infectious, and every single person I encountered was kind, welcoming, and supportive. It’s such a refreshing and inspiring environment, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. Huge shoutout to Black Box Creative for creating a space where art, joy, and community collide. This is an absolute gem of a studio. I’ve taken classes with most of the instructors and every single one of them is well trained - while they each have their own style and approach, they know how to gauge levels, make classes fun, get to know students, and work around and modify for any injuries or abilities.

The place is comfortable, has changing rooms, and beautiful lights in the studio. They also sell cute outfits and accessories.

The variety of classes is great - there’s different types of choreo, tricks, flexibility, etc. No matter what level you’re at, you will learn something new and have fun doing it, safely.

But most of all, this place is a welcoming community and a safe space for people of all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes!

A safe space for all identities. Starting from the owner, this place has great energy, with an all inclusive practice, amazing staff and clientele. I highly recommend taking spiked pole if you like heels choreography, Shelbi is a very talented pole teacher and all around great individual. Thankful that this side of Austin (Zilker/Barton hills) has this space. Facility is very clean with a sleek design and attention to details.

Shelbi has done an amazing job designing this space and it is such a cool pole studio! I did a photoshoot and Shelbi coached me through a bunch of moves that would photograph well and I can't wait to see the results. The studio is beautiful and the LED lights can be set to a bunch of colors depending on your mood which is so fun!

Black Box Creative is an authorized X-pole retailer, so I was able to order my pole through the company and it arrived so much faster than if I were to order through X-pole directly. They also carry a bunch of Luna Lae pieces at super reasonable prices. Most pole wear companies are based overseas so it takes weeks to receive orders, so I was over the moon when I saw all of the stuff they carry!

My pole journey has grown at an exponential rate since I have met the teachers that work here. The location is great, the studio is beautiful, very well chosen and quality merch for sale on display. Wonderful vibes all in all. Very accommodating classroom settings for all levels and lots of fun classes to choose from. For some reason all the students are so easy going as well. It must be all the good vibes that attract them to this place. You will not regret your experiences at Black Box Creative. Very grateful to have this place in my life.

Me and my friends took a private group pole dancing class with V for our friend's bachelorette weekend and had a ton of fun! It was a very good intro and V had great energy for the class. If I lived in Austin, I'd definitely come back for more classes!

I love this studio! Every instructor I have taken a class with has been amazingly inclusive and kind, really taking the time to break down and explain moves if there is any confusion. The only complaint I have is I wish there were a wider time range that classes are offered - if there were morning classes available I would be there every day!

This studio is awesome with wonderful instructors and a wide assortment of classes stylistically and ability-wise. The space it self is beautiful and features a boutique, locks, nice bathroom and changing areas. The main studio is well designed with high ceilings, lots of mirrors, ballet barres, and plenty of room between poles so you aren't getting your legs tangled with your classmates. LOL. Drama free parking too. Highly recommended!

This studio is wonderful and was my first introduction to pole dance classes. Each of the teachers all bring their own flare and specialty to the table, so there are a variety of class types, options and levels. As an added bonus, the community of students is welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and fun as hell! This has become my favorite place. Black Box Creative is one of the best pole studios in Austin! All of the instructors are amazing and have their own styles of teaching and dancing—there's something or someone for everyone. Students are of all different ages, sizes, ethnicities, genders, and levels of fitness experience. Shelbi, Raven, Zoja, Jackie, and Villanelle are just so welcoming and inclusive. The classes are small, which means you get a lot of personal attention. It's also good for our moment of social distancing. I feel safe and respected in this space. The "Creative" of Black Box Creative isn't just dancing, either. The retail space sells carefully curated jewelry, art, and tarot cards made by local artists.

Had a great class here and came back again! Loved the comfortable and friendly vibe here. Loved the Pole Rebels class - great teacher, great music, welcoming environment for queer and trans students, fun moves and style. The little shop in the front is great too, and the building and space overall are just very cool. Glad I found this place!

This is my absolute favorite studio in Austin! This space is inclusive, supportive and has true community. Plus, the instructors are incredible! I’ve grown so much as a dancer from training here!
