At Catalyst, all of our trainers are experts at what they do. We bring in trainers from many different backgrounds including boxing, parkour, bodybuilding, dance, and yoga. We believe this is what makes our training personal.
Every trainer at Catalyst has been shaped by their background in fitness and knows just how rewarding it is to be in tune with their body. Because our trainers practice what they preach, we are constantly evolving and improving the service we offer to our clients. Our experience as athletes and fitness lovers gives us the knowledge needed to tailor each workout to your specific needs and desires while incorporating our strengths into your program.

Scott and his team have been great! I came here 5-6 months ago, never really having any training/gym experience, and he has both taught me how to work out and helped me gain noticeable strength, balance, mobility, and muscle definition. He's also very attentive to a couple injuries I arrived with, and he has pushed me to strengthen those without taking it too far and aggravating them. I originally planned this as a pre-wedding training package, but I now intend to stick with it long-term!

Coming in I really thought I would never be able to intensely workout again with all of my injuries but Scott worked with me and fixed my issues with my back, hips, and shoulders. I am in the best shape of my life now. Scott is methodical, wise and strategic in his programming. He helps you achieve your goals, prevents injuries and ensures your overall longevity. Plus with the group training pricing model, you really cannot beat what Scott is offering. Don't worry about the group model, you get more than enough one on one time with Scott.

My experience with Scott and Catalyst Personal Training Studio has been great. Scott is very knowledgable on a wide variety of exercises as well as the underlying muscular/motor components behind the various skills. He is very patient and accommodating, constantly asking about how difficult something was, what we liked best/didn't like about certain workouts and how we feel overall. I have been impressed with the cleanliness, organization and safety the studio and Scott have been able to promote throughout the pandemic. My husband and I started training with Scott in his studio in January 2020. He is a GREAT trainer. We have had numerous personal trainers over the years and so we can say with confidence that he is one of the best ever. He keeps things interesting and adjusts to our needs. He is very professional and always punctual. His studio was immaculate when we trained there. When Covid happened, Scott adapted every step of the way. When all gyms had to close, we shifted to in home training. This has been the best thing ever and we plan to continue this beyond Covid. The workouts are tailored to our needs and never boring. It’s amazing what he can do with minimal equipment and body weight!!! We cannot day enough good things. I recommend Scott wholeheartedly!!!

Great small gym with personal attention. Scott the owner is this gyms most important asset. He has an amazing wealth of knowledge about exercise physiology and individualizes your training plan with finesse. I’ve been with the gym for 2+ years and have been able to keep training through a forearm tendinitis and a back issue. Can’t imagine a better set up. Very clean and COVID aware. Only singles or family pods at a time and equipment sanitized religiously.

I’ve been working out with Scott at Catalyst for almost 2 years now, and it’s truly life changing! I’ve always enjoyed exercise from playing different sports and being outside in high school and college, but now as a medical student, I was finding it hard to do these things on my own. I wanted to go to the gym but realized I didn’t know what to do! Scott has been absolutely amazing in tailoring each workout to my needs, and I’ve seen so much progress not only physically but also mentally. Scott is an excellent coach, who strives to stay up to date on the latest research on nutrition and exercise physiology. I really appreciate the fact that he is analytical in his approach in training, and also has the experience to say what works and what doesn’t. Working with Scott and his team at Catalyst Personal Training has been life changing. Scott designs multiple exercises which keeps it interesting and balanced. He is attentive and makes sure that you aren't hurting yourself but still pushes you, often beyond what you think you can do. The gym is comfortable and clean. I am also doing this in a duo training session (there are two of us he trains at the same time) and this has worked out well. We do different exercises so we don't overlap each other in the gym nor have to wait on each other, and he gives us ample attention, tailoring the exercises to each of us. It is an investment but its an investment in your heath. Highly recommend.

We’ve been going to Catalyst for a little over a year now. Scott has been a very effective trainer for us. He provides the right amount of feedback and encouragement. This is a commitment and it isn’t easy. Scott will work with you to do better all the time. Exercises are challenging and varied. You will be sore but it is worth it. At one year, we have both seen increased strength and endurance beyond our expectations and we are very grateful. It remains one of the best decisions/investment we have made. If you are looking to personal strength training, please try out Catalyst and their trainers.

For the past couple years I've trained in boxing with Amanda Garza. She is an outstanding trainer and customizes the session to my needs. I appreciate that she's always pushing herself with new certifications that she can then incorporate into my training. The gym itself is fantastic and well maintained. After a year and half, I still haven't used all of the available equipment.

Finding a personal trainer is very different than simply joining a gym. You have to be able to put total trust into a trainer who takes the time to get to know your goals, needs, and limits. That trainer has to understand what you are capable of and what your threshold is - so a customized fitness program can be created just for you. Scott, the owner of Catalyst Personal Training is just such a trainer. His vast knowledge and expertise combined with extreme patience has made my 2.5 months at Catalyst a wonderful experience. I couldn’t imagine I would enjoy exercising so much!
Every session is a different work out. Scott takes the time to explain the purpose behind every exercise so I understand the reason for the motion and the weight. He evaluates his clients’ progress and continually challenges, sharing in our victories. When I have a setback Scott is right there to put me back on the road toward my goals. Catalyst does not have an intimidating environment like many hard core gyms. It is relaxed with no pressure and no competition – that is Scott’s influence. His clients are his first priority. I like knowing that for that one hour I’m not just a membership number – I’m a person that my trainer is putting forth effort to help fashion a healthier, fitter me. That’s what makes Catalyst Personal Training and Scott special.

If you are new to the world of fitness (like I am), Scott is incredibly helpful and patient in teaching you new exercises and making sure that your form/technique is correct. Not only is he very practical, but he can also push you to work harder without being annoying or crass.
He also makes sure that your goals/expectations are realistic as well, which gives you a sense of fulfillment and achievement when you reach them! Moreover, I love that Scott is quite flexible in his schedule (Given enough time, of course) and really tries to work with your schedule. Very important!!
In short, it is definitely money well spent.
Although the gym can be a little hard to find at first, it is especially clean. Also, the people I have met there (including other clients) have been very welcoming and encouraging... which is a huge plus for me. There's nothing I find more intimidating than being the fat kid in a room full of jacked guys who can eat you for breakfast! There is no such thing here at Catalyst-- only positive vibes.
A great sign of any professional is the willingness to receive criticism and feedback, and Scott really takes the time to listen to your feedback (and to answer any science/fitness questions you may throw at him). This is Houston's hidden gem.

My experience has been excellent. Scott, my personal trainer, has worked with my schedule and he has always shown confidence and positivity and all that I do. Seven months ago I came into this with severe back pain, knee pain's, and tendinitis in my arms and Scott has coached me on different techniques assisting and alleviating the pains to where I'm very impressed with what I can accomplished today. Catalyst Personal Training Studio is the ulitmate training facility in Houston. I have dropped weight, gained muscle, and found out how much I really do love to work out and "dig deep". Frank has a passion for fitness and it shows in his gym and how he trains his clients. This place is my happy place 3 X a week!

I have been working out at Catalyst for almost 5 years! (I didn't realize that until I sat down to write this post). Lori has been my trainer for the last 2 years or so. She does a great job of changing the workout up and keeping it fresh. I have also had the pleasure of working out with Scott. I've been doing personal training at catalyst for about a year. The gym is small, so if you are looking for that LA Fitness experience this is not for you. But if you like to work out with genuinely good people (like Noel and Amanda, and owner Scott), this is the place for you. If you like stairs - instead of stairmaster - this is the place for you.
At Catalyst, I feel like I'm working with people who are trying to get me fit and not trying to sell me new packages or get me to buy into a crazy fitness lifestyle (like some Crossfit type gyms).
One more note. This place is clean. One cannot overvalue a clean gym.

I've been a client at Catalyst for over a year, which is a tribute to the quality of personal training I receive. Here's why I love it:
About my trainer: I train with Scott, who also manages Catalyst. Scott assesses your goals and develops a plan to meet them. I particularly appreciate that Scott strives to keep things interesting, which is really important for me, because I will quickly abandon a boring program. He pushes his clients just enough -- he won't let you quit too easily, but without being aggressive (which I've experienced with other non-Catalyst trainers). Scott has an encyclopedic knowledge of workout programs, which has been very helpful for facilitating workouts that do not aggravate my pre-existing shoulder injury.
About the gym: Catalyst is in located on the first floor of the Tradition Bank building. There's plenty of parking in the attached garage. The studio is petite, but there's plenty of room for even those exercises that take up a lot of floor space. Additionally, we take advantage of the top floor of the garage when the weather is nice (which offers beautiful, unobstructed skyline views), the ramps in the garage, and the 9 levels of building stairways. We also run laps outdoors. I particularly enjoy varying my warm-up laps and running around the nearby museums. A lot of the workout are body-weight focused. However, there is also plenty of equipment (e.g. kettle bells, free weights, Smith machine, treadmill, elliptical, weighted balls, boxing equipment any many other things that I can't think of as I type this review).
About my workouts: I used to train one-on-one (which was great), but Catalyst recently created an fantastic option for group workouts called "Open Gym." Open Gym requires a little bit more independence, as there are usually 2 to 4 people working out at the same time, each with a circuit that is designed for that individual "trainee." Open Gym is discounted from the usual rate, and it is flexible: I believe you can come in any day Monday through Friday for a set cost.
Overall, this place is great, Scott is an excellent trainer, and I am really happy to have found a training gym that I don't dread visiting. Check it out!

Great local gym. Catalyst is a very intimate place when you can work out without all the "noise" that you would find at lets say a 24hr fitness. Frank is also what makes this place special. I have worked out with a number of different trainers in the past, but for the last year I have been training with Frank at Catalyst. What a great experience!! Here I am an individual and my workout is designed for me. It is obvious that physical fitness is very important to Frank and that he gets great satisfaction and joy from working with his clients. He has a talent for getting the most out of you in a positive and compassionate way. Equally important is his awareness that "fitness" is not just about body but also about mind. His encouragement throughout a session is constant even when he is asking that you give just a little bit more. When I have finished a session, I leave Catalyst knowing that I have just had a terrific workout, that I have given it my all and am eager to return for the next workout. I can see the results and feel the results and there is nothing better than that.

This place is life changing. I have never felt stronger physically or mentally than I do now and I attribute my strength to the full body workout I get here. At Catalyst they skip the traditional boring machine workouts and I am pushed to and beyond my limits in the safety of this studio.
