I've only ever been to planet fitness before Chuze. Crunch was a a new option at the time but when I compared both there wasn't anything that stood out at Crunch. It was kind of a sad environment. When I visited Chuze it was still under renovation/construction, yet I still felt that was the gym for me. From the friendly staff and great amenities, to the environment and people that attend this gym. Everything is great! I have the Premium plan which means I pretty much have access to everything there and I can gladly say I'm not disappointed by any of it. Great job to the Chuze team at Transmountain, I will and have already recommended people to Chuze this gym.

I've been coming to this location since it was EP Fitness, off and on for a decade. Just recently got back after a hiatus and the remodel is a little odd. For some reason there is a movie theater now. I can't imagine why anyone would pay a monthly gym membership to watch old movies at the gym when they should be focused on working out. There's also a juice bar now so you can juice at the gym. Would've been cool for chuze to have invested in some different equipment with the rebrand. Most of the pin loaded machines, from what I can tell from memory are the same machines just with maintenance done to them to look fresh. Would be great to get the t-bar row back, standing calve raise machine back. There are many new additions to the gym such as the cardio equipment, deadlift platforms and their corresponding power racks amd the turf area. Probably far too many flat benches. Gotta be prepared for international chest day though, I guess. Would be nice to start seeing some new specialty machines come in though.

Nothing is worse than getting an early morning workout and have trash pop music bleedng into your headphones. This is not a club!

Might be controversial but the ladies that dress half naked should not be allowed to enter the gym. There are kids going to daycares, couples, and people that believe in common decency that think that is not appropriate.

Better than crunch? Yes, but that’s not saying much.

I reD the negative reviews and all I can say is Haters! I used my pass and though I'm often times a little intimidated, just about every person big or small, is crazy friendly. The machines are up to date, the smoothie bar is very reasonably priced. However, the managers particularly Josh go out of thier way to meet you, make you feel apart of the team, and help you u derstand the equipment. I love this place. Thanks Josh!!!!!

Best messy gym in El Paso. No matter what time you go it is always a mess. Weight plates everywhere, lifting racks will have bar with plates and what is up with the dumbbells? I have to walk in circles to look for one dumbbell and another as they are not in pairs and just scattered everywhere.

Location is convenient, staff is friendly, facility and locker rooms are clean and well maintained. 2 stars is for the environment. There are no weight trees or racks anywhere so people put their weight back (if at all) and grab it from wherever they can get it. Dumbbells are all over the place. The rack is labeled but you'll find 20s next to 70s. I spent a big portion of my workout, looking for the appropriate weight. People will do what they can and they've been allowed to do this so it will continue. I tried the 7 day pass, but I will pay for the respect elsewhere. The respect people have for the equipment, other people and their time.

This gym is a huge improvement from EP Fitness! While I think it’s the best gym in northeast EP, I do have a few suggestions/complaints;

1. What’s the point of reserving the Recovery Room if you still have to find an employee to enable the chairs?! We have to scan into the room, so imo that should be enough!

2. Why is the music volume in the main gym and in the Cinema Room always on low?! You have great speakers, turn it up high!

3. You should add a few Stair Master machines to the Cinema Room.

Big gym with lots of variety, but is a mess. Weights are not racked correctly, have to look around at two different racks for each one I needed, as they are scattered everywhere. I come in at 5am when gym opens and it is a mess. Plates on benches and floor, weights everywhere. Idk if the staff is lazy does not clean up, but I been to many gyms where they are cleaning and organizing the weights and benches. They should enforce more rules to members if there not going to be cleaning up.

As someone who comes here often, I never had any complaints. However, I feel like this has begun to become an issue to where my workouts at Chuze have been ruined and I'm probably seeking else where to workout. Mainly because they don't prioritize benches or smith machines for women who want to do leg day. They are always changing the layout of the gym and switching machines around which really throws me off.

Secondly, in the other large area with free weights, there is only about three regular versatile benches infront of the mirror. The rest are some weird ass arm benches where you sit down to do arm curls. They have like almost four of those infront of the mirror which I think is really unnecessary and it's not in high demand compared to regular benches where people can do many things on them. So that means the limited regular benches are always taken, and I'm forced to do Bulgarians on some weird arm machine. My suggestion is to reduce those arm benches infront of the mirror to one, and replace the rest with more benches. Literally we just need regular versatile benches infront of that mirror.

Thirdly, I came in today and asked to borrow a squat/neck pad. Only for them to tell me they are suddenly not letting people borrow them??? So now I'm forced to do 100lb hip thrusts on my pelvic bone. Very painful and that didn't last. I'll invest in my own barbell pad but that's more stuff I have to carry and it really threw me off. Not sure why they don't allow us to borrow them, but if it's due to like people stealing, all Chuze can do is implement a sign in and sign out system like planet fitness does for barbell pads.

Also, a lot of the stair masters don't work. There's times I'll go on one, press go, and it won't even start. I'll go to the one beside it, and it'll do the same thing! There's days where like 3-4 stair masters are bugged out and won't start. Then there's one specific stair master where when you start it, its belt is like scratching on something so it delays the speed. So when I'm doing lvl 10 I'm really doing lvl 4.

My last complaint, is that there is limited smith machines. And whose bright idea was it to put a smith machine in the stretching/grass area. There's only 3 and that is definitely not enough.

Like I said, I feel like chuze doesn't prioritize women's needs for workouts as much and it's making my experience and other women's experiences worse or inconvenient. There is a high demand for women who need smith machines for hip thrusts, or benches for Bulgarians . And I'll see them eyeing to get on one because it's always occupied-especially during minor peak times. ( Also high demand for men who need smith machine for arm days as well. ) yet they decide to add more weird arm benches infront of the mirror.

You guys should really stick with one layout because it's inconvenient and I shouldn't have to go to chuze wondering if the machine I use will be there or not.

No squat rack, no bench, no deadlift space. Weird machines and weird placement of them. This gym is for senior citizens so unless you like being the covid monster I wouldn’t go. The staff at this gym are a bunch of children and the people attending are all old. You can’t use your phone and they are expecting the gym be kept clean yet don’t provide towels or sanitizing wipes. Cutting a lot of corners and just a disappointing environment. Definitely recommend La fitness or 24 hour fitness over this weak gym. Technical about silly issues and it’s just pathetic. So..so of a gym. As a "ORIGINAL MEMBER," of the gym before they even opened and started a business with sign-ups. They DENIED a continuation of a freeze of my account during Covid unless I had a "DOCTORS NOTE." LOL. I thought that was super lame and unprofessional. I am not a fan of their business practices. Chuzr has been one of my go-to gyms for quite some time. With the numerous locations in Southern California along with the amenities...you can't beat this place.

I opt for the premium package which includes the tanning, infra red saunas, and hydro massage beds.. almost forgot the guest privileges as well at no added cost.

I do have memberships at LA and 24 hr as well, but you seriously can't beat this place. I used to go to 24 hr for the steam rooms but with COVID, there's no reason to anymore.

If you need a good local gym, with great classes, this is the place to go. I hope you all enjoy this place as much as I do.

I had a mishap today at the gym on the treadmill . I lost my balance and scraped alot of the skin off of my shins and cut my hand . Bianca was INCREDIBLE . She didn't hesitate to clean my wounds and her genuine concern was heartwarming to say the least . The young people who work here are outstanding . We have been members at Chuze for over 4 years. During COViD they were randomly closed which is understandable. However they charged us the full membership even though their facilities shut down all the classes and massage and sauna which is what we paid extra for.

Throughout COVID, we tried to put our membership on hold but they would not let us. We saw random charges in our account and when we called they said it was for the days when they were open vs closed. Between the random charges and what was going on with COVID, we decided to cancel until we could get back to the gym on a regular basis. They would not let us cancel online or over the phone. They made it very difficult for us to do anything with the account without physically showing up to the facility.

When we came in to cancel our membership the person at the front desk said I had to give 10 day notice and he would have to charge for the next payment. Talk about adding insult to injury
It was terrible handling of clients and terrible business practices.

Chuze is soothing to me because of the cleanliness, the colors, and the positive energy to name a few. There are over 15-20 locations with 8 of them right here in San Diego. Although group fitness has been affected by the pandemic, there are so many updated workout equipment, including weights and a fully loaded weight resistance room available for our convenience. There's cable TV all around. The Chuze Fitness in Chula Vista has a huge family room that looks like a movie theater workout equipment instead of seats. Hydromassage is also an incentive. All of this plus more for an incredible low price. So worth it.

It is a small location but not small enough to get all your work out done. Love their infrared individual sauna and I don’t think I ever waited too long during my free trial. Amazing fitness center and amazing people. I can't thank Christian, Kylie, Cody, Michael and everyone enough.

These folks always wear smile on their face and that's the first inspiration to start work out as soon as you enter chuze fitness center. Cleanliness, friendliness in whole of fitness center is added bonus. I made so many friends there in no time.

No wonder I lost about 30 pounds in less than 4 months surrounded by all these amazing people.

Yesterday night working out in Rancho Bernardo Chuze Fitness a staff associate had a word with me I was looking to long at another member, I was shocked at his approach toward me a an the way he mentioned the accusations . This gym marrow and small crowed in the peak evening. So whenever you look for the next machine occupied or not you will be looking in everybody’s direction and moving to different workout machines. This makes me upset and falsely accused I did nothing wrong. That night gave me a bad experience at the gym and don’t want to go to this location or just quit Chuze Fitness.

Needed a gym for travel and they offer a month to month membership for $40 bucks. Probably a little high considering their 12 month special is $10 per month. But I needed a landing spot and decided to use their facility while in town.
The gym itself is medium size with all newer equipment. Tons of cardio machines (bikes, rowers, ellipticals, steppers, treadmills). They have plenty of TV's hanging for the cardio area and have assigned stations, such as CNN, Fox news, ESPN, CBS. You can plug into the cardio machine to listen or just read the closed captions. They offer popular classes such as Zumba, Yoga and a seniors class. They offer these during prime hours. They have one of those 30 minute circuit rooms for quick workouts. The free weight area is a bit small and can get crowded. I have tried going during peak and it's hard to get a routine flow going, so I stick to off hours. There are a lot of stand alone cable weight machines as well. Things they don't have are basketball, pool and 24/7 hours. Being in Rancho Bernardo I am not sure they could support being open 24/7 so the hours seem right. They just don't have enough space for the other amenities some other gyms offer.
Now the most impressive thing about this gym I have witnessed. The staff seems to be well run and are always friendly and helpful. The gym is one of the cleanest and well maintained I have seen. This relates to management and the team in general. They are always cleaning. You don't really see staff hanging out by the counter for long periods of time. They seem to be constantly moving either cleaning or checking to make sure equipment is functional and in the assigned spot. They also always greet you with a smile and tell you goodbye. Overall I don't see how they can improve on this facility other than a little more free weight space. Will be using this gym as my travel spot in the future.

The only negative is it is a smaller gym and you might have to wait for a machine. Like for example the smith machine they only have two and it’s always occupied. Alex the Trainer is my boy. He's not only very knowledgeable but is constantly educating himself and doesn't just rely basic training certification like other trainers out there. He's truly passionate about health and fitness and best of all he cares about all his clients.

I have been working out for years from 24 Hour to small boutique places and I love the change of pace at Chuze. A huge selection of cardio machines, great selection of weight machines and cables, plenty of space for mini crossfit style workouts if that is your thing.

Alex the trainer has been a great person to talk with. I have never actually paid to workout with him and he still will give me pointers every now and then when I have questions on everything from form to stretching. Just a great personality to have around when you have questions.
The entire front desk staff is also very nice and helpful when you need them.

Pros: not crowded
they keep people off the phone in the workout area
helpful staff and even more helpful trainer
VERY clean

Cons: no squat rack, no wifi (both of these were never deal breaks for me but that is why no 5 stars)

I like everything about this gym, and the only thing that prevents me from a 5 star review is the lack of WIFI. It's crazy. I go to several other Chuze locations, and the RB one is the only one without WIFI. This needs to change ASAP. I know members complain about this EVERYDAY. People use WIFI constantly when working out, be it Pandora, You Tube or hundreds of other applications. PLEASE ADD WIFI NOW!!!!!
