We have canceled our family membership, which we primarily used at the Cibolo YMCA, due to a lack of professional communication and seriously unfair billing originating from the Schertz YMCA management.
Two months ago, a minor incident occurred involving our toddler at the Schertz branch. We addressed the situation immediately with the staff, disciplined our daughter (who was not brought back to any YMCA facility afterward), and spoke with the other parent, who was understanding. While the matter appeared resolved, the manager later pressed my spouse for an unnecessary follow-up conversation. Subsequently, my spouse and I checked in a couple of times ourselves. Staff failed to notify us of any membership issue during these visits.
Despite this, two months after the incident, and without any notification via phone, email, or mail, the Schertz manager placed a suspension block on our family’s access to the YMCA network. This demonstrates a serious lapse in professional communication and customer service.
The most egregious issue is that the YMCA proceeded to draft the full membership fee from our bank account for the cycle after our access had been suspended. In essence, the organization suspended our access without notice and then charged us for a period during which they actively prevented us from using the facility. This is an unacceptable business and billing practice.
The combination of the arbitrary, uncommunicated suspension and the unauthorized billing forced us to cancel our membership immediately. We believe our account should be refunded for the unauthorized draft.

Cibolo YMCA is an excellent gym with a fantastic staff. The basketball court is top-notch and there’s always a great coaching team available. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, and the equipment is regularly sanitized. I always feel welcome and supported whenever I visit. Highly recommend this gym for anyone looking for quality facilities and a positive atmosphere.

Poor baseball coordination. There is no following of baseball rules and teaching kids the fundamentals. The “umpires” don’t pay attention besides to see if the batter swings even at balls. Everything is a strike, kids called out when kids play a foul grounder, and just poorly organized.

MUCH better than Schertz for kids care. Schertz child care area was horrifying and I was scrambling what I would do for a gym break with my infant. Thankfully I came here and they were just amazing. If you’re a parent looking for a ymca with staff that care skip Schertz, Cibolo was amazing. The staff just seemed happy to be there, the kids were well supervised and it allowed me to catch my breath.

a very mean worker… is name is marcus, there was volleyball going on and me and my friends came to play basketball not knowing there was volley ball, we came in here and saw that they were playing but only using one side of the court so i put up ONE shot and he came at me very aggressive and said you guys can not play so we stopped thinking it was only because we were playing basketball .. and we found a volley ball also we saw other kids playing volleyball who are not on the team so we thought it was okay to play volley ball so we played and no joke we played for maybe 2 minutes MAX and he said “GET OFF THE COURT IM NOT GONNA TELL YOU AGAIN” and proceeded to call on his walkie talkie and called over the sports staff and pointed at us ONLY US and she was very kind and didn’t come up to us but he was very persistent on getting her to talk to us, this is very disappointing and also why i prefer the schertz ymca

Pretty good atmosphere, we went for basketball games, so they don’t allow outside food and drinks, they do allow water. Can be a little dangerous driving out of there, because of the oncoming traffic, good thing for the police presence, they really watch the speeders 👍

Looking for a clean safe place for my grandson to participate in sports and activities. So point one, clean and appears safe. Point two, cost is reasonable for gymnastics with a fabulous coach. Point three, soccer was a goat rope...if you are from the south you will understand the reference. We paid 200 plus cost of uniform. The first practice we discovered we did not have a coach so a parent with a little soccer knowledge stepped in for the day. She ended up taking her son elsewhere. So next game, same story, no coach, a parent stepped in and so on and so forth. Disorganized is putting it mildly. While my husband coached for our daughters when they were in sports...and I was team mom, girl scout leaders, dance mom, etc. we did so as we knew the small fees for the sign up was to cover the equipment...yes we had to supply the game ball as well at YMCA. Don't get me wrong, great fields, great facilities, and obviously other great programs. I would say if you can't hire someone to coach, referee or manage the program you would be better off not dragging down the rest of your programs with those you are unable to manage. He's four and was happy to play but learned little about soccer.

This location sucks. They will mess up the addresses on your child's entire sport schedule then they don't have their actual phone number listed on Google if you try to call for clarification. They have the number to a call center on Google. You can't even suggest an edit of the number to Google. Every time I sign my child up for a sport here I regret it. Last time the entire season was in New Braunfels. Why the deception?

This gym should not run leagues for they just want your money . It’s no competition cause they will let you end in a tie .The worst thing is they will not let you watch the other games cause of fire hazard well I’m sorry you shouldn’t try to run leagues out of a workout facility.

Wonderful facility and staff. The only thing I wish is that someone would’ve provided more information or a pamphlet on how the child watch works and the rules. It was my (1 year old) daughters first time in any type of childcare so it would’ve been nice to have some info on the website or something to give me an idea of how it would work. No one really explained it until our third visit. With that said, every staff member I interacted with was amazing! The childcare staff woman was friendly, you could tell she was experienced and I felt comfortable leaving my baby with them. Extremely friendly front desk receptionists and one even helped me change my membership to the Cibolo one since we live here and got a bit of a discount. The gym is a bit small but it has literally every strength machine/equipment you need and plenty of cardio. I’ve never had to wait on a machine. The members I’ve interacted with are also super friendly and kind. Overall just very welcoming and a great community resource.

This facility smells nasty, very small and terrible selection of equipment. Would guve zero stars if i could. I just wanted a day pass to go with a friend and the lady made me pay a whole month ($50 btw). The front desk lady was so rude and non helpful. They sanitize the toys before the gym shuts down so when a kid wants to come in and play with toys they tell them no… I thought that was the whole point of child watch was for my kid to play while I workout? I joined on line over the weekend and did a tour on Monday. The facility is nice and very clean! Not a ton of machines but more than enough for the amount of people there. Lots of weights, ellipticals, and body specific machines. I love the interactive bikes and treadmills.

The staff is very friendly and answered all of my questions. It was recommended to download the app so I did and it is awesome! I check-in via the app and signed up for classes at the Cibolo & Schertz locations.

They also have a mini computer lab with free printing! Its definitely worth the price, the ability to pay bi-weekly is awesome as well!

Our home location is Mays Stone Oak but when we had games here the facility is very clean. Easy to find off the main road and they follow strict COVID guidelines which was a plus! Good open seating for parents and safe place for my kids. Restrooms were clean and water stations were open for bottle refills. Did not use the gym, childcare or the office space they have. But really nice place. Lots of parking.

This is the tiniest YMCA I’ve ever seen, but the equipment is the very best! Top of the line! I hope they forecasted a growing population in this area because it’s not as nice to work out when the guy in the bike and the lady bench pressing weights ask me what I’m listening to on my headphones!!
