I have not been back since Covid hit but had trained for about a year or two in total. I think they changed locations so the pictures on Yelp are not what you will see. The new place must be much bigger.
The thing I was most impressed with here was the positive reinforcement given by and dedication of the instructors and the owner.
I have been a teacher before and so I know how hard it can be to always be on the top of my game and giving my attention to students but here I can not think of a single day when one of my trainers (Aubrey and Liz mostly) was not yelling at me telling me I was doing a great job and that I could do it. Richie, the owner, is the kind of guy that will give 100% regardless of whether there were 30 students or just me alone in the morning.
They were really great about letting me go month to month without any sort of contract. I would just get a reminder via email that a new month was approaching and I could log on and pay there.
Richie spared no expense when it came to equipment too. Half the gym is basically a legit power-lifting platform with nice and even floors that are kept clean between classes so you don't have to worry about dropping that 225+ lb clean and breaking stuff or catching something when you drop for some pushups.
The only cons I can think of are pretty inherent to crossfit and not the gym itself.
It is super high intensity and so you have to be very careful not to overreach.
It is always super hot in the summer even though they have a huge industrial-sized fan blowing circulating air.
I suppose if anything they could upgrade their subscription to music so there are no commercials. It would be kinda funny when you were getting in the zone for a big lift and then have all these commercials come on to spoil it for you.
6 am was also a bit late in the day for me. It was bit hard to get to where I needed to be at 8 am when starting at 6 so I would have preferred a 5:30 class.
Overall a good experience. I moved on to more gentler forms of exercise but if you are looking for a place to do your high intensity workouts this ain't a bad place to look at.

Absolutely love it at CrossFit Galveston. I did the 6 week challenge and lost some serious body fat. Usually when I lose weight itβs a combination of fat and muscle but with the challenge I lost body fat but my muscle mass actually went up! The environment and people make it fun and easy to really push yourself. The trainers are right there with you helping you with form and learning the new exercises. It made me feel so comfortable even though I didnβt have any lifting background. 100% would recommend for anyone looking to make a real difference in their life and health.

The 6 week challenge is a great way to jump start your fitness goals. The staff is friendly, helpful and encouraging. An added bonus is that the atmosphere in the gym really does feel judgement free. Clean restrooms and enough equipment for everyone involved.

CrossFit Galveston is more than a CrossFit gym, in my opinion it's a community where everyone encourages and motivates each other to do better in order to reach their personal goals. I personally did the six weeks challenge and loved it! During the whole challenge I felt supported and comfortable enough to text any questions that I had and got an answer almost immediately. This gym is a family that welcomed me and supported me with my fitness journey. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a crossfit gym!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Everyone is so welcoming and inspiring and coaches are very helpful! One thing that stood out to me here was that everyone here is wanting you to win and succeed. CrossFit is a lively place to join for fitness training. It is a judgment free facility with professional trainers. Every kind of fitness equipment conceivable is provided. They have their own parking space. Street parking is $1.50 an hour from Monday to Saturday and free on Sundays. There is a parking Pay Station at the corner of Postoffice and 24th street.

I'm really glad I decided to take the 6 weeks challenge! I broke my kneecap back in May 2018 & gained more than enough weight during my recovery this past summer. I didn't feel like myself anymore & when I saw the post for the 6 weeks challenge I knew I had to take a leap of faith and push myself to get back to being the active person that I once knew. Thank you Richie, Krystal, & Aubrey for EVERYTHING! I now have the foundation to continue my workout goals to become stronger & more healthy then before. Y'all are awesome!

Accessible location - especially if you're near UTMB. The coaches are super motivating and genuinely caring of your progress. Everyone there - new members and veterans alike - are supportive. It's a great place to start if you're looking to get into a workout routine - the group setting will motivate you to push yourself and the workouts are varied so you don't get bored. The structure of the workouts is nice if you like knowing exactly what to do when you step into the gym. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

Galveston CrossFit has the best trainer/staff ever. During my 6 week challenge, they continued to be great trainers and always providing us with great feedback. Voted Best Fitness Venue in Galveston for 2017 for good reason!!! I'm 62 and love the boot camp classes! I achieved more than I ever thought was possible because of the incredible coaches and I kept going because of the encouraging community of people! Love this place!!!

They just moved into a new gym on 24th and post office and I must say it's awesome. This new location provides a lot more space and brand new remodeled bathrooms. As a newby I love going to the 1130 classes which tend to be less crowded. Either way everyone is incredibly nice and welcoming, unlike some gyms which become more competitive. The owner is even working on a secure location for kids to play at while you work out!

I have fallen in love with CrossFit over the past 9 months! I wasn't very fit to begin with, so don't think that you have to "get in shape first" to come here. Everything can be scaled/modified for fitness level or if you have any kind of injury where you can't do certain exercises.
It's so gratifying to see yourself get stronger and faster every week! That's the great thing about CrossFit - the workouts are so different every day that you never get bored or feel like you're getting tired of the workouts. You just get hooked and want more!
Another great thing about this gym in particular is the culture - everyone is supportive of each other. It's so encouraging to have people cheering you on to the finish line of your own personal race! Personally, it pushes me to work harder than I would if I were just working out on my own.
A lot of people have told me that they are afraid that they will get injured doing CrossFit. Maybe, but only if you don't listen to your body. If your knee or shoulder is hurting you - take it easy. Don't "push through the pain" or you'll have a serious injury on your hands and you won't be able to come back. It's worth it to take recovery breaks or even "quit" a workout because you're hurt. Crossfit is about pushing your physical limits, not breaking you.

This Box is by far the best! Head coach Richie SanGregory is the most intuitive coach I've ever worked with. He truly works with each and every member, he knows their abilities and limitations, and he knows how to get them to the next level even if your main sport is not crossfit. I searched for sometime for a gym/coach that could enhance my marathon and triathlon training and I found it here. The other members are super supportive, down to earth and extremely friendly. A very comfortable place to be.

I'm naturally averse to the normal gym culture, I decided to give them a chance and drive by one day. Best thing I've done in years! I love the family I have gained from my visits here. Such a great, welcoming, supportive and motivating group of people.

I started off doing Project Fit since I had never done Crossfit before. Richie was great! He is very knowledgeable and is always willing to work with any scheduling issues or physical problems you may have. He knew when to push me a harder and when I was ready to progress. I've been working out at Crossfit Galveston for a little over two years and have gone from being a couch potato to running 5k runs and being able to lift more weight than I've ever done, not to mention losing about 85 pounds. I decided to give crossfit a chance and took CrossFit Galveston up on the first trial class being free. It thoroughly kicked my butt (not in a bad way, just in a oh geez what did I get myself into). I bought myself a month pass so I couldn't make excuses. Thank god I did!!!!
I have been a member for over 7 months and have consistently been going 2-4x/week. The owner/coach, Richie, does a tremendous job scaling everyones workout so it is doable and safe, yet challenging. When I started, I was very out of shape. However, I never felt shame or embarrassment while at the gym. There are people there of all skill levels and as long as you are motivated to better yourself, you will LOVE CrossFit Galveston. I have definitely seen improvement- I can run farther and faster, and I can lift heavier weight. Give this place a chance- you will meet wonderful people and you will LOVE the results of improving your endurance and strength.
