This is my first experience with a Crossfit gym and I absolutely love it! It's a tough workout for sure but the coaches work with you to modify anything to your level. The coaches and members are incredibly supportive and welcoming. It's also the perfect location for anyone living along 1385 :-)
UPDATE: I have been going for over 2 years now and love the gym even more now than I did at first. I am almost 50 and this is keeping me fit and active. Plus, the people rock.

This gym is great and the experienced coaches are patient and helpful teaching me all the proper moves since I’ve never done cross fit before, nor ever been in any type of gym. I just started my crossfit adventure in my 40’s and the crossfit workouts push me to levels that I've not ever reached with home personal trainers/P90x type exercise circuits I've done in the past. I would highly recommend! The location is convenient and everyone is so very pleasant to talk to before and after each class.

Great gym filled with knowledgeable coaches and friendly faces. I’ve heard great things about CrossFit and have seen multiple people turn into straight CrossFit nuts and could never understand the hype. Now that I’ve tried it..I get it! Though it looks intimidating, I’ve felt at home since day 1 from having having coaches answer all and any of my questions/concerns to just having others around me motivate me and each other during a class. Equipment’s cleaned after every class, have seen floor mopped the same (first gym I’ve been to where I know it’s being cleaned) and safe environment with a good balance of both men and women all shapes and sizes - high motivation.

CrossFit Slake was great! I dropped in while visiting from Florida and everyone was so kind! It was a partner wod and sometimes being a drop in can be awkward when trying to find a partner, but it was easy here. Everyone introduced themselves and made it feel like home for the day. Awesome community and atmosphere. I’ve gone to 3 crossfit gyms over the years and Slake by far has my favorite programming. Very challenging but impactful workouts. Of course you can scale any workout if you’re a beginner but for people who only have 1hr a day to workout Slake will make the most of that hour.

Amazing gym with great people! This gym is truly for all levels of fitness. I had my first ever CrossFit class today and everyone was very friendly, motivating, and welcoming. I definitely will be joining CrossFit Slake! If you are interested but hesitant about group fitness or CrossFit they have a drop in pass, which I used, and everyone was very friendly from the start as if I was a regular member for years.

My experience after 3 weeks has been solid with CrossFit Slake. The members are supportive and instructors are patient and make sure you understand what you are doing. I feel as though I am getting stronger. My body isn’t yet making the physical adaptations I would expect but I know it’s changing even though I can’t see it yet. Consistency is key for anything. Week 4 coming up and I will keep coming and working my butt off!

I've dropped in here numerous times and always love it. The programming is tough but can always be scaled. They have a lot of nice equipment that they maintain and keep clean. The coaches love the people and are there to help. The community is fantastic! That was evident when I went for Friday Night Lights during the open. I highly recommend it!!

Crossfit gym is excellent. I can't do all the exercises, so I always get modifications. The modifications motivated me to continue going to the gym. The coaches are excellent and encouraging . If I could give higher than 5 stars, I would!!! The common misconception, the even I had over 4 years ago, was that CrossFit was for a very select group of people. What I have come to find is that it is for everyone, on any health journey, and at any fitness level.
The reason this works is because of the people. Jen & Brian embody what it means to be supportive, caring, fun, and awesome owners. Not only are they constantly going out of their way to ensure each person is welcome; they are exceeding expectations when it comes to inclusive fitness.
Looking for a gym, and owners, that care more for who you are, if you are working towards real fitness goals for you, and will over deliver in every aspect.. look no further.

My wife and I have both been working out at CrossFit Slake for over a year now and are so glad we found it. We've tried a few other CrossFit gyms in the past, and this is by far our favorite, which is most definitely due to the community - we've made some great friends here! The owners frequently set up events to bring everyone together, and all the equipment is very well maintained. The workouts are a challenging mix of strength, cardio, gymnastics and there's an additional strength training class on Saturday mornings if you're looking to fine tune your technique. I think whatever your goal is - to lose weight, gain muscle, participate in CrossFit competitions - you'll find people here that are in the same boat and will definitely keep you motivated. I'd highly recommend the Slake family to anyone!

I never understood Crossfit as an "outsider" and never really looked into it. However during the hight of COVID mid 2020 I was depressed and needed to do something active again. It was close to my home so I joined and never looked back. Crossfit Slake and their coaches are beyond amazing. I went from knowing absolutely nothing and nervous, to confident and healthy very quickly. The Corssfit Slake community is truly a family and they are now forever a part of our lives. One night in December of 2018 while I was browsing my FB, I came across Crossfit Slake. They were advertising a free 6 Week Weightloss Challenge. This peaked my interest as CF Slake was literally a 5 minute drive from my house. I was getting fed up with being overweight so I decided to join the challenge. At this point, I weighed a whopping 255lbs, 80lbs heavier than when I graduated college 😒
My first class was on Saturday December 29. I'll never forget, it was a Squat Clinic. Basically, it was a technique class on the proper form of different variations of Squats. This was my first real experience with Crossfit. Coach Chris, the former owner of CF Slake, was great. He took his time instructing the class and spent time with each individual in the class. I never knew there was so much technique involved with just a regular air squat. I was sore for a week! I had good first class, and continued to come back.
19 months into Crossfit and I'm hooked. I went from from working out twice a week to working out 6 times a week. I've lost over 45lbs to date and my fitness level has dramatically improved. I'm in better shape than I was when I was 18 years old. The main reason I've stuck with it is the community that you find at Slake. The coaches and people I've met at Slake have become some of my closest friends here. They're encouraging, helpful and fun to work out with. When the workouts are as hard as they are in a CF gym, it helps to workout with people you like, and that's what you get at Slake.
Crossfit Slake recently went through an ownership change in March. The new owners, Jen and Brian, have made some great changes to Slake like adding new equipment and classes, and will even add Open Gym and Specialty classes like Olympic Weightlifting in the near future. Also, given the uncertainty that Covid-19 has brought to every business, Jen and Brian have taken all the steps to ensure the safety and health of their members and coaches. They are also very interested in creating a diverse and inclusive community at Slake, and given the current climate we are all experiencing, I can really appreciate the steps they've taken in creating this inclusive culture at Slake.
With all that said, if you are someone that wants to get a little bit more fit and healthy, I highly encourage you to give Crossfit Slake a chance. You won't regret it! Don't worry about your current fitness level, weight, experience, or age. Crossfit Slake is for every one...you just have to take that first step and show up to the gym 😎

Coaching is great. I used to lift weights but stopped years ago when I started having lower back issues. I've been doing a lot of endurance running the past several years and wanted to get some strength training back in my routine. I've been coming since August, & they've helped me scale workouts to get my core and lower back in shape. I've seen great results and my lower back is definitely stronger. I joined CFS on the 6 Week Challenge to lose weight and get in better shape. I started off with 3-4 days a week, but quickly jumped up to 5-6 days a week! The meal plan, the workouts, the coaches, and every member in the gym are fantastic! They break down every movement and make sure you are comfortable before jumping into a workout. The other members working out with you consistently encourage you to keep working.
I was less than a pound away from hitting my 20 lb goal after six week, and one of those weeks I slipped up during a Christmas vacation. I feel better, I look better, and I am more confident working out now than I have been in years. I am so glad I joined Crossfit Slake!

Bottom line: I am absolutely an advocate for CFS. I joined during one of their famous 6-week Challenges. You may think it relevant that I chose to not continue membership following the challenge, but I assure you this was because of my personal situation and NOT because of the quality of the service. Here are 5 solid reasons CFS is worth a try:
1. You will find all the coaches extensively credentialed and knowledgeable, both about the movements and workouts but also the nutrition. They know the nutrition options available and how to identify what's good and what's not.
2. They KNOW how to get results, no matter your fitness goal. By following the suggested nutrition and exercise plans, I saw many in my limited time losing fat fast while still feeling great. Personally I wanted to bulk up, and I gained 12 lean lbs. during the 6 weeks while losing 1% body fat.
3. Everyone from the coaches to the other athletes are very friendly and welcoming, no matter your experience/fitness level. Coaches are motivating but not forceful. Living the glorious pain of the workout with the same people each day brings friendship and accountability.
4. CFS adapts each workout to your personal fitness level. No matter your experience, age, or body type, they are able to adapt each movement to challenge you appropriately.
5. They take time to develop flexibility and technique, especially if you're new. These are important pieces many people skip over.

The coaching here is amazing. They spend time going over the movements for everything and break them down into small parts and put them together slowly every workout. If you haven't worked out before or it's been a long time since you have this is the place for you. The people are amazing!!! Once you get into a routine here they also have additional things that get you great results like nutrition coaching and advice. The coaches make themselves available all the time via text or Facebook if you have questions. They truly care about everyone no matter their skill level.

I have been going to Slake since Feb. 2017. Everyone always has a smile and a positive attitude. The trainers accommodate every fitness level and every workout can be scaled to fit you, but you will still feel the push from the group to go a little harder and get a little better each workout.

Every coach simply cares for your well being. It's obvious that it's a top down effect from the owners, Chris and Shawna, to the rest of the coaches. The philosophy is to grow as a family and push one another to achieve your goals and believe in yourself. The facilty is perfect for what I was looking for. I've been to "nice" gyms before, but you walk in and walk out and nothing changes. Crossfit isn't about the bells and whistles. I keep going back because it's exactly what I need. This is the only time in my entire life I've been regularly physically active and I owe it all to Slake. The community and the unmatched caring from the coaches makes this CrossFit gym unbeatable. I have learned to exercise and condition here and have truly fallen in love with my daily workout. I'm in the best shape of my life and I could not have done it without Slake!

Incredible gym. Thankful for the coaches that take the time to work with everyone individually and strive to help each person achieve their goals. Crossfit Slake has become home away from home. This is the best gym “box” I have ever had the privilege of becoming a member of. I have met so many of my personal goals of losing weight, gaining strength, and just being comfortable in my own skin again all thanks to the remarkable and client centered coaching.
