Well I wasn’t going to leave a review but some things happened that bothered me.

1. They had an older man who was openly watching porn in the sauna with other men, who had been reported for doing so several times. I saw him and reported it and they didn’t bother to kick him out even though kids under 18 use the sauna they don’t seem to care about that. Real nice culture they are building there. He still works out there currently.

2. Tried to cancel my membership as I haven’t been in Abilene for a few months and haven’t been using the gym. They told me I have to come all the way back in person or I have to mail them a letter. After asking if I could speak with a manager and just send a email they just hung up on me without connecting me with anyone wasn’t rude or anything.

3.locker room is always gross and they used treated wood to replace old wood in sauna which is dipped in chemicals and harmful to breathe in. When I brought it to their attention they didn’t remove it or change it but left it not caring whether it has harmful effects on their members.

Hope this helps if you’re looking for a gym in Abilene.

Update: owner commented he would have regional manager get with me. Didn’t happen nobody contacted me. I had someone drop off a letter in person more than three weeks ago and was charged on my card today. So the saga continues 😂

The staff is what makes this place worth showing up daily when you have the least motivation during the week. It varies on days where you find yourself waiting for a machine or other days most machines are empty. For the most part it is clean but I do wish it smelled way more clean like Covid era clean

Crunch is a very below average gym, it’s dirty, they don’t clean or stock any of their equipment, and 90% of the workers their come off like they don’t like nor care for their job. It’s cheap but for what it comes with has price, if the show with bosses going uncover at their company was still around and the CEO of crunch went to this building, it would be shut down immediately. I was a loyal customer to this company for 3 years using the same crunch card. I wanted to use my benefits I pay hard money to go into their pockets for, the workers randomly tell me I don’t have a membership and my card simply has never had an account. Mind you I have been using that card to log in for 3 years and I had also used the hydro chairs more than a dozen times just to be told I’ve never had an account. I was dealing with this issue in a severe unprofessional, lack of miscommunication, and overall not understanding what their job is and what is happening. I was given an attitude because the unqualified workers themselves were confused, clueless, and useless. So that alone begs the question, if my card membership never existed and I was paying for some other account why was I let in just fine for 3 years and able to use the hydro chairs multiple times? And I’m seeing in the reviews multiple things just like this issue has happened to many other people. I was told I was kicked out and given an attitude by all the workers in the building. The most embarrassing workers and management I literally have ever seen in my entire life. It is embarrassing to be such an unprofessional aggressive uptight worker about the company crunches mistakes. And even seeing the bad reviews I see the manager/“owner” (lol) coming off so back handed and actually giving an insulting attitude to at least 85% of the people who have anything bad to say about them. It speaks volumes to the state the gym is at today and it really is a telling sign that crunch is unfortunately doomed to be the next Hastings and replaced with something better, and that will solely be the workers and the management’s fault. This incident happened over a year ago I’m just bringing it to light seeing everyone else’s similar story’s and reviews while also seeing the “owner” is keeping an unprofessional attitude to anyone that has anything against the company to say so that way they don’t have to face their actions or consequences. I now only go to crunch to help friends that still use their membership work out because it’s CHEAP and even now absolutely nothing has changed, and you get what you pay for in the company’s money hungry eyes. Just bite the bullet and go somewhere else’s. Wait for the building to get bought out in the next five years.

MAKE SURE YOU CANCEL IN PERSON 30 DAYS BEFORE YOU WANT TO STOP! They won't take cancellations on the phone and they make you wait a full billing cycle before you can stop when you do go in person. They gym itself is nice and clean. Their policy on stopping membership is frustrating. Don't want others to experience this.

The training manager Kane is CRAAAZY pushy. If I say I’m not interested in training after the free training session I shouldn’t have to sit through 15 minuets of this guy trying to guilt trip me into it or trying to make me too scared of getting hurt to train on my own. Came really close to signing up with him then canceling over the phone the next day just to get him to leave me alone.

Super nice gym! I’ve tried out several Abilene gyms and this one is my favorite. Like all gyms, there’s peak times when it’s going to be busy so just expect that. But even when it’s busy (before 8am and after 5pm), they have enough space and equipment for everyone. Love the classes they offer here! Jason is one of my favorite instructors but you can’t go wrong with any! I love that they offer personal training, sauna, massage chairs, tanning, and more. Even childcare for up to 2 hours while the Kids crunch room is open! Which they have great hours i think it’s 8am-1pm then 4pm-8pm weekdays, and then they are also open weekends too. The Kids crunch staff are highly qualified, very friendly, and care about getting to know the kids. They encourage playing over technology usage, which is important to me. I have saved money going here to tan instead of a tanning salon! They offer free 7 day trials often, so check this gym out! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!

Tyrik, Abby, Chris, T and Taty are really good and professional. Everyone of their trainers are professional and help when they can. As a culture this gym is excellent I actually look forward to going from the staff to the customers. It is truly a no judgement zone and they do help you to get to your goals! Great work

I just started going to the gym this year amd chose Crunch because its close to my house however I feel a second location would be great due to over crowding at peak times. I'm not sure how people get an adequate workout unless they stay for hours & hours. Also there are several treadmills that are down. Whether the cardio machines are down or weight machines it just seems like it takes a long time to get them repaired. The price is great for what they offer tho.

My trainer was great once we got connected and got to start working out together but once I completed my contract and started to go to week to week and decided that I was going to stop training and signed the paperwork to stop training payment out of my bank account the problem started they ignored said paperwork and charged me multiple times for training at 200. $ a time .they payed us back once but then turned around and charged us a another fee !!!Owing us 200 $ Leaving us to wait for 8 -10 days to be paid back when it obviously didn’t take 8-10 days to retrieve the money !!! I’m sorry but this is rediculous!!

Terrible manners from a trainer. My girlfriend went over to this trainer and in the most disrespectful way he told her no he was busy,but he had his computer screen off and was just standing there talking to someone when she walked up. All she asked for was if he could come over when he had time to give tips on an exercise. Which is terrible because the gym is nice but the mannerism you use with your customers is seriously important. Especially if you are suppose to be a trainer.

They definitely need a second location. Every weeknight this gym is overpacked. It’s getting to the point where I just might leave and go to planet fitness. I’m not sure if they allow a bring your friend for free deal, but yeah they should stop that. Also the cleanliness of the men’s locker room is what you would expect out of a boys frat house. It smells like old baby diapers in there every time I walk in.

It's an ok gym but most of the time all the machines I want to use are taken, they have a bunch of random bike machines that never get used that should be replaced with machines that are more in demand. Not that it's the gyms fault but it's always packed. Not a terrible gym I just don't really care for it.

Okay place to work out. Have a billing issue that neither place have resolved. They have issues getting my account to work. I'm getting billed in Abilene, tx and Georgia. I will be out $930 when the year ends. But will not be renewing my contract $70 a month seems a little too much just for the Abilene location. They just tell me that they can't fix it.

I want to file a complaint with Crunch Corporate because my concerns are being ignored at the store level. I have spoken to GM and she said she would resolve my issues but that has not been handled appropriately or professionally. We have a problem at this location with PT sessions being stolen by store leadership. GM promised to fix it but they still don’t show usable on my account. She put them back on my account but they show not paid for. I’ve left another message for the GM last week and still have not received a return call. I am not the only customer here that this has happened to. It’s impossible to get a corporate phone number.

Of the three gyms I have been a member of, I have enjoyed CRUNCH the best. The amount of weight machines and free weights allows for an ample workout regimen. They also have a good variety of fitness classes available as well.

I’ve been a loyal member at Crunch for a while now, coming in consistently 4 to 5 days a week. I come here to work on my health and fitness, not to feel like I’m walking into a place that hasn’t been cleaned in weeks.

Let’s start with the mirrors—they’re filthy. Smudged, streaky, and clearly neglected. It’s been like this for weeks, and it’s not just an off day. There’s dirt and dust caked up underneath the dumbbell racks, like it hasn’t been touched in ages. The carpet throughout the gym looks and smells grimy. Machines are greasy, dusty, and some look like they haven’t seen a wipe-down since opening day.

The tanning rooms? Absolutely unacceptable. Stains, dust, and an overall feeling of “when was this last cleaned?” It’s gross, plain and simple.

What’s more frustrating is the lack of staff presence when it comes to cleanliness. There are a couple of hardworking employees who do their best to keep things in order, but where is everyone else? What are they doing? It seems like there’s no accountability or direction from whoever is managing this place.

This gym has the potential to be a solid, affordable place for people to work out. But it doesn’t matter how nice the equipment is if the environment is dirty and neglected. Cleanliness is basic. It’s the bare minimum. And this location is falling way short.

Crunch—you need to step it up. Get some leadership in here that actually walks the floor and holds people accountable. Your members deserve better.

Not Impressed. This place is absolutely GROSS! The air isn’t on. It stinks. The bathrooms and saunas are NASTY all of the time!! It’s ridiculous how gross and muggy this gym is. The sad part is the managers in the gym are capped from what they can Do and Corporate won’t make changes to improve the cleanliness of this gym. They won’t even update the equipment or repair in timely manner.

IF CORPORATE actually permanently fixes the lack of cleanliness in this gym it would be greatly appreciated if they could get a hip thrusting machine in there and actually cater to those who are serious about building their booty and bodies. This gym is a NASTY JOKE! CLEAN IT ALREADY! Hire a cleaning staff if the gym staff can’t do it!!

When in to get membership also signed up for PT, was assigned to Koa, shortly after signing up for it i wasn't ready financially to do PT NC of thr christmas holidays, I was told by Koa to call him and cancel at anytime, so I did. He said he was out of town and that he would take care of it when he got back. 2 weeks later I called him again to make sure that it was canceled and he replied that he wasn't even at crunch anymore as and employee or trainer, totally left in the dark there, was charged for the.service anyways, which I needed up talking to Ervin one of the PT managers he said that he would take car of the situation after I told him what all that had went down. I informed him that I just wanted to cancel everything bc I was not happy with how things were going he assured me that he would take care of it. 1 month later I'm getting charged for the.servuce and membership again, mind you I have not been to the facility 1 day since initially signing up, and since this whole crap shoot started. My account has been racking up nsf fees bc of it, calling today to get this thing resolved I talk to Jason there another manager and he said no they should have told you to come in and sign some things to cancel, again I was mislead prior about my cancelation which I've acquired more fees bc of it...SMH corporate needs to tell their staff to give the right information to members in situations like this bc it's unprofessional, thanks to Jason there i believe I will be able to get this situation finally resolved... not happy at all with the way I was treated here at crunch fitness at abiliene..

Don't waste your time obtaining a membership with Crunch fitness. Customer support and service is atrocious. When it's time to cancel a membership they will make it damn near impossible. They have no problem with me setting up and paying for a membership for my wife. 6 months later when she decided she no longer wants it, I have no power to cancel the membership for her. They will not provide the form for her to sign because they need an in person electronic signature. However, she can mail a signature to cancel. How does this make any sense. A money grab is what it is. It's ridiculous. And when asked to speak to a manager I'm told, T, behind the counter, the person im speaking to, is acting manager. Oh really? Just ridiculous. Spend a little more money and go to a gym that actually cares about customers and their satisfaction.

Great place to come at nights between midnight and 4am, hardly anyone there so there is no waiting to use equipment and if you are a bit shy or have social anxiety, then it's nice seeing very little people around at that time allowing people who are nervous or undecided about joining and coming to workout, be at peace during this time of night. Called back, and she explains that she is busy, and hung up again!! Whatever happened to getting someone's number and calling them back? It's called Customer Service,, which they obviously don't have it.They must have alot of memberships they do not care to sign new members up! I’ve started going here instead of the local planet fitness and it’s great. There’s a lot of different equipment that’s taking time to get used to, but that’s any new gym. Staff is friendly and establishment is clean. Can’t quite remember the guys name, but he was taller, anyways he was awesome at helping me get the guest pass set up and walking me through everything. I am disappointed with the state of the gym and hope for improvements. Many machines have been out of order for weeks, creating an inconvenience for members. Additionally, the ropes are frayed, and weights are left on the floor, posing a potential tripping hazard. The lack of paper towels in the men's bathroom and GYM room is also a concern. Instructors do not wipe the equipment when moving from one machine to another when with their clients, but Crunch wants us to wipe down the machines.Furthermore, the sauna room seats are in disrepair and need to be replaced and properly cleaned. It is unacceptable for members to pay dues and not have these issues addressed. If these issues are not resolved, I will be looking for a new gym and I am not alone in this decision.
The gym According to Noel the manager " Its the Wild West" The gym is filty they do not sweep daily the bathrooms are not cared for with trash and urinals with yellow piss all over it. The sauna is missing wooden planks with them looking like mold from the sweat sitting on the planks and not being pressured washed. equipment is always broken and they take months to fix the problem. People vaping and hoarse playing and Manager Noel said "did any one get hurt" when I confronted him about teens running around with a water gun squirrting his friends. The woman's restroom According to my wife is nasty feces on the stalls and toilets electric dryer hanging off the wall with the cords exposed. I asked for corporate but was said it's a franchise and manager handles all complaints.

I visited the Abilene location with someone who has a membership and upon entering, they were told their membership didn’t allow visitors . The clerk (mark) , was filled with short and rude remarks such as , cancel your membership or leave.(only the person with the member ship can work out) Those were the only options mark had given us. As the person with the membership continued to seek answers , MARK never one time offered me (the guest) the opportunity to sign up for a free trial. It was as if Mark had a prejudice against us and didn’t want us to be there in the first place. Mark ends up not solving the problem but escalating it by calling the police and giving a false statement about the entire situation. I have never been treated like such an out cast in my entire life and i just wouldn’t expect such a well named establishment to have such terrible de-escalation skills and customer service standard. I would never in my life want anyone to experience the attitude or lack of empathy and problem solving skills the way mark treated me and someone who pays with their hard earned money a membership. I was treated with no care ,lack of thought at all as Mark berated the person with the membership with rhetorics of ,” you can work out but she can’t. You can cancel your membership or leave.” I didn’t feel valued at all and I wasn’t even the one with the member ship. What a way to gain clientele .
I was embarrassed and humiliated all because of what felt like , incompetence on Marks end due to prejudice judgment .

I paid for a month in March and had high hopes after being out for a couple years. I never went back after tanning twice. The tanning rooms were filthy and MULTIPLE bulbs out in both beds I went in. The inside of the beds were filthy too with lint and hair and grime. On top of that, I scheduled the training session they told me was "free" as a perk to signing up but I was charged $10 and then they hounded me and hounded me by calling and texting repeatedly. After one trainer called me close to 9 PM on a weeknight, I let him have my opinion. He followed it up with a text (I guess he thought that was better) but I never responded. This place is a crowded mess, filthy, and I will never be back. The childcare workers looked dazed and I would never leave my child in there.

Karen alert: Not a bad place, but was told one thing at sign up and then charged differently regarding the annual fees after canceling. The frustrating part is that I communicated on the front end that this was only temporary, and they assured me that no annual fee would apply if I canceled prior to May 5th. Nope. They charged me anyway. Out $100. Not cool, Crunch Fitness. At all.

REPLY: It is correct, Crunch Fitness. It was communicated to me that I would not be charged, and then I was charged. That is factual. I would suggest two things, a)train your people better to understand your processes and procedures, b) read "Customers for Life," by Carl Sewell. Based on my experience (as well as other feedback in the reviews), it would be helpful to yall!

I’ve been going to Crunch in Abilene since shortly after their location opened. It has progressively gotten worse. This is the first review I’ve ever left anyone but, the issues I’ll address warrant writing one. Here are some of the reasons I’m giving a 1 star rating:

•The floor is getting dirtier as I write this review. Trash, lint, dirt, and hair everywhere…
•Machine maintenance is not done in a timely manner. There has been a sign on several machines for weeks, dumbbells are missing from the racks, ab/yoga mats are all torn, etc.
•The tanning beds are missing ridiculous amounts of bulbs. In one of the stand up beds I counted 12 bulbs that were out. This is after letting them know the prior week that there were 9 out in hopes they would handle it. Not trying to tan like a rotisserie chicken in order to get an even color.
•The crowd is getting sketchy. People walking around smelling like they literally just got through hotboxing weed in their car right before walking in the gym and other people walking around vaping during workouts. This is a gym I’m talking about. If you want to rock down to electric avenue, leave the gym out of it.
•Not enough machines for the volume of people. There needs to be at LEAST one more of the pec deck/rear delt, smith machine, leg extension, and ham curl machines. These machines have the highest use by the majority of gym-goers from novice to advanced. You may never even get to use these machines if you go at a reasonable hour during the day. There also needs to be an adjustable decline dumbbell bench and more ab/oblique machines. There is currently only one machine for abs. Everything else must be improvised.

I believe this is a management and policy issue for the most part. Management should notice and handle issues by their own experience or by talking with customers. Treat the place like you’re providing a service not herding cattle. Expand or open a new location.

Nice amenities. Option for trainer. Lots of equipment. Good air circulation. Great pricing. Friendly staff! Childcare was minimum though. Which at least they offer it, but I would like for my son to be to play and what little toys they did have were geared toward 2 and under.

Moved from Abilene a year ago and let my membership continue. When I called to cancel they wanted me to either drive 4 hours to cancel IN PERSON or MAIL a handwritten letter. They won’t cancel on the phone or via email. This is 2024 and they want snail mail correspondence. Poor ownership and management. The corporate 800 number isn’t monitored either so not like I can get support from Crunch corporate. Really disappointing experience.

My husband has been having issues with his membership since February! He signed up for the Abilene location but for some reason he is signed up for sugarland location. Sugarland location will not help him. I called the manager today, at the Abilene location, explained everything to him. He said he would help transfer the membership to the Abilene location and credit his account for what we already paid. Just today a 49 payment came out for crunch fitness but his account show expired. The manager said it would take him a few days to move his account over but he could still workout and would leave a note in the system so there is no problems. My husband just went to work out and jay, the front desk associate, said he couldn’t work out unless he paid a day pass. I wish I could leave no stars. We will be requesting our money back.

Do not bring your kids here especially if they are on the spectrum. I have a nonverbal child that did great here the first two years. Now for some reason I’m getting called every time I bring him in bc the workers would rather sit on their butts rather than interact with the kids. My oldest even complained that all they do is make them sit in chairs and watch the TV. It’s sad. I cancelled my membership today after years of being here.

Been going here for 3+ years, and I have yet to have a complaint! They have everything I'd look for in a gym, and then some. Tons of free weights, Machines (2 or more of each kind), Cardio Equipment, and even a HIIT area.

All this to mention the great, and helpful staff at this location. Whether it be a quick question, or just the friendly greeting everytime people come in.

This friendly and helpful staff came in clutch today when I had a question with billing. Without hesitation, Nolan stopped to help me out. Within minutes he gave great attention to assist and advise me. I could not have asked for more.

Nobody knows anything. When calling to ask to talk to manager it's always an excuse, really seems like he is ducking me. I've canceled my membership and yet they still pull money and now somehow I have 2 active matching accounts so I got charged double for a gym I have yet to step foot in. When asking for refund of my money everyone starts to stutter like they don't know what I mean.

I’ve been going to crunch for a few years now, and recently I’ve noticed such a change in the atmosphere in the last couple months that has made me truly enjoy being there again. I usually go morning or afternoon and the staff are pleasant to talk to and so sweet and accommodating. I can personally tell the new manager cares about his job as more than just a job. I love the people, everyone is generally pretty friendly! Evenings are definitely crowded, but it’s to be expected with everything crunch offers for its members (childcare, group fitness, tanning, hydro-massage, etc.). I truly love my gym!

I have been a member at crunch for a few months now. Attending the gym daily in the morning. The staff is always smiling and the kids crunch is a great calm and controlled environment. Today was the first day I decided to book a class for the evening. When I walked in no one was smiling no one said hello and the front desk person was stuck on her phone and couldn’t tell me if I checked in successfully or not. I then proceeded to check in my sons at kid crunch. I wasn’t worried until my oldest son messaged me and said that other kids were touching him inappropriately and how they were cussing and being really rude to him. I went to check on my sons and there was kids running around wildly and throwing balls at the walls and screaming. While the two workers did nothing and were just sitting at the computer. Keep in mind that there are infants in the kids crunch as well.
I have never had a bad experience until today. Like I said in the beginning. I always go in the morning. But I will never go again at night. The staff is just very different and the whole gym environment is negative.

Whatever you do dont do business with these people. I cancelled in Dec 2023 and have a cancellation letter and receipt that was approved by the employee and the manager and stated that I had no unpaid balances . They have apparently have still been charging me unsuccessfully . The new manager (who was like talking to a brick wall) said that my cancellation letter wasnt valid because it wasnt properly authorized so they will keep charging until I pay up..

Crunch has a vibe to it. It is similar to Plane Fitness but definitely not the same. Unfortunately, it gets really packed making it very difficult to hit everything in a circuit within a continuous fashion and not even in the order u want. Just to complete the circuit, I had to wait 10 minutes on 1 machine then over 10 minutes to hit the final machine. All because people play on their phone for forever between sets and don't pay attention. As u know, resting within that time frame your not getting the workout u desire. Other gyms are not as bad but they aren't as popular either. If u like being around beautiful people and don't care about the wait then this is the place. If u just want a quick workout then definitely avoid anything resembling peak hours or just hit another place that is not as popular. Overall, I like it. My advice is just to avoid peak hours and you will probably love this place.

Love it here I'm here every morning at 4am plenty of machines available to use I do however get ready at the gym everyday using showers and all but they really don't clean them on a regular basis and I know based on the Bandaid that has been sitting in the same spot for a week now!!!!! but I bring my own shower shoes to be safe but would like to see the bathrooms a little more up to par!!!

So I have had such a great experience here so far...my husband has been deployed the last few months...and this gym has pulled through every time...when I need I go to the gym to release some stress or just to feel good...ik I can count on kids crunch to be a reliable childcare while I try to stay fit and healthy...shout-out to my old trainer Sean... although I had to quit seeing him bc my schedule was and still is very demanding, he was such a great guy. He never made you feel like you were less...he also didn't treat you like a number...he treated you like a friend....he also educated me on the human body and how it functions...which was why I was there in the first place...super informative...the guy knows his stuff...so if you're looking for a trainer that will really take the time...look for Sean....Also I only met Elliott once but he manages the trainers. When I needed him to stop the trainer he was on top of it! He was also very friendly. Thank you all so much! You guys are amazing 💗

I recently did a week trial and loved the facility! However, part of us signing up would also include bringing our kids to be in childcare, so they tested it too. They’re no strangers to gym childcare and yet they hated it and begged not to go back. They’ve never had a bad reaction to gym childcare before.

They said the girl working the room was nice to the parents but really nasty when parents weren’t around. They said she didn’t engage with any of the kids except only to tell some rowdy kids to be silent and forced them to stay seated the entire time. When I came to pick up my kids she was chatting by with two of her friends about up coming plans and not watching the kids at all.

I’d heard things about the childcare but decided we’d test it in hopes it would work for us. Sadly, I can’t join because I need to know my kids are in a friendly and safe environment when I leave them.

I moved out of my city where I started my membership. When you go to cancel the Gym membership you have to write a hand written note to cancel or drive 180 miles back into the home location to cancel. We all know why these hard to cancel policies are in place. This is the modern business era you shouldn't be holding customers debit cards and money hostage. I am a business owner too and people can cancel a whole real estate contract over the phone and with a digital signature. Figure it out CRUNCH

Terrible service, if I could, I would give it 0 stars, I pay daycare all week and the only day I use it I can't use it, my son is almost 12 and if I leave him on the couch with a tablet, they tell me that he can't be there because she could be playing, of course, they discriminate against me just because I'm brown, there were 2 other white girls and they didn't even say anything to their mother.

My husband has tried multiple times to start a membership here but everyone always tells him there needs to be a manager on duty for them to sign him up. We have tried to set up a membership online but the website doesn't work.

Majority of the equipment doesn't work and I can never get to the machine that I need to because its always overcrowded.

There’s never an employee in the mornings so don’t expect anything to be stocked. Like paper towels to clean the machines after.

RUN!! I tried to cancel my membership multiple times after doing a trial month. Nobody ever got back to me. They racked up charges for months and then sent me a threatening email that I needed to pay over 400 or they would send it to collections. They’re crooks and I wish I never signed up for a trial with them! Do not do this. Like I said RUN!
