The two girls working at Crunch tonight around 9:30 p.m., Julie and the other girl with black hair, were extremely rude. The girl with black hair, in particular, is consistently unprofessional and has a very poor attitude. She has made me and several others I know feel uncomfortable on multiple occasions. Because of this repeated behavior, I feel uncomfortable returning to this location. 1 star — very disappointing experience and a clear lack of management oversight.

I’ve been trying for weeks to transfer my Crunch membership and have my agreement rewritten so I can use my Active & Fit account. Unfortunately, neither the transfer nor the rewrite has ever been completed every time I visit or call, I get another excuse or I’m told to wait for someone else who “might” know how to help.
This has become a serious issue for me and my wife, who is pregnant. It’s essential for me to bring her to the gym, and after a 30-minute drive tonight, we were denied entry by Julie because of a “past due” balance even though that balance exists only because no one at Crunch seems to know how to process an Active & Fit or transfer.
As a former Crunch employee, I fully understand the policies and what options she could have offered, such as following up on the transfer or helping set up a new account with Active & Fit while waiting for San Pedro to fix their membership transfer. Instead, we were met with no effort to help, just a simple “you can’t enter unless you pay.”
I’m deeply disappointed by the lack of leadership and training at this location. This is not how Crunch should treat loyal members especially those already paying through a valid partner program like Active & Fit. The situation tonight was unacceptable and reflects poorly on Crunch’s management and customer service standards.
No excuses are acceptable this is a leadership failure, not a policy issue.

STAY AWAY!!! Predatory company! I tried them out when they first opened, with their promise of "60 day no contract" obligation, and they weren't for me. Too crowded, didn't have HIIT cardio equipment, and a few other issues so I left. CANCELLED IN PERSON. Thought all was good, and didn't catch it for a few months that they were still charging me. I have now been, for over a year now, IN PERSON, OVER THE PHONE, EMAIL, AND EVEN PUT STOP PAYMENTS WITH MY CREDIT CARD THEY HAVE ON FILE TO QUIT CHARGING ME! Yet they continuosly try to charge my card over and over, month after month. They're like a psychotic ex that won't leave well enough alone. About to get a damn lawyer involved for harassment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review – Outstanding Service from Ashley Smallwood at Crunch Fitness
I had an incredible first experience at Crunch Fitness, thanks entirely to Ashley Smallwood. From the moment I walked in, Ashley made me feel genuinely welcomed — even though she was the only staff member on-site and clearly handling a lot on her own.
Despite being extremely busy, she still took the time to walk me through everything Crunch has to offer, answering my questions thoroughly and making sure I got a full understanding of the facility, programs, and culture. Although she couldn't initially leave the front desk to give me a physical tour, she explained everything in detail and kept the experience personal and engaging.
Just before we wrapped up, another employee arrived — and without hesitation, Ashley took the opportunity to give me a proper tour of the site. That extra effort made all the difference.
As someone with a background in management and sales, I can confidently say that Crunch is very lucky to have Ashley. Her professionalism, initiative, and dedication to creating a welcoming environment truly stood out. She didn’t just provide customer service — she delivered an exceptional brand experience.
Thank you, Ashley, for going above and beyond!

What a joke of a gym. The staff will never take accountability for their mistakes, the management sucks, and the facility is filthy and gross. Canceling my membership and going back to GOLDS! I tried to give crunch fitness a shot, but you can tell it’s ran by a bunch of inexperienced wanna be “fitness professionals”. Honestly I would recommend somewhere like Planet Fitness over Crunch any day. I wouldn’t even waste your $ here. Scam of a buisness

Abby at the San Marcos, Tx Crunch Location is a poor example of a “manager”, and gives crunch fitness a bad name, and is a poor selection for the face representing the company. During my interaction with Abby she mocked me in a childish and immature tone, constantly interrupted me; as well as talked over me, and best of all hung up on me mid call as I was calling to resolve a billing issue. Such a shame to see a well respected company hire someone with such
unprofessionalism and immaturity. I believe it would be wise to look into your staff and how they treat their customers. I believe Abby should be held accountable for her poor problem solving strategies, astonishing behavior, and unprofessional performance as a “Manager”. After this interaction I can’t say that I would recommend this gym to anyone!!!

Today I had the pleasure of having Conley R Miller as my fitness trainer. This guy knows his stuff! From proper technique, nutrition with different body types, along with simple everyday habits that will ensure my success and achieve my goals that I have ahead of myself. Conley has a knack for PT that blew my mind and has me looking forward to being in the best shape my body will allow. I could go on and on about Conley, but if you’re looking to get in shape this is your guy! Looking forward to the next training session!

I pay for a membership for my daughter She moved out of state. Before she left, she went in person to cancel. They told her a manager wasn’t there and they couldn’t help her. They told her to go online and cancel. Their app was having problems and she still couldn’t cancel. Now when we call the gym, they tell us we have to go through the app to cancel. We tried to use the app and all it did was extend her membership. This is a month to month commitment we have been trying to cancel since the end of June. I’ll be escalating this to the attorney general for false advertising.

Really disappointing experience at Crunch San Marcos. It was my first time bringing my friend to the gym, trying to put him on the workout, and the trainer completely blew the momentum and morale. I tried to be polite and ask this trainer how many more sets she had on the only rolling bench in the entire gym, even phrasing it carefully so I wouldn’t interrupt her session with her clients. Instead of a simple response, she just looked at me, made a face, and ignored me. I didn’t do anything wrong, and being treated like that felt completely disrespectful.
What made it worse is that right after ignoring me, she actually wiped the bench down, which made me think she was done — so I waited. But then instead of using it for her workout, she just hogged it the rest of the time and used it as a foot rest. I ended up having to give up the incline smith machine I had already waited on, and by that point the energy was gone. My friend and I just left early. Definitely not what I expected from a place that’s supposed to be welcoming.
Yes, I used AI to type out the part above because I would’ve worded it more harsh and ruder just like how she was rude to me and it wouldn’t have been taken serious. Yes that trainer is still a joke in a weirdo

I've been a member since December, and over the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a wave of new faces—managers, team members, and PT staff. I just wanted to take a moment to say how impressed I am. Everyone I've met has been incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. Their positive energy has genuinely transformed the atmosphere of the gym.
I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt it was important to let these employees know that their hard work and great attitude are being noticed and appreciated. The momentum and vibe in the gym have improved significantly, and it's thanks to this fantastic team.
Keep up the amazing work!

The gym had really gone down hill in the past few months. The locker rooms were filthy, the R&R areas were not kept clean, the paper towel machines were always out, spray bottles were empty & the staff acted like it was a bother to help you. But in the past week there has been a major shift. The locker rooms are clean. The R&R is being wiped down after each guest. The staff is friendly & helpful. There is a couple new faces at the desk & it feels like the whole momentum of the gym has shifted for the better. I enjoy working out here again!

I have been a member since Crunch San Marcos opened last year. I’ve enjoyed the classes, the staff, and the overall vibe. Recently I made the leap into trying personal training, and I could not be more grateful! I see Coach Laney once a week, and it has changed EVERYTHING for me!
Early last year I suffered a significant knee injury that had me unable to bear any weight on my right leg for a couple weeks, and needed a knee brace for months afterwards. My knee was slowly healing, but I was unsteady, unstable, and constantly worried about hurting myself again. I knew that I needed help in strengthening up not just my knee, but all of my weak areas, as well as correcting the imbalances that came as a result of overcompensating for a past injury. As an obese 51-year-old woman, I had my reservations about what I could actually do, and if there was someone who would understand my specific needs.
Gratefully, Coach Laney was exactly the right fit for me! Not only does Laney have a sweet nature, she is funny, energetic, encouraging, and has a way of honing right in on what needs to be addressed. Coach Laney’s vast experience as a trainer, combined with her deep knowledge of body mechanics and ability to make the complex simple, has given me back my mobility, my confidence, and my life. I have a long way to go in my health journey, but I have no doubt that I am in the best to help me reach my goals!
Yes, personal training is expensive, and I spent a good amount of time saving up to try it in the first place. However, what I’ve saved as a result of training with Coach Laney cannot be ignored: I regained full range of motion in my right knee, something I could not make happen on my own. And despite slipping on some stairs last week, my knee was solid, no re-injury!! Being able to move freely again has impacted every area of my life, and it’s because of my time with Coach Laney.

I absolutely loved Crunches classes with the hot yoga, R&R, and Fierce hot yoga. I never felt judged by anyone or any of the staff. The only two complaints that I have is that I recently moved and they don't have a Crunch Gym near me, and I am finding it extremely difficult to cancel my membership. On their app is nothing that provides any help or link to cancel it. Online reviews say that it is basically impossible to cancel. I'm still trying to figure out the whole process. Highly recommend the gym, but they just need more locations, and an easier way to cancel memberships.

The gym has some good equipment and I like that it has a sauna and other features that are good. However, the gym is ALWAYS packed! I feel as though I spend more time standing around waiting to use equipment than I do actually working out. And even using mats, I still feel it is too crowded and there is no room to comfortably do routines. The other issue is that I canceled my membership within the first 60 days due to a convenience issue as the gym is too far to drive to for me and not only did they still make me pay the monthly fee, but they are also still charging me the annual fee as well for a total of $87. I feel that is a huge inconvenience, especially when I’m trying to limit the inconveniences I already have going to this gym. They also seem to have some communication issues that I have witnessed amongst the staff on behalf of my friend who also cancelled her membership. She signed up for one of their programs for a chance to win prizes and paid the fee of $99. They never emailed her the times or dates to show up for weigh ins, gave her the wrong times to do the weigh ins, and when she showed up to do it, they told her that she passed the deadline to weigh in and initially did not want to refund her for their mistakes. And after agreeing to process her refund, it was still a hassle for her to get the refund because they kept saying it processed however it was not actually refunded and took almost two weeks and several times checking in with different managers and staff members before finally receiving it. It was nice to try out but I don’t think I would ever sign back up with this gym.

This place is so over crowded all of the time I don’t remember what a dumbbell feels like. They have to many members and not enough room or parking. My wife and I literally can not go during the week. We have to plan special trips when all the kids are either in school which isn’t really anything or in the middle of the day on a weekend. god forbid you go when the daycare is open, good luck with anything at that point. I think I’ll go back to THRC, they charge way more and canceled me on accident but at least I can actually workout when I want/ can unlike crunch where there is a line to even just use the bathroom or even find a parking spot that won’t get you a ticket when all you are trying to do is improve your life.

The gym has a variety of equipment and every time I go it’s packed. Which doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is when I park in an area that does not have NO PARKING signs and I come out and have a $100 saying I was parked in lane of traffic. I was parked next to the curb facing the correct way with traffic just like you would in your own neighborhood.

New. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Somewhat minor observations: 1) sauna was closed for almost 2 hours one Saturday for cleaning during peak hours. The sauna is VERY small compared to other locations. It definitely should not take 2 hours to clean; if it does, peak hours would certainly not be the best time to do that. I’m not sure why it took 2 hours to clean. 2) The cleaning person sprayed cleaner on the inside of the sauna door while we were sitting inside.
Minor observations. Very clean. Will definitely return. Truckers can drop at the TA New Braunfels and bobtail. There is a Target, Academy, Club Pilates and lots of great shopping & restaurants in the area as a whole. I would NOT recommend bobtail overnight parking here. I believe the location is 24/7 but, double check.

The location and amenities are perfect but the facility is very dirty and has a strange odor. It is always packed with students and you can almost always guarantee that you will have to wait for a machine. I decided to cancel my membership on the 6th of January, the day I was charged for the next month (expecting I would not be charged again). On February 10th, I was charged the base fee and a late fee amounting to $27 (I still am not sure why it was late with funds in my account). Nonetheless, I spoke with the manager to resolve this issue but they were not eager to help. I was informed of the 30 day cancellation policy. The charge for February was far after the 30 days was over but they still refused to refund my last month. If you’re looking for a professionally run gym and local business I recommend THRC right down the road. I will NEVER join a corporate gym again. They will take your money and not think twice. Disappointing.

Nothing wrong with this specific Crunch Fitness. Employees are all nice people but Crunch policies need to change. I had a membership and changed it to a lower level membership a couple months later and was charged $32 for that change. Fair enough but I was charged another annual fee $51.44 on top of that. Pretty outrageous if you ask me.
Spoke with management and the annual fee for each plan change is accurate.

Although the gym has great equipment the crowd who stand around to look in the mirror are a waste of space! Also why do the clean the sauna in the middle of the day when people are trying to use it? It’s a 24/7 gym do it during non peak hours. Today was the third time that they are cleaning it mid morning while people are waiting to use it this gym since opening has had poor management in my opinion.

⭐ 1/5 - Misleading Membership Information and Poor Communication
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Crunch Fitness due to their inconsistent policies and misleading sales practices. During both my initial sales call and a subsequent personal training session, I was explicitly assured that my 10-year-old son could use the gym equipment as long as he remained under my supervision. This was a key factor in my decision to purchase a membership.
The reality proved to be completely different. When I brought my son to work out with me for the first time - something he was genuinely excited about - we were turned away and told he was too young to be on the gym floor. Instead, we were directed to "Kids Crunch," a childcare area primarily designed for toddlers and young children. As my son pointed out, he would be one of the oldest children there, making it an inappropriate space for a 10-year-old who was interested in actual fitness training.
What makes this situation particularly frustrating is that I have witnessed multiple instances of children who appeared younger than my son using the equipment with their adult supervisors. This inconsistent enforcement of policies only adds to the frustration of being misled during the sales process.
Major Issues:
- False information provided during sales calls
- Contradictory information from personal trainer
- Inconsistent enforcement of age policies
- Inappropriate alternative solutions (Kids Crunch being unsuitable for older children)
- Lack of clear communication about actual policies
I cannot recommend Crunch Fitness to families looking to exercise together. The company needs to:
1. Provide accurate information during sales calls
2. Train their staff to consistently communicate and enforce policies
3. Create appropriate programs for older children who are interested in fitness
4. Be transparent about age restrictions before selling memberships
If you're a parent looking to exercise with your children, I strongly suggest finding a more family-friendly gym that is honest about their policies and actually delivers on their promises.

I came in with a lot of questions. Luis at the front desk helped me. He was extremely nice and patient and answered all my questions. Shout out to him. Just went for the first day today and it was awesome. The app also tells you how busy it is so you don’t have to worry like Gold’s gym always being busy and understaffed. Awesome gym!!!!

I've been going since they opened at the end of July. Staff is always friendly & keep to themselves, always busy, making sure everything is clean and spray bottles full. I've gone at peak times and never had an issue parking, just had to walk some. 5 months going 4 times/week and I have no complaints.
Thanks San Marcos Crunch! You guys are awesome!

Worse than planet fitness when it comes to canceling. We moved and were intending on transitioning to the killeen location, but decided to cancel. San Marcos was my "home gym" according to the app and Killeen. Then San Marcos called and stated my home gym is killeen. A lot of back and forth and no one wants to cancel a membership that isn't being used. Then to actually email about a past due balance and payment declining. No shit. I'm not paying for something I'm not using and that yall won't let me cancel.

They will “mommy you” or treat you like a child.
I am aware I signed documents stating I am an adult and responsible for my own actions health and safety. This gym is only for 18+
Asking is appreciated but demanding is disrespectful.
I have been going to the gym for several months and I have been singled out by one woman at the desk. I request to speak with a supervisor. And Luis spoke with me. He is aware not all the employees require their patrons to show glassware for tanning. I have only had ONE employee make a demand of me over several months.
Because I am a mother of two with a large diaper bag, I did ask to use the office to remove items out of my bag to comply with Luis’s demands. But he stated that I could not.
I would think they would care about keeping ther patrons.
If you don’t wish to be singled out or treated like a child. I would not use this gym.

Cons;
*12 months contract.
* 2 months penalty if cancel early plus enroll and annual pay
*Biometric recognition eyes and face
* certified letter to cancel/ cancel at location
*late payment charge and penalty. Debt is sent to collection agency if not settled.
Poor overall reviews and ratings. Most complaints are about over charged accounts and cancelation issues.
*IDK why they require 2 forms of payment.
* squat rack weights are bulky cheap
*decline and incline bench hooks are unsafe. You can hit em in the way up and hurt yourself.
Pros:
Brand new facility and equipments
Tony Hartl founder dba undefeated tribe LLC
*Dumbells and benches are v-good
*Staffs are great and Personal trainers are available
PS: updated to 4 stars 10/31/24
Why not 5? Cheap Iso machines and benches. If you spend millions why not equip it with top brands.
12/2/24
DJ the mngr canceled my membership for using 8 lbs dumbell to warm up from the designated HIIT barricaded area. No one ever used those weights during and after HIIT. Paid em off for a year but haven't received my refund. Few of my friends are fed up and canceled membership too.

I live in Kyle waiting for the one here to open. This gym is new but it’s near the El Milagro factory which makes the whole area smell bad. It even smells bad in the gym I don’t know how anyone can work out there. I’d rather drive to the South Austin location to work out this is ridiculous.

Luis was very rude when I cancelled my membership. Also they make you pay 30 days past your cancellation. Very messed up. Do not get a membership here go to Planet Fitness where they don’t make you give notice like it’s an apartment lease. I’ve been a member of Crunch Fitness for a few months now, and I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed with what this gym has to offer. The facilities are top-notch, always clean and well-maintained. The variety of equipment available caters to all fitness levels, whether you’re into weightlifting, cardio, or functional training.
One of the standout features is the friendly and professional staff. From the trainers to the front desk personnel, everyone is welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to offer guidance or answer any questions.
Special shoutout to Coach Krystle, the group fitness instructor, and Rob, my personal trainer. Krystle’s classes are always fun and challenging, pushing me to my limits while keeping the energy high and motivation up. Rob has been instrumental in my personal training journey, guiding me with customized workouts and strategies that have led to great results. Their expertise and encouragement have made a significant impact on my fitness journey.
Additionally, a big thanks to Desiree for matching me with Rob. Her keen insight and understanding of what I needed in a trainer have been crucial in setting me on the right path.
Crunch Fitness also does a great job of fostering a sense of community. The gym never feels intimidating, and it’s easy to connect with fellow members. The overall vibe is positive and encouraging, making working out here a pleasure.
Whether you’re a fitness newbie or a seasoned gym-goer, Crunch Fitness has something to offer. Highly recommend!

Way too many technicalities for a gym membership. Definitely not commitment free. Will harass you til no end will charge u $30 to close your account. The gym it self would great if they weren’t money hungry. I’ve given written notice and was told they would stop payment. still receive calls every day. I was told I could downgrade if i didn’t use the other services then they tried to charge me $30 for that. And now they want me to go in person to cancel. That will be the first time I've ever been, to cancel. Try San Marcos Athletic Club..no bs. Stay away from Crunch, it's a scam. Calling the BBB...

I really wish I had never signed up for this gym. Just like all the other horror stories you've heard regarding contracts and hidden fees. I read everything carefully and they still managed to find a way to screw me out of my money. This was my first time signing up for a gym and frankly it served as proof for why I should never sign up for another. I apologize to any employees I talked to trying to deal with this. I tried to stay calm, but it's hard when greedy companies only want your money without caring about you at all. Not surprising to see other people having issues too. Also, canceling in person is outdated and stupid and gyms only do it to screw you out of money.

I attempted to cancel online before yearly charge, but it said a sales representative would contact me. They never did I went into the gym and asked to cancel and they still made me pay the fee even though I had attempted to cancel before hand. The establishment is nice but all the weightlifting equipment is cheap quality. The manager is condescending for no reason, you work at Crunch kid, get over yourself. This gym is no better than a Planet Fitness. I’ll stick with my Gold’s and American Fitness membership. If you live in SM I recommend giving SMAC the opportunity to gain you as a customer.

Early bird gets the worm! After joining, I went a few days at different times to test out the crowd...and realized I'M A 4AM WKOUT PERSON! (Still) Definitely gets crowded during week between 3pm-8pm. I like getting a workout in early so my day goes smoothly. I like the setup and variety of equipment. Just wish my fellow gym mates would remember to always wipe down equipment and be kind. Ask if you're not sure if something is being used. Just small favors. Thank you, CRUNCH, for being open 24 hours!

Way too crowded round the clock. The only time you'll get a decent workout in without having to do alternative exercises to the ones you've planned is very late at night or early in the morning. During peak hours you can't even park in the parking lot. Many choose to park in the fire lane, in the Specs or Cheddars parking lot, or in the actual street. It's not this facilities fault per say but something to keep in mind when signing up until the Kyle location is open. Aside from that the staff seems friendly, the equipment is brand new, and its worth the money if you can afford to go late at night or early in the morning when the gym isn't packed to the brim. Edit: The gym is packed round the clock and there isn't a not packed time to go. Just way to many memberships sold and not nearly a large enough facility.

Last week my debit card was hacked so it had to be closed. As soon as we got it I went on the app and made the monthly payment. We headed to the San Marcos location where the young Asst. General Manager Luis stopped us at the front and told us the payment was pending and to come back in a couple days because we cannot come in. I was shocked. I told him obviously we made a payment and he said yah but that does not matter. I got angry and walked off. My wife with the level head then tried to explain customer service to the young man and he just smiled at her. She finally told him that people can go elsewhere and he told her yah you should do that. If you live in the Kyle/ San Marcos area its worth the drive to Golds. They never treated us like we didn't matter. I managed fitness centers the biggest part of my adult life, I would never have one of my managers talk to members like that. Especially smiling while telling someone to go somewhere else.

Now, I really do love this place.
However, Kids Crunch did address that my 2 yr old (almost 3) daughter needs to learn how to share & learn to listen when she is told no. So we took a break where I tried to reach her things. We came back & I sensed a bit of dread that we were there. So I decided to make my work out only an hour. There was an incident where she did charge at a younger child & took his toy. In the process she hurt him. I witnessed it because it happened when I came to pick her up. I made her apologize, give back the toy & we left. Later that afternoon I got a call telling me she was suspended for a week.
I understand that she was aggressive. That is not okay. However, this is all normal behavior in a toddler?
I was not aware that this is let the kids play around with toys and watch TV while they're being supervised. I thought maybe the people watching them would be a bit more interactive? Maybe some activities?

I love the gym, however I don't recommend the daycare. The staff is always on their phones not tending to the kids as they should there is one in particular who is rude to the kids and parents and acts like she doesn't want to be there. Crunch is a great gym their daycare not so much. Anyhow, I did mention it to one of the managers nothing was done. I've seen a lot of people post about how horrible the childcare at Crunch is. Unfortunately, I did have to cancel my membership due to this.

The gym is very nice if you're able to go anytime before 4 pm. If you work normal hours and are unable to go during non-peak hours, good luck finding parking and good luck getting to actually use any equipment you want to use. But, I digress, should be expected by a gym with a $10/month membership option.
Raised my review to 4 stars because the staff is exceptionally friendly, and I do enjoy the gym when I'm actually able to get a workout in.

I am so glad this location finally opened. It took them awhile to finally open and finally get their certificate of occupancy. I had been going to the south Austin location. This one is much closer to my house. As I walked in I was greeted by the staff. One of the guys. was studying Exercise science was a wealth of knowledge as we spoke about diet and my exercise routine. I went up to the 2nd floor to use the exercise bike to get my cardio in. It took a little getting used to their layout of machines and free weights. Even working out when I did, I was able to get in, work out and get out without having to fight folks for machines like many do at some of the other big name gyms.
The staff here is amazing and very friendly. I am thankful to have a Crunch closer to my house and look forward to the Kyle location opening soon.
