If I could give zero stars, I would. The Crunch Fitness Sugar Land location near my house was suddenly closed, and instead of offering a fair solution, they pushed my membership to a location 15 miles further away. That’s completely unreasonable – I signed up for a nearby gym, not one that requires a half-hour drive each way.

When I went to cancel, thinking that would be the end of it, Crunch still forced me to pay the annual fee for next year. How is that even possible when the location I joined is gone? Their excuse? I should have canceled 30 days before the billing date. But here’s the catch: they only announced the closure 20 days before shutting down. So even if I wanted to cancel in time, it was literally impossible.

It’s a shady, money-grabbing policy that punishes customers for things completely out of their control. Instead of doing the right thing and waiving the fee, Crunch hides behind “policy” and squeezes out more money.

Do yourself a favor: avoid Crunch Fitness at all costs. They don’t care about customers, only about locking you into fees you can’t escape. Worst gym experience I’ve ever had.

Throughout my time here various pieces of equipment including women’s sauna and water station have been broken/out of service for up to multiple months without any visible attempts to repair them. Personal trainers basically harass you to pay for their services despite saying no multiple times. Lastly, we received 14 day notice that the gym will be closing down and membership will be automatically transferred to a different location almost 10 miles away. When I called to say I don’t want to transfer my membership they said it’s automatically decided by higher ups and that I will still get charged for first month at the new location because they need a 30 day notice, despite the fact that they only gave us a 14 day notice… additionally would not allow me to cancel my membership over the phone and said I have to come in person. Whole gym and company seems to be run and managed by scammers. Front desk and cleaning staff are cool though, they’re just following orders.

They will scam you, DO NOT COME HERE.
I went there for a daily pass and assistant manager offered me a deal where I put $1 down and pay for the monthly membership free of contract. Sounded great, until I was still getting charged. I had to email the manager about my situation, and telling them that their assistant manager would not put me in a contract, and i would not get charged the yearly fee. No response from them as they are about to close.

I will definitely be disputing that charge because thats outrageous!!

For the past 3 yrs. Or so, this gym was good to me. But unfortunately, due to the news of this location was closing. I had to cancel my membership. The staff was great, the location was the closest. But since it's location is closing. I had no choice. Wouldn't want to drive much much further to the next one. I give all my best to all the staff to where ever they may go.

Unfortuneately this is a regular occurance here, especially on the weekeneds. I thought maybe after 4 months of coming here something would change. Either the trash cans are overflowing, or completely out of wipes. I feel like cleanliness is a bare minimum when paying for a gym membership. The room inside the gym where classes are held is disgusting . The roof has a pile of dead flies , the flies fall all over the floor and one fell on my friends head in the middle of working out , a maggot was also on the floor crawling yesterday ! This gym and its management are excellent. I needed to transfer locations, and the process was handled quickly and smoothly by the management team. They were extremely helpful and made the experience stress-free. After seeing the reviews, I only wish I had read them sooner. This gym is the epitome of a scam!
The manager refuses to come to the phone and communicates through Nick who will only hang up on you.
The funny thing is I've been a member since May 2025 and never actually visited this gym in person but being scolded with unprofessionalism was insane!
I would absolutely recommend checking out other gyms before joining this month to month. Like others I was on the Peak plan but unable to make any changes via the app or etc.

I’ve been here for a year and attempted to cancel my membership and was met with unprofessional behavior from the manager (Man With Mustache) who laughed in my face during the conversation. This lack of respect and courtesy from management was disappointing and reflects poorly on the gym’s customer service. There are plenty of better gyms out there that treat people with basic respect. Manager needs to be FIRED!

Pulled up today to use my guest pass (last day it was valid) after coming in Wednesday with no problem. Soon as I walked in, staff member Angel (said he’s the manager) spoke to me in an unprofessional tone. Then he says I can’t use the pass because I came in back in 2022, even though I just used it two days ago. Made no sense.

signed up for a 7-day pass to try it out by the third day they said the pass was done with even after showing them the email with the date and time of receiving the pass .. the kept saying “the system says ..” like that’s our fault .. mind you it’s the same person who sat and watched us sign up for the 7 day pass our first day there! Completely frustrating instead of trying to find a common ground or solution when computer/technology can be wrong .. they rather lose customers but no worries a new location is opening and we will hopefully run into better equipment and BETTER MANAGEMENT! :)

I love this gym so much. It’s super clean and the Vibe is really nice. However, I am not sure tonight what it was, but the network connection sucked. None of my apps could get connected. It wasn’t my phone or my service because as soon as I was outside crunch everything worked perfectly. Probably not something in the management’s control but this was like the third time that happened. Anyways like I said the gym is very nice and I love coming here.

Love Crunch in Sugar Land! The guys at the front are always helpful and welcoming. Equipment is clean and so are the bathrooms which is important to me. The early morning hours are so slow I can always work out in peace. And the water massage chairs…. Life changing! Not just a gym for the bros, this momma is always happy there!

Came to crunch sugar land because I was in the area. My home crunch is in Cypress. Got to the gym at 8 and at 8:25 we left to the EOS gym down the street because no one had arrived to open the crunch gym. Heard things from the other patrons waiting in the parking lot with us about the management and the staff that don’t seem to care about their job. Will definitely not be back to this particular crunch location.

I would NOT recommend this location and give negative stars if I could for anyone looking to sign up for a gym membership or even visit as a guest. My friend and I came in around 7:30pm after the evening rush for a quick workout. She has a Signature Club Membership (over 4X the cost of a regular franchise crunch fitness membership) and was told she cannot bring a guest even though a regular membership does allow for it. Nevertheless, we said we understood and simply asked if I could go ahead and obtain a guest pass for the day. They told us since we already walked into the building, I was no longer a guest and could not obtain a guest pass and had to pay $10 for entry. I recently moved to the area and was genuinely interested in trying the gym to become a member.

I’ve NEVER encountered any gym while living throughout Texas that has turned away a potential new member by telling them once they walk through the front door that they are no longer eligible to get a guest pass or gym trial. I will add their online page offers a 7-day trial without any stipulations about revoking access AFTER simply walking through the front door. This is a franchise location and clearly run by an incompetent franchisee and poorly trained staff. STEER CLEAR of Crunch Fitness Sugar Land for your own sanity.

7/8/25 10 pm worst customer service. I am travelling and paid the $10 one-time fee since he said that after 7:00 p.m. you can't get a free pass. After paying, their credit card machine that approved on my side, but on his side, evidently the receipt that usually pops up did not come up. So, I immediately showed him my bank account, and you can see the crunch debit from that exact moment but he still insisted that it was not approved even though it was obvious that his computer was just glitching. So then I said look I'm going to be just 10 minutes for that $10 and he called the police on me. N they don't even appear to have an inner thigh machine what are some of the equipment that other crunch fitnesses have. Terrible management. Jesus says blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy and how you treat people here on Earth is how you treat Jesus (parable of the sheep and goats), so that customer service guy and the manager better repent because a woman of God who explained she has been traveling begged for Mercy even after paying and they refused. Don't you tell me you've never needed something real quick.! Many of us need gyms not only for health and fitness but also for physical therapy and stress relief. You saw my bank debit. Between December 2024 and April 2025, I was charged for both BASE and PEAK RESULTS memberships, despite having requested a correction in person and over the phone. After months of follow-up, including multiple emails and in-person visits, I was promised a refund of $91.15 by John Carpenter, the General Manager. Despite his assurances, the refund was never processed.

What’s more troubling than the unresolved refund, however, was the dismissive and evasive way management handled the situation. My emails to both John and the assistant manager, Angel, went unanswered. When I attempted to meet with John in person, he refused to speak with me, even after I waited over half an hour by the front desk. When I tried to escalate the issue to his district manager, I was stonewalled and not given any contact information; I ultimately had to track down a number myself, but received no return call or resolution.

After repeated attempts to resolve the issue through every available channel, I canceled my membership and joined another gym. I do not expect to receive the refund at this point, but I do want to caution prospective members about this club’s lack of professionalism and accountability, particularly when it comes to billing disputes and basic customer service.

There are plenty of other gyms in the area that value transparency and treat their members with respect. I regret that my experience with Crunch did not meet even the minimum standard of customer care.

This gym is very welcoming that I feel a good energy everytime I come here. The staff members and trainers are very kind and helpful. The only downside about this crunch fitness location is that it’s kinda limited in weight machines and it has big enough space to add just a few more variety weight machines especially for glutes, abdominal and a few of upper body. Many people come asking for certain other weight machines, sometimes if gets to busy and this gym needs a variation of a little bit more weight machines and 2nd not enough group fitness classes like the other locations. It would be nice to add at least 1 or 2 more cycling classes in a week and just 1 more group fitness class on Wednesday evening since there is no classes at all that day. But other than that is good.

Horrible experience at this gym. I have paid for crunch for a long time, have convinced ppl to join this gym in other cities, and been to many location. Never with such bad customer service and arbitrary policies. This location is giving the whole crunch franchise a bad name. Terrible terrible. No regard for loyal customers or interested potential members trying to get more info. Judging from the other (many,many) poor reviews, management will reach out with a generic response but will do nothing to address the issue so many seem to face. The confusing thing I was trying to give them business and willing to pay for my for a day pass and they were so hard headed they wouldn’t even listen to what I was trying to ask.

I recently had an upsetting experience at this gym involving an inappropriate conversation directed at my 7-year-old niece by staff in the childcare department. We had come in early that day—having just rolled out of bed—to start our morning with a workout. A staff member in childcare began questioning my niece about why our hair wasn’t combed and proceeded to make negative comments about our hair. While I could overlook personal judgment, what deeply disturbed me was that these comments were directed at a child.
I attempted to address the issue professionally by reaching out to the manager, who never returned my call. After reading concerns in other reviews, I emailed the owner. To my disappointment, he didn’t offer an apology. Instead, he responded with a screenshot confirming my membership cancellation—without so much as a thank you or acknowledgment of my experience.
As a paying customer and a concerned adult, I find this behavior unacceptable. I will be sharing my experience across multiple platforms to inform others, as it’s clear that both management and ownership reflect the same disrespect shown by the staff in the childcare department.

The worst Gym ever ! Before joining thus club i called to confirm if they have a childcare for my little one and i told them that she’s 7months old , they said yes so i went to the gym and i asked the manager to check on the childcare first before i submit my membership so on the door it said childcare for 3YO and up ! And no one was there so he said it’s okie we will accept your kittle one and kristel was watching her ! When i came to exercise the next day the morning staff didn’t allow me to enter because my baby is not allowed for the childcare and they said the babysitter who supposed to watch the kids is in vacation! So i called the manager he said yes we are sorry we can’t accept your little one and this is our policy and we will cancel your membership and give you a refund , the cancel my membership but didn’t give me a refund the cancellation wasn’t my choice !!!! So they charged me 35$ for 4 times exercising !!!!! The manager is horrible the place is terrible stay away from it all what they want is your money.

I have been coming here for nearly a month now. The main reason for my rating of 2 stars is the controllables not be executed. The equipment its self is very ran down. Torn pads, non lubed cable stacks and i've never seen the cardio equipment clean.

The employees dont interact with you unless you engage first. Even during my sign up I had to interupt someone who was on his phone to get help. As a previous district leader in the gym industry (one who is somewhat responsible for the lack of traffic at this location). I understand that its tough to get entry level staff to dress right and interact correctly. But with how slow this place is you would think corporate or the GM would refine the product to stil be able to compete with EOS which is right down the street.

I will say the biggest benefit of this place as a consumer is the lack of traffic and the younger crowd that think they have "made it" already with there 3k followers do not really come here.

Cancellation policy is a nightmare. I went in to cancel because of their 30 day notification when you’re cancelling only for the manager not to be there. I was given their card to contact and sent 2 emails that day with no response. I then checked their website to cancel only to find this specific gym is not on their website to cancel. I called the gym cancel only for them to tell me I have to be in person. I’m cancelling because I moved to the other side of the city. I come in to cancel only for a manager (different name from the card I received) who I am cancelling with told me because I am giving him the 30 day notice of cancelling I still have to pay the following month because it falls in line with 30 days. I told him I was trying to contact a different manager, a card I was given but because I’m cancelling with this manager, those previous attempts do not matter. If you are going to sign up for this gym keep that in mind when you need to cancel.

Horrible Experience with this gym. Signing up was easy. Signed up for a personal trainer too. Then the trainer quit after 2 weeks. I never got set up with another, but kept getting charged. Couldn't cancel gym membership OR the personal trainer as they were between managers, and the new manager didn't have authority. Finally after stopping by several times, and only because one of the nice gym guys called the manager, John Carpenter, did I get an email stating my gym cancellation. Only to get an extra charge with no explanation. Still kept getting charged for a personal trainer though. No replies to multiples calls, never a manger when I stopped by, several unanswered emails. I finally disputed it with my card company. I had to dispute about 3 charges of $180. Then I got charged for $540 ,, I'm guessing for my dispute? I tried ending this in March, in April, in May. I'm still getting charged. Don't make the mistake of signing up. I should have read the reviews. Glad I didn't give them my personal bank account, as they requested initially. I don't know how places like this stay in business. Beware.

The gym itself is a 4/5 for the price you’re paying, but the workers here are definitely the main issue. The manager never responds to his emails, the workers trick you to get more money out of you and they tend to lose their temper quite easily. If it wasn’t for the owner who fixed my cancellation issue I would’ve given them a 1 star review. But from what I have seen and my own personal experience, if you have any issues about this gym just email the owner directly, the owner will make things right.

Unprofessional Front Desk Experience: UPDATED

I will keep the one star review for the unacceptable customer service but I will like to say we were provided with the wrong name. Angel was not part of this incident, it was the younger guy with the eyebrow piercing and long hair.

Unfortunately, our recent visit was negatively impacted by the unprofessional behavior of a front desk employee. When our pass didn’t scan properly, instead of simply asking us to rescan, he immediately became agitated and made a scene. Throughout our time there, he continued making inappropriate comments. When we calmly asked if there was an issue, he became confrontational and even threatened to kick my boyfriend out.

While I understand that not everyone has strong emotional regulation skills, working in customer service requires a certain level of professionalism and communication. Thankfully, another staff member, Alex, handled the situation with much more maturity and professionalism and was able to de-escalate things. It was clear that this wasn’t an isolated incident, as Alex mentioned other employees had also observed Angel’s behavior.

I hope management takes this seriously, as no guest should be made to feel uncomfortable or be threatened during their visit.

If there’s any questions or doubts, the whole interaction should have been captured by the cameras inside the gym as well as the surrounding people trying to enjoy their workout.

I have been using this gym for over a year now, and I have consistently noticed the substantial efforts made to keep both the facility and bathrooms clean. Unlike many other gyms in the area, it never feels overcrowded, allowing for a more enjoyable workout experience. The front desk staff are always welcoming and ready to assist, with Angel Salinas, in particular, going above and beyond to support the members.

Absolutely horrible management. I canceled last November but they kept charging me every month until now. No response from the manager, John Carpenter III, despite multiple attempts through email or in person. He's either not there or "on a call" but I know he's hiding in his little room because he's scared of confrontation. They even opened up another account under my name to keep charging me. Is there a owner than can contact me? Because I'm ready to take legal action if I don't get my money back. I know another client who's going through the same thing. Read the reviews and never come here. EVER. Don't refer anyone. Plus multiple equipment were broken constantly. I truly hope they close this location simply because of manager.

I would highly recommend anyone to join this gym. The service provided here is awesome, clean gym not super packed. Employees such as Angel and John at the gym go above and beyond for members or people who are interested in becoming members. Answer all questions with no issues and whether you become a member or not they provide free 7 day trials to see if you like it or not. I have been a member here for Almost a year now and haven’t had any kind of complains, machines up to date & clean. I previously came from a different gym nearby and service here has been exquisite- Love this location.

I had a similar issue with the referral program — I brought in three people, followed all the steps, and kept checking in about the free month I was promised. After weeks of back and forth, I was finally told I don’t qualify because one of the people I referred didn’t stay signed up. That was never explained in the beginning, and honestly, it feels like a convenient excuse to avoid honoring the promotion. I did what was asked — whether someone decides to cancel later shouldn't be held against me.

Another letdown is the lack of WiFi. It’s frustrating to be in a gym where streaming music or following online workouts isn’t even an option. In this day and age, a stable internet connection shouldn’t be a luxury.

I also noticed a huge lack of consistency when it comes to how new visitors are treated. Some people get to try out the facilities, including the hydro-massage, without any problem. But when I brought someone with me, they were told they had to pay just to see the place — no trial, no tour, nothing. On top of that, we were left waiting over half an hour just to be told to sign up online before we could get any help. The whole process felt confusing and unwelcoming.

Crunch really needs to work on clear communication, honoring their own policies, and treating every guest with the same level of respect. A gym should feel organized, fair, and consistent — this one misses the mark.

This location has the worst customer service I have ever experience in any industry. When I called to speak to a manager, the young man that answered the phone was highly unprofessional, sassy and condescending. I Will never do business with this location, and almost canceled my membership due to their unprofessionalism and rude behavior. Every member should be told exactly what to expect regardless if it affects the sales of memberships. They truly need to train their staff to have interpersonal communication skills and to properly set the tone and expectations for all guests.

When I asked to speak with the manager, the man act as if I was asking for the manager’s home address and phone number. He refused to allow me to speak to the manager in regards to my account. Just terrible. Crunch needs to prioritize training their staff on interpersonal communication skills and professionalism. There’s honestly no point in opening new locations if your existing locations have terribly rude staff!

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. My experience at this gym has been nothing short of frustrating, confusing, and frankly, disappointing. I was genuinely excited to start working out here after hearing about their free trial and referral offers — but what I actually got was a chaotic mess wrapped in empty promises.

First, I was told I could try the gym with a free trial. Cool, right? Except, when I got there, nobody seemed to know what was going on. I waited around forever, only to be told I had to go back outside and sign up online. Why not just say that from the beginning? The staff kept passing me off to one another like I was some kind of inconvenience. After 40 minutes, I just gave up.

Then came the referral program — don’t even get me started. I referred people, they signed up, paid, and actually showed up — yet I was told I wasn’t eligible for the referral reward because they didn’t stay long enough. Are you serious? I did my part. If your gym can’t keep members, how on earth is that my fault? It’s like they make up rules as they go, just to avoid giving you the reward they promised.

The gym itself? Outdated equipment, no WiFi, and the vibe is just… off. I’ve been to plenty of gyms, and this one felt the most disorganized. One day, guests are allowed to try certain amenities. The next day, suddenly it’s not allowed. My parents were shown around and treated kindly, but when I brought my husband, we were asked to pay just to look around. No consistency. No logic. Just confusion.

Bottom line: it’s all smoke and mirrors. This place looks fine on the surface, but behind it is a complete lack of transparency, communication, and professionalism. They don’t value your time, and they definitely don’t value you as a person.

I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone — not even if it were free. You deserve better. Don’t waste your time here.

I’m really disappointed with the experience at this gym. I was told I’d get a free month if I referred three people. I’ve referred three, and I’ve consistently followed up — yet every time I ask, I’m told there’s still no update. Now they say I’m not eligible because one of the people I referred is no longer a member. They expect us to refer three people within a particular time frame to get the benefit? How does someone quitting the gym cancel out my effort in referring them in the first place? I did my part — whether they stayed or not isn’t in my control.

The gym also lacks a basic amenity like WiFi. For a place where people spend hours working out, not having a functional internet connection is just ridiculous.

There’s also no consistency in how they treat potential members. When my parents came to check out the gym, they were given a chance to use the hydro-massage and explore. They made us wait over 40 minutes just to tell us we needed to step outside and sign up online to even qualify for a trial. What kind of confusing policy is that?

Cancelling was a nightmare but The Owner made things right. I previously rated 1 star specifically just for the General Manager John Carpenter. He is terrible at his job, lies, fraudulently charges people, never responds, has terrible customer service & they need to fire him immediately. (coming from a manager of another gym myself so I know how these things work) He overcharged me when trying to cancel & fraudulently charged personal training. The gym itself gets 5 stars & The Owner gets 5 stars. The Owner emailed me, refunded my money, and made sure my membership was 100% cancelled. I would never go back as long as the General Manager John Carpenter works there but The Owner was amazing, very professional, helpful, and made things right. The gym is really nice, clean, big, and has lots of equipment. I was a member for 2 years & would’ve stayed but now I’m forced to leave because of John. If you go, make sure to keep the owner’s email on-hand. I hope this gym makes the right decision about their GM because it was my favorite spot.

My son has been going to crunch fitness for the past two summers. Never had an issue with cancelling his membership until last summer. My son went to the gym to cancel his membership & was told to send an email to management which he did. They never cancelled, I called & went in person & talked to Mr Carpenter who is the manager & was told I had to pay for the full two months + annual membership. We paid this & crunch fitness was still charging us up to November. So I desputed the charges with credit card company. Now crunch fitness sent us a letter from a collection agency of an additional 91$, We already paid 300$ when mg son only went to the gym that one month. I recently called to speak to the owner & no one knows his name. I was told again to send an email, which I did and no response. Now they are ruining my sons credit. Beware of this gym, better go to EOS since they are true to their promotions & price. My husband & son both go to EOS of Sugarland & enjoy it!

Wanted to write a review of my experience here. The staff have been friendly every time I've come, and the facility is always clean. It's also very common to see someone walking around cleaning and checking the equipment. I paid for the membership that allowed me to work out in multiple locations and bring guests. That was very helpful as I would travel frequently around the city. There are lots of options when it comes to fitness, but this was a solid experience for me all around.

Overall installation is good and clean. However, I’ve been trying to get ahold of someone to help me cancel my membership for almost a week now and no luck. I already have a membership with Killeen’s Crunch Fitness since I’m stationed at Fort Cavazos. On the 28th December 2024, roughly around 4 pm I went to Sugar Land’s location and brought in a guest, like I did for a week prior, and the people at the desk that day told me my current membership didn’t meet the requirements to bring in a guest so they offered me opening a membership with them, which was confusing because this was news given that I didn’t have a problem with them for a whole week and I’ve been able to go to different locations for months since I visit my family in Houston quite often. Nonetheless, I ended up opening a membership with them thinking that my membership at Killeen didn’t go through or something just to find out later that day that my membership with Killeen was still active and in fact had Peak, which allowed me to bring in guests at any location. I don’t know if Sugar Land’s desk personnel gave me the wrong information to meet quota or something but I just wanna cancel my membership with them, I just read the agreement and it states I had 5 business days to cancel but the staff told me I had to wait 3 days to be able to cancel ? It makes no sense. I will move forward legally if I don’t receive help in the next 24 hrs. I have military orders to prove why I need to keep Killeen Crunch Fitness as my home gym and I don’t understand why no one has been able to give me a response.

I had a highly disappointing experience with the management at this facility, particularly the General Manager, John A. Carpenter, and Assistant Manager, Casey. I noticed I was double-charged for my membership after updating my payment information over the phone. During that call, I mentioned considering cancellation but never confirmed it. When I visited in person to resolve the issue, the employee I spoke with was immediately dismissive and rude. Upon requesting the manager, I was met with defensiveness and a lack of professionalism from Mr. Carpenter. While attempting to explain my concerns, he was not only unhelpful but condescending in his responses. Casey, the Assistant Manager, interjected unprofessionally, saying the solution was “on the first page of the contract” without offering real assistance.
The situation escalated further when I felt disrespected as I walked out, overhearing inappropriate comments made loud enough for me to hear. When I addressed this behavior, Casey’s justification—that “people from New York just talk that way”—was both dismissive and unprofessional. Additionally, his later comment implying that my concerns stemmed from being a “woman” was unacceptable and offensive. To my surprise, I also learned the police were called simply because I sought answers and accountability. This behavior demonstrates a concerning lack of respect for customers and an inability to address issues appropriately. Given similar complaints about John Carpenter dating back months, it’s clear that management issues are ongoing and unaddressed by the company. Membership cancellation
If you become a member at this gym and decide to cancel, make sure you get everything in writing before you leave the gym. You may even need to go to the White House to get it notarized. I have been trying to cancel my membership since August of this year. I have gone in person to cancel. I have spoken to several staff members on the phone, and I have also emailed the general manager, John Carpenter, three times, and the assistant manager, Casey, once regarding canceling my membership. As of this day, December. 10th my membership is still active and they are still trying to charge my credit card. John Carpenter is very rude, narcissistic, and need anger management classes. He is the dirt that makes the club nasty. I have been calling the gym almost daily now trying to get it canceled. They look at caller ID and say, managers not there, call back later, they just walked out the door, etc. Anything to avoid doing what’s right. I’ve been a member of several gyms, and have NEVER experienced so much stress and frustration from trying to cancel. Is it that the club needs money that bad that they would try to rob their customers? Is this what you all are doing now to pay for your business? After calling everywhere trying to get in touch with the corporate office, I decided to look here on the site. Now I really see this is a common thing. I started a 1 dollar black friday deal at crunch. They explicitly told me it would only be 1 dollar when i signed up. However when i went back to cancel the membership, they told me that they would be charging an annual fee for the next year and a monthly fee, totaling to around 70 dollars. I have been a member at this location for a year and a half now. I absolutely love the size of the gym and the variety of equipment available with no wait no matter what time of day! The staff are so friendly and the personal trainers and group fitness instructors are top notch. I have been custom personal training with Tom for about a year and I’ve been attending ‘The Ride: HIIT the Road’ spin class with Benjamin, which is the most challenging and intensely rewarding cycling class ive ever taken, thanks to his motivating instruction!

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. The gym is so crowded with younger kids hogging the machines for long periods of time and then they don’t even put the weights back. Plus when we had to move and I tried to cancel my two memberships the manager only canceled one and then never responded to the many emails I sent and I have been charged for 4 months for a gym service I have cancelled. When I tried calling I was told my only recourse was to continue emailing the same manager, John Carpenter, who refuses to respond to me. My son drove all the way over there and cancelled the membership and I am STILL being charged. If I could leave zero stars I would. The General Manager needs to either be replaced or retrained. He makes consistent mistakes and lies. In august, I went in to pay my late due fees. I was helped by the GM and offered a deal of 3 payments of $75 each, in the span of three months and receive the rest of the year a fee-free membership! Only to be slammed with multiple payments that I was told were “payments every member pays”. Instead of paying $225, I payed close to $400 dollars in fees!!!! Even when the GM himself told me I would no longer be charged anymore and that he personally would be making sure of it. I understand that we are humans and we make mistakes, but to falsely offer a deal that can not be possible is just wrong. I regret informing my friends and family to this as to being a great gym. Please. District Managers, replace or retrain the GM that is John A. Carpenter. He is never available when needed and is very short tempered. And his fellow employee David. As for he as well lied about the payments being “necessary” even when I told him that the GM needs to inform you about the payments for my account.

Trying to speak to management at this gym is an absolute nightmare. I canceled my gym membership back in August. They have continued to try and charge me for an annual fee as well as an extra month’s membership due.
Every time I have tried to reach the manager to discuss this, he has been “at lunch.” Speaking to the staff at the front desk has been an atrocious experience as well. I’ve been told by them continuously to “email the manager, that’s how you get in contact with him.” Doing so is pointless as he never responds. Instead, they send whatever charges they deem appropriate to collection and then rinse their hands of any involvement.
Don’t sign up here at any cost. It’s not worth it.

The manager, John Carpenter, does not respond to emails, phone calls and apparently is never at the location. I have sent several emails and called multiple times to change my membership to One Pass. After not being responded to, I asked to cancel my membership. I gave my 30 day notice in July and was still charged in September. I sent 6 emails and called 4 different days only to be told to call back "he will be in tomorrow." I finally had to go into the location to cancel the membership bc I was still being charged monthly. My favorite part is all these negative reviews say to email manager. I have been doing that and have gotten 0 response. Good luck if you ever try to cancel. I was told I would get a month for $1 and I could cancel at any time. Which was perfect because I only wanted to use the gym once, because my current gym was temporarily closed.

After a week, at the start of the new month, I was billed the monthly fee, so right off the bat, they were quite deceitful.

To cancel, they told me to email the manager. He took about to 2 weeks to get back to me and said I wouldn’t be able to cancel for another 2 months and I would be charged the annual fee as well. Come here if you want to be treated like crap for wanting to cancel and like predatory sales tactics.

Gym wise, the equipment leaves much to be desired, only had like 3-4 squat racks. Equipment kinda old and dilapidated.

Be prepared to sweat, not because of your workout, but because it's 80 degrees plus inside. The temperature has been rising for the last few weeks and is now near intolerable. Naturally the place is starting to smell. Fix your AC or stop being cheap and turn it back on!

I've been a member at Crunch for three years and a member at the Sugar Land location for the last year and a half. Coming from another Crunch location, I was very pleased with the transition. I like how the gym has an open layout and staff are continuously walking around making sure it's well kept. A huge shoutout to the management team, over the past year I've noticed how much of an effort they make to connect with members to help facilitate whatever their goals may be.

Definitely check out Benjamin's spin class for a great sweat, he creates a positive and high energy environment for both experienced and beginner cyclists. I had never tried spin classes and it has now become routine when I'm trying to get in and out of the gym efficiently.

Also, a friend of mine and I recently started training with Arlando and couldn't be happier with the results. From the get go, he has kept us motivated, coached us on how to use unfamiliar machines/exercises and provided nutritional resources which has led to a noticeable increase in my strength and mobility in just a few short months. He has done a great job coordinating the group fitness classes and bringing in some really awesome trainers. Thanks, Arlando!

Been coming to Crunch Sugar Land since February and love the atmosphere! My friend and I signed up with Arlando for training once a week, he’s very knowledgeable and makes sure we are comfortable! We also do spin class on Tuesday and Thursday with Ben and he does a great job motivating everyone!! There are soo many other group classes always going on, it’s a fun time and a great gym!!

The only thing that was nice about this gym was how easily they made the registering process.
They offered a month free and charged me not even 2 weeks later for a full month. I have been trying to to contact someone about canceling my membership since then and have only been getting the run around. Finally weeks later after emailing, calling and even going in person I get a response that my membership won’t be canceled until another extra month only so they can charge me an additional month and any other fees they decide to add. It’s a whole lot of scamming and clearly not the only one they’re doing it to.
Gym was not ever cleaned, bathrooms always smelled like sewer. Staff was only friendly to her business. Highly don’t recommend.

Average gym, nothing special, except for the locker room smelling because of the dirty toilet.
But the real problem was when my wife and I tried to cancel our membership. We came in person and the guy at the reception assured us that everything was done and no further action was required from us. We would only need to pay for the next month, because we had to notify 30 days in advance. We did not argue. The payment was processed. A month later, they charged us for another month. We were already in another state, I called to say that it was a mistake and to return the money, to which the manager replied that there was no mistake and, moreover, they would also charge for the next month, which they eventually did. (We had already paid for 3 useless months). They refer to the fact that they did not receive any notifications about the cancellation of the membership. The manager did not respond to further letters.
Judging by the reviews, we are far from the only ones from whom they unfairly charged money in this way.

At least 2-3 main machines are broken in this gym. The only cable fly machine in the gym has been broken for months now. Currently, there are a total of 6 machines out of order. This gym has no desire to fix their machines, and their AC seems to be broken since the beginning of this summer.

I've been a member of this gym for 2 years. The crew is outstanding and friendly, but the broken equipments never gets fixed. There has been atleast 3 equipments that have been broken for more than six months. The restroom and sauna cleanliness is not that great either. Only giving 2 stars because of the great staff.

I’ve been a member of this gym for a while and initially had a great experience. However, I’ve noticed that maintenance issues are not addressed promptly, which has been disappointing. The equipment, sauna, and even the facility’s walls have needed attention for months, and these delays affect the overall experience. While the staff is friendly, communication with management about these concerns hasn’t led to timely resolutions. I hope to see improvements soon, because my friends & I are gonna look elsewhere if nothing is getting resolved.

Just moved and I’m trying to find a gym near my new home. I sign up for the free trial. I show up and you have to be “within a 5 mile radius.” Well my DL states my old address. I show the home deed to prove my new address and that it’s exactly at the 5.0 mile requirement and still get turned away lol.

Shady crooked management claiming to follow company policies. Using illegal tactics to force people into the most expensive membership service without letting them know. On top of it, these crooks make it annoyingly hard to cancel a membership. I called here & one of their managers told me to come in person to cancel. When arrived, another manager tells me I owe for next month since there was no 30-day notice of my cancellation. Keep in mind: this was never mentioned as a cancellation requirement!! Horrible place to work out ran by even worse people. Don’t waste your money here.

The leg extension machine has been OUT of ORDER for about 3 months. No exaggeration. I tried to msg them on X, post on their page and even emailed them via website. No response. This pic is from May 23, 2024 but it was broken about mid April. I only took a pic 3-4 weeks later because I was surprised it wasnt fixed yet.
