I give 2 stars and not one only because they have a massive amount of workout equipment and space to get your exercise in, but what really turned me off to this gym was the men’s locker room smell is about the worst locker room smell I’ve ever smelled in all of the gyms I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to planet fitness both of the ones that are in town , to 24 hour fitness, and chuze fitness on the west coast at multiple locations. All the gyms I’ve been to were affordable just like this one. So you can’t use the excuse of (you get what you pay for) Smells like mold underneath a male’s genitalia. It literally makes me wanna throw up after my workout, stepping into there. I know this is not a one time or one day occurrence because I’ve been in there multiple times now. They really gotta get that under control. It might be because of the sauna that’s inside there. That’s making everybody’s body odor smell like five times worse. I don’t know.

Terrible service tried contacting them about charges and would not do anything. Mother passed away so I stopped going for a bit. No understanding and when asked about billing they said” we’re just a franchise can’t do anything “ your a number not a person.

Had stuff stolen out of my gymbag that was in a locker in the mens room just a heads up. Also a complete lack of equipment such as 0 rack clips for benches, maybe 3 ropes for cables, maybe 4 total handles for cable flys, wayyyy to big of a gym to not afford more attachments leaving you waiting 30 min for 1 person to finish using 1 of 3 total rope extensions :(

BAD NEWS EVERYONE - To cancel your membership you need to either visit the front desk at your home club or to send a certified letter to the club stating you want to cancel and they will bill you anyway for the next 30 days after you cancel - so get ready to pay for unused membership period during your cancellation - this is unethical and irresponsible business. I emailed them to cancel and even called their offshore customer service line. They billed me my annual $89 "membership" fee and then also added on another $30 for late fees. I also am told they will continue to charge my account until the late balance is cleared.
I recommend you file your cancellation letter immediately and then go to the gym and ask to go Month to month with the ability to cancel anytime. I am going to also seek the attorney general to see how we can have membership clubs like this not be allowed to setup such terrible membership policies. This is scammy and terrible customer service.

They had a male plumber come into the women's room while i was in there and continued to come inside and a worker escorting him did not stop him and they both ignored my presence. Management did not seem to care when I let them know. As a young woman I am truly bothered by this and just want other ppl to be safe.

Dope. When I first moved here, I check out 2 gyms (this being the second) saw how many squat racks and bumper plates were avaliable, and I immediately stopped looking. Even when it's packed I have never had to wait on a squat rack. Everything else, I consider accessory workouts. I can find enough space anywhere to target certain muscles, if a machine is taken, it's no big deal. I pay little attention to that and go find something else to target the muscles. They have a lot of machines, free weight, barbells (most important thing), different types of cardio machines, and have designated locations for different group instructor workouts. They also offer things I have yet to use, ex red light therapy, don't know what it is, but some dude in there said it's worth trying.

Love this gym but the music is so loud and annoying especially when you’re trying to relax in the sauna

It has a great equipment and space, but it's really distracting to workout there.
The noise is awful - the music is way too loud, especially when some trainer is blasting a class soundtrack at 1000% volume that everyone else has to hear. The music playlist is also bubblegum pop music meant for teenage girls. No East Texas man wants to listen to that crap when he's working out. Play some classic rock or metal sometimes.
The cleaning staff goes around when it's busy spraying toxic cleaning agents into the air right next to people working out.
The sauna is unsupervised. People wear their dirty shoes and socks right after training.

Edit: updating to five stars since the water fountains are good again, and cleanliness of the locker rooms seems slightly better. 😊
I usually train at Life Time, so my standards are pretty high—but out of all the gyms I explored in Tyler and East Texas, this was one of the best fits for what I’m used to. Compared to other Crunch locations I’ve been to, this one feels more spacious, more modern, and better organized. Even during peak hours, it’s typically easy to find and use the equipment I need.
The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful, though sometimes they are overwhelmed with how busy the gym can get - no fault of there’s. The gym is well-stocked with machines, free weights, and functional fitness zones. The value for the price is hard to beat.
My only real gripes are maintenance issues—like locker rooms or bathrooms being less clean than ideal, and the water fountain always being warm. But those things have been manageable.
Overall, Crunch Tyler delivers a great gym experience, especially for the price. If you’re in the area and serious about training, it’s definitely worth checking out.

I love working out at Crunch Fitness! Me, my wife, and son go about 4 to 5 days a week. We go early in the morning and it's not too busy until about 6. They have plenty of machines, treadmills, bikes, and plenty of bench presses.

Bad experience with the sales team at the front being overly pushy, not taking no for an answer.
Also, the men's locker room has been smelling foul for over a month.
During peak hours its hard to find open equipment and lately the gym culture has been tanking.
People sit around on machines either talking, on their phones or looking at chicks.
People slamming equipment and using equipment wrong. Plenty of trainers walking around but none seem to care about the bad apples slamming machines or rigging them up in a way that damages the machines leading to downtime on equipment.
None of the weights are being racked properly and doesn't seem like their staff ever sorts out the weights.
The positives of the gyms are the child care, access to trainers and wide selection of equipment as well as the different classes they run.

Sign up for 5cents and then your required to pay for at least 2 months and have to pay there “annual fee before you can cancel. Employees don’t do a good job disclosing the details of signing up, rush you through it all so make sure you read the fine print or you’ll have to pay extra fees and an annual fee even if you decide the gym isn’t for you , Not to mention it’s always crowded. Would not recommend.

Really enjoy this gym and all the different machines and different styles of machines. It could be packed in there and I feel like realistically you never really have to wait THAT long for whatever you're trying to accomplish that day. The child care room and the staff are amazing.
I've been to multiple crunch locations in different states all over the US and this location is by far my favorite, not just because of the size. The staff do a really well job at making you feel welcome and remembering you when you come back.
I would recommend Crunch Tyler to anyone looking to grow, learn, or just go in and have fun.

Very disappointed with the experience here, my wife and I joined and unfortunately we don’t have the time to drive all the way from our house to the gym as much as we would like due to work so we called to cancel, I was fine with paying an extra months worth of membership but we were never told anything about the annual fee having to be paid before cancellation(we’ve been members for less than a month) . We called to cancel and they want to charge a fee when we have only been members for less than a month, and on the phone said” oh well an employee might have told you this but “ definitely do not recommend unless you enjoy a crowded gym and employees that don’t explain the guidelines completely.

Been a member for little over a year. Gym has all amenities needed. But, the gym has some problems. Primarily lack of leadership. The gym is constantly dirty. There are multiple employees on duty but never anyone cleaning. Furthermore, the gym pushes to sign with personal trainer. The problem is the trainers are not training any gym etiquette. Members and especially new members do not rack their weights while with a PT. New members will get dumbbells from the rack and stand directly in front of weights blocking the walk path and multiple dumbbells. Again…amenities are great…management….not so much.

I do not recommend this Crunch. Personal training program is very outdated and staff was not very transparent regarding the personal training policies. Do not spend over $3,000 for their 6 month training program. Their trainers don’t even see half of that cost. Not worth it!

Told me I had a free day pass, then charged me and my friend who was with me two different amounts at the end of that month. Went online to cancel... no one replied to the contact form I reached out to multiple times. called the number on the crunch website and it said the numbers weren't monitored. Got sent to collections since no one wanted to help me get it fixed.

Best Gym in Tyler hands down. Used to be too crowded but they doubled the size of the location and I am very pleased.
It may seem petty but I had to take a star away. Warmer than roomtemp water out of the drinking fountain. Made for a very unpleasant protein shake. Note to self bring cold water.

Unethical and Misleading Business Practices
When I tried to cancel my membership, the business’s voicemail instructed me to submit a cancellation request through their website. I followed those steps and received a message on my screen saying I’d be contacted within 1–2 business days — I never was. However, the payments stopped, so I assumed the cancellation had gone through.
Months later, I received a $200 collection notice. When I finally spoke to someone, they admitted it appeared to be a mistake and offered to “settle” if I just paid one month. I refused, as this felt completely unfair. The manager, Jay, then told me their website doesn’t actually work and that cancellations must be done in person — despite the voicemail still directing members to cancel online.
At this point, I was rightfully frustrated and angry. I made that clear, and Jay responded by criticizing my reaction. But frankly, anyone in my position would have reacted the same way — being sent to collections for a membership I had already attempted to cancel, with zero contact or warning.
Jay also claimed they always call when payments fail — I was never called, and I have phone records to prove it. He said there was no record of my cancellation (which I have proof of), and insisted that usage doesn’t matter, so I still owed the balance. When I expressed that these business practices are crooked and wouldn’t stand up legally, he accused me of “threatening” him.
When I asked for a corporate number, I was first given one that wasn’t even for Crunch, and then another that plays a message stating it’s not monitored.
This entire experience was mishandled, dishonest, and deeply frustrating. Do better.

This is our second day at this gym, and unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience. We approached someone in the personal training area; we understand she was busy on the computer, but she didn’t even acknowledge us. A simple “Good morning, give me a moment” would have been enough, but instead, we were completely ignored.
Thankfully, someone else came over and helped us kindly. We’re not sensitive people and we don’t usually leave negative comments, but we truly believe that if you work with the public, the minimum requirement is to have a respectful attitude. You don’t always need words to be rude—your attitude alone can say a lot.
We hope this feedback helps improve customer service, because first impressions matter, especially for those of us who are just getting started.

Whether it’s helping with a workout, answering questions, or just bringing positive energy to the gym, Eden truly stands out. You can tell she really cares about what she does—and it shows. Normally I try to support small local gyms, but they don't have childcare which I need in order to workout. The kids babysitting staff is amazing and some of the ladies at times argue who is going to hold my girl 🤣. Gym equipment is well kept as well. Only comment I have is go before 4pm if you can because during the week it's super busy usually between 4-7ish pm.

Not so much a rating of the location itself but the company that makes it as difficult and inconvenient as possible to cancel your membership. You either have to go in person (i moved out of town so i cant) or send a letter in by mail so that they "know i want to cancel" even though i was telling them on the phone that I wanted to cancel using my phone number that doubles as my membership ID. The first time I called up to try and cancel, rather than telling me what I actually had to do, they gave me a bogus email address to contact that would take care of it. after not hearing back for a month, i called again and was informed that was never an option. so now im paying for a membership i cant use until my letter reaches their location, and then on top of that, their "30 day policy" keeps me locked into paying for another month that i cant use. It sucks because the gym itself is fantastic and the staff have typically been very nice. But any company that leverages this type of subscription model to suck every penny it possibly can out of you before you can break ties with it is everything wrong with corporate america. If they had made it easier then i would have absolutely signed back up once I moved again (which inevitably will happen within the next year or so) but out of principal, once Ive payed my last month, they will never have me as a customer again. dishonest, parasitic, and childish company

I've been attending since 2020 and am strongly debating whether to cancel my membership. The only way I can work out is by using the kids care and 70% of the time it's full and there's a wait list. Don't even bother coming if it's a school holiday or break. My favorite part of the gym is the cycling class but there isn't any point in signing up if childcare is always full and I spend the whole time sitting in the waiting area. Looks like gym fitness is only for those without kids.
I'd like to add that the child care workers are absolutely phenomenal and are really doing their best under the circumstances. It's the policies and lack of support from management that seem to keep perpetuating these problems.

I have been going to crunch for about 7 months now. The facility itself is nice, and EVERYONE knows it. If you are going to be coming to workout between 4-7 good luck finding a parking spot let alone enough space to do your workout. It's too overcrowded and the overall gym culture is AWFUL. People leave their station open and unattended for 10+ min, no one wipes down the equipment after using it, and if you do manage to find a machine that's available you'll be crowded by a random person for 5 minutes until you are done. On multiple occasions I've gotten up to get a wipe to clean the machine just to turn around and see that someone has already taken it before I could even move my equipment off of it. The patrons themselves have been disrespectful, intrusive, and bullies.
I really wanted to love this gym. This is such a huge let down. Looking forward to finding somewhere that actually values good gym culture, etiquette, and overall respect for their patrons.

I started going to crunch about A year and a half after I had my baby. I chose crunch because of childcare and it was the closest to my house with child care which is still about 40 min away. At first I was worried I’d have to cancel because my little one screamed and cried and hated it but then we found Mrs. Sarah and my baby loves going to the gym to see Mrs Sarah now. She made it sooo much easier on my mama heart and my 2 yr old. And I couldn’t have gotten back into the gym if it wasn’t for her in kids crunch! She treats my baby like her own and I couldn’t ask for better! As far as the gym I went before the updates and sometimes it seemed crowed but after the expansion and updates i never have to wait for a machine and if I do it’s just a matter of skipping to and coming right back and it’s open. The tanning beds are great, bathrooms are clean. 10 out of 10 for me.

My 2 girls probably keep me in shape by begging to go to the gym so they can play - and this is the exact opposite of how they were with our old gym. The kids love the day care and the staff! During the peak times when schools are off, we have only had to wait for a spot in the day care every now and then and it’s usually less than a 10minute wait even if they say 30 minutes!

I have been disappointed with Crunch since I signed up. It began with them double booking my initial training session and leaving me sitting in the lobby for 30 minutes without any explanation.
The frustration continued when I requested cancellation of my membership and they charged me an annual enrollment fee the next day.
I’m okay with paying another month’s fee, due to the 30 day cancellation rule. The annual fee charge is completely unacceptable, however.
I reached out to the gym and they were unhelpful. I tried the corporate number and it was “not monitored”.
Know what you’re in for before you sign up!

**9/20/24 Update**
I have to give it to Crunch, they did a massive expansion that greatly alleviated some of the pain points from my previous 2/5 star review. I still have issue with the general "cheap" feeling of some of the equipment, especially the Olympic lifting bars and bumper plates. However, they've done a solid job of expanding, so fingers crossed they reinvest in some of the quality of the equipment.
****
The staff are very nice, but that's about the only good thing about this gym. Every time I've been, it's always incredibly busy. Have fun waiting around for equipment. There just isn't enough equipment for the amount of people that come here. The equipment is also very cheap. The "Olympic" lifting bars aren't the right size, and don't feel like the right weight. The bumper plates are cheap garbage. I'd be surprised if the weights actually weighed what they say they do. All of the machines are pretty junk-tier. This place is basically a Planet Fitness with a different color scheme and no lunk alarm.

Had the premium membership from 2020-2023. Good facilities and the staff are very friendly, however, they were pretty crowded every time I went, especially over the last two years. Free weights area eventually became unenjoyable to workout in. Decided to cancel when my 30-45 minute workouts began to take an hour or longer, just waiting for machines. Cancellation of the membership was also difficult. Would return though if the overcrowding was addressed by management.
Edit (2024): Reopened my membership and the new additions made all the difference! Free weights actually have space now and even with a full parking lot at 6 PM, I was able to be in and out in 45 minutes. Crunch made all the right changes and it is good to be back!

Great gym. Maximiliano is a tremendous manager and the new expansion really opens the options and availability for all sorts of workouts. Affordably priced, clean, and loads of fun. If you hate working out but think you might want to start, or you’ve been doing it for decades and need a new gym to call home, give this Crunch a shot.

Good overall gym, despite the crowded times. The issue is with management. It is currently managed by a pedantic and neurotic child who ran off most all of the good trainers while allowing a member who has multiple complaints about making advances on younger and even underage girls including employees there to stay. I even heard they owe their trainers back pay from months and months ago. Definitely wouldn’t support a place like that if I were you.

I have been trying to cancel for two months and can’t. I submitted a cancellation request online in April, still got charged for May, and now I’m getting charged $17.40 (not the $9.99 I was paying) and I cannot get ahold of anyone. I also was charged the yearly fee last month AFTER putting in a request to cancel. I have left voicemails, submitted multiple requests, I do not know what else to do at this point. Do NOT enroll here unless you are okay with never being able to cancel.

Terrible facility that’s way overpriced. Signed up under the impression its month to month , went and worked out twice and both times were stupidly packed and i couldn’t exercise. Told them i wanted to cancel after going only a couple times and they said i have to stay 3 months AND pay their annual fee of $54 after tax. Even though i signed up for month to month and only went once. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING WITH PLANET FITNESS OR A LOCAL GYM THIS PLACE IS A JOKE.

Have been a loyal member for over 5+ years for the sole purpose of spray tanning. My daughter (12) is able to come with me because there are no UV rays in spray tanning. Today not only was I told this is not allowed after 5+ years of doing this but after asking my daughter to wait in the car they didn’t even have hair nets (proper supplies) for the booth. Needless to say, I will be canceling my 5+ year long loyal membership. Treat your loyal customers better!!

Had a promo. We signed up. Didn't like some aspects of the gym. Cancelled membership within 3 weeks. Fine print says you must pay for 2 months minimum and the annual fee. They will get you for $100 no matter what. Not a good business practice. Don't recommend at all. Someone should be able to try it out and if it doesn't work for them, quit, with no other financial obligations. Not pay for another month AND an annual fee when they were only there a few weeks. Criminal business practice. Google needs to add a negative start option.

If we can can sign up, and you take our money with a click of a button then let us cancel with a click of a button. On top of that it's the most awfully packed gym I would have to go at 3 a.m just to be able to do anything. Everything about crunch is a joke. I get more workouts done at my house and biking then at that dreadful place. Would give 0 stars if possible.

If I could choose 4.5 stars, I would. Not quite deserving of 5 but also not deserving of 4 either. Reason being that as far as the staff and the facility is concerned, very clean, very spacious, staff (particularly Max) are very friendly and accommodating. I have attended this gym for nearly 2.5 years and have only encountered two issues. One being an easily irritable customer working out, which frustrating albeit, isn't the fault of the store itself. My only other complaint is hidden fee's in the membership cost. But, who really gets a gym membership for $10 a month, right? Anyways, I commend Max as always being friendly, and helpful. He doesn't make me feel like a customer, but rather a friend.

Sad to say that I cancelled my membership today and I've been here since day 1. My daughter who just turned 3 got suspended again because she threw a toy and the toy hit another child ( that was not hurt) and she was also climbing on the playpen there. She is a very active child and is going to climb if she is not being entertained. The problem is the workers do not interact with the children like they should so kids do things like this. It's funny how I've seen older children climbing on top of the tables there and not be suspended but yet my 3 year old is. The fact of the matter is they truly didn't care for her 🙁......a mother can always tell. ANYONE working with children needs to have experience in how to redirect children and keep them entertained but the majority of these workers just didn't. Kids Crunch staff needs better training.

Fix your cancellation policy. You will never get repeat business from those who would've wanted to come back at a later date. Beyond stupid business practice. I actually like the facility itself, but your business ethics are lacking. This is an absolutely awful gym. They make you literally write & mail a letter in order to close your account. They still continue to take money out of my account after satisfying all circumstances needed to close the account.
This organization obviously is embezzling money through its inability to properly close accounts. I've lost over a hundred dollars & they still continue to steal my money. No remedy is offered & management seems unwilling to assist.
Do not make the mistake of linking your account to this place. They will never let you stop the payments. They will never give you a way to rectify the problem.
It has been a nightmare.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting a gym that left me feeling utterly disappointed and disgusted. This review aims to shed light on the rude and dirty conditions that I encountered during my visit, in the hope that others can avoid this unpleasant experience.
First and foremost, the staff at this gym were shockingly rude and unprofessional. From the moment I walked in, I was met with indifference and a complete lack of customer service. The receptionist seemed more interested in arguing with me rather than finding a solution. It was evident that they had no interest in providing a welcoming and helpful environment for gym-goers.
Moving on to the cleanliness aspect, this gym was an absolute nightmare. The men’s locker room floors were sticky and covered in pee and sweat, indicating a lack of regular cleaning. The sauna made the entire men’s room smell like milk that had gone bad months ago. The lack of cleanliness and basic upkeep in this area was not only unhygienic but also a potential health hazard. It was clear that the gym did not invest in regular cleaning or maintenance of its facilities.
To add insult to injury, the gym was overcrowded, making it nearly impossible to have a productive workout. The limited number of machines available meant long waiting times, which was frustrating and time-consuming. The lack of proper crowd control and management only added to the overall unpleasant experience.
In conclusion, my visit to this gym was nothing short of a nightmare. The rude and unprofessional staff, coupled with the dirty and unsanitary conditions, made it an environment I would never recommend to anyone. It is essential for a gym to prioritize cleanliness, customer service, and a positive atmosphere, all of which were severely lacking in this establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a gym that values its members and maintains a clean and welcoming environment.
