My son and I had a very bad experience with this organization’s afterschool program. He attended only one class, after which he cried and begged me not to go back. I requested a refund for the winter term we paid for, but the organization sent me a policy I had never seen before, stating that payments are non-refundable. In addition, their policy mentions the use of “time-out,” which I find completely unacceptable.

Use this as a cautionary tale.

My daughter was dancing here for seven years and it has increasingly become more prevalent that they only truly care about the dollar sign that comes with the amount you spend.

First off, they took away the cap that prevents you from spending more than a car payment or your mortgage. Now this wouldn’t be an issue if you competed on a grander stage like nationals.
Second, they don’t warm up their dancers properly. There have been multiple instances where dancers have come out injured including my daughter due to a lack of a proper warm up.
Third it seems like the strategy to place dancers on teams does not reflect the skill of the dancer but the loyalty and dollar amount spent to the studio. In short they do seem to play favorites.

This studio does have some wonderful teachers though and the front desk staff is amazing. Mrs Rachel is probably the nicest person in all of Texas and she runs amazing community out reach.

The studio is not worth the money you pay. No studio should cost as much as a house and they will tell you it’s a privilege to dance….

I have been dancing at encore for 9 years now. Dancing with Encore has been an amazing experience because I have learned so many things outside of dance that have made me a better person. I have gained lots of confidence and lots of friendships I could never get anywhere else.
All of the teachers here are amazing. They care for all their students and teach in our best interests. They push us hard but not past our ability. They are always working to get better at their job and help us get better at what we do.
I would definitely recommend Encore for all ages. Encore has one of the best communitys out there and some amazing teachers and staff that you can tell truly enjoy what their doing. They always have fun with us but also can be serious when they need to be. I am definitely so happy to be part of this studio.

My two daughters have each been attending ESOD for seven years, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made. The teachers are not only talented and professional, but also incredibly kind and caring. They create an environment where every dancer feels valued and supported.

A few years after my girls started, ESOD began offering adult tap classes, and more recently, adult hip-hop. I’ve been taking both classes since the beginning, and I absolutely love them! It’s such a joy to share the dance experience with my daughters and to be part of a community that welcomes dancers of all ages.

What sets ESOD apart is their commitment to developing not just great dancers, but great people. Their motto, “More Than Just Great Dancing,” couldn’t be more true. My daughter has been dancing with Encore since 2018. From tumble tots and recreational classes to competitive dance, our experience has been nothing short of amazing. She has gained confidence and learned new skills due to the quality instruction and caring teachers at this studio. The hard work and effort they put into each season set the example of a good work ethic for all the dancers. The staff at Encore genuinely cares about the character they are building into their students, which will last years beyond dancing. I love that each year they send out a survey to see where they can improve, and they listen! They are always willing to create the best experience possible for their dancers and their families. My daughter has been dancing here since 2015. She has danced recreationally and competitively. The buildings are clean and safe, the office staff is welcoming and knowledgeable and, most importantly, the teachers are knowledgeable and truly care for the children. My daughter’s teachers truly love her. She is comfortable and trusts each of them. Any time I have had a question, it has been resolved quickly and professionally.

Even after 10 years, we see consistent growth in our daughter’s dancing technique. She has met her best friends at the dance studio and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. I have recommended Encore without reservation to many people and will continue to do so.

Disclaimer : I do not have students enrolled at this studio. However, my son was able to attend a convention held at Encore that is typically only attended by kids on their team. I was a bundle of nervous energy sending him in there , especially because he doesn't know a soul, was the only boy I knew of, and everyone else knows each other. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded. The girls all welcomed him and made him feel so included. He absolutely LOVED his experience and said he made so many friends he can't wait to see at future competitions. The culture of this studio is clearly a healthy, positive one. I also heard parents in the lobby repeatedly complimenting my son while watching the live feed ...they had no idea he was mine and they were still sitting there praising him. I also loved how they were clapping for kids winning scholarships in the next room. The kids couldn't even hear them but the moms were still hype for them in the next room. I mean, that's just really wholesome stuff. The studio staff I dealt with when getting him registered were also great. The facility was very clean and nice, the app with the ability to watch a live stream is amazing (it's watchable in the lobby, too). Thanks y'all for being fantastic and I hope our paths cross again soon, you did this Mama's heart good this weekeend taking him under your wing and letting him flourish at such a great convention.

Encore is our home away from home & there is no where else we would rather be! We joined ESOD when our oldest daughter, who has different ABILITIES, was 4 (she is now 11). She was on the No Boundaries Dance Team with Mrs Rachel for 5 years & has been involved in other classes the past two years. They are the definition of #InclusionMatters & it warms my heart that so many look right past her disabilities & view her like a typical peer. Our youngest daughter began classes at ESOD when she was 18 months old (she is now 5) and quickly fell in love with dance + cheer! Both our girls have learned so much while being at ESOD & have made life long friendships.

It is a great dance studio to dance at I love love love the place and teachers so much! They are so kind here! I feel the teachers know when it’s the right time to do things and will not push you to far past what you think is your limit. They are very encouraging I started when I was 6 years old. I signed my daughter up for a 3-5 year old class. She is two weeks away from being three. We went threw the trial class and it was awesome! I loved the diversity and how the girls got engaged. We signed up for a Monday class at 5:45pm. The first week we noticed how there’s was close to 15 girls in the class and one teacher and one assistant. The teacher seemed to want control and didn’t allow the assistant to be as hands on as the trial class was. I raised the question to the front desk how come there were so many girls in the class and not an extra assistant? They showed us some other classes
That didn’t meet our schedule at all. The next week we showed up and the teacher told my wife they had been tryin to email her all week cause the teacher all of a sudden doesn’t think my daughter is old enough to be in her class. Lol Funny after we raised concerns all of a sudden she didn’t meet the requirements. They didn’t want to find a new class for her so we just got are full refund back and had to explain to her why she isn’t going back to dance class next week like she yearns to do so bad. Disgusting treatment from a place I’ve seen in Saginaw years. This is after they had us go and buy all the material for her to join the class. Not much but over 200$ spent Not wasted I’ll find her another class with teachers who actually want to have one on one time with the girls in there classes not just throw a 45 minute dolled up recess once a week. So sad. I highly recommend a Gymboree music and dance class instead of this place. Seem very greedy stuck up people when confronted on there wrong doings on the matter as well.

I have kept quiet for far too long. We have been with Encore for 11 years. Against my better judgment and all the red flags we kept our daughter at encore because she had so many friends she loved there. She was On the dance team there for several years. This year as we all know has been crazy. When the shutdown started and the studio went to zoom classes we stuck it out. We still paid up until June1st when the “normal” season would have ended. Our daughter went to class each week. Eventhough some of her teacher quit and they put new teachers in their spot. We left Encore June 1st. We knew recital wouldn’t be at the normal scheduled date and we had a vacation planned. At that point even though our daughter went to class each week up until June they took her name off the recital shirt..even though they left some girls names on there that weren’t in the zoom classes and didn’t do recital. AND didn’t order her her 11th year trophy. We were told by the owners daughter to come up to the studio to get our daughters trophy When we went to the studio to ask for it we were told she wouldn’t be receiving one because she didn’t do recital. Doing Recital has never been A requirement to get a trophy. They always hand them out weeks before recital even happens.
Second issue is that our daughter has danced at encore for 11 years and has worked hard to receive her pointe shoes. At some point her not receiving her pointe shoes means we need to go elsewhere.
We decided to take our daughter elsewhere to try for pointe shoes. Within 3 weeks she received her pointe shoes at the new studio. As soon as her friends congratulated her on Instagram she was unfollowed by the ballet teacher At encore and by encore. Please don’t unfollow a teenage girl who has worked her tail off..that’s incredibly immature and unprofessional.
Third issue. When a teacher of dance team sits against the wall at competition while her team receives the highest award given and doesn’t clap. I mean all the parents screaming and clapping and she sits there without even smiling.
Fourth issue. When your daughter is invited to a pre pointe class and you receive an email from the owner congratulating your daughter for being invited to the pre pointe class and in the same email you are told you will be paying for another class, but this class doesn’t guarantee your daughter pointe shoes..I’m sorry then why am I paying for another class if she isn’t going to get her pointe shoes in the end?
All of this Is incredibly disheartening to say the least.
Our daughter has spent so much time at Encore and has made some incredible friends there. We had only wished that after 11 years our exit would have meant more to the staff and to some of the teachers.

Our recital, like every other studio, had to be replanned. On June 1, we got an email for save the date letting us know the rescheduled date was set for the end of June, but the owner, Michelle, has refused to give any info besides that like where, when each class will go on(there will be multiple shows and times for social distancing). When I asked about tights and make up she told me I didn’t need to know these things yet and basically told me she didn’t understand why I was asking about recital details since my daughter wasn’t in person at the studio the last couple of weeks since they reopened, which was a choice she gave us parents who weren’t ready to put their kids back in. She took all of my monthly payments since last August for this season, but I’m not allowed to ask a question for a recital I paid for?? 3 weeks out and I’m told by staff “we don’t know anything”. When I requested our $40 recital fee be returned due to lack of communication and the rescheduled date no longer works for our work schedules (which is why I needed to know times so my husband could rearrange his work)I was met with a defensive, hostile email so completely unprofessional we had to double check to make sure it came from Michelle the owner! Basically telling me nothing but more excuses on why she doesn’t have info to share and what Covid has done to HER and the studio. All I wanted was my recital fee returned which I doubt she will do. Michelle would benefit from a class on professionalism and how to speak to her paying customers.

Update: even in her response the owner is defensive. The recital is in 3 weeks and you don’t have a location set? That’s not my problem. You still don’t have any answers. Your customers have work schedules and I’m sure other things planned as we all have lives. It would have been nice to have details for this recital that is happening in less than 3 weeks to share with my husband so he can rearrange work to see his child dance. So I apologize for thinking the dance studio owner could help ease a customers concerns and frustrations on how to properly prepare for the end of season. I spoke to our teacher regarding the inability to attend the zoom meetings and in person class on account of ever changing work schedules related to Covid and the state opening back up. Our teacher told me to follow the videos we had of the dances, she did follow them daily and my child is prepared. I also asked the teacher about hair and make up. She told me she hadn’t made the decision on the tight color, hair or makeup. In fact, your employee stated she had no information other than it would be “low key”. Every email response you’ve sent has been an attack instead of admitting there were different ways to handle the situation. You have done nothing but attack me for asking questions. I’m not your customer service department, YOU are supposed to be mine. Who else am I, your customer, supposed to go to with recital related questions when your staff doesn’t know? In your last email response to me you attacked me and called me offensive. If I’ve offended you so greatly by asking a question regarding the recital I’ve given you over $1000 for this season, you can kindly return all of my money since you seem to have such a high standard of professionalism.

We love Encore School of Dance! My daughter has danced at Encore for 11 years, and she intends to stay until she heads off to college. The Studio Owner, Office Staff, Dance Teachers, and our fantastic Company Directors focus on teaching technique and skill, but they are also like a second family to us as well. The tuition is reasonable, the building is safe and inviting. The floors are actual sprung dance floors, not concrete with a thin layer of wood laminate. Encore is a great dance studio whether for a season, through the years or as a stepping stone to a career in the Arts.
