What an incredible community of players and what an incredible set of courts. I was literally visiting for 24 hours and I’m so glad that I chose Fit Pickleball for my one session. The staff are always friends and willing to help with any pickleball (I don’t play tennis but I’m sure tennis as well) questions and needs. Michael and his employees are nop notch!

The facility is in good shape. The pickleball courts are painted with well marked lines and ample around-court space. The community that plays daily are always welcoming to new players. If you’re an advanced player, there are plenty of upper division players to have a competitive game with.

I can't give this one enough stars. If you're a pickleball player visiting San Antonio, or even a San Antonio resident, this is a fantastic place to play. They are open for play mornings and evenings during the week, and also have weekend hours. At the time of this review, the drop-in play fee is $5, but there are memberships available for regulars. The other players were welcoming, and competition was good. If you typically play in the 3.5-4.0 range, you will find good games here. They stack paddles in a winners and losers bracket so even if you are a 3.0 player, I would guess that you won't feel out of place.

If you want to play competitive pickleball in San Antonio, this is the place to be. From beginner to 4.5-5.0, and barely any wait in between the games. They have 9 courts, usually seven 4off and 4 on, and 2 challenge courts. Lots of fun and the best schedule. Play from 8:30-12, and 4-9pm for $5 a day, unless you are a member -$40/month all included. Michael Castillo, the owner/operator/head coach fitness and sports ambassador, has created a fun and dynamic racquet sport experience for all!
I first visited from out of town back in July-August and again this January and during both multi-week stays I had a fantastic experience with drop-in pickleball: welcoming players of all ages and abilities from absolute beginners to advanced with a great system to mix players and keep the play moving and courts filled. There are up to nine pickleball courts available including a separate dedicated show court, several with the flexibility to use one or more as tennis courts for instruction in addition to the four dedicated tennis academy courts on the other side of the clubhouse, bright new LED lights for nighttime play.
The clubhouse has restroom facilities and stocked coolers for refreshing drinks and snacks afterwards with limited indoor seating and a covered patio porch with pickleball on the big screen outside. Parking is adjacent to the pickleball courts in dedicated spots on a private driveway and in dedicated spots off of Windsong Drive, plus cars with spectators and parents picking up or dropping off their budding tennis prodigies sometimes linger at the side of the road on Zephyr and Windsong by the academy courts.
I observed Michael and his attentive staff giving personalized group and individual instruction for both tennis and pickleball, developing not only their level of play, but the players themselves, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Oftentimes in-between lessons coaching staff would mix in to play with students and drop-ins to really amp up the fun on the courts. Michael, as head coach is a world-class player in both sports and as a leader really brings his personable and dynamic style to the game for his students and when mixing in, a difficult but welcome challenge to the other players. All the staff are personable and accommodating with an emphasis on client and guest enjoyment in this racquet sport oasis in the middle of this Windcrest neighborhood adjacent to the Windcrest Pool.
San Antonio area residents should definitely come for a great playing experience, developing relationships with the great staff and fellow players alike. Based upon my and fellow players experiences I highly recommend
Fit High Performance Tennis Academy and I will be back the next time I am in town!

I’m a relatively new player to pickleball. I live an hour away but try to get here as much as possible. I would surely be a member if I were closer.

The place has only been open for less than a year I think. I mean the new owner took over this old place around December of last year. The improvements have never stopped. The place looks great. Everything from the bathroom remodels to the court surfaces and shade areas.

But what counts the most is the people. I’ve spent over 40 years in the Hospitality Industry. These guys ‘Get it’ Michael’s attitude is contagious. Sebastian always has a smile and a hello. I really like when the owner and coaches come out and play with us. Fun.

One day in the spring on a cloudy day there were only a handful of people. A huge rain cloud chased most away but the rain stopped. We had enough people for one court and omg Michael and Sebastian broke out the squeegees and towels and scrambled to dry the courts as if we were playing the US Open. 6 people were left and they just kept sweeping around us so we could keep playing. That spirit will make them successful for a long time.

The coaching staff is highly experienced and promotes high achievement. Each individual's ability is considered and training is aimed at developing the skills necessary to compete in tournament play. What you put into it is what you will get out of it but the opportunities are endless.

As a tennis teaching professional I can easily say that FIT Performance is run like a high performance academy. Michael ensures that the time on court is used efficiently and runs high energy practices. At every level of the game there are fundamentals that need to be taught and addressed, and Michael does this for all his groups.
As a witness of the pickleball growth across Texas, I would like to add that he has a great drop-in set up on Tuesdays that allows tons a play and a variety of opponents.
Both the tennis courts and pickle ball courts are in great condition and the clubhouse is neat and clean.

WOW! This is an awesome place to play tennis for the kids. Best academy in San Antonio. Brand new pickle ball and tennis courts. New LED lights and leagues. Definitely a sweet place.

FIT is a great place to play Pickleball, the staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful. The courts are in excellent shape and the new lighting is awesome. I first started coming here when I began playing pickleball in San Antonio and was blown away by the friendly players and management (formerly Ed and Bev). This is what really got me hooked on the game more than anything else. When new management took over, they made quite a few improvements to the facility and transformed it into an even better place to play. $5 drop in fee is a great deal for non-members. Owner will always greet you and be extremely kind and professional. One of the best places to play in town if you’re a beginner all the way to advanced. Highly recommend.

It is the best place in San Antonio. My son trained there with Michael Castillo for 5 years and he was able to get a tennis scholarship NCAA divison 1. Coaches are committed with their students and help them to grow in their game. Totally recommend it.
