As someone who’s no stranger to the weight room, I can say Gold’s Gym delivers exactly what you want: quality equipment, a motivating atmosphere, and staff who actually know their stuff. Even though I’ve been training for years, the team here is always helpful and on point—whether it’s answering questions, keeping the place running smooth, or just bringing good vibes. There’s a super nice girl (I’m terrible with names, sorry!) who deserves an award, she walked me through my InBody results like she was decoding ancient hieroglyphics

The equipment is clean, well-maintained, and there’s everything you need to hit real workouts—not just those “Instagram fitness influencer” routines. The crowd is a mix of serious lifters, dedicated regulars, and people putting in real work, which makes the environment motivating without being overwhelming.

This Golds Gym has the Gym80 line (great erg’s full ranges and tension through full ranges - and lots of different machines/movements available) as well as an overall clean/updated/ and contemporary feel to it. The team member Eric was extremely helpful and welcoming. Gold’s Gym has been awesome. Zach and Ethan are always there when I come in at night super chill guys, really attentive, and always bring good energy. The whole vibe of the gym is great, everyone’s friendly, and it’s just a good place to get a solid workout in.

They’ve got everything you need tons of machines, a big variety of dumbbells so you never have to wait on them, plenty of benches, and a whole side just for legs. Plus, lots of cardio machines too. Definitely one of my favorite gyms I’ve been to.

I’ve been coming to Gold’s for a bit now and honestly it’s one of the best gym experiences I’ve had. Alex (the assistant GM) is super cool and always makes sure members are taken care of — you can tell he really runs the place well. Ryan at the front desk always greets me with a smile and good vibes, and Serena is an awesome trainer who actually pushes you but still keeps it fun.

Update 10/25: Still going strong at Gold’s Gym Friendswood, and I couldn’t be happier. Darrell has been my personal trainer throughout, and he’s fantastic. Knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly flexible with scheduling, even on short notice. He’s helped me refine my lifting technique and build a solid foundation that I’ll carry for life. The consistency and support here are unmatched. I’m not going anywhere else.

We have been members from the beginning when this gym was bought and reopened as Gold’s. We were excited because the gym at this location before had signs of neglect. Well… here we are. They don’t maintenance the machines. There is one machine that has been broken for it seems nearly two years. Others, the foot pedal doesn’t even pull the handles far enough so you can reach them without standing up. Sad since this is a convenient location.

I joined Gold's Gym Friendswood in September of '24, after about 10 years away from the gym. Once I'd been working out again for about six months, I realized something significant. I need a partner or a trainer to keep from hitting plateaus, and/or burning out. So, I hired Reagan Greny, one of the personal trainers working here. After 48 sessions with her, I'm stronger than I've been in fifteen years, back to about 75% of my peak strength, which I reached in my mid-30s, about 25 years ago. Reagan deserves most of the credit for my recent transformation. She's dependable, thoughtful in preparation for our workouts, focused, present and mindful when we work. As is always the case with a good partner or mentor, I don't want to disappoint her. So I push myself harder than I would if I were alone. I highly recommend this gym to anyone, and whether you're an experienced gym rat like me or a beginner, hiring a great trainer like Reagan will help you make bigger/better gains.

Gold’s Gym has really gone downhill. They charge way too much for what they offer now. Many of the machines are constantly out of order, and they don’t seem to make repairs in a timely manner. The bathrooms often smell bad, and the overall cleanliness has taken a hit. During peak hours, it’s so overcrowded that you can’t get a proper workout in — you have to factor in an extra 45 minutes just waiting for equipment. It used to be a good gym, but now it feels neglected and not worth the price.

This gym has a large variety of high-quality machines. As a member, my gym going experience was 5 stars!! Their monthly membership is definitely worth the space they offer. Giving 3 stars instead of my initial 5 because I did unfortunately face a lot of delay when requesting a cancellation, was still being charged and that took a couple months of insisting to stop. Edit 6/14/24- (2 Months in as a new member)There needs to be some focus on maintaining the cleanliness of the men's locker room/restroom. The sanitation wipe stations are constantly empty, yet you always see the front desk socializing with guests or friends. Please get these addressed ASAP.........

Recently joined. Very clean and nice layout. Staff up front is friendly and attentive. I love that the light is dimmed and they use air fresheners throughout the front of the gym. They place them inside the landscaping and it keeps the gym smelling fresh. People who come here are more considerate with their un racking of weights than other places I go.

Equipment is great but all the golds in San Antonio had better amenities such as sauna, pool, and offered more variety of group classes with more times. I ultimately canceled because I didn’t want to pay for a gym that didn’t have a sauna and its very frustrating wanting to weigh myself and I have to go to the front desk staff to take out their portable scale and lots of times I’d be waiting there forever for someone to show up. I’ve asked why they didn’t just leave it out and they said because they didn’t want people using it barefoot, which could easily be solved by adding a sign instead of making it an inconvenience to the customers. Again, equipment is nice but I missed other basic amenities you would expect most gyms to have.

They got me in with the $1 first month promotion, less than a week later billed me $60 for a $40 dollar program, then did the same thing a month later, $60 bucks. I don't mind paying if you agree to the price you quote but the gym is lack luster, does not have much equipment and other than location and a name has nothing going for it. I would suggest Lifetime or even Fitness connection due to the dishonesty and inability to easily cancel, this is the trailer park of gyms, avoid.

I love this gym! It definitely feels catered to weightlifting in general but still has all the equipment to accommodate a more cardio focused work out if that's your thing. Their equipment is better than most others around in my opinion. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The prices of the supplements and blender bottles they carry aren't bad. The clothing is very expensive, but of course you don't have to buy it. All in all I'm a pretty big fan of this place.

Equipment is very cheap. Dark and hard to see. Employees are immature and do not make members follow rules. Lots of teens and they tend to be rude are well. Not a good gym in general

Been going here for a couple months; excellent equipment, staff is friendly, and the locker rooms are clean. The evening group classes are well instructed and encouraging for newcomers. I like the music and overall feel of the setup.

I recently cancelled my gym membership with Lifetime because I just couldn’t get myself to go. I’ve been pumping myself up to start working out again and finally decided to join Golds gym. I went in and got a tour of the facility, clean, lots of equipment, good size and not super busy. Wish it had a Sauna though… I haven’t worked out yet but I did sign up. I will update this review after going for a workout, but so far the experience has been positive. Price is also a plus, my last gym was $150 a month, so at 1/3 of that price, it is definitely a plus.

My boyfriend and I came in for a day pass and will definitely return anytime we’re in the area! The gym is very clean, equipment all looks brand new, and there are so many options! The owner and staff were very welcoming and friendly, we appreciate being able to use the gym!

Nice gym and great set up but membership could use adjusting. Had to have surgery and was told that I had to pay to pause my membership and if recovery took longer then expected then your paying each month it’s paused as well. Policy needs to be looked at. Topic was not gone over at sign up.

Edit 3/12/203- the management team is phenomenal and reached out immediately to fix the error and find a solution to help me out. 10/10 customer service appreciate both Alex and Matthew.

Been working out here for about a couple months now and overall am extremely happy with the facility. I love the 4 squat racks loaded with rubber plates and additionally, people don't look at me weird when I do a power clean and drop the weight. (That's what they're built for people). The dumbbells up to 180 are fantastic, I just wish they had 110lb dumbbells so I can work past a plateau I've hit on shoulder presses. The staff is friendly, the place is always clean, and the everyone I've met here has been nice. Keep up the good work golds!

Went today and was pleasantly surprised. Between the amazing customer service, vibes and machines I absolutely loved it!! I’m not a super weight lifter but I still felt comfortable in the environment. Loved that they had somebody cleaning up the entire 2hrs I was there. Most importantly the layout of the gym is GREAT!

Signed up before leaving. Very excited to start!

Back in town for the holidays and needed a place to workout for a few days. Saw a Gold’s opened up in the area and decided to check it out. I thought my home Gold’s was nice… but this location exceeds it in possibly every category. Amazing facility, equipment, and staff!

Beautiful facility! Incredible how much work was put into remodeling this location. All equipment is brand new & spaced out nicely. Also the membership is a very modest fee for what you ultimately get. You can tell they put a lot of effort into keeping this place spotless at all times, makes for an amazing experience every time 💯💪🏽

Nobody wants to hear club music full blast.. we all have our own headphones.

I feel like I’m 18 again with 4 sub woofers in my trunk.

I use this to start my day to get in a good state of mind, nobody needs to hear some garbage club music over our headphones.

Good luck listening to a book or answering an important phone call.

If this doesn’t change I’ll definitely be switching gyms, totally unacceptable.

I love it here. I’d honestly consider myself more of a novice lifter and even though you can tell a ton of the members are very experienced lifters I still feel super comfortable here. The price of the membership and the quality of equipment is amazing. I’ve been looking for a new gym to join and I am am happy this one is here now!

I have been going to fitness connection for 14 years and have been to numerous other gyms in Houston and Golds Gym just knocked it out the park with this. Literally the best gym in Houston I’ve found a new home for sure!

This gym has a great layout and I really love the functional area where I have room to stretch and do exercises like lunges/jumps without being in the middle of everyone. It has equipment not usually seen at commercial gyms such as the pit shark belt squat & vertical leg press machine. I had some membership issues coming from another Golds location, but assistant general manager, Alex, was very helpful regarding my unique situation. Crew members are on the floor cleaning / picking up weights and all very inviting! I have no complaints about the music unlike many of the reviews and can hear my personal music through my AirPods just fine! Only thing I wish it had is a sauna and paper towels in restroom. Overall great gym & gym community developing! I did not take best pics of the gym but will attach them anyways
