Been here for about 3-4 years and every year the AC doesn’t work during the summer or better yet the roof is not insulated to protect against heat. I’ve suggested they buy commercial oscillating fans and they completely ignore that part of my email complaint (fans would do wonders) but as much as I love this place I’m going to have to call it quits since the issue is NEVER RESOLVED

I've been a member of Golds gym Harlingen about 12 years now & I'm very satisfied. New gyms have opened up in the area however Iike my Gym & will remain here; specially with the recent new equipment added. The gym has a great community atmosphere, with friendly staff (always greeting as I enter & exit). I also appreciate the communication that manager Chris and Diana have, via email, with any updates related to my account in a timely manner & their willingnes to help when i have any questions. The variety of classes available & Sauna is also a plus, and I enjoy the different options available. 🤗 Im very happy at my Golds Gym Harlingen

I just wanna say that Golds has always been home for me . It was the first gym I joined when I started my fitness journey and although I've relocated they have been there to help my family. Recently Diana and Chris who have helped me throughout the time I was there accommodated my daughter with a summer membership with no hassles. I highly recommend Golds gym! This gym made me understand that not all Golds Gyms have the same standards. My regular gym in north Austin is clean and well maintained.

This location was dirty with alot of equipment in disrepair. Used towels littered the floor. Every towel dispenser was empty so equipment was not being wiped down. Dumbel rack was disorganized and had to hunt for tge right matching pair. At least it was better than the hotel gym.

I’m in town from San Antonio every other week, this Gold’s is the closest thing to a real gym near my hotel. The positive is the front desk personnel, the long haired dude in particular is great. The negative list is much longer unfortunately. I’ve seen broken equipment sit in disrepair for 6 months and longer. The sauna is never working more than an hour or two at a time. It looks and smells dirty, even for a gym. Need to put an end to these ego lifter who can raise the weight on the cable machine, but are too weak to set the weights back down. If you have another option I would suggest taking it, but this place will work in a pinch.

I was a previous long time member of one of the Gold’s Gym corporate locations and unfortunately parted ways due to unsatisfactory customer service and post-covid interruptions in the quality/types of amenities offered. With a job change bringing Me into close vicinity of a franchise location with all of the desired amenities, I decided to go in and just get some information. I was pleasantly surprised by Amanda Chavez at the Harlingen location and knew I needed to jump back on board. I know I won’t regret it. Really excellent Team. Thank You Gold’s.

The Sauna only works 50% of the time, the steam room has been completely broken for over a year and never fixed, the jacuzzis are always dirty. They charge an annual fee of $75 that I have no idea where that money actually goes cause they never fix things or get new equipment. Plus the mall doesn’t pay the light bill like once a month or every other month and the gym will have no power for 2-3 days. As soon as my contract is done best believe I’m going to another gym

It used to be great and the kept it clean, but now it's one day no running water, the ceiling leaking, now no electricity?! The past couple weeks have been just going down hill. I've noticed a big decline in cleanliness also. Idk what's going on but they need to get it together! We pay and count on this place!!! Great gym, but terrible customer service. I’m new in town and decided to try out this gym. I signed up for the week pass. They DID NOT explain to me I had to come 7 Days straight for the pass. I had 2 days left over for the following week and the manager Chris told me there’s nothing I can do. It was either I pay the day pass or I can exit the building.
I paid for the day pass and bought a drink.

Next day, today. I come back to sign up for another day pass. I talked to Chris asking if there is anything that he can do. He said absolutely not, is just business. For someone to manage a business keeping a paying customer should be a priority. I wanted to leave and go to the other gym but I was already there so might as well workout.
They CHARGED me the day pass and 15 minutes into my workout some kid name
Matthew came up to me saying I didn’t pay. I show him my receipt on my phone and I told him “I already paid, I’m not going to get charged again.”

10 minutes goes by he then goes to Chris. Chris was extremely unprofessional and nervous. Interrupts my workout saying “This is not a free gym, you need to pay”. I already paid, so I’m confused. I try to explain to him the situation and he kept interrupting every word. He then goes to say that I cursed out the kid Matt.

This guy Chris is putting a bad taste on Gold Gym. This is my first time trying out Gold Gym, but I knew I should’ve walked away when I saw the P.T Staff. They dress unprofessional and they’re out of shape.

Customer Service skills where terrible. He didn’t care for my concerns.

For the price you’re better off going
to another gym. There’s not that much equipment and the space gets crowded.

Hours aren't convenient but it's a decent gym with nice amenities. Biggest complaint is broken equipment. Elliptical trainers I use have been broken for years, but not to worry...they're working on it lol. Staff couldn't care less and might have been too busy training new people to play solitaire and ignore you as you enter. Gold's standards don't really mean anything here, it's just a name.

I recently returned to Gold's gym after being off for a year. It's nice to get back in the game once again. Staff is friendly, and if I bring any safety issues up, it's taken care of by the next day. I would have given them 5 stars but at no fault of them it's some gym members take up two to three work out stations at one time by leaving their towels water bottles or cellphones on the equipment so three members can take up nine different stations. Management needs to put a stop to this.. Update December 1, 2023, been over three years, and the steamroom is still not working, and the sauna doesn't get hot. Staff are fantastic, weekend staff needs training. The owner seems like he or she doesn't want to invest in the gym

I joined the Body Pump class at Gold’s Gym in Harlingen three months ago and have had an amazing experience overall. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. Chris took the time to provide me with a tour of the gym and answered all my questions. Heidi the Body Pump instructor, is very energetic, motivating and takes time to explain the choreography to the clients. She’s fun and makes the class super exciting. She challenges the clients and changes the choreography every two to three months to keep the class interesting. I have seen much improvement in my physique, strength and endurance. I highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to meet their fitness goals.

My favorite thing about this gym is the personnel & location. The people who work here are amazing and are always helpful. I’ve been coming here for years. We need more space as there are more members joining but a small space for ppl to workout. Also the lights and ac are constantly broken or there is leaks in the ceiling. Overall clean and organized gym with good equipment and decent price since it’s not a corporate location. Group classes are extremely limited and instructors could definitely use having better attitudes toward newcomers, particularly Heidi who teaches Body Pump T/Th/Sat. I comprehend the sanitation routine has been more demanding due to the pandemic but the people in the class exercise horrible manners with sharing sanitation spray and blame it on those who have things to do after class and don’t get to clean their equipment all the time. This isn’t the beginning of the pandemic. Hand sanitizer liquid shouldn’t be overpriced anymore. Allow more than one bottle per classroom and stop singling people out for not doing it once. Feels like catty schoolgirl behavior instead of a gym environment. There’s ways to be kind and respectful. Too bad that can’t be taught at a gym.

Today I tried checking in at the Harlingen Tx location and was told I couldn’t workout unless I purchased a $10 pass. What kind of customer service is this? Now during COVID, I refuse to go in and they said to email the manager about cancelling. It did it that day and have not yet received a confirmation that my membership has been cancelled. Always come here when visiting from San Antonio. This time was told no travel pass due to COVID but said I could pay $10 to workout. I told him no thank you and proceeded to leave. He then tells me to drive to McAllen and they will honor my service. Really? That is not how you treat long term Golds Gym customers. I needed a day pass because I travel for work. I called in once for a price and a second time to ask if the accept cash. The rep told me a mask was required which is fine. I arrived and they told me I needed long gloves and a small towel in order to enter the gym. I'm going to be in the area for a while and wanted to use a guest pass to see how the gym was first. I signed up, got the email confirmation and went to the gym with the email. Once they realized I was out of town, was turned away for being out of town and told during the signup they ask for your address, well they don't, only a zipcode. During further discussion, asked what the day rate was, and also was there any type of military discounts for it and was told the day rate and no, I'm sorry we don't offer any military discounts, which is what it is.

Usually I don't write reviews, but the 3 day pass is VERY MISLEADING. If you only want locals to sign up for the pass, then ensure that's specified for the 3 day pass.

They told me I’d have to buy a guest pass. $16 a day or $35 for seven days. Never offered to tour me around or look at a membership . I bought the week pass in the moment as I’ve been a Golds fan. I responded to the text saying was disappointed in the misleading advertising. They assured me I should have gotten my free trial. Said they’d follow up with the club and get back to me. That was three days ago. No word from anyone. I won’t be signing up at Golds anywhere after this. The gym itself is well equipped and not overly busy. Seems nice. Just won’t be goin there!!

The equipment is old, and there is no available clean water. Sometimes the machines are fixed quickly , but other times a cable machine could be out of order as much as a week or more. I don't understand how they don't offer a month to month option as far as billing options. I travel the country often and other Golds gyms offer $24.99 monthly rates which includes gym amenities. Here in Harlingen everything comes with an extra charge.

I loved the classes they have especially the Zumba with Homer... by far the best instructor you have there HUGE props to him and if you pay him he definitely needs a raise... too bad it just wasn't affordable for me. I am a single parent with a mortgage and a car pymnt. Typical Golds gym, which as a former pro athlete, Im not a fan... ALWAYS BUSY, Limited equipment, random dudes in speedos and others who occupy equipment for 30 minutes to play on their phones, and staff wont do anything about it... Manager is also constantly on his phone, staff blows off questions like you're an idiot for asking, and then they want 40 bucks a month with 100 down and an annual fee of 39.99.... You're better off going to one of the free parks in the area... all in all, it was the behavior of staff overall atmosphere that I was not impressed with.

Facility has everything for great workouts.
Very clean and a lot of space.

Great customer service! Great GGX classes. The instructors go out of their way to make you feel welcome and part of the team. They know the regulars and beginners and take the time to go over things with the beginners. They take the time to teach all levels and leave you feeling included and like you worked hard. Very encouraging. I wouldn't go to any other gym.

Facility and staff are great. Don't like their membership policy. They increased my membership after my contract expired. Now I have to sign up for another two year contract If I want the same price I had.
