Between the inflated rates, and hours that aren’t equal to the sister gym? This gym is truly one of the worst in Laredo.
The San Isidro location is in serious need of attention. The equipment upstairs and in women’s golds is mostly broken and rusted. Literal holes in walls. Cardio equipment that doesn’t work. and hasn’t in months that I’ve been a member. And it’s not a true golds gym. You cannot travel with ease with your pass unless you go to the owners other gyms in the valley.
I signed up for this gym due to location but it isn’t worth it.
I hope the owners reflect on what needs to taken care of, because they sure know how to pay attention to increasing prices yearly.

I have been a fan of the Gold's Gyms, personal has been very helpful and friendly. However I recently visited the women's area of this gym , and I am not planning on going back soon, at least to this area. It was messy, smelled, weigths and matts felt old and dirty.
Please pay attention to it! I like the brand a lot!! I hate the feeling of not wanting to go back.

I really like the size of this place. Not as busy as a crunch at peak hours. So your workout doesn’t take 2+ hours. I would only have to say is I wish the men’s locker room was bigger and they need to have more lockers that you can put your own lock on. Other than that. A- overall

After visiting different gyms around Laredo, I decided on Golds Gym North Central. This gym is clean, has all of the necessary equipment, and is very well laid out. I don’t have to worry about walking across the entire gym to be able to combine exercises like I would at other gyms. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the facility is very clean. This gym tries to scam you with their hidden contract policies. Do not sign a membership with them, they try to do everything in their power to get you to sign these contracts but they do not share all the information with you. The culture is toxic and their customer service is terrible.

My contract terms ended with them but they still continued charging me a tremendous amount of money. Despite me verifying that my contract would not renew automatically.

These individuals lie to you so they can get as much money as possible.

I warn you and implore you to not sign a membership with them.

There are better gyms out there with better customer service. Gyms that are more affordable and have no hidden fees and healthier gym cultures.

These people will just try to scam you. The general manager has terrible Customer service. Shouts on the phone after he's the one that's messed up in running this business.

Don't sign up for this gym. Go somewhere friendlier and more affordable.

I used to come here 6 years ago…
Paid for a week more than I pay for a month at LA fitness just to find out maintenance hasn’t been done probably since COVID. I’m not even finishing my week.
Broken lockers, bath curtains damaged, old equipment, painting faded in a lot of areas, a lot of signs saying areas were closed due to COVID (I wonder when was the last time they even updated any of this signs), yoga studio have some parts broken and it was poorly cleaned.
Even the area where shakes and supplements are displayed for sale was full of dust, simply disgusting not even finishing my week.
It was sad cause I didn’t hesitate in paying for this week due to the good prestige Golds fitness have everywhere in this country but Laredo happens to be the exception.

I originally joined Gold's North Central in Laredo in 2016, and I enjoyed a
VIP membership that included classes and multiple clubs. During COVID I
took a break from the gym, like most, and tried other gyms in Laredo as
they started to re-open. I came back to Gold's Gym North Central because
I realized it's the best Gym in Laredo
The staff is friendly, the gym is neat and well organized, and the multiple
club membership is now part of your basic membership. It's close
proximity adjacent to the Park allows you to begin your workout with a
walk/run, and the fresh air and sun are also beneficial to your health.
I'm always impressed to see the owner on the gym floor either working
out or restacking weights, and he takes pride in his business. He is
approachable and always available to listen to his clients' comments and
makes immediate corrections when needed. He believes in reinvesting in
his business and replaces equipment regularly, and this makes for a
better experience and a great workout.
I give Gold's Gym North Central my highest recommendation.

For being that we spend $40+ on a membership a month, you’d think we’d have well-lit workout areas, huh?

More often than not, if you try to squeeze in a quick workout an hour or so before closing you’re greeted with portions of the gym’s lights turned off (cardio and free weights section). I legit had the lights turned off on me while on a cardio machine at a steep incline going above walking speed 10 mins before closing.

I get the workers wanna get out of there ASAP but sufficient lighting is pretty important for when you’re exercising…

They don't have an updated class schedule posted, so in the middle of your workout, during a time that says there is no class...the class instructor will kick you out. This has happened to me twice now.
Other than that, it's ok, the other guests do suck at taking care of equipment after using it, no fault of Golds on that that, staff has to work twice as hard to keep place picked up.

This is the overall best Gold's I have been to. Visited each day for a week while staying at the local Residence Inn and it is clean, well equipped, and the staff is friendly and professional.

The mens sauna sucks now,its warmer outside than inside. You walk from outside the room to inside the sauna and it's like having a cheap heater on. We all pay annual maintenance fees and expect the equipment to work adequately. Even the steam room smells likes like mold, I expect much more from a name brand gym.

Used to love and respect this gym so much. Don’t waste your time and money on them.. Service is horrible. Contracts are horrible. They charged me $200! And it’s not fair! I’m done with this gym! And don’t get me started on the service! It’s all favoritism! I’m done!! Gold Gym at least this one, they don’t make you feel like family! I’m canceling! 😡 0 stars if There was an option! 😡

Really bad installations.
Equipment in bad conditions, cardio machines old and warn out.
Weight machines always broken down.
Showers so dirty, it looks their maintenance team haven’t clean them since they were opened.
Training sessions are a problem in this location, really small, and the trainers use a lot of space for their clients. Bad bad you can’t even use the equipment because they are in the middle.
So far EXPENSIVE for customer experience, I would give them a 0 stars if this is possible.
Complaints to manager don’t get follow up.

If there was an option to give this gym 0 stars i would! It is the absolute worst experience I have encountered with any business not just gyms. My husband and I got memberships at the same time with Golds Gym and they told us they we would be paying the same amount monthly. When it came time to pay for the 1st payment, my husband got charged $10.00 more than I did. We called and they told us that we did not have the same membership, when the manager NINA told us she was putting us on the EXACT same membership plan. After that, they began charging me days in advanced. The payment is due at the start of the month, yet they would charge me days before the start of the month. You cannot advise customers that they will be charged one day, then take money out of their account days before the day stated on the contract. There were times that i needed to make payments but I was not able too because they had taken that money out days before. Now here we are a year later, and i have decided to not renew my contract and just simply get out of this high and unnecessary payment. I called months in advance to know exactly what month i was eligible to cancel my membership. My husband and I went to cancel almost two months before to assure that we would not get charged an extra month because of that thirty day period they have. Once we canceled they advised us that July of 2019 was going to be the last month we were going to get charged, but here we are August 2019 and we got charged for another month. I called the gym where they put me on hold, then told me they would be calling me back shortly. As if this was not a priority issue.
Horrible customer service.
Manager is not professional.
Expensive for the experience.
I would suggest anyone to not get a membership at this gym!!!!

Bad service. You get double charged a month and if you call no one answers. My trainer left without a warning and I saw him later at a random place and he was like "oh yeah I'll set you up with someone to finish" never did. They say two free months but you still have to pay for a year. So if you only want it for a year then you dont get it the two free months. But equipment was always clean. Stuff just stand at the front and talk to each other so it you need them go up to the desk and clear your throat or they will ignore you.

A couple of weeks ago, I sent an email to the Business Manager (Ruben), and I have received NO ANSWER. My wife and I are new in Laredo and we belong to the SILVERSNEAKERS program. It appears that we can join several gyms in Laredo, including the Gold's Gym on Del Mar, but we were told that we cannot join the Gold's Gym in San Isidro through our SILVERSNEAKERS program. This seems to me very illogical being that they are the same company and owned by the same family. If we do not receive an answer, we will most likely go to ANYTIME FITNESS. The Gold's Gym on San Isidro is most convenient for us. I hope that the owners see this commentary! What can we do to be able to exercise at the Gold's Gym on San Isidro through our SILVERSNEAKERS program?

I've never thought I'd be a Golds Girl but here I am four years later, 3 years of GoldsFit and over 30lbs lost. My favorite part about this location is everyone treats you like family. The staff is always welcoming and the classes put you to work. Stop by and try a Goldsfit class. You will love it!

Lady’s restrooms upstairs is always lock, door veneer isn’t good, and calling staff to open doesn’t help cause they take 20 min to go open so we gotta go downstairs to use restroom... here’s when i ask my self if it’s worth enough to pay.

I've been a Gold's Gym member for several years now and was initially very pleased with the facility overall. However, over the past year or so I've noticed a sharp decline in the quality of different aspects of the gym. Equipment (including water fountains, soap/sanitizer dispensers) is constantly "out of order" and will remain out of order for more than just a few days. Cleanliness has quite literally become unheard of at the gym. I've noticed many areas with dust and spider-webs accumulating and stains and spills on equipment/machines.
The staff won't always be prompt at attending you when you step up to the front desk and often cannot provide the assistance needed. Perhaps, a little off topic but it might be a good idea if they wore gloves when preparing supplements and shakes. Just a suggestion.
Membership and annual maintenance fees are not exactly cheap. I think for what it costs to be a Gold's Gym member, we can at least be provided with a clean facility, friendly & knowledgeable staff and maybe some cold water from the water fountains.

I'm a frequent gym go-er, have been for about 6 years now. I've been a member of Rock--attended all three of their gyms, and I've attended countless of other gyms as a guest here and out of town. Golds has a reputation of being this upscale gym, but Golds North has been the worst gym I've ever been to simply because their management is so poor. My main complaints here are in the gym maintenance and cleanliness and in their poor communication. I'm on my second year as a member, and I go 4-5x a week, no less than 3 days ever, so I'm speaking out of experience.

The gym went about 9 months without a working AC unit in their studio, their restrooms are poorly maintained and cleaned. Their soap dispensers, tanning room, also went months before someone fixed them. At this point, there are about 3 treadmills that don't work that have been that way for at least 3 weeks. In the women's gym, there is an elliptical machine that has gone without repair for a month. It is a frequent and constant thing. On top of our monthly membership (not cheap considering everything is an add on), we pay a yearly maintenance fee--apparently it goes no where. It's disappointing, and they get away with it because they have the Golds name and because it's the nearest gym in the area.

By far, their customer service surpass my expectations!! Everytime I walk in the gym, I'm greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile. The gym is super clean and staff is always tentative in checking to see if anything is needed. Whenever I have a question I always feel comfortable in asking their staff knowing that I will be given the proper attention and great service. Truly a great gym!!
