This has been THE WORST EXPERIENCE from a commercial gym. I was told that the GM Darion was supposed to call me about waving a late fee (because I lost my debit card) I literally did not have a card to give them. I notified the gym multiple times. They kept saying “our GM will call” “our GM is busy right now” this was over the span of a month! You can tell this gym is money hungry.

I was made a lot of false promises in regards to canceling my membership. This gym locks you in with the contract crap. Pay attention to what you’re signing up for because the staff and GM don’t care about helping you.

Also, Goodluck with trying to get someone on the phone from the gym. Either they don’t answer or your put on hold for an extended period of time.

I still have my membership but I won’t be coming. Horrible gym.

Today I was disappointed, the girl who was cleaning the gym during the day was fired, during the time I was observing she was the one who best maintained this gym that is already deteriorated and old, since they are taking measures, could they also unclog the toilet in the men's bathroom that has been like this for months!!!! Because to deduct our money, that is what they are in charge of!! One less member, boy!!

very unhappy with this location. i’ve been a member for over a year now & everything was fine up until recently when i was getting incorrect charges to my card. i called multiple times and went up there and finally cancelled my membership and im still getting charged late fees, double charges, etc… this place is all about money & not willing to help or give me information as to why. 0/10 recommend

The equipment here is very outdated, and the gym overall does not support serious bodybuilding or strength training. It feels more geared toward beginners and an older crowd rather than those looking for a complete, modern fitness experience.

Unfortunately, the high membership cost isn’t justified by the facilities. It seems this location is only staying afloat because there aren’t many alternatives in the surrounding area.

Gold’s Gym has a strong name in the fitness community, but this location is not living up to that reputation.

This is the only golds I have been into that is constantly dirty, all the other locations I’ve been into they constantly have employees cleaning. There is always a toilet broken and dirt etc everywhere throughout the facility. This owner doesn’t want to staff this place properly to run correctly, too cheap to fix the pool which would be a huge benefit over the other gyms. Need to update equipment and keep it working…the GM tries to state there is a cleaner Daily, I have been coming for the past 2 years every morning when they open and I have never seen a cleaner, if there was a daily cleaner then there wouldn’t be dirt and dust built up on equipment and floor around the machines. Folks will not confront you at the desk due to many reasons!

When Gold’s Gym Waxahachie first opened up years ago it was very nice and always well maintained. This location had many amenities when it first opened up. Here we are in the tail end of 2024 and NOTHING has been upgraded and several amenities have now been discontinued. Machines are constantly breaking due to wear and tear from being old and not well maintained. This location has gone downhill rapidly in the past 4-5 years. The gym staff are okay, customer service wise but you can definitely tell that the employees who have been here a long time show favoritism to certain customers. The only reason I have my membership is because Waxahachie doesn’t have another large gym but hopefully a LA Fitness will open up down here and I will definitely be canceling my membership. If it comes to it I’ll just have to sign up at EOS in Lancaster. It’s a shame because Golds Gym used to mean something and now this gym has become a social gathering club. I will post pictures shortly

Update: 12/03/2024
I have since talked to the manager at Golds Gym, and he has reached out to corporate to help with updating equipment and so forth. Hopefully they will do something before another commercial gym comes to Waxahachie as I’m sure if that happens then a lot of gym goers will go to the new gym. I’m keeping the review at a one star until new equipment comes in and/or some upgrades start happening.

Update: 09/11/2025
Equipment is still breaking down almost every other week, specifically the machine shoulder press and hip abductor machine. When I go train in the mornings whoever is at the front desk is usually always on her phone. When I left today, a group of associates were standing at the front desk chatting it up and didn't say anything as I left (poor customer service in my opinion). This is a daily problem I have noticed, the only associate who seems to do his job and is great at customer service is Paris. I come to this gym because it's the only gym in Waxahachie that is reasonably priced and I can train heavy. But as soon a legit competitor comes into town I will be leaving and I know several other members who will be following suite. Darion is a nice GM but perhaps he needs a better team with him and/or support from corporate. Really wish this gym got a makeover like how Darion and I talked about what he wants, this is Gold's Gym.

I tried to cancel my membership. But you needed to show up in person is what I was told. Only the manager could cancel. So I went on for another year of paying these without going to the gym because I’m simply busy. However, they shouldn’t have been able to still charge my card it expired and I got a new card. In one day they tried to run my card about 15 times. (for $30, it’s insane. They’re like vultures) I’m assuming they finagle the numbers on my card, how they have the entirety of my card number is beyond me. I didn’t think they were supposed to, but they did and they changed the expiration date and starting taking money out of my account again!
Finally, I spoke to someone at the gym. They told me how to cancel the membership online I went through the process have a copy of the email but yet they still keep blowing up my phone. I had to cancel the card and get an entirely new number. This has been going on for six months now I have a collection agency calling me. Gold’s gym needs to get it together! Before I get a lawyer!

For the most part the gym is fine. My biggest complaint is I like to go in the afternoon, and it is just too warm to do cardio. I looked at the wall that has a temperature gauge. It was 76.5° at 12:30 in the afternoon. The temperature is fine if I go in the morning, I just can’t always make it there in the morning.

Have been a member for many years & have always been highly dissatisfied with this location. Locker room areas are atrocious. DIRTY. Equipment is ALWAYS out of order or broken/worn beyond use. The pool at this location has been closed since COVID & Is now used as storage. Paper towel machines ALWAYS empty, which means machines are not getting cleaned between use. It does not matter how often you bring attention to management, nothing changes. Additionally, management is impossible to make contact with. Email, phone, in person with no return contact. trust the reviews.

This gym is a BIG disappointment. I don’t even know how it can still be considered a Gold’s Gym. Equipment is broken, locker rooms are SO dirty and nasty. Squat racks with no bars and no clips. Broken machines and equipment not maintained. Paper towel machines ALWAYS empty, which means machines are are not getting cleaned between use…
which means diseases are spreading. This gym is gross and I hope that it gets new management soon! It needs a major overhaul!

Called January to cancel my son's membership, which on the 15th of February should have been. Got charged today and now they're saying on the 10th of March. This is way I'd rather drive 20-25 to EOS in Desoto instead of 5 minutes to gold's gym in Waxahachie. Besides EOS having MORE working equipment, MORE room even if it's crowded, MORE up to date workout equipment, 30$-35$ cheaper per month, MORE workout areas (even an outside workout area). Just go check them out for yourself. This is not the only time I've been through this with them, but like a dumb a55, I gave them two opportunities with this 3rd being the absolute last. I'm hoping EOS comes to Waxahachie and I'll definitely be encouraging them to.

Classes have been miserable. It’s freezing in the GGX room and you have to wear layers to even take a class in there. They try to keep the door open into the other rooms but that just makes the other classes miserable. The local management and coaches have been very apologetic, but as much as we pay you’d think the problem would have been remedied by now. It’s been over a month!

Don't work out here unless you would like to be robbed. 4 out of 5 of the stair machines are always broken, they're a terrible business. I used to love Golds, they're greedy and over charge. Moved to Waxahachie a yr ago, joined Gold's gym on my Medicare plan. Was overweight 242 lbs, doctors advising I needed knee surgery, A1C was high....Used a personal trainer.....weight down to 212lb. A1C normal, no pain in knees, blood pressure normal.....Management and staff did a great job, grateful for their help....

Been a member for a little over a year and workout in the morning at 5am. This place needs better staff or a manager that opens. Atleast twice a month no one shows to open and it is a revolving door as far as employees. They never offer money off your monthly bill for the time wasted sitting in the parking lot waiting on their employees to wake up and come to work.

Make sure you read the policy. They require a 30 days notice before you can cancel your subscription. I was not aware of this so when I cancelled my membership, I didn’t know I would be charged an extra fee and not be notified about it and then to top it off. They sent that fee to a collection agency which is now trying to hit my credit for a fee I didn’t know anything about, on a payment I didn’t know I even had, for a month of gym membership I didn’t want. So beware of that 30 days notice!! They will try to destroy your life. I will never come to gym again for any reason. And this particular gym does not have enough squat racks, benches, or literally anything for that matter. They have nothing for abs. All of the machines are very low quality. Trying to work out from 3:30 PM to 7 PM is impossible. So many kids in there hanging out. Most people that go here just sit there and occupy space on machines and don’t actually work out. One of the worst gyms I have ever gone to. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

I have called and emailed this gym literally 10 times to cancel my membership and they are still charging me. When I signed up I told the kid I lived out of state and would only need to membership for a couple weeks. Signed up and he said to call in and cancel at the 30 day mark. I did that and whoever I spoke with said it was taken care of. I get emails saying my balance is past due. I reply to those AGAIN ASKING TO CANCEL and no answer. I called, spoke to Hayden, who gave me Darion's company email. I have emailed 4 times WITH NO RESPONSE. I NEED THIS MEMBERSHIP CANCELLED. I have attached just one of the many emails I have sent.

I am adding an addition to this review. ONLY after making this review did I received an automated email stating that my membership had been cancelled. They did not backdate any charges, though I have email proof and recorded phone conversations dating back months showing I have been trying to cancel. This gym could not even bother to send an email from an actual person. I do find it interesting and telling of this business that it took a public review for them to take action. Here is my email response to them below. I am waiting to receive a response from an actual person. We shall see but I doubt it will happen. Great business model.

For many years, I have come to Waxahachie to visit my family. I grew up here and I have loved Golds and promoted it for many years. When my husband and I came to visit for the week, we were so excited to buy a week pass and spend all week here. When we arrived, the front desk was very cold and unwelcoming. They let us know it would be $16 per day each. Over 100$ to work out for three days? I will never return unfortunately.

Pretty nice gym. Unfortunately we are technically out of towners as my wife’s folks live here and we like to visit. Disappointed that they have taken the humanity out of everything. Back in the day it was pretty common to need a guest spot at the gym and now this gym unfortunately has strongly discouraged visitors with exorbitant day pass prices. Pretty silly but I guess it’s just a sign of the times. The ladies up front are pretty unpleasant as well. Thank the Lord we have better gyms back home, just sad to see the change for the worse. Also the manager should take a closer look at maintaining some of the equipment, but that’s neither here nor there

Cons: Ac is broken in the worst part of summer with no estimate on when it will be even looked at, machinery is broken nonstop, it's overpriced, limited amount of things/events available, no basketball court, and no pool.

I like this gym. Their sauna is great. Their room where the classroom was at is a great place to workout if you’re an introvert.

The cons of this: their bathroom. I can’t go to the restroom and feel disgusted by the toilets not being clean. Luckily I live by but please have your restroom clean this is like the second time o mentioned to the front office for the past couple of months I been coming. Please have your staff clean the restroom when needed.

Before I moved here I was at planet fitness and their restroom is usually clean when I need to go I didn’t know they had a pool as I just learn about it. It’ll be nice to have it opened up.

I was a member for 6 years until I caught some weirdo pointing his phone at me in the bathroom. Which he denied doing while he was doing it.

He said to me:"Go tell the manager if you think that's what I was doing". I told him that I was going to report the incident to the manager and that I was going to file a report at which time he took off running to the front desk.

When I got to the desk he was yelling incoherently at the employee who was working there.
She said to him I don't know what you're talking about. I then told her that he was pointing his phone at me in the bathroom and I wanted to document it in case this freak does it again.

Then I went to the Gold's Gym website and saw that they were pushing the racist BLM and DEI nonsense and cancelled my membership.

If you work in law enforcement like I did just realize this company does not support you.

If you are looking for a gym that steals your money with double billing without explanation.
That they always tell you "that's strange" "the manager will contact you" and he never does This is your Gym, look no further!

It's disgusting to see how so many people are robbed and don't realize it until they check their bills.
You talk to the staff to demand an explanation, even though you consulted everything in detail and each time they gave you more incongruous answers such as "it's not that they won't charge you next month." And guess, exactly if they charge you.🙃

And I don't want an email and false apologies, I, like everyone else, want them to be honest with their invoices and really solve the problems.

If there was a star below 1- I’d choose that. This gym is a scam. You’d be better off getting your exercise running far away from this gym. I went in to cancel my membership a year and a half ago- filled out the paperwork, and verbally was told it was complete. I have been charged every month since. If you call, they tell you the manager will call you back and never does. They make it a point to tell you if they can’t find the paperwork then you won’t receive a refund. I’m sure as soon as you fill out the paperwork, they probably just shred it. This gym is a scam, stay far far away from it unless you enjoy getting screwed over and taken advantage of!

i’ve been a member at this gym for awhile now. and two kids locked my stuff in a locker with 2 other dudes stuff. the 2 dudes thought i tried stealing their stuff when i just wanted my stuff. and tonight i got trespassed for quite literally doing absolutely nothing. very poor management team, very poor communication. and the team member was extremely rude and aggressive. other than that the gym has good equipment.

I was charged 5 times out of the blue. I cancelled my membership back in September to suddenly be charged 5 times over December and January. When I noticed the charges I attempted to contact the gym and was told it was “strange” and that they would leave a note for the manager to take a look and call me back. After two attempted calls, I went in person to get it resolved as I was still getting charged daily. The lady at the front was nice and trying to be helpful, but ultimately had to… you guessed it… leave a note for the manager to contact me the following Monday. While at the gym, I filled out another cancellation form and had my card deleted. Monday came and went without a call. I called again on Wednesday asking for a manager and for the fourth time explained my situation to be told they would have to look into it and get back to me. As a manager who works in customer service, this is some of the worst I’ve ever seen. No apology or even an explanation for why I was charged 5 times after 3 months of cancellation. Terrible.

I will give it 5 but im not. First, i was paying $30 now out of nowhere im getting billed $37 im like half of their cardio machines dont work they need more leg extension machines half of their treadmills and stairmaster dont work i had to hop to like 7 different treadmills to find a good one .
Also they only have one leg extension and abduction machine they have more chest and back Equipment. They need to add another leg extension or two and one more abduction machine i see people waiting around for those two machines like hawks might as well just add a number ticket and wait for your number to be called like at the DPS office. 😅 overall its a nice gym always clean.

Nice facility but WATCH OUT!

Extremely disappointed with Gold's Gym in Waxahachie. My company has been billed for over six months for an employee who left for the Army, despite me calling to inform them that the charges were unauthorized. Customer service has been unresponsive to resolving this issue. It's unacceptable and unprofessional to continue charging us for a service that is clearly not being used. I hope this review serves as a warning to others, and I expect an immediate refund or credit for the charges.

I get that renewal is on the 25th, but when the payment doesn't go through at midnight, why is it necessary to charge me a $40 late fee when I try to pay it that same day. Front desk lady was a bit frustrated
Probably because it was Sunday but
There was a problem with my membership card she couldn't explain it she said the my membership was cancelled because it was sold to Planet fitness that made zero sence to me.
I emailed Golds Gym the next day on Monday no response and believe it or I also called and no one pick.up the phone and it just unbelievable maybe their whole system was down.

Really not a bad gym but wish they would utilize the space better as well as organize the machines around the gym that make more sense… hate that you have to go from one side to the other when you’re working out your legs for instance. Also, I’ve been here for almost a year and the amount of cardio machines is a little much (specifically elliptical machines…many are not used) and wish they would clear some of those out and have a designated open area for mats/stretching instead of the small spaces in the back corners by the locker rooms (I know they have the room in the front but usually during the week they hold classes in there). Also, I feel like the last month they’ve kept the AC temp higher bc it’s been super toasty in there and unfortunately when you walk in you can smell the BO. Pls turn the AC down

I have been a member of this gym for years now and I am now counting the days until my membership is over. They have gone from having a kids area to none and now they have elected to not allow anyone 14 years and younger in the building. So as a a single father I am not allowed to have my child with me even if he doesn't touch a thing. So to workout I'm supposed to leave my child unattended at home or in the vehicle? Great policies...

Staff at this place have always been amazing but with Management it's no wonder why it's a constant string of people leaving.

Front staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Gym is a decent size. They closed the pool during the pandemic and doesn’t have plans to open it back up. Bad decision. I don’t know why the spinning class always have to blast their music so loud. I usually ignore it but tonight the music is so loud, it’s making my heart beat. I can imagine all the people working out in there are going death. They leave the door open too, maybe because it’s too hot in there or they want the whole gym to know they’re spinning in there? Might as well scream into a speakerphone, “hey, gym, we like our music loud in here!”

I was visiting from San Antonio for work. As I was there working out the staff lady, Allie I think it was, was proactive and cleaning the gym and putting weights back for the obnoxiously lazy people who don't put things back after they use them. Along side greeting members with a smile instead of being on her phone like majority of gyms now adays especially here in SA. Very good experience here and appreciate the cleanliness.

Gym is always clean and whenever a machine is down for repairs it gets fixed pretty quick. Staff members are mega nice 👍 the only thing i dont like is when people are on their phones hogging the equipment for about 15 plus minutes instead of working out and letting other people get their workout.

I became a member in 2018 in part because of the atmosphere and the stationary bikes but mainly for the pool. I have bad hips and knees and and needed this equipment. In summer of 2020 I was excited about it opening back up from the pandemic, but the stationary bikes were in disrepair and no one really cared about fixing them no matter how many times I would point it out. The final straw was when you made a corporate decision to do away with the pool. I immediately canceled my membership. The pool was a God send and I looked forward to it at least twice a week.

Love Gold’s Gym. I’ve been to other gyms and there’s always people standing around talking as well as they all seem more interested in videotaping themselves rather than working out. You always have to watch where your going so you don’t trip over their tripod’s. Not at this place, everyone is serious and they’re there to workout. My only complaint is it’s always so hot in there. I wish they had bigger fans or turn up the ones they have on the ceiling. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

so I decided to go ahead and get back in the gym, the that I was supposed to go back a had a serious battle with covid which in turn made very weak as well as breathing complication.When I was able to call and inform them of the situation they gave me the run around and then they finally gave me the operating manager no. Which he never answered or returned my calls in reference to canceling membership and getting reimbursement for not being able to proceed with membership up until this day I haven't heard from anyone.im just disgruntled about this hold affair and hope someone benefit from this review.Because obviously they don't care to resolve my situation appropriately. Hope no one gets bam boozeled like me.

It is a good gym but they need to expand. Good equipment for most everything but hardly anything for core. Even at 5am it is a bit crowded. 24hr access is almost a necessity for many work schedules, which this facility does not offer. Great otherwise.

I could have just joined Planet Fitness for $10 a month for what I receive from this gym. But I will be looking at 24 Hours Fitness and LA Fitness for the amenities that I require after a good workout, since I can't receive it Gold's gym anymore!

Recently moved to Waxahachi and wanted to check out this gym today, until I read the reviews, this place has so much bad reviews specifically with payments, contracts, and fees, I don’t want to deal with that mess. My last gym was 24 hour fitness, unfortunately there’s not one here, I never had a problem with them I cancelled my membership with them after 3 years and that was it. No fees no contract bs. For the ones that canceled where did y’all end up going? I need a gym ASAP! No contract or trainers bs just straight fitness.

If you are looking for a basic gym membership, golds is for you. In my experience Im just here to work out and this location provides just that. Lots of space and different equipment. They are in the middle of updating the place so it has a very rugged feel to it but has working bathrooms and lockerooms. Front desk staff is super nice and friendly. Extra clean environment. Would definitely recommend golds. No swimming pool here but they do have general classes and cycle classes!

Canceled my membership in November 2020. Was told on three separate occasions that my reason for ending my contract was significant enough that I would not have to pay the cancellation fee. On the third time after having to call multiple times the manager told me they would personally take care of it... well... I’ve since been charge three more times and have not heard a word. Golds was my favorite gym on the planet and I planned on going back as soon as I could. Not anymore. They lost me for sure and I will never be back nor will ever recommend it to anyone again.

Stop and read. New and existing members.. Been a member for well over a year . Was paying near 50 with tax a month. It wasn't until I heard a walk in customer asking about prices that rates dropped to 25 a month and no annual fees . I was still paying full price . Golds should have dropped my fees down to 25 automatically. If your a member and did not know, well now you do . Go tell the gm to get you changed over to the new rates . They will not do it if you don't demand it .

Canceled my membership Nov of 2019 after breaking my foot. I went to the front desk (in a cast) and was told no problem, just come back when it’s better. Been with Golds for years. I received a call from collections two months ago saying I owe them $260 for non payment of dues - AFTER I already canceled. I thought it was a mistake so I called the office and sent numerous emails to management trying to get help to clear it up. I would even pay the fraudulent charges just to keep it off my credit. Nobody offered help or a resolution. This fraudulent charge is now a black mark on my credit. P.S. I’ve never written a bad review in my life. Plenty of other honest gyms in the area. Don’t get trapped like me.

This company is a SCAM! They’ve been charging everyone thousands of dollars since the pandemic started yet they weren’t even open. Even started taking legal action against innocent people for the money THEY STOLE FROM THEM.
Do not come here unless you want money stolen from you. Only way to stop them charging is by going to your bank. Changing cards won’t do anything, they’ll find that one too.

Worst gym I’ve ever been a part of. Not only did I cancel my account a year ago they kept charging me. Apparently my card was “accidentally” placed on someone else’s account. And I forfeited my right to refund after not noticing for 90 days. So 600 dollars thrown away. And they refunded me 100 dollars. Place and staff are complete jokes. Highly do not recommend this gym. If customer service is high on the list then this place is definitely not for you. Big corporation who only cares about themselves!!!

RUN AWAY!!! We were loyal Golds customers for years. Then the pandemic began (mid March 2020). They gladly took our money for months while we stayed home. We finally canceled our credit card and tried to quit. First the manager did not return our call. Then they said it had to be in person. Yesterday my wife went in person. She gave them our new credit card number to settle any balance. They told her that only I could cancel the membership. I went today and they said the manager was at lunch (after 5:00 pm). I waited for his return. He told me that they would continue to charge the card number that my wife gave them. They purposely take you for all they can. They make it difficult to quit, then when you do they charge you for an extra month.

I am so glad Gold's has opened back up. I missed their facilities during the shutdown several months back. I've been impressed by the increased cleaning protocols and respect for the mandatory mask policy of the staff. I appreciate the staff who help enforce the masks since there are so many members that refuse or blatantly don't wear masks. I see a lot of people leaving reviews of proposed "victimization," but I have watched the managers walk through repeatedly asking members(independent of gender or age) to put masks on, only to observe members pull masks off once they are not being looked at. Whether you like the masks or not make it easy on yourself and them and help all of us by just putting your mask on in the first place, that way we can keep this Gym open during this pandemic and enjoy all the improvements they're working on.

However, the guys working out in free weight section did not have masks on. Watched other people train in front of me with no mask on. Not sure why there isn’t a standard policy. I'm not one to write negative reviews and most certainly not for my favorite gym. However, the staff they had hired has no level of professionalism. I respect the rules for currently wearing a mask. Over half of the gym was not wearing a mask when I got to my station. It became unbearable to breath in it while running so I slid it down under my chin since no one was within 6ft of my station. An employee whom was a female late 40s-early 50s approached me directly and told me to put my mask on. I had my headphones on so I waived her that I got it. She then passes multiple men; younger muscular fit men, smiles in that direction and walks off. Noted; none of these men were wearing their masks either... on my way out I passed by two and asked if she had approached them, both said no. I then was a bit frustrated with this employee so I asked her directly why she would single me out, because I'm a young female? Because they were decent looking and she didn't want to look bad? Highly unprofessional and I was disgusted by her immediate defense as if she did nothing wrong? She said they might have clearance. One, I personally know from the gym... he is not cleared for anything except being a gym junkie.. The disrespect and unprofessionalism of this experience has tipped the cake.
Needless to say if you are going to workout, just don't talk to the employees, they wouldn't be of good service.

Was a great gym until the mask police came in. General manager is a joke, singled me out over not wearing a mask when half the people had their mask on their chin or on the neck. Never told me I had to leave or threaten to kick me out, I never threatened him and was calm when talking to him. He just doesn’t have balls to be a man himself and have a conversation. He then calls the police on me and they told me I was criminal trespassing and now I can’t go back. He didn’t do this to anybody else not wearing a mask

Tried to cancel a membership during COVID shutdown via email to corporate to inquire on how to do. Only a canned reply. No email notice of local gym reopening and then charging. Upon cancellation still required to pay another 30 days even though we tried to cancel earlier. Yes- signed agreement on enrollment but not having a way to cancel and then being required to pay for the 30 day period is not right. Was told we could have sent a certified letter during this time but if they don't answer the phone or reply to email-who is going to sign for it? Now I understand more of why they are in bankruptcy.
