Absolutely do NOT give HOTWORX access to your bank account.
I NEVER signed a contract with them, only tried the gym for a month—and immediately realized it wasn’t for me. No staff was ever on-site to assist, which made using the facility confusing and frustrating. I stopped going altogether, yet they continue to charge my account and harass me weekly despite multiple attempts to resolve this.

This is incredibly unethical and feels like a scam.
Save yourself the stress. There are plenty of gyms that respect your time and your wallet.

It’s your typical hot works studio, but you can tell it’s a bit older. I normally work out in the early morning 4 AM or 5 AM and I don’t know why because I’ve never experienced this at any other location but it takes about 45 minutes to get the temperature to 130. I’m assuming the owner needs to change The heating pipe so I don’t know, but It takes way too long. I’m assuming it’s because this place is a little bit older Maybe things need to be replaced I don’t know. I doubt you’ll have this issue if you Come during standard business hours though.

Replying back- Of course I know where I got athletes foot from. I'm in my 40's and only had it one other time from highschool. The manager questioned me on if I had a doctor's note stating that I got it from Hotworx, which is hilarious and ignorant!

On the cancelation and times being there, that is neither here or there, because their app didn't work whatsoever. On cancelation on membership, when your business is giving athletes foot and the fact that I live over an hour away, you should be smart and business savvy enough to cancel.

Horrible company don't waste your money$$$ The workouts themselves are ridiculous, but the worst part was getting athletes foot from there and their reply was to ask if I had a doctor's note stating I got it from there! Lol, they really work hard on clutching onto any money they can from you before you head out the door! As if a doctor is examining the place of contact! I went 4-5 times within months, I spent more time dealing with athletes foot than I did where I contracted it! Other than treatment I used my actual infrared light at home to help out.

I liked Hotworx and signed up but unfortunately had to move due to my parent trying to commit suicide. They texted me about my last months bill (which I thought I completed) and asked how much longer I had. I had called previously to get it cancelled but was unsuccessful.

My frustration is the person I was speaking to, when I told them what happened and was fine if they charged me anything extra because I left houston. They immediately told me how I should have known the rules regardless because someone goes over it with you.

Terrible Experience – Dishonest, Rip offs & Unprofessional.... apparently, I’m not the only one to have been deceitfully ripped off. It seems like a lot of the reviews are similar..........
I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience at Hotworx. Upon signing up, the manager verbally assured me that I wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee if or when I cancelled if I discussed my decision to cancel with her in person; I even had a friend as a witness to overhear this verbal agreement. I followed this process exactly. I went in to cancel with her personally; she closed my membership, thanked me, and I left with no mention of charging me. Later that day, my card was hit with a $107 cancellation fee. I called and emailed several times with no response. Finally, she—the manager—emailed back and conveniently forgot her promise and verbal agreement of not charging me a cancellation fee. I informed her that not only did I, but my friend also witnessed the conversation inckuding her say “ See, what do you have to lose?"

I tried reaching out multiple times via phone and email, only to be ignored and/or blown off! I even requested a call from a higher-level manager and was met with silence. When the manager finally responded, instead of addressing the issue and having a higher-up contact me, she accused me of threatening her, which was completely untrue. (I didn’t know “communication” was a threat!) She gave me the email of her superior, and I reached out twice—still no response.

This is beyond unprofessional. Their customer service is non-existent, and they have no regard for their customers.
They tell you one thing, make verbal agreements, then go back on their word and sneakily take your money. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
The catch to this plqce is regardless of advance notice or verbal contract as to when you want to cancel your membershio they will charge you to cancel and then lie to your creditcard co to say youre still a member when youre not just so they can keep your money deceitfully, .
Also, their bikes were always broken so you were’nt getting what your paying for .
Double-check your charges from them, and if you were given a verbal agreement like I was, good luck! Stay far away if you value honesty and professionalism and your hard earned money.

LOVE Hotworx!!! It has been a total game changer in my fitness routine! My husband and I do the hot cycle and core together. This saves so much time from our regular cardio routine not to mention all the additional health benefits. I’m a body builder and my trainers have noticed a big difference in overall muscle health/condition as well. Even my hair stylist has complimented the improvement of my skin and hair health.

As you can see, I took this photo during the summer (last year). Still, if you enjoy the benefits of the sauna and want to take you journey up a notch, try working out while in the sauna. It is a memorable experience. They are all over Houston/Katy and surrounding cities. And they are running membership specials often. We know the amazing benefits of a sauna, why not combine it with a workout. You can setup your sessions as an individual or with someone else. Pretty cool.

Update: spoke with the manager shortly after posting this review. She was very kind and helpful explaining the miscommunications and need for staffed to be additionally trained. She also confirmed maintenance will be made on the saunas/equipment early next week. Also helped me get reset in the Brivopass system. Thankful for her help and hope they continue to improve their experience for other members!

I wish there was an option to rate less than 1 star because this location truly deserves zero. I’ve been a Hotworx member for 7 years and joined this location in 2020. Their customer service is terrible. Do not join this location.

They don’t call back, they have no clue how to help you when you’re in person, but they have no problem taking money.

My friend surprised me for my birthday in September 2023 by adding a gift card amount to my account to use towards future membership dues. They allowed her to pay but won’t let me use the actual balance. It’s now been 5 months that $150 was taken and not applied.

I tried to use it in-person to buy swag/accessories but the front desk attendant couldn’t figure out how to ring up items. After 45 mins of my time wasted she decided I should put everything back and go when the owner was there. The owner is basically never there and has odd hours to try to meet someone who works a 9-5.

I then called mid-December to upgrade my account to “sweat everywhere” so I could use another location during my Christmas travel. The staffer who I talked to was pleasant and said she’d use the credit to upgrade me… finally it worked!

However on January 3rd they texted me that my monthly dues were overdue and to call to make payment. There’s still the credit in my account and 2 valid credit cards on file. I called immediately to sort it out. The staffer had a huge attitude. She told me she’d have to check with her manager if she could apply the credit to dues. I said that’s fine and if not just charge one of my cards. She said she’d call me back. It’s Saturday now, she never called back. I tried calling every day this week and the phone just rings and rings.

Here’s the problem, I’ve been using my membership all week (at a new location because Cinco Ranch is terrible, more on that later) and today my door code doesn’t work and neither does my Brivopass. I was able to book sessions and they’re in the app but I can’t get in.

I’m beyond annoyed with this location’s 1) lack of competency 2) customer service 3) lack of care for their studio.

This studio is the worst I’ve ever been too. At least one of the HIIT machines is always broken, the sauna’s themselves have missing/broken pieces of the wood, and they’re not cleaned regularly.

This owner clearly does not care about her business nor her reputation. Read the other Google reviews here and you’ll understand.

It’s a shame, I really enjoy Hotworx but I’m going to have to go in-person today to talk to someone who again will “have to talk to their manager” so I can cancel my membership and change to the better location in my area. Avoid this location at all costs.

I really enjoy the Hotworx workouts and the concept, but I moved away and am no longer close to this studio. When I asked to transfer the membership to a different studio, I was told they don't offer that, so I've been trying to cancel my membership for over two months. It's incredibly difficult to get ahold of anyone as their staffed hours are limited and at inopportune times of the days (when they show up). I've called numerous times and when I was able to get ahold of someone, they told me I had to come in to the studio to cancel (which is ridiculous). I moved and going to the studio to cancel my membership was the last thing on my mind during a move, not to mention pretty much everything can be done over the phone or virtually these days. When I notified them I wasn't able to come in because I no longer live nearby, I was given a managers info who has yet to return any of the dozen phone calls I've made and left messages with staff, nor has she returned the 7-10 emails I've sent. I spoke with someone yet again who said she would be able to cancel my membership over the phone, but it would cost me $99 or I'd have to give a 60-day notice. What do you think I've been trying to do for the last two months!? This is one of the worst business policies I've encountered at a gym, and I've been a member of a lot of gyms over the years. It's incredibly frustrating!

I’ve been a member at the cinco ranch location since about July of last year and love HOTWORX. Ever since they moved locations in the shopping center, I’ve rarely had issues finding and booking a class. And bonus… there are more workout class options/saunas in the bigger space. If you love breaking into a good sweat, in half the normal workout time (15-30min), this is the place for you! The amenities are always clean and I love the 24 hour access to workout whenever I want/need to. Highly recommend!

Very unprofessional during the move to the new building. Nothing has been posted on the website or phone line answering machine. The system allowed me to book a session and I was sent a "text" less than 30 minutes prior to the start time and told that they weren't "open yet" and that the information is on social media. I am not on social media, reall? I have to check social media?
Why is this information not on your "website". Why was an email not sent out to members. This is very unprofessional. How do you run a business like this?

This company is causing more harm than good. The pitch is that sauna workouts reduce inflammation. Saunas do with careful exposure, but a Google search will not land you any data on sauna workouts because it is so niche. You're essentially taking their word for it. I chose Hotworx as it is less expensive. I now have an inflammatory condition in one of my organs. Doctors will tell you this is cooking your body from the inside out. When I went to cancel my membership they want to ask why and just argue with you like you're the problem. You can't cancel over the phone you have to come in, and the first girl claimed she didn't know how to do it. This is one of my biggest regrets, Hotworx needs to go.

So I just want to say that this review is as low as it is due to the lack of professionalism and disrespect that I encountered this morning 11/05/2021.

To start, I messed up my pin on accident to enter the building. I had to enter it 3 times since the keypad takes time to reset itself. I stood there for a minute to allow the reset and during that time the employee who was standing there could have easily let me in. I had my mat with me so clearly I was a member.

Once I entered, she said good morning and I responded. She didn’t hear my response and loudly repeated herself with a very rude tone “GOOD-MORNING” I responded with the same demeanor as I will not allow anyone to disrespect me like that.

I pay good money monthly for services that I should be able to enjoy. Walking in to a hostile greeting like that ruined my experience for the morning.

On a more personal note, my wedding is in 2 days. My father can’t make it because my grandmother is literally on her death bed which I’ve just recently found out. I went to hotworx to let off steam and get away from the stress and heart break that this has brought me.

You don’t know what people are going through. The way she spoke to me shows her lack of maturity, ability to be professional, and makes me question if I should continue with this membership or not.

Please read!! As a former member, former trained employee, and now current member again, I can honestly say I love this place and what it has to offer. The contract explicitly states all costs and policies and is immediately emailed upon signing of the membership agreement. The TSA’s also summarize what the consent says so you know what you’re signing as you go. There are also walk in/non contract packages if you don’t want the commitment of a contract! It’s also the cheapest workout option in comparison with lifetime and orange theory. It’s a unique, satisfying workout experience. The staff is always eager to help as well as Robyn, the manager. I have had experience with customers who are rude and don’t want to pay for cancellations or memberships, but if you read the contact, everything is there and no one is misleading.

I decided to cancel because the gym is way too small and I felt claustrophobic in it after my 90 days, and she basically lied to me. How unfair. If they wanted to cancel it they could, but they’re thieves. They will sell you with lies so you could come and buy their membership immediately. Next time, management shouldn’t lie for sales. There’s a whole pandemic going on, there’s no need to scam customers for money.

If you are contemplating signing up for hotworx please read this before you sign anything.
The shorted version is i was forced (by contract) to pay about $300 and only used hotworx twice...if you want more details please read. The owner, Robin, doesn't care that I spent hundreds of dollars without using it; she just cared about the contract. the owner did have a legal right to take my money but also she chose to take it even when she knew my situation with that being said here is the long version...
I joined summer 2020 because I had a friend who worked there and it seemed like a great place. They make you buy a special $80 mat “heat resistant”. I ended up getting a serious injury the second time I went (3 slipped discs). My friend told her boss this and the boss said “she couldn't have gotten injured” and infered I was lying, my friend who worked there relied to me. I was offended she talked like that behind customers backs but that wasn't even the biggest issue. I wanted to cancel right there because I couldnt walk let alone drive to use a gym but they trap you in a contract where you have to request to leave 3 months in advance or pay $100 to end the contract... I ended up putting the membership on hold,I believe paying $10 a month to not have to pay the $50 per month. I do this for afew months because I physically cannot walk without my spine condensing on itself. In August I end up leaving houston for college (also have not been back to houston since) and try to end the contract again but get the same response. I even told Robin my situation twice and requested the fees canceled because I obviously didn't get any use of her place. And I thought this was resolved around october but I got more phone calls telling me I owe then $79 to end the contract. Almost 8 months and $300 I am officially away from this terrible business. Also the employees are good but none of it worth the heartache and stress it caused to me. I bet Robin will reply “but the contract is legal and no you are wrong we tried to fix the situation”

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I heard about infrared saunas when I went through back pain and surgery and tried it. It was amazing how it made me feel. The stress relief is also amazing. I feel amazing after a workout. If you haven’t tried it you must!!

I just joined HOTWORX today but I'm already in love! I went in for a free initial session, tired from my work day, and after 30 mins of pilates/row I feel energized and invigorated. I love the automation aspect and convenience, and the heat feels so good in getting my blood flowing. 24 hr access with complete control of my experience is a new standard for me! I felt very comfortable, secure, and well informed by Chelsea.

I signed up back in April, at the time I spoke to the owner and after she explained me how it works I specifically asked her if there was a contract and said no ma'am, just try it for 3 months if u dont like it just simply let us know before or even right when the 3rd month expires, if you decided to stay then we can do it for a yr and u will need to give us a notification in advance if you decided to cancel. Right now I'm about to be 3months and due to my extensive work schedule I can't continue and I even just used it for maybe 5 times for the 3month period. Now that I'm calling to cancel. They are telling me that I can't, that I need to give them 2 months notification in advance!!! I asked to talk to the owner and apparently she's not available today was my second attempt to get this resolved. I'm very disappointed on how some ppl get advantaged and don't really care. The person I talked to apologized and said that there is a policy and they cant do that that I need the 2 months notification, do you think I'm lying about what she told me? I'm not lying and if she is the owner she should be more professional and stopped telling wrong information just to get clients.

Whoa! I didn’t know 30 min of Pilates could burn that many calories! I’ve done traditional Bikram yoga in the past, and thought I was prepared for the infrared saunas.

Nope! Similar, yes .... but so much less time! I’m waiting on the “afterburn” to stop before I figure how many calories I can really attribute to the workout.

Going back to try the cardio, ISO and yoga!
