LA Fitness Centerville in Garland. Friendly atmosphere with most members here. However, uncomfortable men's locking room. I have a daily routine M-F. I come in do my workout, shower and head to work. My shower time is around 9:30am then off to work. On a daily basis, I have to experience a very vocal member pleasuring himself in the shower and its quite disturbing to hear. It has been reported to management on 3 occasions. They say they have spoken with the member. Nothing has changed. I am sure the code of ethics is to not be a disturbance to other member. Rules don't apply to this member apparently.

I have been a LA Fitness member since 2012. Never once have I ever experienced anything like I am experiencing at this gym. Avoid showering here around 9:30am if you'll be uncomfortable showering. I don't have much of a choice because I have to head to work and the member seem to be on my same shower time schedule.

It's a good gym, my only complaint is that there's always someone in the sauna w/their phone on speaker running their mouth like we wanna hear their baby momma drama. Need to put up a sign for proper sauna etiquette, some of us are there to relax.

Under new management, this location is so much cleaner and brighter. The front desk staff are always welcoming and helpful. We even gotten new yoga mats when the previous ones were all torn off for months prior to new manager.

Tonight while I was taking a shower I was threatened by someone who said the facilities were closed and they will revoke my subscription, to which I acknowledged and hurried to finish. Seconds later I was threatened again. I responded that I was naked and unaware of the time, next thing, a skinny guy with tattoos, yellow dyed hair and dangling cross earring approached my shower stall and started arguing with me…He was not wearing a LA Fitness sign, logo, uniform nor badge and after a heated argument, I emphasized the need to get dressed to leave the facilities. Outside I was approached by another person who explained the facility's working hours -No badge, sign or logo as well- She said that it was already 11:06 and the facilities were closed thus my argument with the guy took more than 6 minutes. When I requested the name of the guy she responded that she didn’t know, when I requested a manager on site I was told there was none. Raquel excused herself by saying it was her first week and she didn’t know the names of the people she work with. On my way out I ask for the guy's name. Ricardo was accompanied by another person without a badge as well.

I am a two-time Cancer Survivor and was recently cleared to start exercising. I chose LA Fitness due to their Pool and Sauna installation and the last thing that I need is being approached by a random person at the shower and being threatened that my subscription will be revoked.

If Ricardo does work for LA Fitness not only does his lack of professionalism need to be accounted for but he is also a Peeping Tom.

My dad needed to cancel his membership, but you can't cancel online. He went in to his nearest LA Fitness and they told him he still couldn't cancel it because they needed a manager to do it. So now he has to wait until next week for a manager to come in in order to cancel it. Now we had to freeze his account temporarily, which I'm still not sure if there's a charge for that or not. I understandable it's a business, but to in order to make money you have to give an elderly man the run around??? Why isn't there a manager on site since a manager is required in order to cancel memberships?? Do better.

Under New Staff!! The General Manager Omar was very welcoming to me and my family. He took his time to show me the facility and awesome amenities they provide and there awesome group fitness classes. He was very straight forward with us and gave us the best plan for us to begin our fitness journey. Very clean facility and very friendly staff at the Garland location.!!

I joined LA Fitness at the Garland location this past July, and I am beyond frustrated with my experience.

The staff here is extremely rude—they don’t even bother to say good morning. The location itself is convenient and the equipment is decent, but now I understand why it’s always so empty: the place feels abandoned and dirty.

Showers are constantly out of paper towels, soap, and sometimes even water. Some showers don’t have soap at all, the locker rooms are dirty, and unlike other LA Fitness locations, there are no clean towels available. It’s honestly unacceptable.

LA Fitness is supposed to provide the same standard experience no matter the location, but this gym is far below the mark. One bad location damages the reputation of all others, and Garland LA Fitness is a prime example of that.

I regret joining this specific gym. If management doesn’t take action soon, I will have to reconsider keeping my membership.

I’ve been putting off this review Just because of lack of time. But I have to thank …LA fitness, for so many things .. their customer service .. the clubs and the people their staff.

Customer service ! First, you can get a hold of a human! in a reasonable amount of time. And they make it easy for payments, etc..

First, I have been going to health clubs for decades, don’t, ask how long lol .. starting with Bally’s, Presidents (which I was very pleased with their service ) they sold to LA fitness, ( I was apprehensive of the change!!!! ) la fitness, upgraded the clubs . Honored old contracts. Wow .. !

During Covid, I did not go for a year or so. But, I did not want to cancel my health club membership. So I kept paying my membership cost.. (Because it has been such a lifeline in my life and my membership cost was such a fair price. I didn’t want to lose my membership. I had to call customer service because my credit card was expiring . (their agent was very helpful and courteous ). The representative said I could put my account on semi hold and only pay half of the monthly payments. I was amazed that they would make that offer. And grateful! . Wow again! So about a year later, I called to have my membership fully reinstated (because I was heading back to the club) and they did just what they said they would, they didn’t!!! raise my rates …which was what I was afraid of. Wow again!
Now I’m back on a regular schedule. And so much appreciate LA fitness. And everyone that works there. No business is perfect but through the years.. they’ve only tried to improve in this ever-changing market. Thank you

Visited from my LA Fitness in Duncanville to Grand Prarie because I wanted to experience another local gym and use their sauna because mine had theirs waiting to be serviced. They have less equipment than mine and people are not as friendly. Asian is so hot I could not stand being in there more than 5 minutes at a time. I ended up getting pimples on my ass and back because they keep it so hot in there, my watch burned me and my crocs shrunk. They used to be loose and one is huge my foot just right and the other is so tight I will consider replacing them. Please do not keep it that hot. My phone didn’t even last 5 minutes before warning me that it was an emergency it usually takes a good 20-30 minutes at other saunas I’ve been to locally. They keep the temperature setting covered where you can’t lower it and it is way too high that it is dangerous l. It is definitely a safety issue for members.

The other thing, they are always out of the lighter free weights such as the 20s and 25s. They are always scattered throughout the gym and they don’t encourage members to put them back where they belong . Maybe have another set of weights in the open training area because they always take the lighter weights there.

I walked in, asked for help, inquired about the 3-day free guest pass that they offer on their website, and was told no unless I agreed to sign up with them. Crystal’s customer service and demeanor towards potential members are disgusting. The gym also smelled disgusting, and trash was everywhere. Sign up at your own risk. If that’s the face of LA Fitness, then I highly recommend revising your team's skills, as they completely lack customer service.
You will not get a warm welcoming from LA Fitness in Garland.

SO much basic equipment is missing from cable machines good luck finding handles if you wanna do some chest flys or anything, or maybe you get lucky and find the one rope handle in the gym.

weights are a cluster F, no straight curl bars only ez curls. They used to have straight curl bars now theres like 1 or 2 left and they got replaced with MORE ez curls? machines? good luck, the seat on the very front row for curls feels like your on noahs ark for last 3 months. such basic stuff easy to fix with maintenance and literally anyone giving a damn. im not even gona get into the cleanliness and enough reviews have said how bad it is.

staff don't even look at you when you come in because you just scan yourself in. i could give my phone to 30 people outside and let them all walk in and scan my login an i guarantee no one wold notice. i literally have no idea what the staff does.

It’s wild because they really just don’t care. People are always complaining about how dirty this place is. I always tried to be realistic with my expectations but when I used the same shower three days in a row, and the same piece of gum was sitting in the same shower all three days, that tells me they haven’t bothered to clean the showers for at least 3 days. Went ahead and canceled my membership. I’m not trying to catch anything from this nasty place. It’s 100% preventable. It takes just a little give a damn. I worked at a gym from 2011-2015 and we cleaned everything at least once a shift. That means the locker room, equipment, and lobby areas were cleaned at least 3 times a day. There is no way they can’t clean at least once a day. 3 days without cleaning the shower is insane.

If you work out here you can expect your vehicle to be broken into or stolen at gun point. However, management has posted flyers warning people of the high risk. The staff and people are friendly. This part of town is rough, I should know, I live 5 minutes away for the last 40 years.

9 sinks in the men’s dressing & restroom. Only one with soap. Only ONE!
You have to assume every surface you touch has been and will be touched someone else. Did we learn nothing with the pandemic a couple of years ago?! Basic hygiene is paramount to contain the spread of any virus. No TP in 3 restroom stalls, one out of 9 sinks with soap. This place is a breeding ground for anything communicable. Correction, EVERYTHING.
Week after week, it’s the same.
This is basic stuff!

Greatest gym at least to me and a few thousand more. It varies a little bit by location. You got the clerk at the front desk they are either loving their job or hating it. Regardless of that, the pool is awesome, it has 3 lanes. Love the sauna. The equipment and attendees vary from gym to gym. But from choices you got out there this is the best one.

I had set up a 3-day guest pass, so I could checkout this location specifically for the swimming pool. Due to a health condition, swimming is the best exercise I can do for my COPD. I went to take a tour on Thursday 08/22 anticipating to utilize the pool. Unfortunately it was closed for cleaning. I was told that by the following Sunday the pool would be ready. I said I'd give it an extra day and come in on Monday 08/26. It wasn't until The 28th that I was feeling strong enough to come in and activate my 3 Day pass. The pool was still unavailable!
I don't/can't just jump in the car and run an errand. Lung capacity makes it difficult causing major exhaustion and fatigue that can wipe me out for 1-2 days. That's why swimming is so good for me. It helps strengthen the lungs while being zero impact.
Sadly to say but the young man who assisted me on my very first visit, made it painfully obvious that getting me into a membership was his only purpose for talking with me.

I have been to many LA Fitness locations as a member for 8 years and this is by far the worst location I’ve been to and I drive further just to avoid going to this location. The stair stepper machines are almost always broke and usually don’t even have signs saying they are out of order.

People don’t put weights back or wipe down the equipment. There bathrooms aren’t clean.

I don’t understand how their cardio machines on the first floor are almost always broken and their management doesn’t do anything about it.

Guys. You have to join this gym! I came on a busy pass and was blown away. I joint and had a training session w the Manager (curly hair) my memory fails me who was FABULOUS and literally changed my life! I usually work out an hour and a half on weights, but after 10 min w him I was sweating and felt like I had worked out my whole body doing just 2 exercises! He has blood camp on Saturdays at 10 free once public there. I’m so glad I switched gyms!!

This gym overall isn’t bad. The staff is welcoming and they have everything you would need to get a good workout in. Please do not leave valuables in your car. My car got broken in to. I feel like I’m playing musical chairs every morning I try to use their treadmill. I thought they broke cause new years everyone wants to break them but they haven’t fixed them. Age, race, discrimination. Elderly financial abuse!!! The manager, Taylor signed my mom up for 6 months of training without her permission. They verbally agreed and put in writing her 1 month request. Again, she requested 1 month ONLY. Now, at almost 80, she is stuck in a 6 month contract that she was NEVER made aware of. We called member services and McKinley in Arizona said he was the member service manager and we could not go any further stating there was NO ONE else above him. He then hung up. Do not do business here. Go to another location.

The front desk staff was extremely friendly. The gym was presentable overall. I love the fact it has a smoothie stand and couple of tables to take a break or socialize. The studio floor was not bad at all and was able to do lots of dancing there. My main concern was when I stepped into the sauna room there were a couple of Hispanic older men that kept talking inside the sauna extremely loud. I could tell that there were a couple of other people inside the sauna were extremely annoyed ( myself included ). There were tables nearby the lobby that they could of gone in order to socialize. That's why I'm giving the review a four stars.

I hate this gym and their management. Joining this gym and choosing to try their personal training for the month of January is one of the worst decisions that I have ever made. I was lied to and charged $500 for services that I have never received. I am being told that I am being held to a contract, that I don't remember signing, while at the same time they aren't being held to the services in that same contract

When I signed up with Giovanni, he told me that I would get the following:

1. Six - 45 minute personal training classes for the month of January only, because I told him that I only wanted January. He said that he would make sure that I was only billed for January since I didn't want the monthly courses. It turns out that he was lying he signed me up for a six month course. My first session was 45 minutes, after the trainer Taylor was 20 minutes late. 20 minutes of that session was him having me do the treadmill while he attended to another client. It was a terrible session and I switched trainer, but he was worse. Ivan, the second trainer was 30 minutes late and told me that the session would only be 25 minutes instead of the 45 minutes that I paid for. My back was injured during my session with him because he told me to squats (4 sets of 10) and was not watching my form. When I told him that my back was really hurting, this man literally told me "do it again so that I can watch your form this time". UGH!!!! I was so pissed! I was hurting so bad. After some rest, I recovered, but it should not have happened in the first place. How are not going to watch my form?? That is what a trainer does.
2. He said as a part of my six classes that I would receive weekly meal pre emails for 4 weeks. I never received these and was literally told that they apologize. They didn't even try to correct it.
3. I was told that I would have my weight and mainly measurements tracked each week. During both sessions I was told because they got a late start my weight and measurements would be taken next time. NOT because I was LATE, but BECAUSE THEY WERE LATE!

After the second time I was done. I did what I was supposed to do. I paid my money, and I showed up on time ready to workout. I spoke to Giovanni and told him that I was not getting what I paid for that I was done and i wanted my money refunded, even it is only for the amount of the classes that I was not going to take because they didn't show up to work to do their part. He said that he would refund me the entire amount. HOWEVER, instead of refunding me I was charged for the month of February. WOW! I have been trying to get this rectified since January 19th. They will not return my phone calls or speak to me in the gym. I am so done.

I hate that I ever stepped foot in that so called gym. Please don't make the same mistake.

I really like this gym, it has mens/womens sauna, a pool, hot tub, and racquetball rooms that are included in the regular membership.
HOWEVER attention LADIES- I have only been a member here for a month, and I have seen a man in the Women’s locker room TWICE now. He has been in the locker room itself, and further past that area outside of the women’s sauna by the bathrooms/showers.
I told the staff both times and the first time one said “oh it’s ok” and this time (today) the front desk staff said he would tell the Janitor. It seems like they are not prepared or really care about things like this; LA should have some policy in place as I was extremely shocked and straight up annoyed when it happened again.
The first time I saw the man, I was in the sauna, he put his bag down right outside the sauna door and stared at me in the eye. Both times I have seen him have been at night. I don’t want to go to the rowlett location because I just moved down the street from here. :(

1/31/2024 -coming back to say - too many people are comfortable taking off their socks and shoes in the gym. That should be against the rules especially if you are within 5 ft of someone sharing a mat, which happened to me yesterday. I also saw a woman picking her barefoot toenails. Just as horrifying as it sounds I wouldn’t make this up.

Aqua aerobics is great at this location! I come here specifically for the Aqua classes. The instructors keep you moving during class, the gym provides all the pool equipment and they have day, evening and weekend Aqua classes. These classes are well attended - at least 10 people in the week day classes. No cancelled classes. No towel service, so bring your own. The women’s locker area is clean. Bring your own lock if you use a locker. Lots of room around the pool if you want to bring your things into the pool area. No swimsuit spinner, so bring a bag for your swimsuit after class. Large parking lot.

This is a good quality gym and I had a very good workout. Lots of equipment to choose from in a big, open environment. The music from their sound system wasn't too loud, employees were kind, equipment was clean. Men's locker room and shower was clean. Overall, a satisfying experience at this LA Fitness location.

I was very hopeful when I saw how accessible your website is when I decided to explore joining a gym. That led me to believe that as a wheelchair user my business would be wanted. However, your sales team, based on my experience, needs sensitivity training in order to communicate with individuals with disabilities about membership. The training could also help to eliminate attitudinal barriers toward people with disabilities.

I contacted a salesperson at your Garland location on Thursday, August 10, 2023 by phone and shared very clearly that I am a wheelchair user. I asked on the phone very pointed questions about wheelchair users and bringing an attendant/caregiver to facilitate my use of the gym equipment. I was delighted when he looked forward to meeting with me on the following day at 10 o’clock. When I arrived, he remembered me from our phone conversation. From the beginning of our in person appointment, he looked to my attendant instead of me. My attendant redirected him as I am the customer. As he gave us a tour, I asked many questions, and he continued to look to my attendant every time he answered. My attendant, who was otherwise silent, continued to redirect him that I was the customer. He introduced me by name (FINALLY!) to the personal trainer and she immediately reached to shake my attendant’s hand instead of mine. My attendant then backed away and said that I was the customer. Later in the tour, I asked about fitness classes that I might participate in. The salesperson, totally underestimated me and said that I should just stick with aquatics for now.

When it was time to sit down and talk about membership options, my attendant removed herself from our vicinity and conversation so that he would have to talk with me. He proceeded to talk about totally different pricing than we had discussed on the phone. I repeated what he said to me and recalled information from our conversation the day before. He insisted that I would need to pay the higher amount and referred to the higher amount reflecting my having access to purchase sessions with a personal trainer. I then brought my attendant back over because she would remember the price information from the phone call the day before. As she approached, the salesperson said, “she’s not understanding what I’m saying.“ Then he chuckled. Once my attendant was back in the conversation, he totally changed the story and said that the higher price had to do with access to LA Fitness nationwide. That was the first time he mentioned the word ‘nationwide’ in our conversation.

Your facility is beautiful, mostly accessible, and new! I have two friends with disabilities who work out at this same location. However, due to the experience I had last Friday I’m not sure it’s a good match for me. I felt invisible, underestimated, and certainly not valued as a potential paying customer.

Not only did the manager fail to address a concerning situation where a man was taking pictures of women without their knowledge, but the lack of action taken by the staff was utterly unacceptable. Came to workout with my wife and she felt unsafe as an old man was taking pictures of her and other females. When I went to go talk to the man he fled before I could speak to him. When I told the staff about the incident they just shrugged it off and said there’s nothing they could do since he left. Expected more from LA and they really let females down especially my wife. We will be going to another gym and cancelling our membership here.

If you’re a women don’t come here, I have been coming to this gym for years and today me and my boyfriend caught an old guy taking pictures and videos of women. My boyfriend told the staff about it and they didn’t do anything about it. One lady came up to us and thanked us for telling staff and said that he had been taking pictures and watching her since Monday. I’m so disgusted and upset by the staff, they failed to make women feel safe.

This place is ridiculous, I can’t believe folks are still signing up. It’s sooooooooooooooo busy, “ALL THE TIME!” 🙄🙄🙄🙄 when you have a 9-5 work schedule. If your retired, or don’t work then perfect for you. But if you work a 9-5 then forget it!

The cycle machines are broken, except one ☝🏽 and there has been break-ins to cars and they don’t clean 🧼 up the broken glass in the parking lot. The heat 🔥 sauna smells like a** they are not cleaning 🧹 and sanitizing it. There is only one ☝🏽 cycle that works, they don’t fix their cycles.

Staff is aight, they can do better with their social media. Yea they have classes but no one really goes, because they don’t really put it out there, as far as trying to get someone interested in going to a class.

I will say this … the cleaning 🧽 lady 👩🏽‍🔧 is great! 💙 She will walk around with her bucket 🪣 and cleaned 🧼 supplies and clean each machine. That I really appreciate. She makes me feel confident, in know at least they clean their old out-dated machines.

HOWEVER…
THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT ONE ☝🏽 THING AND THATS THEIR PROFIT! Beware they will come up with a fee and charge you w/o telling you …Like the, “Yearly Fee Membership” but I’m already paying a monthly fee?!? 🤔🤔 … Why do you have to pay 💰 yearly and monthly?

Just think 💭 about it … It’s busy AF all the time and folks like to hog 🐽 🐽🐽🐽 the machines … Ughhhh 🏋️‍♀️

Don't sign up here, I did multiple ways cancel my membership after I received alot of Griff from them, I am very busy didn't check my bank account and have been charged 8 + months for a membership that it was supposed to be canceled. Trough out the months I was signed up with them I did freeze my account due to surgery, they keep unfreeze it and charging me. Did sign up for y the training got charged for the full amount and only got 1 session during wich the trainer was on his phone, that was before my surgery. I changed my bank card that's how I find out was been charged, they have the odasity of still wanting me to pay up to today's date! Terrible!!!

Joined this particular gym for childcare & my 4 month old was basically refused to be taken care of bc she would cry. Lady told me to come back at another time that was more convenient for HER. You are charged an enrollment fee for childcare and an extra monthly charge but they can refuse service if your baby is being a BABY LOL might as well limit the child care to only big kids.
