This LA has been offered as a signature because of the plus on the cleaning and towels, among others. Well, since June of 2023, there have been no towels available, and every single time I try to use the showers, there is poop. The smell is awful.
I almost vomit to add a new smell to those showers. I think if they want to charge us additional for a "signature" service, they at least can keep the showers free of poop

The “hot” whirlpool is ice cold and it is overflowing. I guess LA Fitness does not have to pay a water bill each month because that whirlpool is losing at least 20 gallons a minute. It would be so easy to put a sign up at check in that just alerts the members that the Whirlpool is very screwed up and is not at all usable. But no. That obviously is too difficult for them to do. Call before you go the club to verify what is broken that day.

The one positive is that this location is closing down in March.

The kid who opens in the morning is late everyday, washing machine has been broken for several months so no towels, sauna is broken or is being cleaned in the morning so it’s unavailable most mornings. Not the best for early risers

Update: On top of everything else, I have good reason to believe that most of the lockers that have been broken into are an inside job. I had my locker broken into and my wallet and keys were stolen on Sunday and what little staff was there (no one at the front desk or watching the door) took my theft very casually and were whispering amongst each other. Sketchy place from top to bottom.

I have been a member of this gym for last 5 years.
I don’t know what happened but after summer of 22, it started going down hill.
First AC was not fixed for months, now it’s almost always something is broken, either a machine, or recently whole ceiling.
Plus, weights are everywhere. I found some in the stairs etc.
They have so many new members, so I do not know why it’s not like in the past, which was a really decent gym.
It really makes me sad to give one star, which I had given 5 in the past.

Update: I feel bad continuing writing bad reviews, but, if towel service is off for a few months, it does not feel temporary anymore.
Also, as a gym, management must know members with towel service, as a courtesy, they could reach out and reimburse, instead of requesting members to go and ask for it. Such a courtesy would go a long way, just an idea.

This club is fantastic and very clean. We have been to many of the fitness chains around Houston and this is by far, one of the best. The hot tub and pool are fantastic and in complete working order. The AC is working perfectly. The towels are not back. It is very expensive to provide towel service and fitness clubs are trying to figure out how to stay open and be profitable. Rents have risen tremendously, A couple of big gyms in the inner loop have recently closed. This is a fantastic choice for gyms.

Good gym, but, multiple thefts occurred. Someone stole my bag from a locker after cutting open my lock. No security camera were working. Staff was least bothered and told me that it is my responsibility.

Had subscribed for the towel service, and they say that their washing machine is broken for the last 2 months - makes no sense on this 'back order' for a machine part for such a big name gym. Should be a little more considerate.

They started charging for towels since the COVID. Now the washing machine is broken. No towel for about 2 weeks. No compensation, no refund. Don’t have enough numbers of dumbells and bars, and people don’t return them, and the gym stuff don’t care about it. Hardly can find 20lb, 25lb dumbells.

You’re paying for the signature centers here and not all the amenities are available, facilities are dirty if a specific lady isn’t there cleaning, and now you have to pay for towel service. There’s only two stalls in the women’s room that are not taped closed and only one locks.

Other locations are no better. Richmond fights to keep the AC on while half the machines are broken and it smells like a McDonald’s playroom. At the Yale location you’re lucky if machines are even available, it’s too crowded there to get a routine workout in. Take your money elsewhere.

Have been coming here for a few years now. Initially this location was absolutely stellar, as was typical of the LA Fitness brand, however with time the establishment has fallen short of my expectations. It began with more equipment out of order, but then turned into a 14 month air conditioning outage, a collapsed ceiling (this was fixed pretty quickly by laf standards), and just simply having too many patrons to be able to get anything done during a workout. Towel service was complimentary but then switched back to fee based with no notice, despite air conditioning still being out and it being like a sauna in the weights room. The bathrooms though, those are on point (which is rare for most gyms). I really hope that corporate HQ can pull their fingers out and get something done to improve the quality of this location. The actual location is incredibly convenient and a hugely necessary resource to so many in the med center. Honestly, I'd swerve on this location if you're looking for a new gym. Perhaps check back in in six months and it might be on the rise again.

This place turned into a dump. The whirlpool hasn’t been working since December. Broken AC. Broken equipment. Seem this place has gone south since 2021/2022. And I keep seeing the guys that play basketball never scanning their membership when they come in. Why?? People are afraid to tell them they can’t come in?? They’re not members but use everything in here, not just play basketball. BS. But rest assure, if I don’t scan in, I’ll get turned away. Whatever. You all have been warned.

Terrible parking, broken equipment and unsanitary inside. if you're planning to join for first time and you encounter sales manager named Andrew.... He may try put on a sleazy sales performance for you as he did for me with––fake stories, big smiles, firm handshake and ask "on 1 to 10, how likely are you to join?". Then he may try to sell you overpriced package especially if he senses any urgency to join from your response. I did my homework before talking to him and I ended up saving a bunch of money by joining different gym.

Gym is a typical LA Fitness Signature gym, so no complaints there. The lack of air conditioning is getting to be a bit absurd though. Yes, they brought in giant fans, but when they add water to them, it ends up making everything wet. Nothing like getting on the stair master and slipping because of condensation. No AC in the locker room either, so after taking a shower you start to sweat even more, which negates the point of the shower. Membership costs too much for this to keep on, and it’s been several months.

EDIT (6/13/23): AC appears to finally have been fixed after many months without it.

Signature club rates and poorly maintained. The hot tub has been down for months. The scales are not properly calibrated. Theres no women's work out area. The list goes on. Its not a terrible gym, but the fact you're paying EXTRA money to come here and its poorly maintained really feels like a rip off. I've seen regular clubs with lower rates maintained better...I've seen other signature clubs (with the same rate) have 2 functional hot tubs, steams rooms, classes and clean equipment. This club is more like a discount-broken-down gym than it is signature. The rates need to be lowered to a regular clubs rates, theres nothing signature about this location.

I blame myself more than anything I signed up because the guy here emailed me a discount initiation fee. I signed up with checking the place out first BIG mistake. Now I’m canceling and paid $206 in fees for two months. It’s not just this place but all LA fitness centers in Houston they are dirty, overcrowded, and hot. The AC has been down for almost a year according to people and still not fixed. The manager wrote here to talk in person about problems and how they’re fixing the AC. It’s been months of this it’s clear they don’t care. Anytime fitness now!!

This place has highly unprofessional and untrained sleazy sales staff who tried to trick and sell me membership deal I did not want. It was a good I did my home work before coming in there otherwise I would not have known all my options. The sales staff I talked to tried various sales tricks to get me to sign a deal I did it want when they had other options. When I asked for corporate office number, they provided different numbers that were wrong. I found the direct line to corporate office and I will file a complaint along evidence of my experience I have. I will also post my evidence online.

Been here since October of 2021 (April 2023 today). Place started great tbh. Gets a little packed during peak hours, but thats not the gyms fault. They have a wife array of machines and free weights and the parking is really great. Large locker rooms.

Now the reason for the 1-star:
- the AC has been broken since December of 2022. It's about to get really hot and humid due to the summer and it's going to be unbelievably miserable inside.
- after the December 2022 freeze there was some water damage and they spun it as a "remodel" but you can smell mold as soon as they had opened the gym up. Now I'm not 100% sure on this, but you can still smell it on warm days and as quick as they turned around and opened I bet there's mold above the ceiling tiles in the locker rooms
-the wifi does not work. The network is there and you can connect to it. But you'll get the "connected without internet" thing. It's basically useless.
-the custodial staff does their best to keep trash cans empty, bathrooms clean, and general tidyness which I'm sure we are all greatful for, but the gym could use a really good deep cleaning bc there are so many spots that are covered with dust, mystery stains, or machines that just smell weird.

As many others have stated, for this price these really basic issues should have been addressed long ago. Management is aware as they have stated in a post they made (and gave themselves 5 stars for).

2022 the staff is cool. The thing that irritates me is that it’s super hot in the building you start to sweat walking through the door. I’m saying this and I’m a cold natured person. My husband and I tried the fitness assessment with Jake Yang- he is a new trainer but is clearly passionate about helping people and very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond during our assessment to give us helpful pointers and encouragement. We didn’t feel rushed and got a good workout in. For someone new to working out (me) it was a very smooth, insightful and educational experience. My husband, who has more experience in the gym, picked up some really good tips too. I’ve been a member for months. I joined for group classes, I would show up to class, and no instructor, without notice. I decided to cancel my membership and was told that I couldn’t do it online, I either had to go in person or by mail. When I initially signed up, I was bombarded by phone calls and text messages from a staff member to meet and talk about my fitness goals, when I decided to go in to meet, no one was available. Poor service, group class schedule is very limited, wasn’t impressed. I was only impressed by the private parking garage.

Been going to this gym for about a year.. it started out great but now not really "signature" about this gym and just on par with the regular LA Fitness gyms.. There is always something wrong with the A/C and has a weird smell inside.. folks leave weights on equipment and don't rerack . The smoothie place is great but the quality of this gym has not been the same. Currently trying to cancel my membership but you have to print out a special form and wait for LA fitness to receive your letter.

Pretty decent gym with lots of machines and overall nice facilities. At peak hours it gets very crowded and have to be patient about waiting for using equipment. They recently started charging for towel service, which seemed pretty unfair but decided to do it. Since then, there have been several times where they don't have towels available, despite charging for this service! They really need to get their act together if they are planning to change for towels.

12/2022: They are still having difficulties providing towels, seems to be happening like at least once a week.

So i currently have a membership at 24 fitness off Louisiana st (great gym btw), however, I have a couple friends who suggested I come to check out their gym. I said sure why not, as guest passes are free and my monthly membership was coming to an end. I walk in, and Andrew informs me that because I have a basketball, the guest passes were 20$. Nowhere online did it say that it costs 20$. The second I walked in the door, I felt swindled. They claim one thing, and then when u spend 40 minutes driving thru Houston traffic, they claim their free pass is actually 20$. I’m not very cynical, but I have the feeling this is a racially motivated policy, as it seems that the basketball court is more of a amenity that people of color tend to lean towards. Nonetheless, the whole experience left a horrible taste in my mouth, so I will stay at 24hour fitness where they do honest business and actually go by what is advertised.

Good gym and would get 5 stars… except that the culture in this place is like a daycare. 1 out of 10 people here will unrack their weight or put dumbbells back where they go, etc. good luck finding 2 dumbbells the same weight aside from the 100+ DB’s. There are no signs saying the rack weights after use, which is fine I guess, the least LA Fitness could do is have an employee putting the weights back.

I am the Sales General Manager of this location.
Looking through some of these reviews from the past several months, some good, some bad.
The main review I am seeing is concerning our A/C. I assure, we are working hard to try and get the ball rolling with the A/C repairs. I know it is hot upstairs, I can attest as an employee that works out here every day, that we are doing everything we possibly can as staff members to make it comfortable for our members.
We have brought in GIANT box fans to help with air circulation and cooling of the upstairs area.
I have been working diligently on getting the location to its best since 12/20/2021 when I was assigned this location as the General Manager.
If there are any more concerns regarding this issue or any other issue. Please, come see me and address the issue with me personally, I will be more than happy to assist in any way possible if I have the capability to do so. My desk is always open.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.

That facility was clean I just don't know how often they test the water pH for the whirlpool all of the facilities I've been to has foam with Specks of dirt in the whirlpool this is not acceptable it doesn't indicate that they really checking the chlorine levels more than once a day LA Fitness do better

How rude! I have been a LA Fitness member since November 2021 (which I was well notified of while here today) and have gone to this gym several times, along with other "Signature" LA Fitness gyms in different states - which we asked to have the best membership at time of sign up so we "could go to any LA Fitness in the USA". Not to mention, we pay for two singles instead of a family plan (more expensive that way), so we independently have full benefits and can bring additional guests and pay almost $400 a month for a trainer. The young man (King) at the front today felt the need to notify me that my membership did not include their gym, but "they would let me in today". It was the way he said it that set me off. I was clearly headed to Yoga class, had been there before, and he said it so condescending that I was instantly angry. He wanted to "let me know so the next person didn't charge me" an admission fee to be there. I immediately called my normal gym (where they know me well) to have them check my membership. The manager at this hoity-toity gym (Andrew) notified me that I could pay him an additional $52 (per person) for the upgrade to "Elite"/signature status and then be charged an additional $5 a month per person to be able to use their gym. I personally do not find this gym worthy of even $1 extra. You have to drive into a parking garage to get to it (hard to find the first time), it's too close to high rises, you have to get your parking validated to not get charged to park, you can only stay 2 hours or get charged parking, the locker rooms and bathrooms are in the basement, the stairs in the garage to get to the gym are creepy and feel like murder central, the locker room smells like mold, the front staff is unfriendly, and the gym doesn't have a welcoming feeling. I disliked this gym before this issue, I dislike them even less now. The only positive about this gym (and the only reason we ever go here) is because we like the guy that teaches Yoga there (Catlin). He is similar to our old Yogi in Florida. Not we have to debate if we even want to go back to this horrible gym. If you are wanting to go to a LA Fitness, try any of the others, I'm sure they will be better than this one!

"Signature" means nothing anymore. Found a sign at the front yesterday that towels are not $2 or $10 per month. Learned that older contracts still get towels, but the more recent contracts (my spouse) included UNDISCLOSED fine print allowing them to discontinue service. This is clear breach of the Texas DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES act. Make a good class action. Otherwise, this location's wifi is horrible, and the televisions usually offer only one channel. Yesterday it was ESPN. This company is run by corporate pinheads.

Great gym if you want to sweat! A day doesn't go by that the A/C barley pumps at the peak of the day. The elevator is always broken. Also always leaving the door open for the humidity to come in. One of these days someone will passout from being over heated and it's not because they are having a heavy workout. Lawsuit waiting to happen. I love LA Fitness but this particular location needs to step it up. We are getting into the hot summer weather in Houston.

One of the benefits of joining a Signature LA Fitness club like here is because of towel service. Nothing fancy, just a large white towel.

However this location is no longer offering that for new members. Instead you pay $20 down and $10 a month. For a towel. This club is trying to nickle and dime you for something that used to already be included in membership.

Also, for those who have mobility issues or problems climbing stairs, do not come here. They have an elevator that is always out of service.

The entire administration is very failed and does not know the system. I subscribed and met with 5 employees and each employee spoke differently from the other regarding my contract, the duration of the contract and the method of payments

Yes, I do not know English well, but when I signed the contract and the employee told me that I could cancel the contract at any time

And after two months I came to cancel the contract and they told me that I have to pay a month in advance and they told me that the employee was wrong with me and with other clients, well, we are not guilty

The best thing I like about this gym is the staff. Their customer service is great. The gym is renovated with amenities for everyone. It's not the bestest gym in town but they make good use of their space. They have plenty of equipment so you don't have to wait for use of the machines. If there's is one bad comment I can say is they don't have a smoothie bar....unless I haven't seen it yet. "where is the smoothie bar". Other than that, the gym environment is great the members are sociable. Try it out for yourself. 😎🇻🇮

Easily the best LA fitness location inside the loop. Clean new equipment. Only negative is no bumper/round plates but this is true of all locations except the one in Westchase. Also many weak clients... So fragile they can't put away the weights when finished. Again this is true of every location though 🤷‍♂️
