I’ve been a member of this gym for several years and have always loved coming here. However, I’ve recently noticed the cleanliness has gone downhill. The women’s restroom has been out of toilet paper multiple times during my visits, and the sinks don’t drain properly—which suggests some plumbing maintenance issues. The return air grilles are also covered in dust, which is pretty concerning for an indoor fitness environment.

I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that management takes notice and brings the facility back to the clean and well-maintained standard it used to have.

I went in to ask about memberships and had a disappointing experience. The staff member I spoke with gave very short, low-effort answers and didn’t seem interested in helping. Instead of giving me clear information, he just told me to come back the next day. I also wasn’t offered a tour of the gym, which I would have expected when checking out a new place. The hours changing was enough to adjust too, since I originally signed up at this gym. Didn’t give too much notice of the change. Now people are playing loud speakers in the aerobics room so that it’s disrupting to other people who pay for the same membership. This happened on a Sunday too, and isn’t that why people have earphones so that we don’t disturb other ppl working out. I would like to see management at least implement that type of rule. People obviously don’t have common courtesy to do that on their own. They are the cleanest gym in San Antonio. That’s a big reason why I stay here for so long. Richard is amazing when dealing with a lot of members. A lot of their bikes don’t work in the bicycle room but other than those issues I am happy to adjust to most changes but for people that don’t have common courtesy, I do think rules should be implemented to ensure all members are happy. I enjoy this gym. Staff is friendly, and it is not too crowded most of the time. I usually go 4 days a week for the Aquafit class. I often wish the pool water was warmer, but I manage (although there have been times when I was shivering in the pool before and even during class). The location is convenient.

I have been going back and forth with the management trying to schedule a fitness assessment, which I’m paying for with my membership, and after months, still no appointment has been made. I called another location and the fitness director there redirected me back to the Leon valley location acting like I hadn’t already tried that. Unprofessional and poor management.

The staff here is so kind. Even if it part of their job to greet us when we enter that is my favorite part of my visit each time. Each one of the front staff needs to be recognized for their warm greetings as I'm sure most that walk in don't notice. Just know that is a big part of why I continue to come here and means a lot to me.
Their equipment is maintained very well too, if only the premises was larger to fit more machines but given the options I have no complaints. Sauna and locker rooms (mens at least) are also well maintained and each time I come in there's someone actively cleaning.
Others may have their complaints but as someone who has visited many locations across the US, this is one of my favorites.

Physical Training here was a waste of money. To begin, they apply high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign up. They tell you its only X amount but as you go through the process the price continues to increase for different reasons. I tolerated this because i was motivated to live a healthier life.

Now to the actual training. Like another commenter said, in the 6 months that I signed up, I saw 4 different trainers with each workout being highly inconsistent. Some were better than others but due to the high turnover rate you never get a proper program going.

The facility itself is okay, just don't bother with their PT at all. You're better off learning on your own than wasting money/time on this.

They've recently changed their hours, they're effectively closed on all holidays and only open from 8a to 5p on weekends. They even shortened their week day hours from 5a to 9p as well. Gym is a terrible place with constantly fluctuating hours and not worth it. Just go to the nearby crunch. It's 24/7 with better equipment and a cheaper membership.

I have been a member for years at LA fitness. It’s real disappointing that they are not open on weekends in the evenings, makes things a lot more crowded during the times they are open. It doesn’t feel like they are putting their customers first. I work until 6 on the weekends so that means the weekends I can not go to the gym. I would not recommend the Physical Training at the Leon Valley, TX. location. In five months they went through four different trainers. The club never contacted me to tell me a trainer quit or to set me up with a new trainer. Every trainer did different exercises and I was never able to get a consistent workout going. I talked to management and they gave me two free sessions but I didn't use them because the last trainer that she said was so great showed up the first session then didn't show up for the second session. I quit in disgust after that.

Do not come here… There has been car window break ins almost every morning for past new weeks and management chooses to ignore the issue. 3 major issues with this gym.

1. Me, my buddy, and several other people have had our locks cut off of our lockers and personal belongings stolen out of the locker rooms while working out. We presented this to management and staff, and the extent of their concern was printing out "crime watch" notices and posting them around. Apparently the cctv cameras are off limits to anyone who isnt a manager, although cross referencing check-in times and footage could easily reduce this down to a pool of individuals.

2. There doesn't seem to be custodial staff present on Sundays. Every Sunday that I've worked out here, the men's locker room be looking crazy. No soap, paper towels spilling out the trash cans, bathrooms blown up etc.

3. I'm convinced that 2 of the fitness studios have been out of commission since the place opened. There's a pilates studio, and another smaller workout space that I've never seen used. Although they seem to be fully furnished with workout equipment, the doors remain locked. It'd be cool if our membership dues paid for utilizing the entirety of the gym.

Aside from all that compalining, it's a nice gym. Lots of ambient light, good amount of free weights, and the grass in the turf area is always cut nice n short 😉

I've been to a good amount of LA fitness locations at this point, and this is by far my favorite. The field area is a huge plus, which it doesn't seem like many of the other locations have, and they have almost every machine I could possibly want, which are all well placed. I also saw more than a couple reviews complaining about the cleanliness of this location. I'm not saying they're wrong but I have yet to have a single problem with this location as far as that goes, but to be fair, I never use the pool and rarely use the sauna. Staff and trainers are super friendly, they'll talk to you if you want to talk, and keep it short if you don't. No complaints there whatsoever. I've been going to this gym for over half a year and overall, I'd highly recommend this gym to anyone. Pricing is about what you'd expect considering the facilities, and this was the first gym that I was genuinely satisfied with since moving to San Antonio.

I recently went in to La Fitness off of Bandera and 410 to check it out and see if it was the right fit for me and my service/working dog. I had the pleasure of sitting with Isaiah and getting a tour of the gym and the gym’s history. Isaiah and I also talked about our personal lives and it was refreshing to see him (Isaiah) take such interest in mine and my fur missiles story. With no actual intention of signing up and committing, Isaiah bent over backwards to help me feel as though the decision to reconsider and give LA Fitness a try was the right one. I really liked this place two years ago when they opened. In the past year the weights have disappeared so much that it's tough to find barbells. Other things seem to be missing too, such as kettle bells, though it's difficult to recall exactly what all is gone.

The gym is spotless, thanks to one female custodian. However, she doesn't clean the men's locker room (understandably). Therefore, the men's locker room has blackening floors and calcified showers.

It took them six months, but they fixed the men's showers.

Instead of the typical LAF racquetball court they have a pilates room and a HIIT room. However, they have never opened these rooms for use and instead use these rooms only to store perfectly good equipment.

Not a fan of 8:30am classes. It's the only time I have to work out and would like to be away from the crowd, as I'm stretching in weird positions. I'm aware that u guys have mats towards the back, but in the mirror room I can see my posture. I'm also aware u guys have mirrors in the weights area. I’ve been going to this location for about a year and half. And slowly over time it’s gotten worse. I go early in the mornings, and it is the worst. I’ve even tried calling to complain about events that happen there and management could really care less. Don’t bother going on Tuesday mornings to workout, cleaning crew blows bust from the floor with a leaf blower. I like to run knowing that I’m breathing clean air, instead of running and breathing all the dust/dirt from the floor. If you like using the sauna daily like me, don’t go Wednesday mornings because they turn it off completely to mop the floor. Like I’ve said before I’ve called management to see if it’d be possible for the cleaning crew to go in earlier to mop the sauna, but nothing has changed. The morning gym people like to use the sauna too. Forget enjoying the gym on the weekends, cleaning crew likes to leave the sauna doors open. But walk into the aerobics area, the place is filthy. Hand prints everywhere on the mirrors, hair and dirt on the floor.. just very disappointed in this location.

I visited the spa today. I couldn’t believe how filthy it was. As if it hasn’t been cleaned out over months. I could see the foam floating gray color and on the trim side inside the spa all the buildup like mildew. The dressing room like it’s never been mopped. I'm giving 4 stars for this location. The area is a bit smaller than the rest but non the less it's very nice. They do not have a basketball court but they do have a High Intensity Interval Training area that is state of the art. The AstroTurf is a big plus which includes a push sled and several tires to choose from. I came on a Sunday so I was able to try everything out with only a few people present. But I would like to see how it is on a busier day and if I would have the opportunity to utilize the tires and sled and ropes that are provided being that the area is small. I was also hoping for a juice bar but they didn't include that one at this location. All in all the experience was very good and the staff were very helpful. I'll be coming back and recommending to friends and family.

This is the best LA fitness gym I've been to, & Ive been to almost all of them in SA. The one MAJOR complaint I have is the sauna isn't hot at all, I can sit there 35 min no problem, I have to stretch and exercise to sweat in there. I now drive farther to the LA fitness on babcock/huebner because the sauna is actually hot there. Im big on the sauna. If they made it hotter in there - 5 stars for sure. I dont understand why they won't raise the temp, it would be improve the turn around in the sauna, people wouldn't be in there for 30+ minutes.

Great staff, nice gym, no basketball court so it’s far less busy. HOLY HECK PEOPLE PLEASE PUT AWAY YOUR WEIGHTS AND PUT THEM IN THE RIGHT SPOT. You all are the worst that don’t re-rack properly.

Its nice the missing star is only because of the hit or miss staff, how densely packed some of the machines are in the back specifically also this one in particular gets overruned FAST best times are early morning for low traffic other than that its nice. Another reason is the hot tub heating mechanism kinda works but its certainly just room temp although im sure thats just on maintainence.

This gym has fallen off due to theft and dirty men’s lockers. There are no 45 Lbs octagon plates or bumper plates anymore as well as all the other weight sizes. There are no more kettle bells as well. We are losing everything. This gym use to be amazing about a year and half ago. If we don’t get these things taken care of; I know my friends and I are going to go back to golds.

I hate to leave a bad review because we love the facilities here. However, Fox News always seems to be playing on the TV in the locker room. This is why I stopped getting excited about going to your gym. I go to the gym to relax, not to hear dangerous and violent ideologies.

I'm very happy with it. I only use the pool and the water is usually warmer than the multiuse more public pool I also use. It tends to be a little shallow for running but it works if I pay attention to where I am. It has always been clean, pool, shower and changing room. I find the staff is pretty typical, polite when treated respectfully and more abrupt, but never rude, if I am short. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
I must say that the whirlpools is out of order more often than working. Pain in my rotator cuff., Frankly

This location is so clean and well kept, the selection of equipment is great and front desk is always in a good helpful mood. Lily was also great help making sure I was able to make my payment on time due to my bank card issues.

Love the facility. But got charged for personal training I had opted out of. Really wanted to but it just wasn’t the right time to spend the money. Cancelled the training on Friday and still got charged on Monday. All I got was an “oops” and that I should dispute it through my bank. Never offered the refund or got an explanation how it got charged. So now I have a 30 day hold bc they didn’t do what they were supposed to. I’m m. It not a fan of places who play with peoples money bc it’s me thing guaranteed if I owe them they would get the money instantly. In fact when I told them what happened they logged in and cancelled the membership but I don’t know why they didn’t do that Friday when I cancelled. Even had the personal trainer asking where I was with n Monday bc he had no idea I cancelled on the previous friday. Facility is nice and clean so that’s a plus.

gym is clean and good vibe overall but they have so many vehicle break ins here and management says HEB wont allow them to have cameras or hire their own security. I just wish they did a better job of caring for customers vehicles.
