Signed up for a 3 day trial online. Walked over to try it out. Dispassionate desk guy just said I needed a driver's license to enter which I didn't bring with me and wasn't mentioned online when I signed up. Didn't offer to show me the gym or talk about their services. Just said no license, no trial and stared at me until I awkwardly walked out. Obviously not a gym that has any semblance of customer service or sales skills.

Came for a hopeful great workout session, but left 10 minutes later, cancelling my membership. Only at LA Fitness Katy – Cinco Ranch!

My wife and I had (until few hours ago) a family plan since June 2024. We have a son that is in College and lives in another state, so we decided to add a Guest privilege to our plan and pay an additional $20/month, even if he would use a couple of times in the summer. As they assign the guest to one of us in the system, his guest privilege was linked to my wife’s name.

However, when he is in the Summer or other holidays and would go with him the front deck would quickly check that the guest was exactly the same and that I was also a member and would let him in. Then we got to today: my son and I were excited to get back to gym as he came home for the Summer, but for my surprise and totally differently from the other visits the attendant say we did not have any guest privileges in our account. I reminded them we pay that additional monthly fee and that my son went there multiple times with me (not with my wife) without any issues. Even so, they were insensitive and then we asked them to check my wife’s account, and they finally found the guest privilege, but that my son would still not come in, as he was linked to my wife’s name.

I’ve reinforced that the guest was the same person and that I was also a member in the family plan. Then the manager came in and the hopes increased: I was wrong. After explaining all of that again, the manager suggested I transfer the guest privilege from my wife’s account to mine (despite both of us being in the same family plan) and that the guest fees would be transferred from my wife's account to mine and I immediately agreed.

However, to do the change, they required me to pay $27.50 for an upgrade and the manager could not waive that. At this point, with such ridiculous situation I’ve tried a last time to explain: my wife and I were in the same family plan, my son was the paid guest on the account and that I was not bringing a new guest and that he entered the gym with me multiple times before and if he could get in with me since I would not agree to pay an upgrade fee that was totally unfair and unnecessary.

Eventually, tired and perplex with such non-sense situation and total lack of flexibility of the manager I ended up cancelling the membership right there. It is really unfortunate to see how LA Fitness can treat a customer that it is with them for more than a year and have so unprepared management, zero consideration with customers as well as the lack of consistency on how they handle their family plans.

What a disappointment, LA Fitness! You could do differently and much better!

At this point I want to change gyms bc why do you guys take so long to fix equipment? There is a vital machine i use in my work out routine STILLLL out of service (hip abduction) after what appears to now be months. Why??? I have never seen this at any other gym and I’ve worked out at plenty yet this is NOT the first time I’ve seen this gym take forever to service a piece of equipment. There is already so few machines this gym even offers for legs/glutes and they are always occupied and it’s always a waiting game to even use them when I go there…now I have to wait for you guys to fix the machines too? Also some of the newer people that work here have a bad attitude and not that helpful. They just sit around and chat and play on their phones.

Notable, it is clean. has free weights and machines, the demographic are local, and that is where it ends. Front desk are vicariously there, they are on their phones, don't greet, I rarely ever have any of them interact, except one young lady that smiles and says hello and enjoy your workout. personal trainers have perfunctory friendly attitudes, turnover seems high, I see new faces there all the time. The gym gets crowded with cliques of kids, sometimes the gym runs hot " temperature" Lacks the proper vibe of a physical training facility. I don't recommend this L.A fitness.

Feb 2025 Note; do NOT join LA Fitness on W Bellfort in Richmond TX . It is always filthy. Showers have clumps of hair in shower drain ( same hair there for days)...so it's not cleaned regularly. Pool has black mold on sides. The jacuzzi is nasty too. Today. Manager ignored my complaint of assault by two teenagers in pool area. I won't be back.

It is always hot, as they cannot / will not adjust the ceiling fans for the season. If you want a great sweat, stand in here for 2-3 minutes, no workout needed.

I was visiting from Dallas to Katy during Thanksgiving weekend and thought of visiting this gym though there is no LA fitness within 5 to 6 miles in Katy in fact there is no LA fitness Branch in Katy.
Katy is a big city and still LA fitness didn't think of opening a decent fitness center in Katy pathetic.
The gym is a very small area compared to what we have in DFW or at least in Frisco/Plano cities.
Even the smallest LA fitness in our area has sauna/spa/swimming pool and basketball facility.
This one doesn't have anything.
Beside that the equipment is very limited and if there are quite a few people in the gym you need to wait for your turn which is a big turn off.
I won't be visiting this location again, especially if I have to drive 8 miles from Katy to Richmond.
Houston is really going down the drain.

I love LA fitness gym, it’s convenient, clean, and just enough, however, the fans are too strong and don’t make working out enjoyable, sometimes I get too sweaty working out, and the wind from the strong fans pretty annoying and uncomfortable. Kind of lame. I still can’t understand how an entire room is closed since opening day. They have a pelotes room that’s never opened, yet, they have no sauna either. Sounds like a great opportunity.

Also, it’s pretty annoying that you have cleaners, cleaning, ALL DAY LONG. They’ll mop the floors 20x a day, but won’t pick up a single weight or put them back. They literally mop behind the treadmills while your using it, making it very dangerous to get off.

Free weight section is a mess. Kids have no gym etiquette. Now get off my lawn. Arrr

Entire workout room is still closed. Never been used since gym opening. Everyone wants a sauna, but this gym just wastes an entire room.

Female cleaning staff constantly in men’s room walking around. They don’t speak English so they have no idea what you’re saying whenever you ask them to leave.

The amount of teenagers present is even worse. On the phone. Vaping in the gym. Pissing everyone off. This gym is an absolute joke. I’d cancel if there was something closer to Fulshear for a decent price and decent equipment.

Reliable gym, hardly ever any issues, only ever seen 1 machine broken for longer than a couple days. During the day it's never very crowded, but evenings it gets busy, most machines aren't open at that time.

I went there to get information and sign up. The second I walked inside their building the first thing I noticed is the STRONG BODY ODOR like sweaty dirty armpits and something else. Disgusting! LaFitness, ever heard of air purifiers, neutralizers, and fresheners, to keep your building smell fresh. The receptionist were just ok and not that friendly and didn’t really know much. The two guys responsible to show new members around and talk about their gym and new memberships, one arrived at 9:00 and was not that friendly. He saw me talking to the receptionist who doesn’t know everything and he didn’t bother to greet and talk to me and the other guy showed up 20 minutes late so I had to walk around to check the building by myself. That was it for me. I am huge on reviews and after reading the negative reviews here of unhappy frustrated members THERE IS NO WAY I’ll sign up. I got a negative vibe while inside the building.

This is getting ridiculous someone needs to figure out who the manager in charge of these odd timings is. The gym used to close at 8pm on weekends which is already absurd but now they close their doors at 7pm. With how many members I’ve seen still entering the gym at 9-10pm on weekdays, there is no reason for them to be closing obnoxiously early especially on a weekend. It makes it even harder to finish your workout if you don’t have time during the day and work out in the evenings. I’ve been going to this gym 3 years and I’m extremely dissatisfied with these times. I think the gym should be open til at least 11-12 every single day cause at this point I might just got to one of the many other gyms that offer decent respectable closing times. It’s causing extra buildup around closing times where it’s even harder to finish your workout on time. This is outrageous.

I’m a member of this center and I lost when someone broke my locker. I reported to the staffs but they are really bad and don’t care the theft. They just told me to call police and there isn’t anything they can do for the member. It’s really frustrating and don’t try to com this center. 👎👎👎👎👎

Today at noon, somebody broke the padlock of my locker. I reported it to the manager, and she told me that it happened to someone else an hour ago. They told me that the best solution is to make a report to the police, so that they can check the security cameras. I hope the administration betters their security so that it doesn't happen again.

Overall, I like this gym. I appreciate that there are multiple weight assisted machine so you don’t have as long a wait - of course unless people are playing on their phone or staring off into the sunset.

My gripe is the lack of wall clocks and the ones they do have are the small analog and the ones on the screen that’s very difficult to see. I am also a member of EOS Fit and I love their BIG digital wall clock on each wall, so no matter where you are in the gym you can easily see it. This is so important for me as someone who tries to pay attention to my rest time and there’s been a few times I have left my phone and watch at home, so I rely on the clock a lot . It’s frustrating enough for me to voice it and hopefully they can make some addition to the gym not only for me but I’m sure for other patrons as well.

Writing after 1 yr 3 month experience & in good spirit to let other customers know how this business is handled. Writing this as no choice left as it’s very difficult to reach training instructor or person you deal with once you sign up. Staff would not return texts, phone calls at LA F locations but will promise you that they will do. Their promises don’t mean much so don’t count on it.

Beware of sign up staff and personal training staff tactics to lure you in to their poor facility and subpar ethics. After you sign up, your instructor, personal training manager, front desk may be changed few times so you can’t keep anyone accountable. Most trainers not available outside of your office hours. Equipments are new but sauna is not working for months.

Another issue is, I was keep getting charge on my credit cards after personal training time (6 month) expired. When I asked to pause, manager Marcus cancelled it without knowing my next steps. Then told me he will reinstate but relocated to Cinco Ranch and would not answer phone calls or multiple messages. It’s worse customer service and outright poor ethics... Wish to report to corporate if they are actually reading.

This gym has several challenges that outweigh the good. I've been going here for three years and seen so much turnover with the staff. Apparently gym culture is working out in your underwear and sandals. They lack equipment so getting a workout in is very challenging because you have to stand next to it waiting for the person on their phone to finish. The last straw for me was when someone broke my lock in the locker room and stole my personal things. I spent almost an hour in the front of the gym trying to cancel my cards while telling the manager (I think) what happened. They said there were similar incidents reported recently and they don't have access to the security footage. So I'm not sure why they have cameras if they can't leverage them to protect the people here. I was disappointed how they handled the whole situation and not making me feel like they cared that I was robbed at their facility. I was going to have to run my own investigation and work with the Fort Bend Police Department if I wanted a chance at getting help. When you don't enforce rules and lack structure you attract the wrong employees and clientele.

I had ~25 personal training sessions on my account that got wiped without any prior warning on expiry. I got the classic explanation that the expiry clause is in the fine print! If only they realize that customer retention could go a long way in terms of revenue, than trying to just fleece first time customers with false promises.

Also, they make it hard for you to cancel membership, so your money keeps flowing in. While they are open on weekends, they will let you cancel only M-F with a Manager. Reason given is ID verification is needed, but not sure what exactly is a Manager doing on verifying ID that any other staff cannot. Alternatively, you are asked to print, complete and mail in the cancellation to headquarters - again just making it inconvenient so as to delay cancellation!

I personally had a racist problem with a man from the gym who attacked me and verbally offended me by making violent and obscene gestures, he hit my bag and raising his voice I made complaints and the staff checked the cameras, they did not let me see them and the answer was no. It looked good, obviously I canceled my membership and left, but the guys who serve are practically children. At the front desk there are no trained people or any type of security and violent people come and the gym does absolutely nothing. Everyone must take care of themselves, for me it is not a safe place.

My experience with LA Fitness has been frustrating and disappointing. I signed up for a family membership and personal training, with clear terms discussed. I was assured that I'd only be charged $720 for 12 lessons, and these sessions wouldn't expire due to my busy schedule.

However, I soon found out that they were deducting $720 from my account every month, which was not what we agreed upon. When I attempted to resolve the issue, I discovered that the manager who initially helped me had left, and the new manager promised a refund but failed to deliver. This pattern repeated with yet another manager.

The third manager I spoke to was unhelpful and insisted that I should have read the contract thoroughly. I believe this is not only misleading but also dishonest on LA Fitness's part.

It's disheartening to see how this place operates, seemingly more interested in collecting commissions and quick turnover of managers than in providing transparent and customer-focused service. I strongly advise others to scrutinize their contracts with LA Fitness and be cautious when dealing with their management.

Overall, my experience has left me disappointed and frustrated, and I cannot recommend LA Fitness based on my encounters with them.

–If a Sauna or Steamroom is a must for you, go somewhere else. This location is new but seems to have acquired run-down equipment for their Sauna (infrared) and Steamroom. The infrared dry-sauna has been down for months now without any indication as to when it may be back up and running. The steamroom is super inconsistent, and if you try and ask staff for any guidance as to when it may be available they do not (or will not) offer any guidance no matter how polite you ask. I can totally understand wanting to conserve and not keep them running all the time, but at least give the customers a hint as to when to show up or not to show up if you intend on using the steamroom. Employees feel very dismissive or seem like they're nervous about giving any answer on the issue. Just give me a hint as to when to come or not to come for the steamroom!!!

I will be freezing my account for the foreseeable future (not cancelling entirely yet).

Turned on the sauna and grabbed a quick workout. 8:35 a lady comes into the mens locker room, opens the sauna door and tells me I need to leave for 15 minutes while she cleans. I explained I only have 10 minutes before I need to go and to please clean in 10 minutes. She said she was cleaning now and if I dont like it tell the girl up front. So I did. Why do they blast the fans when it’s cold outside!?! Also when the equipment breaks down they take months to fix the most simple issues. An examples is the leg extension in the attached image, it’s been 2 months now and that machine is so popular. There also isn’t a sauna here and there is a room called “Pilates” that has literally never been used and could’ve been used for so many different things to attract more customers and make the gym better. The only great part about the gym is the staff that works there which is why I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1.

I absolutely HATE THIS GYM. A bunch of unsupervised high school kids taking up space ALL hours of day! Believe me I’ve tried avoiding them by going early in am and they are still there as most are home schooled.We need another gym in FULSHEAR ASAP. I’m totally over this nuisance!!!!

Hi, If you are looking for the fitness, don’t join LA Fitness. They server is very disappointing. The staff is not helpful at all. If you got any problems or issues, you are on your own. If you call for help or talk a little bit more, they will hand off the phone for you. They are not even want to listens what you say. Believe me, this is what I have a situation. I try to stop my membership since I am busy and don’t have time to be there recently (about 3.4months), just cancel in the beginning of months right after they charge my membership fee, sorry you won’t get refund. The staff told me you loss your money if you don’t come. They said if I keep asking and cost their problems, they don’t want me to come anymore. I guess they got too many members, don’t care about you. They just hand off the phone. Sooo bad and so sorry for their business, really bad feel to be there.

I’ve spent about a year and a half before I decided to review this place. It’s not a perfect gym in anyway BUT for the price I can’t complain. I actually live closer to the Aliana location but I make the drive here for a reason. The main reason I go out of my way is there is far more equipment vs Aliana. There’s 5 power racks with platforms. 6 platforms if you include the one on the turf each of those have their own set of bars and bumper plates. There’s more benches and the free weights are USUALLY where they need to be. There were a few times the equipment would be down for a week or two but they eventually do get fixed. I imagine the delay is due to ordering parts which isn’t a huge deal there’s always something else to use as a replacement. The downsides there are ALOT of high school - college kids ego lifting in the PM starting around 4-5. They’re not a nuisance but they do lift in groups of 4-5 which can be annoying as they’ll tie up the equipment for at least 30-40 minutes at a time.

Generally if your looking just to get a 1 - 1.5 hour in during peak hours it’s doable and without too many hold ups. The staff is friendly and don’t mind loud noises. I drop 400 pounds from the top of a deadlift next to the front desk and they don’t ever bat an eye. Other than those minor gripes there’s not much else to complain about unless you wanted to be nit picky.

The training program has multiple trainers. All were good but I received the BEST training from Trainer Frank Y. He was professional, knowledgeable, thorough and caring. I saw results quickly which were also noticed by others. Thanks Frank!!

Pros: Very clean and a fresh new big box gym in the area. Easy to get going, as you are not waiting for any equipment you want to use as they are several options for every body part. Ton of cardio machines, A/c is effective, so you may not sweat as much :) Cleaning Staff thorough and Front office staff/Operations Denise is courteous.

Cons:Not much, need a proper Trap bar though. For those of us who use it to do safe deadlifts it is a must have equipment.

Terrible kids club experience. As soon as I walked in with my kids she told me I needed to come pick them up early. 5 minutes into my work out she called me and said I needed to pick them up because they were coughing too much. I requested to see the policy because my kids had no temperatures or runny noises and they hadn't coughed all day. My 9yo reports that she was very rude and she had to do the care taking for my twins. I've used kids club for 7 years and this is my first time experiencing someone who appears to not like children.

Decent gym compared to other LA fitness locations across town. It is clean and well taken care of. LA Fitness used to have racquetball and basketball courts, you know, for those who like to play sports. Instead, they have a large mirrored area with turf for social media influencers to pose and post.

I wanted to love this place, however the GM Eli made it VERY HARD to do so. He gives racist vibes every single encounter and this last time was it for me. I brought a guest who have never used the 7 day VIP guest pass (only the regular 3 day guest pass that he got BEFORE I signed up for my membership) and Eli said that since he used that one he can’t use the VIP Guest Pass that I pay for . This is the worst gym ever !

Not sure how this gym has 4 stars. It’s pretty mediocre and incredibly frustrating.
- dumbbells are constantly misplaced. Employees don’t bother to return them. They spend more time sitting at the front, than actually up-keeping the order of the free weights.
-machines are constantly out of service, broken, or missing pieces.
-certain attachments seem to always disappear. Literally all the rope extensions are missing now, but management can’t even run to academy to replace them.
-dumbbells top out at 100lbs. 24 hr fitness dumbbells top out at 125 lbs.

Not first time.This place is disappointing dirty. There are some teenagers using the lap pool as their party pool. They scream and play after school. They even try to break in the bathroom for fun. They do every stupid things in the pool except swimming. When I report the problem to the front desk. They seem to know it for long. I waited to see if they were cleaning it up but they just picked up the garbage bin without doing any cleaning. Can’t believe if people didn’t see the garbage in the pool and used the pool thinking it’s clean.I used to swim here. But need to find somewhere clean and safe.

I like the gym, good equipment for cleaning, the appliances work very well. I feel comfortable but since mid-May the fans have been turning on very high, it feels very cold inside the gym. And particularly I sweat a lot and on two occasions I have caught a cold. They must lower the fans inside the gym, it is very cold and it is NOT comfortable to train like this.

Never been told to get the F out of a place I pay to use because the staff hasn’t been taught to talk to someone with the respect they demand. Bunch of kids trying to run this place and are extremely unprofessional. I will be excited once the area grows a bit so there is another choice in a gym for me close to home. 0 stars for professionalism. 5 stars for the classes and instructors but 0 for the management and the kids who sit behind the desk “showing people around the gym.”

This location and their staff deserves 0 stars. This is the worst LA Fitness I have been to. They charged me 2 months extra on top of first and last month. Also when requesting refund the manager talked very rudely. I wish I never signed up with them. I would recommend to stay away from this location.

When we first signed up we were told we could cancel at any time. The only reason we signed up was for my 14-year-old son who needed to work out before starting football. We told him it would only be until school started and he said sure no problem. Once again he was lying. I found out that the same manager has done this to multiple people. I will never recommend this place. They will not cancel the contract no matter what. They still bill my credit card even though I’ve canceled it.

They are robbing people. We were charged for 2 months extra even though we told them we have a medical condition which might not allow us to use facility. When we cancelled after their 6 month period they charged our credit card for 2 months services. When we requested for refund they rudely signed us off denying any refund.

When talked to another staff member they told us that we could have signed up for $35/month with 2 family members allowed. The person who worked with us tricked us in getting us pay 10/mo extra. I am happy to post this review update! Thank you to corporate from #LAfitness for fulfilling the order to send the lift to clean the HVAC vents and ceiling fans! It feels so good to workout and know you’re breathing dust-free and clean air. #cleanliness #qualitymatters

A year ago…3/2021:
This location has been open 1 year, and I’ve notified the staff about the dust building up in all of the HVAC vents and ceiling fans, and the multiple lightbulbs (about 25%) which need to be replaced.
And I’ve asked: “When is the last time management sent a club audit report and a work order to corporate?”
Unfortunately, #LAFitness “corporate doesn’t send the lift to newer facilities because they’re focusing on the older facilities”.

Everything is so good here,
I don’t give the 5 stars cause someone there had the great idea to put all rowing machines of the same brand( MATRIX)
But when you look up on youtube crossfit competitions or rowing competition indoor
You’ll see everyone uses concept 2(the best brand of rowing machine)
but the rest of the gym is perfect!

After more than a year and a half of going to this location, if I could give this place zero stars, I would and only after one horrible encounter with 'Matthew B.', who manages the personal training. After trying to force my husband and I to sign up for an 'onboarding' session (sales pitch for PT), he was extremely rude and starting cussing at us, told us we 'looked like we needed help', and said that I needed to 'prepare my body for a baby'. During the discussion, he also talked down and was extremely rude to his female staff, which is extremely uncalled for and disappointing.

In addition, he called COVID-19 'fake' and discounted it, which is extremely dangerous misinformation. He claims to be a nutritionist, but he doesn't even have a degree.

I would never, ever want to spend my money with a misogynistic human like him. It's really upsetting after I had only positive experiences here until this encounter - my husband and I will absolutely be canceling our membership and going elsewhere.

I hope this review helps others avoid his hurtful and unnecessary lashing out, as you can read from many other reviews referencing his name. And, I hope LA Fitness takes action by firing him.
