Great experience for my first time playing Live Oak Golf Club. Everyone was professional and friendly except for the Bobcat on #17. We should not have hit our ball into his den.

Very nice course, a little pricey, it is totally ridiculous that they won’t let you take golf cart out to parking lot to load or unload golf clubs

Beautiful course, very green. Fairways in great shape. Greens good except for golfers not repairing divots.

Unfortunately, my recent experience at Live Oak Golf Course was very disappointing. Our round was significantly delayed by a group of players ahead of us who were playing from the back (black) tees, losing numerous golf balls, and often taking multiple shots from the tee box. Despite calling the pro shop to report the slow play, no marshal ever came to address the situation. The lack of course oversight and attention to pace of play made for a frustrating experience. Regrettably, I do not plan to return.

First time playing here. Would recommend. Minimal interaction with the staff but they were friendly. Golf courses all assume you’ve been there before so no one is really offering unsolicited advice. Just speak up and ask. Range was busy prior to the tee time but easy to get in and out. Can’t wait to go back

Too darn expensive for the normal guy! Beautiful course. Miss seeing Mr. Coody out on the course!

First off, the staff were extremely welcoming and professional. Very busy Saturday, pace of play was fine. Noticed the Marshall out a a few times making sure everyone was staying up with their times. Beverage cart was seen multiple times, which was great. All in all, great value for the money, will return soon.

$90 for a weekday round for one golfer is absurd. They charged my 10y/o boy with DS to ride along and the guy at the counter was not pleasant. I will not return the this over priced place.
As far as the course, it was in fairly decent shape, beautiful fairways, and difficult greens…course is 3.8 stars.

This course is absolutely beautiful! For a public course, this course is a must play. Fantastic practice facilities. I was here just visiting but I'll bet I come back to play. If you play it you won't be disappointed!

Great golf course. First time playing here and enjoyed it very much. The pro shop staff were very friendly at check in and I also got help loading my bag! They even made sure I had waters for my round. Awesome experience and can’t wait to go back and play it again!

Nice course, just rude staff. We play all over Texas on our family vacations, never been more rushed in my life. There was not a group behind us on the front 9, yet we are playing too slow. Not impressed, we will spend our money elsewhere…

Course is fine over priced for the area. Only course in and around Abilene that doesn’t do military discount. Can play Shady oaks in Baird for a better price and just good of a course.

Golf course is in pretty good shape all things being considered after renovations and the bridges look great! The one drawback being pace of play is especially slow on the weekends and Fridays like 5+ hour rounds. It seems like the new management is trying to get as many people out there as possible which is causing some bottlenecking on some holes. If you’re going to be sending out 200+ golfers it would be really helpful to have a Marshall out there at all times reminding people to keep pace or even a starter, instead of just occasionally sending someone out to take a look. If that issue gets resolved it will be a 100/10 experience and you can’t beat the price but as it stands a 5+ hour round is pretty tough.

Amazing layout; elevated tees, hills, turtle back greens, mesquite lined fairways, gullys protecting greens. Reminds me of Fazio foothills at Barton Creek. What a nice surprise in Abilene

Course is fun to play. Clubhouse attendant was rude and tried to tell us we could only play nine at 430 on a Monday (We were the only group on the course). No staff was even there when we made the turn at 615. Not sure why carts have to be in at 8 when the sun sets at 9pm and no one is there.

$60+ for a twilight round for aerated greens and a temporary green/teeboxes due to a bridge being out, the other bridge isnt far from doing the same.

Probably done playing here. Either go spend another 20 bucks as a guest at one of the private courses or go play Maxwell for half the price.

Had small group and was treated great. The course is in perfect condition and is just a fun track. The staff was the true gem, very friendly and helpful. I finshed a round and came out to a flat tire, the staff changed and would not take a tip. Our group planed on hitting several courses but once we played Diamondback we stayed and played 3 days twice a day. This course is worth the time.

This is the "TEE TIME TRUCKER"...........and I play all across the Country and I really LOVED THIS COURSE! It needed a little TLC, but the Greens were nice and rolled pretty true and quick. Fairways were dried out a little bit and the Bunkers had to be played like you were hitting out of the Fairways, but this is a Course that I would most definitely play again! And if you're looking for a CHALLENGE..............well........you've come to the right place! Hope you know how to place your Ball for a second shot, because you're going to need to here! HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOUR ROUND!

Course is awesome played a few a times…. Reason for three stars is club house attendants and marshals are extremely rude and price.. can drive west and play all weekend for price of one round here and also drive east for and play all weekend for one round here.. with better service and more courteous attendants

Had a great time at this course. I am from Lubbock and this was the first time playing here in Abilene. Only reason for the three stars was the cost. For two people and a cart, on a Tuesday morning 0920 tee time, it was $150. It is off season currently (12/19/2023). The price caught me by surprise for this area, but im guessing this is the nicest course in Abilene. I'd play here again, but only during the prime summer months, but I couldn't see myself paying much more during prime months.

Played here July 31. Course is in excellent condition. The range is a real pleasure to hit balls. The grass here is plush and green. No need for a tee on par 3’s the ball sits up nicely. Greens are good would be nice if people could fix their ball marks. The carts are in great shape. Couple of the bridges could use replacing. Other than that I would have to say this is in my top 5 public courses in Texas that I have personally played.

Beautiful landscape and views, blend of west Texas and hill country. Course is in fantastic shape, country club quality fairways and greens get plenty of water. Great practice facilities. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced drinks. Overall an excellent experience.

I have enjoyed playing at Dimondback for years. It is the best public course in the city of Abilene. The greens were hard with the dry weather but the course was overall in good shape. If your in town give it a shot.

this is q really nice corse and i would give 5 stars but if you are going to charge $158.00 for 2 people to play you should have a cart girl and good food i just think it is a joke to be one of the most expensive courses in texas and have the worst services available to your patrons the corse is extremely nice just wish for my money i got better service

Diamondback National golf course is without a doubt the best/nicest public golf course that I have ever played. It is hand down better than many country club courses in West Texas. If I lived in Abilene, I would play it 3-4 times a week. Mr Coody, you have hit a grand slam with this course.

I missed the left turn into Diamondback, GPS was a little bit confused. I booked at 350p tee time on Friday and drove from Weatherford after work. The gentlemen in the Pro Shop got me setup and I got started a little early. The course was awesome. Great layout, challenging, greens were good. Overall 10/10 experience here at Diamondback National. They even let me walk an additional nine holes. No beverage cart, but I always bring my own powerade and water. It was very peaceful to take in the views and play a little golf. Come play Diamondback National!

Great course. Greens and fairways very well kept and well watered (saying a lot for Abilene!). Some challenging holes with water in play on about 6 to 8 holes, changes in elevation on several holes, and interesting undulations on several greens. Harder than your typical public course but fun to play. Staff excellent. Twilight rate after 3. $36. Not bad. Definitely recommend.
