I was looking for a workout regimen beyond circuit training and random free weights that would minimize injury – that was paramount – and would generally make everyday life easier. A friend exposed me to “functional training,” and I realized that was exactly what I was searching for. I also realized that I really needed a coach; not a personal trainer per se, but someone who would coach me on proper exercises and technique, motivate me, and hold me accountable. MAPS Academy’s small group strength training classes were a perfect match – individualized instruction in a small group setting. MAPS trains everyone from young athletes to at least one octogenarian and everyone in between. I’m in between, and I love the place. Christian, Sam, and Derek are fantastic coaches and, if you stick with them, your strength and mobility will significantly improve and your everyday life will be a piece of cake in short order.

Great gym. Friendly staff and good selection of equipment. MAPS academy is great addition to the program and is excellent for improving athletic ability and functional strength. Wide mix of people, from high school and college athletes, to weekend warriors and older people trying to get back in shape. MAPS academy side is open to the public and can be a bit intimidating for new people, but staff will show you everything and you be comfortable in no time.

I admit that I thought functional training and corrective exercise were fad buzzwords until I had my first session here. These guys have an impressive amount of knowledge. They do a comprehensive assessment and give each person a completely different program depending on needs, goals and weaknesses. Highly recommend!
