The staff were great! Facility is very good with lots of options. Not as many options as there are two person options. It's on the pricey side though

Had a really great experience at Movement Grapevine today. I ended up getting a free 30-minute lesson with Kieran, and honestly, it helped way more than I expected. He was very friendly and he explained things in a way that actually clicked for me—especially with foot placement, planning routes, and proper technique.
Thanks a lot!

I went on a Thursday afternoon, was there 4-7pm and really don’t plan to ever go back. They got very busy in the top rope section by about 5:30 and it was hard to find a route to climb.
I am somewhat new to climbing so take with this as you will, but I do think that the grading at this gym is a bit steep in the jumps by level compared to the Design location. All the 5.6 and most 5.7 had next to no variety on the grips (super easy holds) and then as soon as you jumped to 5.8 the grips were rounded and smooth holds. I would expect to see more of a mix of the hand grip types similar to Design as that allows new climbers to challenge themselves more and build up strength better. I also do feel like there are way too many auto belays at this location, but that’s just my opinion as a TR climber. This location is definitely not for me.
Outside of the route complaints, the staff was exceptionally rude and did not even want to help. I asked them for the time (watch died and couldn’t find the clock) and where the yoga studio was (first time there). Even my friend was shocked at how rude they were.

Price for a visit was about $32 for the day pass and shoes. Got the same size shoes as I typically wear and they fit very tight. Belay for multiple stories, and bouldering on the second floor. Compared to a gym I climb in CA, the levels here are much harder for the same number level

Loved it when it was summit. But now they're charging separately for renting the harness, the shoe and a day pass, which is excessive as hell. So it ends up being about $80 for two people to go climbing now

Worst place to boulder during the summer. They never turn on the AC on the second floor. The bouldering area doesn't get any airflow. There are AC vents up there but no air comes out. If you want to boulder during the summer get ready to sweat to death.

Bouldering section needs more diverse setting. There's nothing but power boulders for average sized men with nothing for women, children or anyone short. Wouldn't recommend this gym to short climbers the setting isn't for you.

Idk why we pay 55-125 dollars a month to have no ac, not updated routes, overly crowded bars, no belay assist from the staff, paying extra for equipment even if we have a membership. Like seriously what are we paying for, summit was so much better.

Fantastic place, even for the newbies. Two of us went and only one of us has “climbed” before, the other had never done it. I’d like to give a big shout out to Josh for being very kind and super helpful! We had a full on course to be taught how to use the equipment and weren’t made to feel “dumb” even though some of it took some tries from each of us. They have a ton of climbing you can do alone or with two (or a group). Everyone in the gym was very kind and it was a more welcoming environment than I thought it would be. They have an actual gym as well with equipment if you want to get your sweat on in a different way. The establishment itself is very clean, they have a water bottle fill station, and they do sell climbing gear like shoes if you want to purchase it. They do classes as well, for things like yoga during the month and offer meetup type events which is always lovely! There is a ton of parking with a parked parking lot so don’t fret that. I will absolutely be back here, and wouldn’t even mind coming alone!

I have climbed here weekly for 2.5 years. It’s a great facility that is always well-cared for. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. There are tons of opportunities for multiple climbing disciplines. I especially appreciate how many auto-belays they have, as well as the creative route setting for all levels. They have successfully fostered a very positive and encouraging climbing community.

My children and I got harassed by some lady over and over again. When I bought up to management and their only resolution was, “come tell us when it happens again.” Took no action against the crazy lady who kept harassing us. When I brought up this lady should be kicked out and her actions towards kids documented with the cops, then it was “oh that’s not needed.” This kind of harassment resolution where people are allowed to continue to try and press their own views onto people who repeatedly asked to be left alone is not safe. Management doing nothing and even trying to talk someone out of documenting a case of harassment, especially around children, should not be be brushed off! I ended up having to leave to protect my kids. This gym is NOT kid friendly.

They have bouldering, belay and auto-belay, as well as a gym and yoga and climbing classes. Good range of amenities. It can get a bit crowded at times, so look at what times you see are typically crowded on Google and plan accordingly.
I got a monthly membership and go here once or twice a week on auto-belay. If you have your own equipment it's well worth the membership cost.

Drove out to the gym to boulder. Literally half of the bouldering area was roped off (not that I saw anyone actively resetting the area). They wanted me to pay full price for a day pass, to climb in half the wall. Their prices are already high in normal times. I asked for a discount and they refused. I escalated to a manager and they begrudgingly offered a 10% discount, which I refused. Waste of time to drive out here to this ripoff.

This gym is a great place to come and climb, regardless of whether you'd like to top rope or boulder. Grapevine caters to both pretty well with how big the space is. I do have some issues with Movement since they bought out summit. The prices are constantly increasing to the point where it's getting ridiculous. Originally prices sat around $20 for a day pass, which included free access to shoes and a harness. Now the day pass sits around $25 with shoes and harness being additional charges if you need them. Memberships has also been steadily increasing over the years, but at least if you climb multiple times a week, you'll be getting your money's worth. Before movement, there were a lot more opportunities for 50% off days, giving non-frequent climbers more affordable days to go climbing.

Amazing place absolutely amazing, but what would make it 5 stars for starters is organize the gym equipment and get some new stuff like a leg press also mirrors in the room with giant sliding glass doors and the yoga room would be amazing! And lastly the 3rd floor had gym equipment that should be brought down to the gym, the rock climbing is great but the gym could use some organizing new equipment more mirrors and equipment on the 3rd floor should be brought down to the gym. Amazing with rock climbing gym just needs more work! Also a chill zone with a tv would be nice.

Movement is an outstanding climbing gym with an incredible atmosphere and a welcoming community. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly, creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, whether you're a beginner or an experienced climber. The climbers and boulderers here are always willing to help out, share tips, and offer advice, making it a great place to improve your skills while having fun.
The facility itself is top-notch, offering not just climbing walls but a full weight and cardio gym, perfect for cross-training. There’s even a ping-pong table for when you need to decompress. The hours are convenient, and they offer great discounts throughout the week, especially for students—just give them a call to check for details.
Overall, the chill and supportive vibe at Movement makes it more than just a gym; it's a community where you can work out, hang out, and enjoy yourself. Highly recommended!

Movement as a company is seriously the worst. They lack customer service skills and need significant streamlining/accessibility work on the operations side .
This place was great when it was owned by Summit.
If you’ve got kids avoid this place. They have a youth club but my young teen was absolutely bored. I told her she had to stick it out for the month. When I went back to remove just the youth club part of her membership only weeks after we started we weren’t allowed to until the end of the following month because it was after the 25th. I couldn’t care less if they charge me upfront, but it would be nice if they gave a credit since we aren’t fully canceling her membership and we only started a few weeks ago. Side note, it was like moving mountains just to get the original thing set up for youth club because you can’t do it in house, it must go through the youth director. Oh, and don’t believe the website prices because movement changes them constantly so they’re likely higher than what is advertised. Also, if your kid is in youth club, you can’t just sign up like you would for any other gym class. You need to be assigned to a particular day. With kids ever-changing schedules that makes it more difficult to get all your sessions in.
The employees are nice and the location is huge. The movement corporation blows.

The place smells. The customer service received via Alex was worst than the smell. I checked in at the counter for a birthday party with Alex. I watches the video and filled out a waiver for my two minors under 12. After that I returned to the counter gave him the iPad and after waiting an additional two min I asked did I need to do something else or what am I waiting for. He said I'm checking this person into her party. I explained I was online first and he asked me to step to the side to complete the information. He took the registration iPad told me the party was upstairs. (Being my first time I didn't know the kids needed special shoes.) GOT ALL THE WAY UPSTAIRS only to be sent back down to complete check in listen to verbal instructions and receive shoes. It's hard to believe the one family of color He forgot 😔 how to check us in all of sudden but everyone else got shoes and speeches 💬 🙃 won't return

3 floors of pure joy and frustration. Aside from breathing in chalk dust and foot odor (unavoidable at a rock climbing gym), it's a very clean facility. The only issue I find is that I feel like I'm being watched constantly by a certain employee who has always popped into existence suddenly beside me to relay some incredibly crucial information about my lack of knowledge or awareness. While I do not disagree with the information relayed while I belay, I feel like the delivery of said information is a bit offputting as it makes me believe he has been lurking and watching and waiting for me to make an error in my skills. I would not mention it if it had only happened once, but there have now been two campaigns against my abilities on separate days. Am I a mark for this hunter of the shadows?

They need to stop removing or replacing auto-belays with top ropes, not everyone brings a belayer! This is why 4 star instead of 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Five star rating if and when more auto-belays.
I love rock climbing in this gym because they offer auto belays , otherwise you need to either take chances on a wrong fall while bouldering (no rather not) or bring someone who doesn’t mind taking turns belaying which is not always an option! I hope they do not get rid of auto belays otherwise I won’t be going anymore.
On Fridays there are no longer enough auto belays we are having to wait for the kids to give us a turn. Removing any auto belays is a mistake.. my membership will cancel if more are removed! Replacing aging auto belays is good but replace with another auto-belay not a top rope unless your employees will start belaying people (yeah right)!

This isn’t a bad gym, but there are a few issues that are making me reconsider my membership, which is a shame because I love climbing!
1. Movement needs a partner discount. I like to bring my partner occasionally, but the guest passes are pricey ($30 with gear rental). I try to take advantage of the free guest days, but they are pretty rare.
2. Needs a designated children’s area. I don't have a problem with kids, but they usually come in large groups, make a TON of noise, hog the walls, and run under you while you climb (which is dangerous!). I tried to wear earbuds to block out all of the screaming, but I was told to remove them. Thanks… Why not move all the 5.6 routes to another area?
3. Not enough auto belays… period.

I’m not sure if the quality has drastically changed since they switched from being Summit or what’s happened. But either way, it doesn’t seem like they care much for safety as almost 10 out of the 14 people there weren’t belaying properly. They use grigri and pre-tied knots so I guess that might be why they don’t seem to care much but it was not good. People don’t even seem to know the basics like PBUS. The ropes are extremely stiff, probably would benefit from new ropes. Considering those things I can’t justify their pricing. It’s probably one of the lowest quality gyms I’ve been to so far. It’s sad, and I hope that hasn’t happened to all the other locations.

This is a new state of the art climbing gym that opened last Saturday in grapevine. This will replace the old summit gym on mustang drive.
Well, this was much awaited and it's finally very exciting to have it. There are tons of top ropes for walls ft. 50+, whole floor dedicated to bouldering and another one for training boards. They also have a large area for regular gym equipment for weights, CrossFit equipment and machines. And more rooms for yoga and other classes. Feels like climbing heaven. With all the equipment brand new, the texture on the walls and shoes are gripping and it makes for fab climbing.
They have equipment for sale and for rent. The only thing missing is an espresso machine, then I would hang out there all day.
Since they became movement, there have been a few changes. No more 1 guest pass per month and no free great rentals for members.
I still love the gym. But I hope they don't take away any more perks that made this gym so phenomenal.
Btw, a shout out to the staff that has stayed through all the management changes and kept the same awesomeness! They play the best music here!

It is with a heavy heart that I feel compelled to share my disappointment regarding the recent changes at Movement, formerly known as the highly regarded Summit. What was once a beacon of excellence in the rock climbing community has undergone a transformation that, regrettably, falls short of its illustrious predecessor.
The decision to increase membership prices is a stark departure from the principles that initially drew me to Summit. It is disheartening to see a place that once prided itself on accessibility now making such a substantial financial commitment less attainable for its loyal patrons.
Equally distressing is the reduction in benefits, particularly the decrease in guest pass frequency. This change greatly diminishes the value of membership and has personally impacted my ability to share this experience with friends, potentially converting them into future members as I have in the past.
The scaling back of yoga classes, a component of Summit that many of us found to be an integral part of our holistic fitness journey, further compounds my disappointment. This reduction signals a shift away from a comprehensive wellness approach that initially set Summit apart.
Perhaps most disconcerting is the decision to charge members for rental gear. This change undermines the very essence of a membership, turning what was once a convenient inclusion into an additional financial burden. For individuals who require gear on a regular basis, this alteration effectively doubles the cost of climbing, a change that I find particularly hard to reconcile.
Lastly, the re-sale of heavily worn and, at times, even dangerously damaged rental gear is not only disheartening but raises serious concerns about the prioritization of safety. Allowing climbers to purchase and rely on such compromised equipment is, in my opinion, a serious lapse in judgment that places the wellbeing of members at unnecessary risk. Attached are some photos of the old rental gear Movement is selling back to its climbers.
The legacy of Summit, a gym that was synonymous with excellence, seems to have been lost in this transition to Movement. It is my sincere hope that Movement reevaluates these recent changes with a discerning eye towards their impact on the climbing community. Restoring the benefits and principles that initially made Summit a gem, along with a renewed commitment to safety and member satisfaction, would undoubtedly restore the trust and admiration many of us once held for this establishment.

Great climbing gym in Grapevine!
It’s a 3-story gym, which is the first I’ve seen, and I do like how each section is separated: (1) sport climbing + gyms, (2) bouldering, and (3) moon board/kilter board. It’s quite chill and quiet when you get to the moon board area haha.
There’s not a huge selection of bouldering problems so I imagine if I was a regular here, there’s a fair chance I would be able to go through all the problems in my range if I went even 2x week.
Didn’t get a chance to do sport climbing, but it looked like a pretty good selection! There’s also a speed climbing wall, which is fun!
There’s also a free weight and machine area, as well as a yoga room.
I worked for a couple of hours here and it’s a decent place to work! There’s a table on the first floor (but no outlets) and there’s more tables on the 2nd floor with outlets (though they’re more shallow so they feel like they’re more for phones or tablets than laptops.

Being in away from mountains and true hikes here in TX, this is just what the Dr. ordered. Dropped the Subi off at the dealer for maintenance and spent 3 hours climbing with my daughter. We scoped it out a couple days prior and got a great run down and tour from Nixon. When we returned Jessica covered ALL the ins and outs of prices and opportunities. Then Nathaniel picked up our orientation, belay training, and climb motivation. This will be my new gym until I leave the state. Thank you Movement (Summit) team!

Five stars for the gym. Zero stars for customer service skills. I've been climbing at summit gyms for almost a decade, and I've never seen a location have such a holistic lack of customer service.. the list of bad interactions is too long to put on a review, but the employees fundamentally do not understand how to provide the same quality service that literally every other location offers. Aside from customer service, I believe most employees also lack an understanding of how to keep climbers (mostly children) safe in their building. Again, this is specifically for the grapevine location, as I never have any issues at other locations.

I recently visited this climbing gym and had mixed feelings about my experience. While the gym has some great climbing routes and equipment, I found the cost of membership to be prohibitively expensive, especially in this economy. At $80 per month, I struggled to see how anyone could afford to pay for this membership without breaking the bank.
Furthermore, some of the employees were not very helpful and came across as rude. This was particularly frustrating when I needed assistance with a particularly difficult climb. I felt like I was bothering them when I asked for help, which was disappointing.
Overall, I think this gym has some good things going for it, but the high cost and unhelpful employees left a bad taste in my mouth. If the gym were to lower their prices and provide better customer service, I would definitely consider coming back.

Purchased the $30 for 30 days membership. A thorough orientation is provided for new members, and Nixon did a great job at explaining everything and offered advice too as we were bouldering. Facility is clean. Would recommend this place if you want to try something new!

Very first time indoor rock climbing.. very clean, huge, everyone is very friendly
They have yoga and well-equipped gym as well. Loved my first time rock climbing experience
They have the 30days for only $30 promotion going on now so I signed up for it. It is usually $80/ month. Great deal. Will be coming here a lot.
Thanks Stacey for thorough orientation and walk-through. Very informative and easy to understand explanation for a beginner like me.
First time I went was on a week day morning so there were not that many ppl but weekends are pretty packed.

Place is metal! The spray board upstairs is pretty awesome too. Climbs were a lot more difficult than in a few other gyms I've been in. Friendly staff and clean facility. On-sited a 5.11 and topped off big wall. $21.50 daily pass. Would go again.

Great hours!
And discounts throughout the week for students and others call beforehand.
Full weight and cardio gym inside.
Ping pong table to decompress.
Staff is funny and knowledgeable.
People who rock climb are generally chill so it’s a good atmosphere to hang out.

This place is great for working out. Best time to go is before 4pm on weekdays.
There are three floors in the building, the bottom floor has the wall climbing with auto-belays and manual belays. I'd say about 80% of the climbs are manual belay so be sure to bring a partner or be ready to wait during busy hours.
The second floor has bouldering available of all difficulties and is great for just quick reps. Plenty of seating while you're resting too.
The top floor is mostly for training but they have games up there and other things. Not sure how it all works, most people stick to the first and second floors.
Staff were super helpful for my first time. They do an orientation and offer to teach the manual belaying as an optional thing, if you bring a partner with you then definitely do this because you have way more options for climbs.

I didn't think my children would enjoy this very much because we have not done much climbing before but at 5 and 10 they had so much fun!
I encouraged them to be aware of their surroundings and take turns with the other climbers and I am proud of how well they did.

I have no rocking climbing ability, but I wanted to try something new out for our daughters. You sign a waiver, grab some shoes/harness, and attend their orientation, and then you are good to go! They had an absolute blast. Very clean and well organized facility with a weight room and yoga as well. Will absolutely be going back.

Beautiful location and fantastic routes. However this is all a veneer. Starting pay for front staff is $11 / hr. For a place meant to be upscale, this is laughably exploitative. I will not be patroning an establishment that cannot afford the cost of labor. Unethical. Unchristian.

Facility is nice: large bouldering area and top rope area.
Newcomer training is very slow (~45 mins.)
Summit the organization is the masters of misleading advertising though (i.e., advertising events as "member bring your free for free", but actually costing a guest pass.)

The new location is great! I only bouldered and there were a bunch of good routes in my ability range. I thought the ratings were a bit soft, but that's why they give a range.
I also bought new shoes, and the employee was super helpful with recommendations & different sizing options.
Definitely worth the visit

Great, modern gym. We only tried bouldering during our visit but the top rope and lead routes looked great as well. We learned that they had just hosted a competition so they still had some comp style problems up which were fun to try. There were a variety of problems for all skill levels and we liked the setting. The staff we interacted with were polite and friendly. Would come back again or check out other Summit gyms in the area.

This is the church of go up.
An exemplary gym of significant magnitude and glory.
This is a special place where if you crimp hard enough it will suffice for a personality.
Top rope, lead, kilter board, sweaty speed dating (bouldering), this place has it all. It is my home.
The walls are still super new and they scraped my knee so thats chill i guess...

BUYER BEWARE - USED CAR TECHNIQUES
Bought what I thought was 3 month pass... turns out it was a perpetual membership. A little over 2 weeks ahead of the end of the 3 month period, we began trying to contact the gym at the contact information we had on the billing emails we received. We also tried calling multiple times during this period to make sure it was not going to continue billing.
Now, the gym has billed my card for close to $400 because the information on billing goes nowhere. Today, I was finally able to get someone to answer the phone at the gym. I was told by the teenager on the phone, who would not get a manager, because the manager was too busy, that I didn't get a response because I was emailing the wrong email address... and was laughing as she said it.
There's a way to do business, and this is not it.

Awesome gym, the layout of the new Grapevine location is great. Top rope on the ground floor going about 3 stories high, bouldering on the 2nd floor mezzanine and the walls are shaped very well (better than Plano bouldering walls), and the 3rd floor mezzanine with circuit/practice walls. The gym on the ground floor is really nice with a nice variety of equipment spaced nicely. Also, the yoga room is on the ground floor near the gym with classes throughout the day.

Weight/strength work area with free weights, barbells, rowing machines and others, treadmills, rings and pull up bars, handful of kettlebells. This new Grapevine gym also has lockers and a couple showers in each restroom. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great new facility to join the Dallas climbing community. I may be biased since I've been going to Summit for a couple of years, but you do get the best value out of a Summit membership versus any other competitors, especially with this new gym and the Plano location. This particular location is brand new, three stories, and has great equipment. They have a lot more weight and fitness equipment than Plano does, as well. Overall solid gym and look forward to using it more.

My kids were both able to take a class (Little Rockers for age 4 & Kids’ Club for age 7) and they loved it!! The instructors were great and the climbing areas were clean and fun. This is a great way to challenge children and help their confidence grow as they keep trying to climb further. We will definitely be back and also want to plan a time for the adults to go too.

I climb here almost daily. I’m always looking forward to when the routesetters come in and change around the bouldering routes. Summit really got me into climbing and the workers here could not be nicer. Special thanks to Alister for always being willing to help me choose the right gear and accessories to enhance my climbing experience. Would highly recommend! They have bouldering, lead climbing, top rope with manual and auto belay, and a fitness centre! Can’t wait to spend the rest of my summer here!

The employees at this location are very deceitful. We were told that the membership would be $30 a month, and signed up on that basis, only to find that they charged us $81 on top of the $30. We tried explaining this confusion to the manager and no one was understanding and wouldn't refund us. Also to mention that we only went once. Beware when you go, because they are not truthful.

Came here a few days ago with a friend of mine and I can’t say I’ll be back. To be honest, Jackson was extremely rude. We made it clear we had never been there before or rock climbed. He treated us as if we were a bother from the beginning. When we asked him safety questions he’d give a short “no” “nope” “yes”. But never explained to us anything. It was like we were bothering him or idiots for not knowing.
He made us wait multiple times, once for our shoes and harness, and once for him to give us orientation because he was having conversations with one of his male co workers, he never explained to us how to put on our harness, but I caught him laughing and what seemed to be making fun of us struggling to put on our harness from behind the desk, but he never once offered to help in that 5 minutes we were struggling and he was 2 feet away. We were two females and I didn’t feel like this was a positive environment for us and I definitely didn’t enjoy being made fun of by the men who work here.

There is a dangerous hole in the padding in the bouldering area. I saw someone walking out on crutches because his foot landed in it. They didn't put a danger sign up or anything. Both employees I talked to said there was nothing they could do. This is so careless. It's bound to happen again.
