Great gym. Almost always has music playing so when I work out with a partner we can talk and still hear music. Somewhat limited weight machine options, like no reverse fly or tricep pushdown (althoug those can be done with dumbbells/cable machine), lots of cardio options like multiple treadmills and bikes. Two stair masters and two rowing machines. No functional foam rollers, and only one set of kettlebells. One tanning booth and two massage chairs, but one has had a broken foot area for at least 6 weeks now.

The staff here is great, first of all. That being said, the equipment doesn’t appear to have been updated since the 90s, half of it either doesn’t work or is patched together by hopes and dreams, and the facilities are usually pretty filthy. There’s not many options in Gainesville unfortunately so this is what we’re stuck with, but if you’re used to a well kept gym with functional semi modern equipment this is not the place for you.

Was lied to about my monthly rate, was told there were no dues or anything like that, and that I could cancel my membership at any time. Monthly rate was 33% higher than what was agreed to, yearly dues came out after my first free month, and after wanting to cancel I was told I could keep paying the rate on which I didn’t agree to, go down to a $10 a month plan, or $99 for cancellation fee. After being told I would get an email for cancellation, I never got one. I went to the front desk to ask about when I would receive it and they told me it should’ve gone through but the truth is they didn’t want to admit that this wasn’t even a thing and I received a call from someone named Ashley and she informed me of all my options which I previously stated. I decided to go with the $10 a month plan but am yet to receive confirmation of that. So they’re probably going to keep taking the higher price that I never agreed to. Shady tactics and dodgy people. Would highly suggest you avoid this place.

I love Nautilus, and this location is great! The general manager Hailey is always at the front to greet people or helping members on the floor. She also takes feedback well. Rudy is there in the evenings and is super personable which is appreciated. Stacy is the group fitness instructor for the body pump class I have taken in the past, and she is phenomenal! Would definitely recommend this location!

I am an avid gym goer, and I love trying out each of nautilus locations to see which suites me best. I recently came to the Gainesville one for the first time, and I was very pleased. Hailey, the manager, was quick to greet me with a conversation. She used to manage the Whitesboro location, so it was nice to see that she brought the same energy to another gym. The equipment options were great, and if you’re not interested in weights or machines, they have classes that I have heard many good things about. Definitely check this gym out!

Good luck w/someone bring at the front desk to answer your question about joining. Went twice on Monday February 26 first time about 12:30 pm,the maintenance gym was working the counter,he told me to come back about 1:30 thst the girl should be back(so I did). And there was absolutely nobody around. A lady was walking by seen that a needed help and went and found the trainer. But he said he couldn’t help me because he couldn’t answer the questions on what it would be with the discount working with the school. He wrote my name and number down said someone would get back with me,( but that never happened),so he told me to come back the next day and I did about 4:15pm that there should be someone at the counter, GUESS WHAT IT WASN’T.

First off I’d like to say that I’ve been going here since Nautilus first opened this location. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they keep the place in pretty good shape.

That being said… the gym itself does have a lot of problems. And if they fixed them this place could be 100x better.

1. When I first went to get my membership (from a staff member who is no longer there) I was persuaded into getting the most expensive membership with a bunch of promises. The notable ones being new equipment and a sauna. I’ve been here since the beginning and it looks like we are never getting the sauna. They have brought in “new” equipment, but nothing too great.

2. I can only come after hours because of work and they always lock the back room with all the mirrors. I’ve asked staff why they lock it and they say they have to. I am paying top price for this gym, I should have access yet I don’t.

3. This is a big one. Dumbbells that DON’T match. All of the dumbbells are different brands and they don’t weigh the same. Like the 90’s for instance. They don’t weigh the same at all. They need to fix this immediately. It’s dangerous for the person lifting them. I can’t even workout with the weight I need because of this issue. Also, there are about five hundred million 20 and 25 lbs dumbbells. Yet when you start getting to heavier weight there is only one set and like I said, half of those sets weight different. Get more heavy dumbbells and make them match for Christ sake. I don’t understand why we have more than one brand.

4. This is also a major one. ONLY 1 BENCH PRESS. It’s very frustrating when you go in ready to workout and there is a line to use the only bench press in the gym. There are a TON of people that go here. We need more ASAP. They have multiple weird machines that people hardly ever use but only one bench press that everyone uses. Not ideal at all.

5. There is not enough weight in the gym. You get someone on the leg press and a few guys squatting and there is not enough 45 lbs plates for other people. And then you have to scurry around looking for weight or just wait for them to finish. Also again, a lot differently branded 45 plates. Just stick to one brand and get rid of the rest.

With everything being said, it’s an okay gym. It needs work and truthfully I don’t know if they will ever fix it. I ask staff to fix these things every time I see them and they just kind of shrug and say it’s out of their control. It’s super frustrating. Whoever is in control could easily make this place the best gym in a 50 mile radius with just a few quick fixes. If they don’t fix these things soon I will be finding a new gym to call home and I imagine so will a lot of the other guys. They are getting tired of asking for necessary fixes and nothing being done about it.

This gym has definitely upgraded, the staff is friendly, prices are great (you literally can't beat the price in town.)! They even updated the treadmills ( they have fancy built in fans)They even have childcare and it's still super cheap. The only other thing I would recommend is coming in before 4pm, around 4-6pm it does start to get a little crowded after people get off work but there seems to be enough equipment to keep everyone happy and I have NEVER had any issues with any other members at the gym so the atmosphere is really chill!

Nautilus Gainesville - An Absolute ‘Gem’ of a Gym, to have in our community!

This is NOT the Nautilus of old. I’ve been a member through the transition and move. I’m so thankful to the owner(s) and current management for the expansion, renovation, additional equipment, and the stellar level of attention to detail; which is apparent at this location. The manager (Sylvia) is not only active, but is on site and engaging with the clients to ensure our satisfaction. The entire facility is exceptionally clean, the equipment is well maintained, and has been added to regularly.

I am a ‘basic’ member; as I only need access during normal weekday business hours. Platinum members can also benefit from on-site childcare, massage chairs, group fitness, tanning, and extended hours of accessibility.

If you haven’t checked it out since November 2022, you should. It’s nice to have a big town feeling gym in our little town!

Nautilus Gym is awesome I really enjoy working out here and using the machines/equipment. I like how welcoming it feels when you come in and how clean it is. There is always music that pumps you up to do workouts. Silvia at the front desk is great, really nice, helpful and always greets everyone. When I signed up about two weeks ago I felt like I hit the jackpot honestly. It is 24/7 M-Sunday, daycare is available, showers, lockers, lots of working out equipment, massaging chairs, free coffee, and I’m allowed to bring my 12 yr old daughter. This is just the perfect place for me and my family. I’m glad I signed up here.🤩

I have alot to say about the new location in gainesville, the staff is friendly, upbeat, honest, and definitely dedicated, you will not meet anyone else like Sylvia she has a drive and a passion for health, the girl rides her bike to work everyday like who does that besides me lol. The kids area is still a working progress but its a great start to entertain your little one and Maria is so sweet. So let's dive a little deeper the gym is well maintained there are a few tread mills that need a little attention like 2 or 3 but thats okay, I have not had any problem with any machine I know I've tried them all, let's just say I bring a group of dedicated women with me and the only complaint you may have is we get a little loud and we workout for 2 to 3hrs a night. So if your jelly its ok just come over and join us we don't bite lol, I know its scary joining a gym but if your scared its the best time to face your fear its also really quiet on Friday Saturday and Sunday I like to think its because all the ones there to check out the view come on all the other days! Anywhos once classes start up in January my group of ladies with definitely dedicated 3hrs of intense workout, but hey im just a single mom living my best life training my kids early to live a healthy life so if you see my kids sitting there being obedient watching there mom hit it just know they are of the appropriate age and well supervised by more then one mom while we are there. On the flip side I love that the gym is 24/7 access and I have already made it know the plumber should have put a water fountain in the back and that it sucks when you drank 5 glasses of water an you have to run to the bathroom every five mins makes it feel like an eternity to get there but hey you can't have everything your way unless you are the engineer that design the place what were they thinking? And one more thing if my run on sentence drive you crazy, I love haha its intentional meet too do so. Have a great day!!! Its just how I roll, we all have our flaws thats why we workout right

I know they are transitioning to their new place but the equipment is incredibly dirty. There are literally piles of dirt around the treadmill. I understand it’s only $10.00 a month to go there but there should be a standard for cleanliness. Some of the staff was nice when I asked about it, some of them were not and became incredibly rude.

New upholstery is looking great. The tour of the gym that is about to open was/is exciting! It's going to be EPIC!!! The temporary set up is just that, temporary! Keep in mind the community is what helps keep the machines working- and cleanliness of the gym to par! If the community just trashes businesses and people allow others in to break equipment then the employees can only do so much during staffed hours. Employees arent there 24-7, but the members can be and are!!!
Anytime I have needed to contact staff, they have been above and beyond with caring about the customer. I look forward to the growth of this business in our community.

My review is based on the fact that I have been to many gyms like Bally‘s fitness, lifetime fitness, world gym and golds gym etc.We’re talking about Gainesville. Were talking about Gainesville Texas here not Denton not Sherman or Lewisville . My suggestion is this, if payment is an issue for you avoid a personal trainer and pay month-to-month. You cant beat, wont beat $11 a month and a small anual fee for limited access. It works for me I get in there at least three days a week . And if you’re thirsty bring your own water. Next thing you’ll want is full shower, bath, valet parking. Let’s not forget a free tan membership and a slice of pizza from Domino’s on your way out . Come on! D Mitchell
