I'm torn when I rate Planet Fitness in Bulverde, Texas. Equipment a 5 +. Work out facilities a 5 +. Big screen TVs a 5 +. Willingness to ID each TV Network a - 5. Audio Volume on ear phone channels for TV channels - 5. No one plays their Stereo, ANY WHERE, at MAXIMUM Volume. REQUIRED here, but what is being said mostly NOT Understood.

Poor overall service. Biggest grievance is that multiple machines have been down for over a month with no repair in sight. I’ve asked employees multiple times for an ETA on the repair only for them to say they have no way of knowing. The previous review mentioned this as well, and management’s response that they are concerned with guest safety is not a great excuse, as there should be a way to prioritize safety in a more efficient fashion. Even water fountains are frequently on and off for repairs frequently (one in particular).

Been here for three months and am frustrated over these things:
1) people will sit and “hog” machine. I feel 40 minutes sitting on a machine and NOT actively using it a problem, or they will be on their phones surfing or texting the whole 40 minutes. Yes I have witnessed this on several occasions, reported it to staff who could care less.

2) machines are always broken and will stay that way for 3-4 weeks thereby limiting availability of like machines. Really were is my money going?

3) the young staff at the front desk are more concerned about surfing their own phone then walking the floor and correcting those who are just sitting on their phones and not actively using the equipment

Not much has changed With the equipment at this gym. Went last week and a total of four of the Leg machines were broken And they were that way for the whole week Hoping when we go back today, they’re not
We’ve used another gym within San Antonio multiple times over the past month and I noticed that the equipment is newer, the gym’s remodeled, and nothing’s ever broken in that gym is far busier than Boerne. Over two months ago, they said that they hired three new technicians to help repair the equipment so why is Boerne’s equipment like the stepchild who’s still broken? Also, where is my annual equipment going because it sure isn’t to replace this equipment??? The equipment is outdated compared to the Huebner Rd location.

Come on it is time to do better. I was told in August that Boerne was to get new equipment in October. It’s now November and this has proven to be a lie.

We came to planet fitness in Boerne during our visit from Hawaii, the staff Zach and Taylor were incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The gym was constantly kept clean and the machines are in excellent condition. We will continue to come back to this gym each time we are in Texas.

Clean , friendly, but most of the music is crap to hear . I normally use earbuds but they are broken and every time I’ve come the music is appalling . There’s no consideration for multi generations. And the new music videos are on the tv screens when you try to relax in a massage chair you get bombarded with some disgusting non- relaxing images. How about something actually relaxing to look at while in a massage chair? Just a suggestion. And How about go back in time a bit to some more positive music and not this modem let’s have sex all night music. Sorry to be knit picky , but music does affect mood in a work out place.

Rude employees. It's a shame to see such rude people in my town. Employees won't look me in the eyes when I talk to them and will stare at their phone, give curt responses, are condescending, and won't even smile. I know they have it in them because I've seen their demeanor do a complete 180 when interacting with other employees of the opposite sex. Flirting is the only way these folks try to show any modicum of politeness. The employee with a mullet and cross necklace is especially rude. He called himself a Christian, but I didn't see any of his behavior as Christ like. Would it kill you to be kind to a stranger?

Overall a great place. Some equipment is starting to show its age and padding should be replaced. Also the 30 minute express circuit workout area is not policed as much as it could be. People use individual machines, which isn't a problem if they're aware of the circuit, but some people are not and throw off everyone else's rotations. These are both minor complaints that can easily be addressed. Overall the place is great and you can't beat the price! Plus being 24 hrs is great for people with odd schedules like me.

Overall the gym is usually OK ! With the exception of the garbage music ! The last afternoon visit was upsetting . Went to the restroom, no soap in any of 4 dispensers ,and a foul smelling urinal area ! Informed the front desk personnel who was texting , and they said Okay ! Was going through my ritual , until I decided to use the free weights and everyone was sitting on the benches texting, surrounded by weights ! It really should be posted everywhere in the gym , Talk or text in front rest area only ! As far as the staff, they should or could be dusting equipment , refilling paper towels, soap dispensers, and cleaning the glass, ect ! Good help is getting impossible to find ! I wish texting would crash as fast as it all started !

This is a very nice Planet Fitness. I live in Kerrville and drive way out here to Boerne because I feel at home in all Planet Fitness I have been to. I have the black card, and it comes with great benefits like bringing someone else with you and more. Just ask the cool staff working here. The staff is helpful and informative. I’m an out of towner and visiting my Aunt when her well started going dry. My husband called a few gyms in Boerne inquiring about a day pass so I could use the shower facilities. He was told over the phone it was $5.00. I went to Planet Fitness on January 2nd and I was very grateful ☺️ to have a hot shower. He printed a receipt $5.43 with tax and was told it was good for a 24 hour time frame. On Jan 5th in the evening I came back for another shower and encountered a different Gentleman and was told it $20.00 per person. I told him just a few days ago I was only charged $5.00 plus tax and I was also was quoted that price over the phone as well. He said he was sorry and he was the manager and that is the price. My friend and I paid the 20 bucks cash each no tax (desperate for a shower) and he never offered us a receipt so we could come back within 24 hours. Watch out corporate this sounds shady to me.

He truly has no customer service skills. I love the large variety of exercise machines and weight machines available at Planet Fitness, the atmosphere and ambiance at Planet Fitness is lively, relaxing, calm and pleasant. I joined March 2023 and I really enjoyed it. In the last couple months, its been going downhill in all directions.
Initially, I only went in late evenings, now I go all hours, its just dependent on the days. So this reflects as a whole, not just certain times.

• Firstly, there's a couple of the staff who are actually nice. I can think of 3 or 4 out of maybe 10+ people I've seen working, who actually seem like they care. The rest are talking to each other, to the point of ignoring guests or just completly absorbed in their phones. Some act as if your presence is such an inconvenience for them. Frequently, I see them hiding under the desk.
• Secondly, there's supposed to be a personal trainer at this location. There isn't and no time frame for when they'll get one. This is one of the reasons that I even signed up. I was told to look up YouTube videos.
• Thirdly, machines take forever to be fixed. Easily, for weeks there will be multiple machines out.
• Fourthly, the guests. Whilst they're not outright confrontational, can be quite rude and show zero gym etiquette. The 30 minute room is never used properly. People will camp out on them or use each machine for 30 minutes straight. For example, there's an arm machine that is steps from the front desk and I noticed a man playing on his phone for a very long time. Because I'm nosey, I walked behind and just glanced, hoping it was a workout video or a workout tracker. He was on a 'swipe right' type dating site. Easily 30 minutes, he was playing on Tinder or whatever, just taking up one of the only machines of the kind. Maybe 50% of people actually wipe down the machines and even fewer do it properly. Wiping down the machine with your personal sweat rag doesn't count. I'm older and was raised to clean properly by a very no-nonsense woman so this is quite frustrating seeing people of all ages not knowing how to sanitize something. There are signs all over yet no one enforces it.
• Lastly, price. $10 a month is awesome, and $25 a month is still great, but its a little misleading.. It wasn't "a dollar to join" like all the signs said.. It was $1 dollar to sign up, $17 dollars to join, $25 monthly fee and a $50 yearly fee. I wish they would've been a little more clear when I inquired over the phone. I was definitely either lied to or blown off. Maybe he wasn't paying attention and just gave out partial information. Not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning. Also, because I signed up in March, I was meant to receive a fitness tracking watch for free as their promotional gift. None of the staff knew how to do it and some claimed they didn't even know it was going on despite the 5 foot billboard in front of the desk. They tried sending a code but it never worked and no one knew why. Suffice to say, I obviously never received it. All of the tanning lotions are priced incorrectly. Some say $20 but ring up $60.

The benefits: I have seen some of the staff cleaning (the 3 or 4) so the floors are clean and the trash is usually taken out; the bathrooms are generally clean as well; the black card area is kept up- I haven't ever seen any of the machines down in there; there's a pretty big selection of things to do- great for a beginner; and the monthly price is good.

Before i could use the #2 lay down tanning bed, I had to scrub the substance that was caked on the bed. Whatever it was, once you wiped it once it smeared and didn't come off easy. Would have been nice to see a clean bed instead of this substance and small hairs scattered over the bed.
